 He had left his cave once more in what he believed was becoming a pointless endeavor. Why did he continue to associate his loneliness with being permanently single? Star Blayze was beginning to suspect that he was doomed to remain alone in this lifetime. It was not for a lack of trying. When in the presence of mares he was courteous and charming and yet it always ended up that he would leave the area alone. It was very disheartening.
Shaking his mane out Star opened his wings and took to the air. He was going to head in the direction of a fragrant meadow. There would be time for a quick graze before he would head to another destination that he was sure would be more populated. The stallion kept an eye on the ground below as he flew. The meadow was a far distance from the cave but the trip would be worth it just for the beauty that would be found in the flowers that were bound to be popping up.

 Aiyana had been traveling around, finding where she fit in. While she was walking, the sweet aroma of flowers filled her nostrils. She loved blooms of every kind, so she decided to follow her nose and see where it led her. Trotting through the trees, she soon broke out in a meadow filled with all kinds of colors. Her pale green eyes drank up all the different flowers, the smells swirling around her. She headed over to a patch and laid down, deciding this would be a perfect place for a rest. Her hooves were killing her and she just wanted to get a moment to catch her breath, before she headed out again. She closed her eyes and began to drift off to a peaceful sleep, the flowers bringing her comfort.

As the wind ruffled his wings Star Blayze became aware that his destination was just up ahead. The stallion had been flying at a steady clip and was beginning to feel his muscles burn with the effort to keep aloft. He had made this trip seldom before but this was the first outing after the past winter. Warmer temperatures had chased away Winter's gloom and he was glad to feel the sun warming his back as he made his descent.
Approaching the ground Star angled his legs to take the brunt of the impact and he gave a grunt as his hooves absorbed the shock of meeting the ground. Stepping gingerly helped alleviate some of his momentarily discomfort as he pressed forward through the trees. He knew that the walk would ease the discomfort in his wings and feet. Passing the last of the trees Star Blayze entered into the meadow and inhaled deeply the scent of growing flowers. He had been right. The meadow was indeed dotted with a multitude of blossoms. The stallion nosed at a patch of blooms at his feet before pushing further into the fragrant air. His eyes swept the clearing before landing on a form that seemed to not belong. What was this? Star's gaze narrowed on the object that seemed out of place in the meadow. Quietly he stood gazing before his brain made the connection; another Soquili was sleeping in a bed of colorful blossoms. Hesitation made his steps falter as he began to close the distance between himself and the stranger.

Aiyana's ears flicked forward from within her nest of pink curls, they were picking up on the faint sounds of someone approaching. The hesitation was noted, as the white and blue mare wondered if she should open her eyes. On the one hand, it could be someone just passing through, but it could also be someone who might want to talk. After a moment more of debate, she finally lifted her eyelids, revealing the green eyes beneath. She looked around, before she noticed a stallion approaching very cautiously. Lifting her head, her pink ringlets flounced softly on her head.
"Hello,"she greeted gently.

At first the sight of a mare's delicate features had Star frozen in his tracks. He had not expected to find company on this day. The feeling that he was prey swept over him before vanishing and Star Blayze had to just wonder what that was all about. Surely he was not afraid of a member of the opposite gender. Scoffing internally at his ridiculous behavior the stallion dipped his head towards the mare in a sign of respect. At her gentle greeting, one that was almost inaudible, his ears pricked forward to catch every word that she spoke. Realizing that there were no more Star took another step towards the mare.
His own voice was rusty from a lack of use but he chanced speaking anyway. "Hello,"
It was like he was a parrot. He gave a great sigh before trying again. "Pleasant greetings to you miss. I'm sorry if I've intruded on your sanctuary."

Aiyana kept her soft green orbs on the stallion, seeing if he was going to say anything. When he dipped his head in her direction, she couldn't help but think how very polite he was. Then came his greeting, she could tell he was not used to speaking. She wondered if she should do most of the talking or encourage him to do so himself. When he spoke again, she gave a musical laugh, letting him know that she did not mind his presence here at all.
"Oh, you do not need to apologize. I do not own the area, so anyone is free to enjoy its beauty. After all the traveling I have been doing, I just laid down to rest my weary legs,"she explained.

Hearing the laugh that the mare gave after he finished speaking Star's ears went back. That was not the reaction that he was expecting. However the laughter soon died and the mare began speaking again and suddenly Star Blayze realized that she was not laughing at his earlier sentence. Relaxing he gave a soft sound, like a soft murmuring, before his ears once again returned to their normal upright state.
The stallion chuffed softly before acknowledging that it was again his turn to speak. "I am relieved that I have not disturbed you."
Feeling the need to elaborate Star Blayze found his gaze circling the meadow. "I have come here once or twice before to enjoy the serenity that I find. I have never stumbled across anyone before in my earlier visits. I find this area to be very peaceful. I apologize, to whom do I have the honor of addressing?"

Aiyana saw his ears go back, had she said something or done something wrong? Her eyes were filled with concern, she certainly had not meant to offend the stallion, if that was what she had done. When he finally spoke once more, she felt some relief wash over her, listening to him explain he had visited here before. At the mention of never seeing anyone here before, she wondered why. It was a beautiful place, she expected some to live here.
"As lovely as it is, I expected someone must live near here or something. I am just a wanderer, looking for where I belong. And oh forgive me, where are my manners? My name is Aiyana,"she introduced herself, with a gentle bow of her head.

There was something unfamiliar about this scenario that Star couldn't place his hoof on. There was a certain strangeness that Star Blayze always felt when he was around others that he could not place aside. That feeling though was not present at this meeting. His ears came up from their pinned position and they pricked forward when the mare introduced herself. There was no hesitation in her reply for him to doubt that there were any lies in her response.
Star Blayze let the silence rush in after Aiyana finished speaking. His gaze took in the meadow around them and a faint smile appeared. This had always been his special place but Star had never really thought of the land as his. He also knew that no one else ever stayed for long periods. There were pros and cons to such a location. It was oft talked about and thus was not a secret place at all.
"I think that, from what I've heard, that perhaps there is a feeling of uneasiness associated with this place. It isn't exactly a secret and I am pretty sure that it would be a common stop for predators to sniff around," Star stopped talking as he did not wish to upset the mare. Instead he hoped that an exchange of names would mean she would not dwell on the negative aspect he'd mentioned. "It is a pleasure to meet you Aiyana. My name is Star Blayze."

Aiyana didn't know why, but she felt really calm around this stallion. She watched his ears swing back forward and that made her feel even better. Silence filled the area for a small bit, but it was not one of those uncomfortable silences at all. She saw the smile come to his lips and it made one of her own slide into place. Her eyes were on him as he looked deep in thought before his voice finally broke the silence. She listened as he explained why people might avoid the place, which caused her pale green eyes to widen in surprise. Then a thought occurred to her, just as he introduced himself.
"You have a very beautiful name, that matches you quite well. It is very nice to meet you, Star Blayze. As for the meadow, I suppose that is possible, but predators are all over. So I do not see why the beauty of such a place should go to waste,"she explained thoughtfully.

At least this meeting seemed to be going well. Star Blayze was not the best judge of what was deemed well but this mare, Aiyana, had not walked away from him yet. The stallion shied as he briefly remembered a vague memory of another who had been the same. There was nothing to really recall her to mind as it had been such a long time since they parted. Star Blayze allowed himself a moment to collect his thoughts after Aiyana finished speaking. "I believe I must thank you for your compliment Aiyana. I also could the same about your name."
As Star Blayze followed the meadow's natural line he nodded in silent agreement to the mare's words. "You do speak truth on both accounts. Predators are everywhere. I just think that they would love to use this place as an ambush location," he paused and thought about his attachment to the place. "But you are right. This place is too beautiful to waste."
Feeling as if the conversation was going well the stallion peered sidelong at Aiyana. "I know you mentioned that you were traveling and had come to rest here but where might have you been traveling to? Is there any particular destination you are heading too"

Aiyana said nothing as it seemed he was thinking of something, she just waited for him to finish with his thoughts. She smiled when he thanked her for her compliment, inclining her head as he returned the favor. She allowed her head to follow where it was looking, it was true this could be used as a vantage point for an ambush. However, if it was well guarded, she could see this as a place a herd could prosper. She was sure her family would have loved this place, had they survived. The stallion's words brought her out of her thoughts and she tried to think of how to answer that.
"I truly did not have a particular destination in mind. Just a place that felt right to me. You see, my family was killed in a fire when I was just a filly. I need somewhere to belong again,"she spoke. Truth be told, she was tired of living on her own.

Star Blayze felt the heaviness of the mare's simple statement. It must have been rough for Aiyana dealing with the loss of her entire family. The stallion had only really lost one mare that had been important to him. He could not recall her name though after the passage of time that had occurred. It was with an almost gentle air that Star moved forward. He hoped that Aiyana would not mind his next gesture. Slowly he moved and placed his neck just over Aiyana's.
"I am so sorry for your loss. You must have been through a lot."
Star took a long look around the meadow again. The fragrant air soothed his mind and he gave a soft sigh, "There is something at work in this place that I've found heals restlessness. Perhaps it is right that you have found this place."

Aiyana had not noticed Blayze had drawn nearer, having been trying to keep the tears from spilling from her eyes. So when he placed his neck over her's, it took her by surprise. However, she realized it felt really good, leaning her head gently into him. Then the tears she had been fighting softly flowed down her cheeks, not able to hold them in any longer.
"I think you are right, this place called to me. I have never found a place that spoke to me like this. I already started envisioning what it would be like to live here. If it wasn't for Yamka and now Hoshi...I don't know where I would be. Thank you...for the comfort,"she managed a soft smile.

Star Blayze did not dare move away from the leaning Aiyana. The reason was more logistical than anything. If he were to move he could upset Aiyana's balance and that was one thing that he did not wish to do. He pricked his ears forward at Aiyana's words and when she dropped the two names he wondered briefly who they were to Aiyana. At the moment he was willing to let the thought of asking fall to the wayside.
Instead he replied to Aiyana's thanks. "You are entirely welcome Aiyana. I am glad that I was able to offer you some comfort."
The stallion sighed before gently shifting his weight and then stepped away. He did it gradually so that Aiyana would realize what was going on and would not be likely to fall over.
Silence fell over the clearing and Star Blayze cast his gaze around the clearing. Plans of leaving were not high in his mind anymore.
