“I am the mother ******** Queen of the Bees,” Faye roared as she struck a pose on the tiny hill she’d laid claim to. As she brought both boffer swords to bear, she glared at the people who looked like they were considering taking her tiny kingdom away. “C’mon, you ********! Try me! I’ll use my magic bee powers and take y’all down!”

It was nonsense, of course. But it was the best kind of nonsense. That’s she’d managed to find a LARP group so soon after arriving in Destiny City was something of a minor miracle to her mind. That her new friends were willing to put up with her antics was a bigger miracle. Of course, this was just goofing around before the main event began. They could afford to indulge a little since not everyone had arrived.

A movement caught her attention and she grinned as the first of her would be challengers broke from the group and charged. This guy was clearly newer than her and hadn’t yet learned that the cute, Southern girl was no pushover. The look on his face clearly stated that he thought he was better than any girl and this would be a quick and easy victory. And once he was done proving his superiority, she’d fling herself into his arms for makeouts.

Please. I don’t think so.

Brown eyes narrowing, she waited until he was nearly on her and threw herself to the side just as he was bringing his own sword around. Skidding down the loose soil of the hill, she struck out with her own swords and caught him in the ribs with one before the other swung about and hit the back of his knees, carrying through and sending Mr. Manly Man crashing to his a**. Before he could recover, Faye charged forward and leveled both swords at his face.

“I’d say that’s a win for me, pal,” she said cheerfully. “But hey, feel free to try and prove me wrong. I’ll just knock you on your a** again.”

Grinning at the dark glare he leveled at her, Faye kept her guard up as she kept him down. Oh yeah, he was new, all right.

“As a guess, no one bothered to warn you about me. Not very nice of them, but amusing for all. ‘Specially me.”

She would have continued to gloat had it not been for the whistle. Taking a step back, she withdrew her swords, resting the blades casually on her shoulders. The rest of the group had arrived.

“And ain’t you the lucky duck. Time for the news and announcements portion of our weekend. Be seein’ you around, Junior.”

Moving deliberately, she turned her back on him and sauntered towards the picnic area. She was half expecting him to try and get a little dignity back by being sneaky, but either he was smarter than he looked or he had friends who were now kindly explaining how things worked to him. She was good either way. She had a whole weekend to beat the ever-loving crap out of people.

Stretching happily, Faye turned her attention to the folks in charge and listened carefully as the rules of the game were outlined.
