              ■ ADVENTUROUS Living in a cramped one bedroom flat for most of his life, Wren couldn't help but sometimes imagine life outside of what he knew. When he was younger he used to imagine his favorite superheros flying in and taking him to far away places like maybe Dubai, the Amazon, even London would be fine. As he got older those childish whims died but his sense of adventure only grew.
              ■ PRIVATE It had long since been beaten into his skull, literally and figuratively, not to speak about what happens in his personal life. No one needs to know because it's not anyone's business but his own. He despises those who think they have a right to snoop in other people's trashcans.
              ■ CYNICAL Eleven is far too young to have the bleak outlook on life that he has, but Wren likes to argue that he didn't suddenly develop it at eleven so whoever can shut their mouth hole and go about their way. There are no rainbows with leprechauns at the end. There's no light at the end of the tunnel. Whether there's a heaven or a God means nothing to him because he has to live in the now and the now. Sucks. Donkey arse.
              ■ DEDICATED Just because he doesn't always believe in the best of things doesn't mean he doesn't like to throw himself fully into a project or even a person. Whether its learning a new skill, getting enough money for the rent, or even just making sure his little sister is never fully aware of their bleak existence he will work until the ends of his fingers bleed, fall off, and then some.
              ■ PERCEPTIVE Wren likes to stay one step ahead of things and to do so he has to keep an eye for his surroundings. Especially if he's in a hostile situation, which is pretty much every weekday.
              ■ CARING Deep deep beneath his cynicism and rather prickly shell there lies a caring nurturing soul. He can't help but offer help to those who seem or actually are less fortunate than him which can include children and adults alike. He's especially caring towards his younger sister whom he's the actual caregiver of.

          xxxH I S T O R Y xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
CHILDHOOD Wren never knew his real father, he died when he still just a baby, but that was ok because he had his mom. His mother was a struggling poet who made a decent income as a full-time tutor and substitute teacher. They stayed just above the poverty line and lived paycheck to paycheck but they were happy. Then there was a car crash when he was around three and his mother needed knee surgery and was given prescription pain killers which was where live took a horrible downward spiral. The little boy was rather used to being in after school programs waiting on his mother but soon those days became longer and longer until he just decided that catching the bus himself and walking took less time than waiting on his mother to sober up. After her painkiller stash wore out he thought that'd be the end of it but it was only the beginning; she started digging into harder stuff to get a better high, dangerous dirty stuff from the looks of the needles he kept finding around their place. Then she failed a surprise drug test at her job and lost it, and once her savings were spent on drugs and sometimes food they were kicked out of their flat and had to move into an estate. It was a rather big change for the little boy who once had his own bedroom (small as it was) to now just a small mattress in a shared room. One day a teacher noticed his dirty clothing and how hungry he always was and reported it to child services and he was taken away from his mother and placed in a foster home while his mother was thrown into a rehab center. Instead of getting her clean it merely made her smarter on how to hide her drug usage as well as become better at finding it. When she passed the mandatory classes to get Wren back he figured that things were actually worse and not better when she introduced him to the new man in her life. He was a local distributor who found that having a family gave a good cover from his operation being found out and his mother...well she just liked the ease of access. The man started forcing him and his mother to run drugs for him under threats of being cut off (his mother) or the untimely demise of his mother (Wren). He had been six when this happened and he had been sure that this would be his bleak existence for the rest of his days. Things changed though when he turned eight and his mother gave birth to a little girl. The only decent thing in that man's entire life that he ever did was keeping Wren's mother clean during those nine months, his reasoning was so he didn't have to dole out good money on a retarded kid but Wren didn't care about his reasoning. Anwen was a gift to him and him alone, especially since his mother started using the moment the umbilical chord had been cut. She was too busy getting high and making runs to really raise an infant so in between school, runs, and running from the police Wren cared for his little sister and tried to think of a way to get her away from their hellhole and her parents. It seemed like a foolish goal, his only real opportunity came on career week when he heard a pilot speak about how he could move his family about with every assignment to another country and he clung to the ideal with every fiber of his being. Then his eleventh birthday came and this man came telling him of magic and that he was a wizard and some bullshite like that. He very nearly closed the door in the man's face least it be some sort of plot from the police when he turned their living table into a pig then turned it back right. He told Wren about magic and about how he was given entrance to this magical school all the way in Scotland. It all sounded too good to really be true, especially when he looked at everything he would need and all that he could and couldn't bring. He couldn't leave his sister with his mother and Him, she wouldn't survive! But if he didn't go he couldn't carve out a life for them far away from the crap filled one that they already had. Plus he hated to admit the thrill of adventure was strong, but he had Anwen to worry about. So he struck a deal with her father, if he let him leave and go off to this prestigious school (the man had made his invitation look like one to one of those fancy boarding schools) that every break he would come back and earn his and Anwen's keep so he couldn't do the toddler wrong. It was dangerous, he was essentially selling his soul, but he had to.

              SCHOOL YEARS
FIRST YEAR School is ******** weird. Being a wizard is pretty screwy on its own but the school and the odd people in it...it definitely heightens the weird. Whatever. He could deal with weird for six more years.
SECOND YEAR This year was thankfully so far from exciting and it was just the way he liked it. Now if only he could get these damn puffernutters to leave him the hell alone.
THIRD YEAR Nothing of real importance happened until the summer. His mother jumped ship stealing all his money along with some of Derri's and his drugs. The man went crazy and even attacked him and it resulted in him killing Derri in self-defense. Not that he saw it that way. He ran with his sister hoping the cops wouldn't find them and ended up in Hogsmeade where they were found and taken in by his boss' family. They're all sorta weird but Anwen likes them so, that has to count for something.
FOURTH YEAR Was odd. It was weird being taken care of and not having to worry about how his sister would be actually cared for. He still felt awful for what he had done, so much so that he hadn't been able to sleep the first few months at school. But he was slightly better, if only so he could study for his tests next year.
FIFTH YEAR Was pretty normal. Which was weird for him. He was made prefect for no goddamn reason and while he wasn't horrible at it he still wasn't what someone would call "likeable." Plus there were these odd feelings for a Ravenclaw he was dealing with, it was just an odd year.
SIXTH YEAR Wren gave back his prefect status and suggested it go to another guy, which it should've in the first place, and went back to being a regular student. For a little while. Unfortunately the newspaper he was part of tanked and the editor ran out on them along with the remaining staff, and due to a brief moment of insanity he asked if he could take it over and it was granted. So now he was editor and leading a new paper and it wasn't as painful as he had originally thought.
SEVENTH YEAR Studying for his NEWTs were horrific and Wren wasn't even sure he was half a person by the end of it. But he did what he'd promised himself and graduated with pretty good grades. All that was left was finding a place to stay and a good job and he'd be set for a live of simple mediocrity. Bliss.

POST GRADUATION Wren contemplated staying with Ken and Ver for all of three seconds before he decided he needed his own space. He had planned to take Anwen with him, since the entire point of her staying there was because she couldn't stay with him, but the idea had gotten smacked down. He had argued of course, vehemently but after all his yelling and scowling he had to agree with Ken. Anwen had gotten accepted into this good school nearby and even with apparition he wasn't sure he could keep his hours and her school hours together. Or separate or whatever. So he moved out into a decent flat and began the luxurious job of pushing papers.

              ■ CURIOUS Her brother calls it nosy but she likes to know what's happening in the world around her. Especially if it concerns her family like her mummy and Ree.
              ■ FRIENDLY She loves being nice to everyone, everyone deserves at least a hug and smile is what she believes. And she would go ahead and give it if her brother weren't so much of a spoilsport. She thinks everyone is supposed to be that way and always scolds her brother if he's being rude.
              ■ FAIR Anwen believes in fairness right down to splitting a bag of skittles into three separate parts so she could share with her friends. With her it's equality or equality because literally nothing is more important.
              ■ NAIVE Despite her early living conditions, Anwen still maintains an innocence about the majority of the world; wanting to believe the best of people rather than the worst.
              ■ STUBBORN Anwen will dig her heels into the dirt if she doesn't want to do something or go somewhere. After a very proper scolding from her brother once she never throws tantrums but she will do a very thorough silent treatment if needed.
              ■ SPIRITED Once she finds a cause to believe in, Anwen will jump headfirst doing everything she can to further it. Whether it be math, speech, or even combating outdated formal uniform attire at her school.

CHILDHOOD Anwen was born to her unmarried parents and was only kept to help further her father's plot to hide his illegal dealings from the police. Most of the child rearing was done by her young older brother Wren who took on the role of mother and father. She just thinks her parents are just too tired from all their working to really take care of her. It definitely explains why she finds her mum passed out on the couch some days when she's picked up from primary. All of her clothes and toys and bedding came from church donations and rummage sales and her prized possession is an actual ballerina Barbie doll. She carries her everywhere she goes and when she's feeling particularly shy around someone she will converse with her to keep from talking to someone else. She also has an amputeddy, a teddy bear with a missing arm and eye patch which her brother told her he got from saving his last little girl in a fire and that he was the second best protector of little sisters everywhere. Besides big brothers of course. Anwen was given the teddy when Wren had to leave for a special school all the way in Scotland and makes sure she always has it with her. Along with her Barbie.

Her brother had told her that even though he was gone at school, life for her would be better. And it was for a little while. Her daddy still gave her odd looks but he gave her a little more food than usual, her clothes weren't always as dirty, her bed even gained a few extra blankets. For a few years things were fine. But then a few days before school let out after her second year her mummy left and no one knew where she went. Her daddy got really angry when he found out a few days later and she got scared and hid in her bedroom until she fell asleep. She was woken up by her brother Wren who also looked really scared and he told her they had to leave too. He packed up everything in her backpack and carried her outside where they rode on this really crazy magic bus to a town all the way in Scotland. There they met their new friends the Holts and she and her brother started living with them. She'd been afraid at first that it would be one of those group home things that her brother warned her about but Mr. Kenneth and his wife and brothers were so nice about everything!

2038 - Anwen graduated from her primary school with not only top scores but also acceptance to a highly credited secondary school. It even had guilds like her brother's school! Upon taking the entrance exam and an interview by the deans she had been classed in Phoenix which suited her just fine. Everything had been going wonderfully until her brothers had this gigantic row, about her of all things! Wren had been planning to get a flat and take her with him so they could live like before. Hopefully not completely but still, while Ken was completely against it. He said she deserved to stay where she was comfortable and to go to her new school, which would've been a whole lot harder if she lived with Wren. Yate was only a few blocks away from Ken's home, she could walk if she really wanted, while where Wren wanted to go she'd have to do that apparition thing and she really didn't want to go through that again. Three years was more than enough! In the end though, Wren agreed and moved out, she feels sorta bad because they're living separately, for good almost!, but both men assured her that he'd still be there and even attend her mathlete competitions. She wonders if Wren knew Di had been to most of them this past year. Maybe she'd let it be a happy surprise.

              SCHOOL YEARS
YEAR SIX Anwen's first year at her new school was the most amazing thing she's pretty sure she'd ever experienced ever. She was sure that it was the closest to an actual magical school she'd ever really encounter, but she was fine with that because everyone tells her magic and electricity doesn't work right and she'd miss the internet. Still though, she's begun to blossom at her new school and has already made a few new friends.
YEAR SEVEN Her second year was just as amazing (to her) as the first! She knew her way around campus allot better so she wasn't as lost as she was before and though her scholastic team didn't go as high as she wanted, she was still praised by many of her teachers for her wit, which was always nice.
YEAR EIGHT School's been pretty great! She got really involved in speech after history lesson where they had a mock Parliament and quickly found herself involved in the speech and debate club. She couldn't do as many meets as she wanted since mathletes still took up most of her time, but the few she got to sit in and watch definitely had her interested. Well that and Di but she feels too shy telling her brother's girlfriend that.
YEAR NINE Boys have started staring at her which is really started creeping her out. Of course she knows why, between all of her brothers, Ver, and even Di she knows the in's and out's of puberty and what it's doing not only to her body but the chemical cesspool that was a teen boy's mind, but that doesn't mean she suddenly has to enjoy it! Or stand by and let it happen! She's thinking about doing either a petition or a sit in since she witnessed one of her friend's get a dressing down by an administrator for her knee highs being "too distracting." The actual nerve!
YEAR TEN Anwen went ahead with her sit in protest of how girls were being bullied for basically following dress code. Nothing really big came from it, but she at least guaranteed mandatory sensitivity training for all boys years nine and up. She had argued for all but they had pretty much told her she should be happy with what she got. Well then! They should just be happy with the long counter-suits she'd be throwing at them in the future!
YEAR ELEVEN This year, their protest rose in numbers and got a feature in the local paper so she and her fellow students were able to offer their opinions on the charter dress code. Anwen didn't get the magical solution she wanted, but girls were now able to wear leggings under their skirts if they so chose and even shorts in hot conditions. And she managed to score a silver medal in her nationals mathlete competition!
YEAR TWELVE In her final year, Anwen amped everything up times twenty; at any point or time in the day either a book or a tablet could be seen in her hand as she studied and read all that she could. Her plans for the future had changed a bit and for the better if she sad so herself. She took her petitions back to the school board as well as a copy of her competitive speech about the internalized misogyny of school girls and how it impairs their futures (she won 4th place which was hardly any fair but she supposed with that topic she was lucky she hadn't been kicked out) but did score a gold medal finally at her mathlete nationals and was able to visit Buckingham Palace. On an even brighter note, she had succeeded in getting accepted to Oxford University to which the sky is not even the limit for her.

POST GRADUATION Anwen is very excited about her next stage in life and extremely excited about it being at the Oxford (she still can't believe it!) that she kept packing and unpacking her bags since the beginning of the summer. She was saddened that this meant leaving her family, if only for a few months at a time, but hoped Ken could make and freeze enough chicken that if she got homesick it would only take a short zap in the oven to make her feel at home.
