Name: Havaar Odegaard Stage: Prentice Race: Pureblood ice Gender: Male 3 Base Traits: Logical, Curious, Arrogant Personality: Logical- Though far from emotionless, he tends to stay calm and view things from a more rational perspective. He sees the ability to reason as being the core of what separates men from beasts, and believes emotional decision making is the cause of most of the world's problems.
Curious- He is filled with an insatiable desire to understand the inner workings of the world around him, and is constantly frustrated by the shallow pool of information available to him. This is the driving force behind most of his actions, and he will take nearly any opportunity to advance his knowledge of the world.
Arrogant- The constant references to his intelligence by virtually everyone he encounters has completely gone to his head. He takes his own superiority, at least in the realm of intelligence, to be nearly a given in any encounter. He tends to look down on people he considers to be stupid, but especially those who he finds to be uninterested in learning.

History: Born the second son of a noble family in Zidel, Havaar seemed to be a healthy, if somewhat superfluous son. All predicted that he would serve a prominent, but secondary role in the family. His future was shattered when at the tender age of 3, he suffered through a terrible illness, and only barely survived. The disease permanently scarred his lungs, and significantly withered his body. He is beginning to recover his strength, but he continues to bring his walking stick wherever he goes in case of a long walk or moment of weakness. Because of his poor health, he has spent his life mostly indoors, and most of his interaction is with the tutors his parents hire to teach him.
While his parents never hesitated to show that they cared, Havaar found the interaction to be somewhat hurried, as if there were several things higher on their list of priorities. His brother was always sympathetic, but was also quite busy, preparing for his future as the head of the family. He soon came to recognize that even if he were the firstborn, he could never hold a prominent position in the family. He was damaged. A cripple. Nobody would ever accept him as their leader when he could be knocked over by a stiff breeze. His parents told him that he could become a natural philosopher, and perhaps study magic once he was able. Though he resented them somewhat for brushing him aside in such an obvious way, he had little choice but to comply.
As soon as he was well enough to speak and listen, Havaar began what his parents understood to be an extensive and extremely intense education. Havaar found it to be rather simplistic, and soon began to understand just how unusual his intelligence was. The few social gatherings he was allowed to attend badly wore on his patience, finding anyone significantly older than him to be condescending in their speech, and anyone near his age to be complete simpletons. While many of his teachers at first seemed impressive, that only lasted until he began to truly grasp the subject matter. More and more, the people around him ceased to be real, they became automatons, mere simulations of life, with no purpose or meaning.
This came to an end when he met Isior, the man who many called the greatest philosopher of their time. All of his teachers up til this point gave Havaar knowledge, but Isior gave him wisdom. Havaar was forced for the first time to use his mind to it's fullest extent. Isior showed him that even the most powerful mind cannot solve certain problems without a concrete system. Isior taught him logic, and the foundation of ethics. Under Isior's tutelage, Havaar began to form the core of his worldview. Those around him were indeed people, they were simply cursed to never see the world as he did. Though they did not understand, and some could never understand, it didn't make their lives less valuable. With this knowledge Havaar found new purpose, to push the bounds of knowledge, and to use his mind to improve the lives of others.
