Ever remembered where Rep's room was easily enough to come a-knocking, and he did it without a lick of fear that Harrison might be there with a weapon aimed at his head. That might have been more to do with Ever's cluelessness than any kind of self-confidence; he settled in against the doorframe to wait for some kind of reply, absently adjusting the new coat around his waist, head tipped to peer down the hall back toward his own new digs. He looked skinny, which wasn't new, but maybe it was skinnier than usual, and paler than usual, and just a bit distracted. If Rep opened the door, he'd probably miss it, for just a moment.

Rep almost ignored the door being knocked at first, sprawled in a lazy and somewhat depressed mess on the couch, dressed in nothing but an old torn pair of denims and some socks. He was hunched over the laptop and sitting on a duvet he'd dragged in from the bedroom and thought of getting up was the mental equivalent of dragging a heavy boulder up a hill.
But - he reasoned - it could be Mark or someone important who if ignored would probably just end up demolishing his door. He didn't want Harrison to have to pay for a new door, so he closed the laptop with a clip and sighing he rose from his nest to wander over and crack the door open. His hair needed brushed, more wild and unruly than usual and a chaotic shock of red and white.
The room itself was in complete darkness with the curtains closed and no lights on, he just - as usual - hadn't noticed this fact in the slightest thanks to the dagger hung on a black chain at his chest.
His mouth set in a thin moody line when he spotted Ever on his doorstep, immediately defensive. He opened the door more than the crack it was and barked."What?" at the other man, crossing his arms, suddenly beset by a very rare bout of self consciousness at having no shirt on. "The ******** are you after?"

There was a moment, taken aback, in which Ever thought something [ he looks like s**t] but successfully managed to swallow it down -- just staring at Rep in a baffled sort of silence for a long moment while he gathered his wits about him. Dark eyes dipped, briefly, to the dagger around Rep's neck -- dipped just a hair lower -- and then flicked back up to his face. Well. It wasn't like Ever looked much better, shaggy and desperately in need of a haircut, his hair halfway covering his eyes, all of his clothing a hair too big. Not his place to comment anyway. So he just smiled a little, as ever, and raised his eyebrows. "You're exceptionally strong. I need someone to move something really heavy from my room downstairs to my room up here." He paused. "I'm not sure how I would repay you, though..."

Rep hadn’t seen Ever in a bit and given the other man’s slightly hollowed out appearance he found himself briefly wondering if they’d had him stationed in some far flung and awful base. Given his own situation he realised this didn’t even really need to be the case, people got plenty traumatised even just being on the island.
The prospect of moving heavy things, despite his lack of willpower to do anything, felt appealing in an almost masochistic way, Tracey in his thoughts, stirred and supported the idea, bored of staring at a computer screen for hours and keen to get out and about.
“You don’t need to repay me.” Rep said wearily, resisting the urge to state that there was a very specific and demeaning way that Ever could have repaid him lest the other man actually take him up on it.
Turning, he headed back into the room and grabbed his keys and shoes, sitting heavily on the couch where he’d been to put them on. The room was a localised disaster, mostly around where Rep had been sitting, though for a change there were no snack wrappers scattered around – he was still in a huff about Harrisons comments regarding his high calorie diet. Primarily the room looked spartan and unlived in, as if he and ostensibly they had just moved back in.
“What sort of heavy s**t?” he asked curiously.

"Uh, well --" He stood in the doorway and snooped, not exactly surreptitiously: taking in all the messy little details, his eyes narrowed and scratching absently at the side of his head while he considered how to set up this disaster of a request. "Before you judge, just hear me out," was where he settled, one hand raised carefully as he refocused on Rep. "Because the rack, that's from when I was in the basement, and the iron maiden was a gift, and so I want them for nostalgic purposes." But then he paused, just a moment. "Mostly."

Rep let Ever talk but he couldn't help judging even before the other man finished speaking. He'd figured the rack would end up seeing some kinky use and frankly he didn't blame the other guy too much for that, an iron maiden well, that was more inexplicable.
Heading out of the room as dressed as he got (he'd pulled a pair of shoes on and hadn't bothered to put on a shirt in the end because none were clean), he smirked at Ever.
"I ******** knew you were a kinky b*****d." he shut the door while he talked. "I'll help you move your ******** sex dungeon."

The smirk perked Ever up thoroughly: turned his smile into a full on grin as he stepped back out of the way, hands shoved into his pockets. He didn't deny any of it -- in fact, Rep was lucky he didn't take it and run with it. Instead he just shrugged, taking another step back, fingers curling around keys. "Well. So long as you'll help me move it." And he sounded almost cheerful about it. "The iron maiden made a really great closet."

"I like my clothes without a whole ******** bunch of holes in them." he said at the idea of an iron maiden closet. "And I don't mind moving s**t either, I've been shut in that room for way too long, missions have been thin on the ground."
And that was always concerning, the grail was still out there doing something and it was his business to find out what, while not running afoul of Circe again.
"The ******** have you been up to?" he asked while they went.

There was just a beat, somewhat confused, before he answered that -- licking his lips and trying to find some sort of satisfying explanation. It settled with, "I don't know. I've got a gap." He flicked Rep a look as he said it, like he expected explosions or conspiracy theories or some other kind of unhappy response from the man. It would make sense, after all. Gaps meant missing time, and that could mean all kinds of nasty missing moments -- "They cleared me, though, so I guess I'm okay enough now."

"A gap?" Rep did hesitate and give the other man a concerned look. Gaps in memory were never a good thing on the island and could mean anything at all. He seemed to relax at the reassurance that he had been cleared by whoever was in charge, allowing that to reassure him out of a panic.
"I ******** got my mind ******** up by Circe." he said. "So I know the feeling, I forgot who I was. I don't have specific gaps but still. As long as you got checked out. Do you have any idea what could have caused it? Were you doing somethin when you lost your time?"
He shrugged. "I mean, no to ******** pry or anything, if its need to know mission s**t, nae bother."

"It was a mission." He swiped at his hair again, pausing at the top of the stairs to look back at Rep -- and, for the moment, he looked genuine, without any of the usual teasing or flirting or anything else that came with it. Ever looked uncertain, something that rarely crept through. "Massachusetts? They tell me anyway. I don't remember a lick of it." He hopped down one step, hesitated again, and then shrugged -- leading the way down to his old room. "I brought some papers back, but I can't make sense of them now."

Rep didn't like to ask a heap of questions really, but being in Death these days he picked up wind of all sorts of weird s**t and sometimes one random thread of seemingly nothing could be the thing which saved his life later when he was stuck in some hellish place with only a broken headset for advice. It made his natural curiosity more of a survival trait than it had ever been. Ever got a sympathetic look as Rep followed.
"Weird as ********." he said. "Any chance I could get a gander at the papers or did they take them? I've seen some weird ******** s**t lately, might be at least able to help if so."

"I have them, but they're at my desk." It got a curious look, though, somewhat surprised maybe: it was hard for Ever to imagine Rep doing work, and maybe that was unfair, but it was still an impression he couldn't quite wipe out. He trailed fingers down the railing as he went, mouth shifting, words tumbling for a moment before he put them right. "You could....come while I'm..." He gestured, a roll of one hand, and dropped down the final step. Hopefully Rep would get the impression.

Rep didn't like people to think he ever did anything more than whine on twitter, so he shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal. "Nae bother. I mean it's no a major thing, like just if its nae hassle." But his curiosity was seized and now he found himself really wanting to unravel the mystery of this whole thing. He felt there had to be more to it than the other man was saying, the slightly gaunt look about his edges not speaking of someone who had happily gotten rid of a problem. Maybe that was just his own paranoia clouding things though.
Deliberately he tilted his head in confusion as they hit the bottom of the steps. "While you are...? What?" His expression turned suspicious, not trusting Ever not to slip in a bit of innuendo in places where he could trip on it.

"Traveling -- no." Ever had to rub at his face for a moment, leaning against the wall. Words jumbled, now, half a dozen languages mixing themselves up in a way they never had before. It was like bobbing for apples to find the word in English, the one that Rep would understand. He worked his mouth, and then gave up, a hand raised in surrender. "When I'm at my desk." That worked. He started moving again, back down the hall toward 104.
