It wasn't often that Faamy got to travel so far from home. When she did, she made the most of it. This time, mother had a friend visiting for a few nights, so Faamy was free to leave. Hooking up with another group traveling south, she spent her time making music with those she had joined.

It was glorious.

Eventually, they started traveling alongside a river, and Faamy couldn't help herself as she parted ways with the caravan. The water was moving swiftly but smoothly as it cut through the land. Walking alongside it, allowing her feet to get wet in the shallows, she found a beat in the sound of the water to start plucking her lute to. Smooth, swift, strong... One didn't have to look hard to find inspiration; especially once one was able to leave her own dry and boring backyard.

Makani knew that he should probably be working, and he meant to do so with time, but for now he was relaxing instead. Laying alongside the river, arms crossed under his head, eye closed. He was just listening to the sound of the water, as well as the sounds of Rae barking playfully while chasing after the sailscale that Makani had recently, accidentally, made friends with. The pair seemed to get along well enough so he couldn't say that he was really worried about either of them. They were having fun, that was what mattered most.

The sleepy sage shifted sightly, head tilting, when he heard the sounds of what he thought was music in the air. Borra? Was he out practicing? Sitting up slowly he allowed his hands to rest in his lap, listening to the sound. It was different then the music that Borra played, a different style that belonged to a different person. Another of his big sister's recruits, perhaps? He didn't know all of them by heart since they came and went, some times just apprenticing at the inn for a time before they returned to their own troupes once more. Was this one like that? Allowing his magic to reach out he felt for the new musician's energy. It was different from any that he knew so if she was part of the troupe then she was new, as in joined today new.

"I should probably greet her." He murmured, knowing full well he was probably just trying to get out of work for a bit. Purfiying enough water to fill the two big barrels he had with him took time and a lot of magical energy. It was something he'd get to, of course, but if he could put it off for a few more moments he most certainly would. Especially on a day as nice as today.

Quite content dancing along the river, Faamy took longer than she should have to notice that someone was approaching. She didn't bother pausing in her music as she watched the approach. Someone from around here?

She grinned brightly, picking up her tune's pace to sing out her greeting.

"Hello there, stranger. How are you today?
I hope you're enjoying, this lovely day."

Makani couldn't help but to give a laugh as the woman spoke to him in song form. Yep, definitely not Borra and definitely someone new as he didn't recognize either the feel of her energy or the sound of her voice. Pushing himself up to his feet Makani set to brushing himself off before he turned toward where he sensed her to be, "It's been a pretty nice day now that the weather is warming up." He said, not bothering to even attempt to sing his response since he knew he wasn't cut out for singing. He'd stick with magic that was what he was better at.

"Are you a new apprentice that my sister has taken on? She gets quite a few of them coming and going so I must admit that I can miss some of them from time to time." He hoped that, were she one of them, that she'd forgive him for having missed her. So long as she wasn't the same as Eira when it came to being an arrogant sort then he might survive such a confession in tact.

Faamy smiled brightly to hear such a delightful laugh. Most of the time, the laugh was more snarky than amused. It really was a nice day!

Head cocking slightly, she paused a moment before shaking her head, going back to a normal speaking voice. "I'm afraid not. Just down from Iory to see the sights. Your sister apprentices musicians then? Are you one of them? An apprentice, I mean."

"From what I am told there are quite a lot of interesting sights to behold in the area." He said, nodding his head and a bright smile. Sure, he hadn't seen any of them himself, per say, but he was sure that they were defnitely something amazing to behold, "Is Iory far from here?" He found himself asking, wondering how far the singing woman had traveled to get to where the inn was localed. He knew they say between Dernd and the Sautian border, but the location of others towns, that was a question he didn't have the answer too.

Giving a laugh and a shake of his head he said, "Naw, all of that isn't for me. I mean on occassion I get pulled into a dance or two, but my work is more magical based. Purifying water, starting fires were needed, construction, healing... my sister is good at making sure I'm working hard." Not that Eira really let anyone slack off. The inn wouldn't run as well if people were allowed to laze about or so she said, "If you are looking to apprentice somewhere, or just for a place to take a break in your travels, the inn does have open rooms." He offered, feeling he'd be remiss if he didn't mention it.

"Well, so far I like what I'm seein'," Faamy said with a coy little smirk. The guy was pretty cute, after all. He also looked like he had quite a bit of experience under his belt. Maybe she could get a tale or two out of him? "It's right north of here. Took most of the day by wagon. A group woulda come not too far ahead of me. I hopped free not far back to walk myself."

She grinned brightly and nodded. "Glad you got at least a few dances in you. Such a thing is what keeps life lively." The offer of her apprenticeship caught her interest, brow rising and expression taking a slightly more serious tone. "Do you really think your sister'd take on a random like me?" Then she winced and shook her head. "I don't really got money to pay her either. Thanks anyway. Stopping at that inn sounds good though."

"Ohhhh, a group came ahead of you, did they? Well, if they found the inn I am sure that my sister will be quite happy since that mens a lot of people coming to visit. The more the merrier is how she feels about things." The big groups were always good for business, but also gave everyone more people to entertain. Always more fun to dance and play for big groups after all so he really hoped that the singing girl's group had arrived before her since it would put Eira in a good mood.

Giving a nod Makani said, "I can attest to that, my sister is quite the lively woman after all." He said, even after having a baby she was still the same energic woman as ever. At her next question he couldn't help but to laugh as he said, "I don't see why not." One of those jokes that was funny mostly to Makani since he couldn't really see anything. Giving a smile he said, "You needn't pay, she just likes to take on random apprentices, allow them a bit of stage time, and time to hone their skills at the inn. They come and go after a while, normally on their own time. You should definitely at least visit."

"Aye, they should already have arrived. A while ago, most likely." Faamy grinned lightly. "The more the merrier? I think I'll like this sister of yours."

She really wouldn't need money to apprentice? That would be amazing! Her face had lit up like the sun, and she did a little twirl of excitement. "I will definitely stop by, then! I only have a couple days, but I'm sure to get somethin' out of it!" Her little trip had just taken a whole new turn for the better.

Still, her curiosity about this stranger hadn't yet been sated. "If ya don't mind me askin', were ya born here? You look like someone with more than one kind of blood." She grinned and cocked her head. "It suits ya good, though. No worries."

"Wonderful, I am glad to hear that you will hang out with us at the inn even if it's only for a couple of days." It wasn't a lot of time but it would allow the singing girl to meet up with his sister, chat with her a bit, and maybe participate in a show or two. It would be fun for everyone involved if you asked Makani.

Giving a nod of his head at the question Makani said, "Yeah, born in Sauti, spent the first few years of my life here with my mother, and then moved to Zena to stay with my father until I was a prentice. After that I traveled around with my sister's troupe before we ended up back in Sauti again." They had been all over the Northern lands before settling down, something that had been good for the troupe as they had thrived here at the inn, "Heh, is that so? Thank you." The singing girl was just full of compliments, wasn't she? Something that Makani didn't really mind, it was nice to hear good things about his mixed blood since he'd been teased for it when he was little.

"Ah! Since I should probably remember my manners eventually, my name is Makani." He said, holding a hand out in the general direction that he could sense her energy in and hear her breathing, "It's nice to meet you."

Faamy couldn't help grinning brightly. She was utterly delighted to be staying someplace that encouraged her to be creative with her music. "At the least, it'll be good to scout about here. If I like it enough, I just might come back and bother ya some more," she said playfully.

Her brow rose at the introduction, and she laughed. "Well, ain't that just rude of me, bein' the guest here." Her hand stuck out to clasp his for a firm shake. "The name's Faamy. It's a pleasure!" Now that she was close enough, she noticed something she wasn't used to, and was oblivious to what it could possibly mean. So, with her usual straightforward and not quite tactful manner... "The sun too bright for ya? Doesn't squinting like that ache after a while?"

Makani smiled, "It will be a welcome visit, it's always nice to have return visits, it's how friends are made." He said, glad to hear that she might come back to bother them. It would be good for everyone in the inn to make more friends, especially the sort like the singing girl since that meant more return guests that could also perform. Returning guest players, that would be a great draw he thought to himself thoughtfully. It would work out well, something he aught to talk to his sister about, to see what she thought. She'd probably have to hold try outs, but it could work.

After the shake of hands Makani said, "It's very nice to meet you, Faamy." He was glad that he'd been slacking off a bit in his work because it meant that he was able to run across such a nice girl. Her next comment had the sage standing there for a moment, looking a little surprised, before he started to laugh. He couldn't help but to find the comment, while completely without tact, to be far too funny... though that just might be his strange sense of humor. Giving a little shake of his head and a grin he said, "Actually my eyes are always like this, more closed them squinting though, so no ache I assure you."

Faamy cocked her head at the surprise laugh, smiling a little in response. His laugh was quite nice. "Closed? Then how can ya s-? ......Oh." She had the decency to blush when the switch clicked in her brain. "Heh, eh, sorry 'bout that," she said with an apologetic chuckle. "People do say my mouth tends ta run ahead of my brain. I get it from my pops." She shook her head with an exasperated but amused sigh toward herself. It certainly had gotten her into trouble more than once.

"So anyway, friend Makani, which way to the inn? A girl could use a drink."

Makani couldn't help but to laugh, unable to help but to be amused by the reaction in the girl, "You needn't worry, Faamy, I am not insulted in the least bit." If anything he was enjoying himself greatly, always finding amusement in the reactions of others... when it was there at least. There were some people that met him and noticed straight away, others it took a while, then some never seemed to realize. Makani was always curious to see how people reacted to such a thing... so to speak. Another thought that made him chuckle a little.

"It's not too far from here." He said, considering for a moment what she mentioned about 'a drink' before he realized that he really did need to get to work on purifying the water, didn't he? Still, best to get Faamy to the inn first. He could hand her off into the care of Gyuri, and then return here to finish up his job here at the river. Giving a smile Makani said, "I will escort you back to the inn. I want to make sure you get there alright. Once there you can chat with our bouncer, Gyuri, and he can help you find my sister if you'd like to meet her too. She's probably playing with my cute little nephew, Li, at the moment."

Quite grateful that Makani truly seemed more amused than angry, Faamy gave a delighted giggle. It was good to meet someone who had a sense of humor!

The offer to escort her made her give a little bow instinctively. "Why, that is mighty sweet of ya. Thanks." Her brow rose slightly as the new name's title. "Eh, the place gets a little rowdy sometimes?" The have an actual bouncer? How interesting! "I will definitely keep an eye out fer yer sister. Gotta see if she'll let me stick 'round!"
