The imp looked away from Lilo for a second. Just a second. And when he looked back, he found to his horror that she'd stumbled and seemingly hurt herself. He was down on his knees immediately, trying to get a look at the injury and whether or not he would need to find an adult to handle the situation. "Can ya stand up?" he asked softly, the worry thick in his voice. "I can call for one'v them organizers or something if ya can't," he said, still staying down and waiting to hear her answer. He looked up at the wisp and he grimaced at it before pointing an accusing finger at the familiar, "Ya were s'pposed ta watch out fer stuff like that!" It was highly possible that he was directing his anger at the wrong target. Strong sense of responsibility or not, he was still a freshling and likely to shift the blame to something else.

Oh great. He had seen and he had made a huge deal of it. Lilo's face continued to turn a deeper shade of pink as they thought about the situation they had found themselves in. Lilo gently swatted Wayne away. "N-No, I'm fine. It was dumb, I should've been paying more attention to what was going on. Just forget you ever saw that, okay?" This was so embarrassing! How could they have been so stupid to let something like that happen? After everything too! Lilo internally beat themself up about the whole thing.
Oh no he didn't. When Wayne shifted his anger to the wisp Lilo got protective. "It's not the wisps fault, someone left this stone on the ground! Don't yell at it!" Worst day ever. First they embarrassed themself like this and now they were upset at someone that was being kind enough to care. Thank the nine that Lilo had long bangs because they were blushing and was so frustrated they were holding back tears. Normally Lilo was on point, sarcastic and blunt, but for some reason they were letting their emotions take control this time. Probably because the wisp was their first familiar and Wayne was the first person that actually showed any kind of concern for them.
Lilo stood up, brushing the dust off their knees and attempted to regain any dignity they had left. "I appreciate the concern, but yelling at my familiar seems pretty small to me, don't you think? You're bigger than that. Well...maybe you're not...since you're a freshling and you're pretty short still..." Boom. Nailed it again.

Wayne got up and brushed himself off but that grouchy grimace on his face was still present. "Well, fine then," he huffed though the way he spoke made the word fine sound like fahn. And at the insult he bristled, the fluff of his tail getting fluffier on instinct, "Naw, yellin' atcher familiar's lettin' it know it done messed up. And I ain't short!" he said a little louder than he really intended, puffing his chest up as if it would prove a point. "'Sides, even if I am, which I ain't, it ain't like I'm not gonna get bigger! So there!" He wanted to congratulate himself and then realized he was picking on a blind freshling and immediately felt like a jerk. But in his defense, they sound like a jerk too. "Anyway, maybe we should go somewhere else. It’s getting crowded here."

Lilo did their best to hide the enjoyment they got out of the imp. Holding back a snicker and holding back their smirk. Granted, Baphomets were one of the tallest races and imps were one of the shortest...still Lilo felt they just had to exacerbate things. Without skipping a beat Lilo felt around, once again pretending they were blind, and gently patted Wayne on the head. "Aw, it's okay. There's nothing wrong with being short..." Man, it was getting harder and harder not to just die with laughter. Wayne was making this just way too easy on them.
Lilo was starting to feel more guilty about lying to him every second. No one had ever really expressed any concern for them. It went against everything they stood for, but for once Lilo actually felt bad about what they were doing. "Yeah, I'd like to find a place a bit less noisy. Did you have a place in mind?" Lilo silently sighed to themself, trying to get ready for what they were about to do. A deep breath and...Lilo grabbed Wayne's hand. "Since you think my wisp can't do a good job, I guess I should just stick to you, huh? Lead the way, oh mighty imp." Holding hands felt weird. Maybe they'd have to tell Wayne they weren't blind sooner rather than later...Huni Pi ( /Shooshes ) No worries! Take your time <3

Wayne's cheeks puffed in indignation at the pat on his head but didn't make any attempt to bat their hand away. He was only letting Lilo do that because they'd trip while he was there and that was a consolation of sorts. Anyone else who got it in their head that the freshling imp would allow such a gesture was going to get their fingers bit. When Lilo took his hand in theirs, Wayne hastily looked away but gave the other freshling a reassuring squeeze. "Yeah, ya better stick with me. An' tell yer wisp to follow right." He knew just the place to take the baphomet. He carefully maneuvered them past seniors and juniors until they got to a cordoned off section. As much as Wayne tried to act like he was grown up, he was still a freshling and there were times this was a good thing. There were chairs and tables and most importantly lots of snacks for them. "Ya wanna regular seat or a buncha beanbags?" he asked. C-C-CaFFIENE Wayne is so presh right now. I cannot wait for him to find out Lilo can actually see >D

As they were weaving in and out of all the people there was serval times Lilo wanted to shout at people. They just wanted to let people know to get out of their way, but...that would mean exposing their lie to Wayne. As they got to the secluded corner Lilo quickly let go of the imp's hand. Lilo liked being around people and was defintely the 'all eyes on me' kind of person...they were not the touchy feely type. Actually, that was the first time they had ever actually held hands with anyone. Final verdict: awkward.
"Bean bags sound a lot more interesting." Without really thinking about it, Lilo immediately flopped down into one of the squishy bean bag chairs. The baphomet froze. If they wanted to keep this charade up they needed to be a little more careful. "What kind of snacks do they have? Hopefully something that's not pure sugar?" Crap. Lilo was actually starting to feel really bad about lying to Wayne. They had never felt bad before, why now? Right...Wayne was actually being really sweet about everything. Lilo really didn't have any friends and no one had ever been this nice to them before. What in the world were they supposed to do?! Huni Pi Lilo is seriously distraught over what to do, first time for everything, I guess 8D

The imp tilted his head as Lilo managed to make their way towards one of the bean bags without any difficulty. He wondered if the Wisp had taken up its job again but there was a nagging suspicion to the baphomet's actions building up in the back of his head. Still, Wayne wasn't going to just leave them alone. He looked around and squinted at the refreshment table where a couple of seniors were handing out snacks. "There's some sandwiches and crackers beside juice boxes. And there's lotsa cookies and a bowl of 'em heart candy-thingies." He glanced from the food and back to Lilo and an idea formed in his head. "I'll get us a little bit of each." And he left before Lilo could protest. When he returned, he was carrying a tray with a decent assortment of the snacks. But the imp took one chalky heart candy from the plate and gave it to Lilo. "Got this fer ya." And written on the candy was the message "I <3 U" C-C-CaFFIENE He's smarter than he looks XD

Oh crap. Crap. Crap. CRAP! Lilo felt dizzy. Wayne didn't actually feel that way, right? They had seriously just met, there was no way. What had they gotten themself into? Lilo weighed the possibilities in their head. On the one hand, they may have a crazy stalker who loves them after only having known them for a little while. On the second hand, Wayne could be smarter than they took him for and was purposefully trying to get a rouse out of them just to prove that they weren't blind. Ugh. Both options sounded terrible. Well, it seemed like now was as good a time as any to come clean...
But not without making some kind of scene, right? Lilo jumped up, almost knocking over the boy and the tray of food he was carrying. "Okay, okay! I'm not blind! Look!" Lilo lifted their bangs, showing their bright purple eyes. "Look, perfectly fine, fuctioning eyes. Wayne. You don't seriously feel this way, right? That's kind of creepy. Please tell me you're not completely insane." What was going to happen now?Lilo actually liked the thought of having a friend, well, they didn't have any friends before so they could do it again...

He had to take several steps back to keep from spilling the food, though some of the cookies fell off their plate and onto the tray. A part of Wayne felt triumphant that he managed to figure out Lilo's game. But another part of him felt a little hurt at the very public display Lilo just made. He allowed that feeling of rejection to flit across his features, briefly, before schooling them into a knowing smirk, "Ya sure ya ain't upset that I saw through yer game 'stead've me possibly likin' ya?" he drawled, half teasing and half chiding. "And doncha worry them long bangs of yers, I ain't in love with ya. Dunno if I still like ya, neither, seein' as I was misled to believe ya were someone else." At this he lowered the tray of food onto a table, because he didn't want to waste food in case Lilo acted up again. But he didn't seem to be walking away or leaving them on their own. Instead, he folded his arms across his chest and stared at the baphomet expectantly.

Lilo puffed out their cheeks and pouted slightly. Had Wayne really seen through them that well? Sure Lilo was upset at the fact that they thought Wayne liked them...who wouldn't be? That was kinda creepy to say the least. However, the baphomet was actually a little upset that Wayne did see through their charade. Not that Lilo made it hard for him, I mean c'mon, they should have been a lot more careful if they wanted to keep the games up. Whatever, the cat was out of the bag now. What were they supposed to do now? Apologize? Just the thought of that almost made Lilo burst into laughter. Yeah right. "First of all, yeah, I am a little peeved you saw through me. I made it easy for you though, so deflate that ego a bit little man."
Yes, Lilo, that was exactly what you needed to do there. Instead of trying to remedy the situation, make it worse, right? "Also, I do want to point out that you brought this on yourself! You were the one that made that rude remark about about me being blind so I figured I would put you in your place. You can't just say something like that to someone you barely know! You're trying to act so righteous, but you were a jerk to me too." There. It had been said. Hopefully he didn't take that as he hurt their feelings---cause he hadn't!

There they went again with the little comment. Wayne wouldn't have minded it so much if Lilo hadn't been his age and around his height. His response was a grimace accompanied by a twitch of his eye. However, his brow quirked in confusion as Lilo went on, "Rude? I asked ya a question. S'all there was to it. Dunno 'bout it being rude cuz I sure wouldn't be able to see with all mah hair in mah face." And the thing of it was that Wayne was being sincere. He didn't see how the question itself was rude (because politely phrasing things seemed to have been a lesson that went over his head) if it went straight to the heart of the matter. "But if ya thought I was being rude'n a jerk to ya cuz've that, then fine. I'm sorry."This time he reached for one of the juice boxes and offered that to Lilo as a sort of olive branch. Figures the box itself was green.

Thanks to the fact that their bangs were so long Wayne couldn't see the obvious eye roll Lilo did. Was he really still trying to play that card? The reason why they wore their bangs that long was because they weren't comfortable with their face, so sure them. Was that really so weird? Okay sure they probably shouldn't have lied to him this whole time, but man it was just so much fun to lead him on like that.
The baphomet decided to listen to what Wayne had to say. He...actually apologized? Lilo began to get slightly flustered, how were they supposed to act? Should they say they were sorry too? Should they just reject the peace offer and give him the cold shoulder? Their head buzzed with possible things they could do and most of the ideas were pretty cold.
Instead of listening to the ideas in their head Lilo took a deep breath, grabbed the juice box, and popped the straw into it. "Well...thanks. I'm...sorry too. I shouldn't have lied to you like that..." They loudly took a sip of the juice, saying 'sorry' always left a bad taste in their mouth.

Wayne nodded in response to their apology. Good. He didn't know what else he could do if they rejected his. He probably would have just gotten a sandwich and walked away. He wasn't going to force the situation with the baphomet. "Lemme start over?" he asked, straightening his sweater and lowering the plushies he'd gotten forced onto him on the table. "Mah name's Wayne. I gots a caretaker an' I'm in Eldritch." He waited a beat. "An' I ain't that short. How about you?"C-C-CaFFIENE We can end it here if you want smile

As Lilo's eyes followed Wayne's movements it was honestly hard for them to not crack a smile at the pile of stuffed animals he had set down. They really wanted to make a wise crack about how it totally made Wayne look manly...but this was a serious moment. Ugh serious moment. This was more like torture. Lilo had never meant to accidentally make a friend and even if they weren't friends they hadn't even meant to make an acquaintance.
The baphomet cleared their throat loudly. "The name's Lilo, but you knew that already. Just...call me Li." Had they really offered their nickname to him? Obviously this was the end of the world and Lilo was dying, there was no other explanation for it. "I have a caretaker of sorts, she's stopped coming by as much because I made her cry. I'm in Arkham, don't really know why though. And...you are kinda of short. Relatively speaking at least."

Wayne tilted his head at the bit of information about Lilo making their caretaker cry but decided it was something he would ask at a later time. For now, he got himself a juicebox of his own (also green) and started to take a few sips from it, "Yer prolly in Arkham cuz ya can act good." It was an observation rather than praise but Lilo was free to take it as such. He did roll his eyes at the short jab and without the benefit of bangs to hide it, not that he was trying to. "And if I'm short, doncha worry. I'm gonna get taller when I get older." He sounded supremely confident in this, as if somehow daring the cruel, sadistic individual typing at the keyboard, I mean the world to prove him wrong. C-C-CaFFIENE And with that, we can consider this done biggrin Feel free to make another response if you want <3
