They arrived in his apartment. He had been aiming for the kitchen, but considering it was a studio space the living room really wasn't all that far off. Accuracy was something he had been getting better and, honestly, there were other things on his mind (not hurting Prehnite and not getting caught, the two highest). Moving both of them had been draining, but Richterite hadn't been willing to take any further risks when it came to getting the lieutenant out of there. He pushed past the way his own legs felt like jello, wobbling on his feet for a second before leaving Prehnite where he was standing so that he could retrieve a box from the area sectioned off by a divider wall (his 'bedroom'). The box contained a few energy orbs that he hadn't turned in yet and a small set of lock picks he'd had, and treasured, since his Hillworth days. "********, Reed. I should have started looking for you sooner." He shook his head as he set the box down, pulling the picks out so that he could get to work on the cuffs. It was way easier to pick the locks on handcuffs when you could actually see what you were doing instead of fumbling with them behind your back (someone had bet him that he couldn't and Rik didn't back down). "They didn't rough you up too bad, did they? Do I need to get you to a hospital after I get you out of these cuffs?"

It was disorienting at first. Popping from the prison straight into Rik's living space. Taking a steadying breath as he fought the need to just find a spot on the floor and curl up into a nice safe little ball; tired gaze following the man until he vanished behind the dividing wall, and back out again with some sort of box. Eyes widening at the sight of real, honest to gods, lock picks.
The guy wasn't just being a smart a**, he actually had lock picks? Then again Reed had never thought of any sort of situation in which he would have use of that specific item. Apparently he needed to start thinking more broadly in terms of his own preparedness.
"I wouldn't have...." He didn't mean to be self-depreciating in this moment. To say anything that would suggest Richterite was the one lacking in a friendship he very much valued having. He was simply upset by the realization of his own failings. Besides his friend wouldn't, no, couldn't have found him, even if he had come looking for him at the start of it all. The knights hadn't explained how..
Hospital? Yes! No, maybe? "********...." He paused thinking hard. Nothing was broken, he wasn't bleeding out, he felt he could check 'needs hospital now' off his mental list. "No hospitals, I'm not that bad off." He would absolutely ask for a first aid kit, his wrists definitely needed taken care of, and the bruises would heal. He would get himself cleaned up and-and......
Water, Food, Sleep.
Those three things, that was his new mantra. Every other little thing he wanted could come later. He'd ditch the god awful glamour, get something into himself, and pass the ******** out on the nearest flat surface. It didn't even need to be soft at this point; so long as it was somewhere safe.

"When I started working the whole 'street magician' angle for energy gathering I bought a set of lock picks. Thought I'd try my hand at a bit of actual magic," there was a slight smirk to his tone, leaving the honesty of his story up in the air for the moment. "Turns out I'm s**t at it, at least when I'm trying to pick cuffs on my own wrists, but --" A soft schick sounded as one cuff popped open, leaving him to start on the second. "Not so bad when they're on someone else." The second took a little bit longer but eventually there was a clinkclank as the cuffs fell to the floor. He gave them a kick across the room, knocking them out of sight for the moment. Richterite set the picks on the coffee table, powering down as he headed to the kitchen to snag a bottle of water and protein bar (his usual breakfast staple). "This first, then you can use my shower. I'll get you some clothes and we'll take a look at your wrists -- And you can tell me what son of a b***h nabbed you." He paused after saying that, looking over the other man once more with a furrowed brow. "Or you can crash and we'll save that conversation for morning."

The story was distracting enough from what Rik was doing, the soft clicking workings of the picks in the locks. Reed appreciated it. A relieved little gasp as the first one came undone, a wince as what felt like an eternity of moments later, the second one.
He realized belatedly that he could have dropped the glamour the second Rik had ported him here, the thought hadn't even occurred until he'd heard that final click. The beautiful noise of metal sliding off and being kicked away. Breathing the power off and trembling with the new throbbing ache of it all. Pins and needles at first, the burning soreness of finally being able to bring his arms forwards after days, it had to have been days, he would ask how long it'd been since lost count after day four...
"Locks..and not card tricks?" Reed rasped, eyes locking onto the items Rik offered with ravenous glee. He'd never been so happy to see food and water in his life, and he usually hated things that came in bar form. It meant that there had to be something unnaturally about it, usually the chemical components..
Unable to stop the shaking in his hands as he snatched the items up, then gingerly sat his a** down next to the coffee table before he fell down. Not caring that he was being an undignified mess, he devoured the protein bar, nearly licked the damn wrapper clean, and half choked on the water before remembering how humans drank..slowly and not like they were dying for it...sipping and not gulping..though managing that was hard.
Reed could only nod as he finished, wiping his face off on his sleeves though that did little good to make him feel any cleaner. Rik was offering up so much, his home, and..just..basic human decencies! "Thank you-so much...Talking-talking is fine.." Reed sniffed, pointedly not looking at his wrists. He would, absolutely would take up every offer..even the one to talk.
Because all he'd done in that damned place was talk, it was the easiest thing in the world to do..To cower and answer nearly everything in a way he thought would save his own a**, even when they'd asked nothing of importance, when he couldn't fathom why they weren't asking any of the right questions!
"Can I just pick all of the above?"

"Card tricks are easy." He flashed the other man a grin, continuing the story for a bit while Reed helped himself to the water and the bar he'd brought over. "You start out with the easy things and then you go 'Hmm, what would be more useful if I find myself arrested for performing on the street without a permit?' and take off on what might work better from there. It's a lot easier than being that a*****e who winds up on the news for starting a brawl with DCPD." His brow furrowed as Reed started to thank him and he shook his head. "No, you don't have to thank me. All of the Above is definitely a package that you can pick from the menu too. It actually comes with the added bonus of breakfast in the morning. Can't cook much, but I can toast an Eggo like a boss. Bagels too."

Reed could imagine it, easily, and it made sense. Especially if Rik was playing it from that angle. Though it would have made far more sense to avoid the cops entirely, he wondered just how many times their people had pulled the 'disappearing man trick', there never did seem to be many stories about regarding people vanishing into thin air..Then again, who could report such a thing without looking crazy? "A jack of all magical trades, and a chef. I'm impressed." He chuckled, shaking his head as he set the empty trash down on the table.
Any other day, Eggo's would have sounded disgusting, but right now, it was mana straight from heaven. Reed couldn't help thanking Rik, any more than he could help teasing him some. How did the man survive on his own if he couldn't make more than toast? "With that vast repertoire, you could open a bed and breakfast...." He felt better, just with that little bit of something in him. Ready enough to push his sleeves up, and hiss at the ugly marks the cuffs had left.
"You'd probably go bankrupt within the week; considering how generous your package deals are." They felt raw, inflamed, torn and bloodied in places where he'd definitely struggled to hard that first day. It'd all been mostly his own fault. It was going to be a b***h to clean them. Sighing and glancing back up to Rik tiredly..
Shower, Wrists, Talking
It was nice to have a simplified list to work with. He could simply talk himself to sleep on the mans couch..or was it a futon..wait did he even have a couch out here? He hadn't really been looking before. "I would take advantage of it..." He was going to suggest the clothes he was wearing be burned. He personally didn't ever want to see them again.

"Bed and breakfast, eh? Could be an interesting business venture. Don't know if they'd give a guy with no credit a business loan, though. Maybe we'll pitch it to the higher-ups at some point. We could market energy-draining as a sleep aide. All the rage! Best rest ever!" He shook his head, smirking softly as he held his hand out to the other man so that he could help him to his feet. The 'living area' of Rikard's apartment consisted of the kitchen area with a small breakfast table and two chairs, although he couldn't recall the last time he'd had someone over to actually use them. A flat screen television was mounted to the wall with two gaming systems sitting neatly on a shelf beneath it. There was a coffee table, littered with books from the classes that he was supposed to be taking this semester. The sectional sofa took up the rest of the main living area and did have the option to pull out into a bed, although he hadn't actually used it since setting the other half of the open floor space up into a 'bedroom'. "C'mon. On your feet, soldier. Shower's not far; plus side of an apartment set-up like I've got. We can discuss business ventures a bit more while I take a look at your wrists once you're cleaned up."

"Alright-alright, I'm up, but I refuse to like it." Gladly taking Rik's hand and support. Greatful that the man lived in such a compact space. He made a mental note to go snooping through his things later. His home seemed neatly compact, but not barren like Reeds own place felt.
It was enough to smile at the thought of getting clean; easy to keep up the playful conversation. "I warn you, I'm a terrible economist." He was a plants kind of guy really, he wanted to own a shop..or..no..a lab? He wanted to cross pollinate exotic hybrids, invent poisonous rhododendrons, and have a weapon coated in home brewed Ricin! That was a little much though..
Reed sighed once the door bathroom door clicked closed behind him; fought down the slight panic of being out of the other mans sight. He wasn't going to be locking this door, just in case. "Your bathroom is beautiful; if I don't come out in an hour assume I died happy." He wasn't even going to bother with the mirror. He was going to enjoy ignorance for a moment, strip everything off and remind himself why hot running water was mankinds greatest luxury.

"Yeah, yeah." He laughed, running his hand over his face as he leaned against the wall for a moment. "Towels are in the cabinet by the sink and I'll leave some sweats outside the door for you." He lingered until he heard the water start up before heading to his dresser to get some comfortable clothes for Reed to sleep in. He left a pair of basic black joggers and a local band t-shirt just outside the bathroom door, folded neatly on the floor. He then made his way to the kitchen to get the first aide kit down from on top of the refrigerator. He grabbed another bottle of water out of the fridge, pouring some into a cup to then pop into the microwave to heat for tea. While the microwave was humming away he peered into the fridge, pulling out the supplies to make a sandwich. He figured that would make a decent enough of a distraction for the other man while he bandaged his wrists. Neither of those things took as long as he would have expected, so he set the tea and sandwich down alongside the first aid kit before shifting his living room around enough to pull the bed out of the sofa. He was starting to run low on energy himself from the late hour along with the teleportation, but he wouldn't let himself relax until he'd gotten everything else settled first.

Reed finally relaxed as he gently scrubbed himself clean, paying special attention to his hair because eww..Doing his best to mind his wrists. Watching a weeks worth of grime run down the drain; he would never take indoor plumbing for granted again.
He felt human again, even if his body felt like used chewing gum. It was enough to be clean, warm, and safe.
Finally killing the hot water when he felt himself drifting under the spray. Already yawning as he dried off; trying not to make too much of a mess of Riks space. The clothes left at the door were nice. Soft. He didn't recognize the band name, but the logo looked interesting enough.
Rubbing tiredly at his eyes as he finally made his way back into the living room. The pull out couch was going to be his new best friend, right next to Rik, and maybe pigtails...
"Mmph....." Flopping bonelessly onto what he now dubbed 'Best bed in the world'. He could smell the tea, but he didn't want to move. He wanted to thank Rik again, but he knew the man wouldn't take it..He'd have to find some way to repay him.

He set the cup of tea down on the end table along with the sandwich. He had an antibacterial cream at the ready along with some gauze and a bit of medical tape to hold everything together. Rikard had been lucky enough to not need to use much out of the medical kit he'd put together, but he wasn't going to knock being prepared even if he had never expected to need it for something like this. "Lemme take a look at your wrists and then you can crash. You don't even have to sit up if you're alright with me prodding at you while you're lying down." He kept his voice soft, not wanting to bother the other man too much if he'd already passed out. He couldn't imagine what going through something like that had been like and still wanted to track down whoever had done it to have a few stern words, amongst other things. He didn't know anyone on their side, personally, who deserved something like this.

Peeking up at Rik briefly from beneath his lashes, and giving a consenting nod before letting them drift shut again. "S'fine, prod away." He shifted slightly on the couch, leaving his wrists easily accessible. It was easier to just lay there and let him work.
To use the gentle silence to muddle through his own thoughts. He still wanted to gnaw at them; like fragments of bones. "I didn't get to see who..not their faces." Whispered, and he wished he could have offered more detail. Their auras had been hidden, somehow, in those moments just before. He'd barely had time to struggle, before he'd found himself waking up in a cell alone, and then the real panic had begun.
"There was this-this one ********, with the whip." He swallowed the growl that came with the words; the tightness in his chest at the thought. No, it was better to let it go for now. "Sorry, tomorrow..." Reed sighed, ashamed of his own weakness. He still felt so warm though, safe, body heavy with exhaustion. He didn't have the energy to work himself up again. It was already hard to stay awake through Riks ministrations; even the occasional twinge of pain felt distant against the nagging need to sleep.

"Tomorrow's fine, Reed." He nodded, giving the other man's shoulder a gentle squeeze once he had finished bandaging up his wrists. He would remember everything that his friend said, storing it all away so that he could keep an eye out for any knight with a whip -- And more. "Get some sleep; as much sleep as you want. I'll leave the light on and hey, man-- You wake up during the night and you need someone, wake me up." He wouldn't be far, wasn't sure that he would even sleep much himself or if he would just be up all night trying to figure out how their people had been missing for so long without being noticed.
