Shopping was good. It was, like, familiar? But also very calming, because she got to pick what look she wanted. Nell had her whole closet organized by style and season: here fall, here winter, here street fashion, there dinner-with-the-parents, there date night. That was all well and good, but picking out a whole new outfit could really lift somebody's mood. Even if they were picking out an outfit in Zara, which was a retailer that Nell would usually never be caught dead in. They were too Florence Welsh, too hippie-flower-crown, and Nell was more about the black bodycon sparkles aesthetic. Still... she'd seen some nice stuff online in the lookbook, so she'd decided to poke her head in.

She had a (small) armful of clothes already, a striped tunic dress, a goldenrod-bright skater dress... but now she was eyeballing their selection of black dresses. And there one was, with a sort of Janelle Monae-vibe that Nell found pretty interesting. When she reached out for it, her hand collided with another girl's.

Her blue-violet eyes narrowed, but only for a moment. "Hey," she said. "Nice dress, right?"

Kristen needed retail therapy; some hardcore retail therapy.

It had been an intense week and like Nell, the familiarity of shopping was anchoring her, proving there was still some normality to be found in being a super hero.

The redhead had put her little brothers to work, both her currently sat outside with an ice-cream each, sitting on a bench with the bags of clothes she had already invested in. There was going to be a haul up on the channel tonight. Kristen's parents were always telling her to spend more time with the twins, that they all needed to spend some time bonding as siblings - and she was sure this counted, right?

She glanced through the window; they were still there, behaving as far as she could tell. Distracted, she did not even see the girl next to her. So when she reached for this one particular outfit she was shocked when her hand touched something warm and soft.

It made her pull it back to her chest quickly.

"I am sorry!"
She exlaimed; her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Cyan eyes darted away for a second; but when she looked back towards the girl; her panicked expression turned into an intense stare - the cogs in her brain turned and sought out data. She knew this girl...

"You're Nell!"

Nell got brand recognition. She did. She just honestly didn't think anyone would recognize her in Destiny City from a failed cable show, some commercials, and a few indie movies. Time slowed down as she heard the other girl's greeting, and she blinked owlishly: once. twice.

Then she picked back up, a charming smile sliding onto her face. "That's me," she agreed, sticking out a hand for the stranger to shake. "What's your name, stranger?"

Kristen was not one to be underestimated when it came to her knowledge of people in the public eye; the small fish of today were the big fish of tomorrow and she wanted in on that ride. Every Oscar winner started out on indie productions; working for the publicity with low or no pay.

That knowledge helped her take advantage of situations like this one. Kristen smiled and took the girls hand. "My name is Kristen - I am a partner on Youtube." She introduced herself before releasing the girl from her grasp. She was very aware that she must have sounded stalker-ish, but networking came with the territory.

Her attention went back towards the garment that had brought them together; she looked down the rail and was pleased to see there were multiples in each size. "What size are you looking for? This dress is indeed; very very cute."

"Oh," said Nell, who now had a lens through which to view the whole interaction. This wasn't fannish stalking--this was networking--and Nell was a champion networker! "I'm usually a two," she said, peering at the dress and reaching out to one of them to feel the fabric. Stiff and starchy, it reminded her of the dresses she wore in one of her more recent roles. Probably that would ease up after a good washing... or maybe it was just going to be one of those hell-dresses that were good for publicity and nothing else. She frowned at it. "Gotta say, I don't really follow YouTube so much. Other than cat videos my mom forwards to me? I mean." She shrugged, nonchalant. "It's not a big part of my social media presence."

It could be, though. And maybe she could use this new friend to get started...

"It wasn't a big part of mine until recently. I started on Instagram; but I found that the deals you get on there are more one off payments or rewards. Youtube is more of a consistent income."

Not that she really needed that; the Baskerville name ensured she would never go without anything she wanted. Her instagram had started out as a hobby; a snap here and there and people would compliment her and she would feel good about herself. She had grown up on it and now it was more than a hobby to her; it was something she had worked hard on. Her own little empire that was separate from the success of her parents.

She smiled; cat videos were the best. "Making yourself accessible to a new audience is never a bad thing, no?" It was more work; but it had grown her subscribers - and landed her deals that were inaccessible to her before.

She took two dresses of the rails with a large smile; nudging her head towards the dressing rooms. "Looks like we are in luck; a pair of twos! Now come on. I have to see you in this dress, you will look amazing - and you can fill me in to why you are in Destiny City, exciting new project?"

Nell did know Instagram. Maybe she'd even followed Kristen? She wasn't sure, though... that wasn't something she spent a lot of time coordinating, either. She mostly did Twitter, since it seemed a lot more intuitive. "I'm not really worried about my income," she said. "More worried about dying in the child star ghetto." With that pithy statement and a winning smile, she swept off towards the dressing room.

As she changed into the first of her pile of dresses, she spoke over the wall. "Not half likely. I'm here for school, actually, on the downlow? I failed junior year twice on purpose, I just had to get out of the industry for a while. Stuff, you know?" She buttoned the very top button of the tunic dress, frowned and undid the top two. No, this was not her look. She shed that and tossed it onto the dressing room bench. "I guess you live here?"

"That is not going to happen." She tried to reassure her; even though the redhead was fully aware of how cut-throat the industry was. Truth was she had no idea if this girl was going to make it or not, Hollywood was not known as the land of broken dreams for no reason.

Inside her own changing room she slipped inside one of the dresses she got off the rail; she twirled and eyed herself in the mirror. She was certain she could make anything look cute.

"Which school have you enrolled in? I am graduating this June from Crystal; going to DCU in September. I can tell you all the best places to hang out!" One of those places was infact her house; where there was a theme party every month that attracted hundreds of people. The Baskerville Bash had been a tradition for going on three years now and the crowd had only grown with it.

Sometimes grades had to suffer for your art; keeping up to it all at once was near impossible. She took off the first dress and then leant to grab a sweater and skirt combo she had found on the sale rail. "Yea, I hear you." Her voice was muffled as she pulled the item of clothing over her head.

"I live near here. It takes me about an hour to drive into the Academy every morning; and that is not exactly central. My parents wanted to experience country living but still have a city environment in arms reach." She explained. "Their business is here too, so."

"It will if I don't graduate high school," said Nell. "I'm going to Meadowview; my dad wanted me to go to Crystal, but I don't want to dorm anywhere. I'm seventeen, I'm not a child." Okay, except legally she was a child, because the law was stupid. "I'd like that. My brothers live here, but the one doesn't like me and the other has a girlfriend and classes. Not much time for the annoying little sister."

Nell tugged the tight little black number over her butt and turned to the side. Probably if her mother saw her dressed like this, there would be lectures. It looked good, though. It'd look better with some gold jewelry, which was exactly the way she liked it. "What do your parents do? My dad's a governor and my mom manages actors. Kinda makes sense, I think."

"Your head seems to screwed on for that; I am sure now you have the chance to focus it will be a cake walk. You show them, Nell." She tried to be reassuring, confident in the fact is she herself could make her way through school. anybody could. Kristen was not talented, she was not smart, but she had managed to crawl through school by determination alone.

Nell would be fine, she was confident about that.

When the topic turned to siblings she could not help roll her eyes. "I have two little brothers; twins, just turned fourteen. I kind of envy those people who are super close to their siblings, but I think some people just find it harder to do that than others." All she knew was, those little boys waiting for her, they were clearly mixed up at the hospital. They were spawned from some breed of demon that she wanted no part of. She was outnumbered; and most of the time outwitted.

Kristen came out from the stall; once again wearing her own clothes. The redhead took out her phone so they could swap numbers, she could not leave the little terrors alone for too much longer. "They work in game development; though to be honest they spend more time investing in external start ups then making their own material. There company is called Re-imagined, they made a survival horror series a while about called Hybrid Hallow." And the money from that title alone had kept them living a life of luxury.
