How does everyone feel about the new classes and promotion branches introduced in Fates?
And I don't just mean the reskinned/renamed ones that are otherwise entirely old, like Diviner=Mage, Onmyoji=Sage. I mean things like the Outlaw replacing Thief with Bows instead of Swords. New weapon combinations, etc...
What's you favorite new class? Least favorite?

You know, I was hesitant about Outlaw, but I kind of like them. Ninjas have appropriately replaced thieves over on Hoshido, so that leaves the Nohr tree with a need for a thief, and also a bow unit, since Hoshido for some reason took Archer and also has the Apothecary... and I think it works. The class is built for speed and resistance; they've a mage killer class. And they're not stuck with just bows forever, whichever promotion they choose. I also feel it's easier to utilize them as mage killers because of bows. I can leave them in the max range of mages, who will come kill themselves. With other mage killers, I need to have a ranged weapon, which usually aren't as good... especially in Fates! (like wtf do you mean no follow up attacks??)
I also really like Niles. Like. A lot.
Least favorite: pegasus archers I WILL ALWAYS HATE THIS IDEA. SAW A ******** DO A FINAL HIT ON A UNIT BY JUMPING OFF THE PEGASUS AND DOING A SOMERSAULT BEFORE FIRING THE BOW, LIKE ARE YOU SHITTING ME, SIT YO a** DOWN ON THAT PEGASUS AND ACTUALLY AIM LIKE A REAL ARCHER OR DIE BY FALLING TO THE EARTH. YOU MAKE NO SENSE. I hate them.

*sweatdrops at Rath's hate rate on Pegasus Archers* sweatdrop ...
I have to say it's pretty interesting of how they try to fit the class and weapons to the country. Of course, I'm still not use to the triangle ranged weapon. I keep thinking of daggers and shurikens as sword type when they're really Lance type. sweatdrop
Don't have any favorite or least favorite class, but Reina's class (can't remember the name) looks interesting. Instead of a wyvern, it's a Phoenix for the Hoshido's "Wyvern Riders." Of course, they use bows instead of axes. sweatdrop

My new favorite class has to be a toss up between Basara and Ninja. Basara units are by far my favorite new lance units in general because of how chaotic and experimental they are. The fact they're a split stat unit with some of the most interesting skills to date just absolutely enamor me to them, especially when it comes to their comedic fighting style. (Trust me, getting that finishing blow and seeing them slam themselves on the ground is oddly satisfying) Quixotic is a skill I'm going to have to experiment with but I absolutely love how potentially devastating it is to both sides. After Awakening I can definitely see that IS wanted to shy away from turtle builds and this is one of the biggest signs of that.
Ninjas are just fantastic units with great stat growths in all the right places, knives are better than ever (or shurikens depending on your aesthetic) and the debuffs they have are some of the best utility I've seen on a unit in awhile. (Trust me, they've destroyed the difficulty of some really tough situations or helped grinding out that new unit in places they probably should have no business being in.) I think a good chunk of my first gen units ended up in Master Ninja. (That lethality is just too good)
Now for my worst class?
It's sadly Kinshi Knight, but for none of the reasons that seem to be going around. It's the biggest disappointment to me because I absolutely love the aesthetic of the class itself and my favorite characters happen to have the class as innate reclassing options, particularly all the Hoshido nobles. It's a nice enough class but you need to incorporate the right skills to make the bow worth it considering the sheer amount of bow users in Birthright and as well as castle teams. (Niles, you beautiful sexy b*****d) Their skills are alright, but my only problem is that Amaterasu seems to out of place for a flying unit unless you were to reclass them into a ground unit to never touch the class again.
Kinshi isn't a bad class, persay, it just doesn't have a lot going for it without the right support that something like Falcon Knight could do better. (Even if Kinshi has the better skills, that's not saying much). All the new classes are good, this one just happens to be the bottom of the barrel.

Cleric Evelyn Their skills are alright, but my only problem is that Amaterasu seems to out of place for a flying unit unless you were to reclass them into a ground unit to never touch the class again.. This confuses me. How would Amaterasu be better for a ground unit with lower movement? Because it's a support skill that's essentially free healing based solely on positioning, having the highest movement possible, and better yet, not being slowed down by the environment makes it easier to take advantage of on a flying unit than anyone else. I have definitely fallen in love the new Ninja class tree (and am also happy it's readily accessible regardless of what route you're playing). Strong 1-2 range in the series has been continuously tweaked, and frankly, nerfed, making it harder and harder to come by. With weapons like Javelins/Hand Axes seeing a huge reduction in Mt in Awakening and now not even being able to double attack, crit, OR activate abilities, Ninjas with their consistent 1-2 range without any major drawbacks are really impressive. But then you throw in a class tree that specializes in a 1-2 weapon like Shuriken, give it skills like Poison Strike, Shurikenfaire, and Lethality (which is kinda crap without Quixotic, but still nice when it activates) and give every single weapon debuffs attached to them to get around the somewhat low Mt of the weapon class. And as if that wasn't enough, they threw in more super effective Shuriken/Daggers than any other type of weapon. Seriously, Sting Needle for armours, Hunter's Knife for horses/beasts, AND Kris Knife for monsters? I don't think any other weapon type matches it for super effective weapons, making possible issues for subpar strength easily remedied in a number of ways. With the weapon having so much going for it, I also really like Maid/Butler a lot more than War Monk/War Cleric. Live to Serve is such a cool skill, too. Just slap the Flame Shuriken on Felicia and it doesn't even matter that she has poor Strength. I also WANT to say I like the Oni Savage/Oni Chieftan classes, but it may just be more accurate to say I love using Rinkah. Oni Chieftan has great skills though. But I really just want to pass the skills onto as many people as possible and then go to a different class, so, which doesn't speak too highly of the class itself.

It's just based on my own usage of flying units and how I either use them to secure objectives across the map or using them to transport slower moving units to and from battles. Amaterasu doesn't get much mileage simply because those units tend to be out of range of using Amaterasu to its fullest. That's about it.

Like, his arms are so stiff. They look so uncomfortable. And then he does that thing where he turns around and faces the other direction? Why does he do that thing? And he just looks so uncomfortable the whole time jeezI would not want to be him, doing that uncomfortable thing all the time. Although, could I even change back if I wanted? I'm a Samurai currently, and I don't really know of any way to turn back into my unique class. Didn't I pretty much just close that whole branch off forever?
