Utsuki was Malkia's only friend, the only real one that was. Everyone else feared her 'sight', some even went as far as to say she was crazy. It was isolating, and as a young girl- she had been whiny, and now, everyone knew why. Her mother had decided to stay just a little longer when the pride disbanded. Maybe it was the war... maybe the system was broken since then. Somehow, in some ways, she felt responsible. She saw the great evil coming towards them, but she was too little to figure out what had been happening to her. How to explain herself except for screams and tears.
When she had been in the season to look for a mate, she was isolated even more when her prospect found out how hard it was to stay around her during a vision. Although he explained he cared very deeply, he didn't know how to help her, and that hurt him. Caused him suffering, and couldn't imagine staying. That's around the time the young reporter lion met. His mane hadn't fully grown in, and it was he- that recorded along with his hyena companion. He listened to their history, and listened to her cries. He was tender, and in return he bestowed her, the story to learn how to control her reactions to the visions. Fore you could not fully stop them from coming, but you could repress the reaction. Soothed yourself. She smiled, and they became friends. 'Spoke' often with the messenger birds from the pride.
He had come to visit several times. Some with traveling friends, girls. Some with traveling friends, boys. Loved by many, Utsuki was a charming lion, and she had known quite a few that had crushes on him, and that was just in her pride. He traveled around the world, and that was what she liked about him. His stories were all so amazing, some true, and some weaved by ancestors before us. This came to an end when the pride disbanded. He hadn't come in some time, and she worried. Messenger birds left the pride and she hoped he would come back, so she could travel the world with him. He never spoke about a mate, nor even looking for one, but even if she was just his friend, she would be ok with that.
He didn't come. For months. No birds. No visits. She spoke to her mother, a plea from the heart.
"I never told him.."
