There was no denying it, Kristen was a workaholic. Guilty as charged.

She liked to keep busy; she liked to be productive and more than anything else she liked to feel like she had purpose. Due to start DCU in September, she soon realised that there were three days during the week where she had no classes - and the thought was mortifying. Whereas most people would enjoy the time off but Kristen knew she did not do well when given too much free time.

She would have to get a part time job, well a second part time job, there was no doubt in her mind. Besides, it would be good for her to gain experience in a field which actual required some form of social interaction. She was way too used to working alone in her room. For a social butterfly like her it really was admittedly demoralising, at least at times.

So she had arranged an interview at a tattoo studio after a friend told her they were looking for a receptionist and general house keeper. It sounded like a pretty awesome idea as far as she was concerned, she loved tattoos and her organisation skills were one of her best qualities.

So the redhead turned up at the studio at the agreed time and made her way through the entrance. "Hello?"

Kor McKneil was in the back with a client, finishing up a two session tattoo that was well over four hours of inking and six hours of shading and coloring. It was a nice chunk of cash directly to pay the utilities on his place.

His hair was tied back into a fuzzy ball high on his head and just as he heard the bell for the door open, he put down the gun. "Well you're all finished," he murmured to the girl, grin on his face. "It's the absolute greatest tattoo I've ever done and a personal favorite." He laughed and cleaned off her arm before wrapping it. "Keep it lotion-ed up!"

They walked out to the front and he looked at the girl who'd walked in and held up a finger to her, giving her a wide grin. "Now. If you need touch ups, those are free. Just be careful because some colors tend to fade quicker than the others. Be very careful when you wash it. don't pick at the scabs that will form." Kor's eyes were dancing as he talked and then ushered her to the door. "Loved seeing you again. Come back any time!"

With the woman out of the door, Kor huffed and turned to the other one.

"Welcome to Eight and Half. How can I help you?"

Kristen stayed quiet as the man dealt with his client; leaning against the back wall and diligently watching the scene that was playing out in front of her. She was no stranger to client care, it was something she had learned as her own business grew.

When the other woman left she stood forward a bit and smiled, making her way over to the man who had come out the back.

"I am here about the job; actually. I hear you are looking for someone to be at the front of house." She went on to explain; her friend had mentioned it to her, but if it was true was another matter altogether.

She looked on at the man, running over his appearance quickly. Kristen was not shy about looking at people or making eye contact. Examining him with the same critical eyes that were just moments before running over the details of his workplace; after a moment she nodded - this seemed okay.

The student lifted her arm and held her hand towards the stranger with a small nod. "My name is Kristen."

The tall man looked her over and arched a brow. She was certainly confident enough as well as respectful. That was always a good sign. Kor grinned and took her hand, shaking it firmly. "Kor McKneil, owner. Yeah, I might be looking for someone for the front. It's just me and my fiance here, so we can't always be up here... She pierces, I tattoo," he explained, humming a bit.

"You don't look old enough to work. Gotta see some ID."

He released her hand and then just grinned again. "Take it as a compliment and not an insult, okay?" There were some women who took being asked for ID as a huge insult and he couldn't figure out why. Looking younger than your age was a good thing in most situations, wasn't it?

Being the daughter of an well off family meant Kristen was raised with certain rules and expectations; her confident and respectful nature were both symptoms of her upbringing.

Crystal Accademy was also a factor in that - people would be hard pressed to find a Crystal girl who was not sure of herself, even the shy ones had an air about them. "Well that is where I come in, you will not have to worry about up here, just about your respective crafts." She smiled, taking note of the fact he had a fiancée even though he did not mention a name. She would have to bring in a bunch of flowers for her; from experience women were harder to win over than men. She let go of his hand.

Kristen brought her bag from over her shoulder and pulled out her purse, before sliding her driving licence out of it. She had turned eighteen on Christmas Day. The student shook her head and smiled at his words, giving a small shrug in response. "I am not surprised, I get carded all the time. Though that reminds me, if there a place I can park around here? Somewhere off the main street?" She thought it was because of her hair, for some reason when girls had really long brightly coloured hair people assumed they were younger than they were. I guess some would expect them to get a shorter, more mature cut when they were nearing twenty?

She handed it to him. "No problem. I am starting my degree in September; but I am only there on a Monday and Tuesday - rest of the week and over the weekend, I could be yours."

Kor looked her over again, the confidence and respect she was showing was actually really nice. The man's head canted to the side as she spoke and he just hummed and nodded a little. "Interesting proposal." Not having to worry about the front of his store was definitely something he was loking for.

Then the bag was brought forward and she produced her ID and he looked it over with a careful eye. Oh, he knew what a fake ID looked like, but it wasn't one. With a smirk, he handed it back to her and then thought about the question. "I usually walk, but I'm sure you can find something close. It does get kind of crazy here, doesn't it?" Kor seemed a bit sheepish before shrugging.

"Okay. I'll work with your schedule if you have classes, and yeah. You seem competent enough. It'll be a breeze teaching you. Either I or my fiance will. She tends to the front now, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind a break, or even coming in later. Not exactly a morning person, if you know what I mean." He laughed a bit and then shrugged.

"Welcome to Eight and Half. I'll call you in later this week for the paper work and we'll discuss your salary and hours. Maybe Laine'll be here and she can go ahead and give you some on-job training."

Want to wrap this up in your next post? Or we can leaves it there~ :3

"It have just always been a bit of a commute into the city for me, parents wanted something a little more green." It was the truth; her parents wanted a garden and the pool and were willing to move into the middle of nowhere to get it. The only problem with that was that it was rather cut off from the main hub of the city, making patrolling a real pain in the backside. Kristen did have the option of moving into the dorms on campus; but was yet to decide if that was something she wanted.

If nothing else, being on campus would make her life as a magical girl a hell of a lot easier. She smiled at his words. Truthfully, she had no idea what he meant about his wife. Kristen was a morning, afternoon and evening person fuelled by a desire to succeed and enough Energy Drink to make most normal people worry about her health. Never-the-less, she nodded at his words.

"Sounds promising; take this. All my contact details are inside." Taking back her ID and rummaging in her bag once more, the red head pulled out a sealed envelope. On the back it was sealed with a stamp and wax - As an aspiring designer, it was hard not to put her personal touch on everything. Even her resume.

Placing a hand near her forehead, she gave a small salute - followed by a rather playful wink. More school girl than flirtatious. After all, the guy had a wife to be. Plus he was going to be her boss by the sounds of things and that was place not to be ventured, ever. "See you around then?"

He listened to Kristen talk about how her parents wanted more green for her and he shrugged. Kor didn't know about these kinds of things. The dark man was actually just glad to have a roof over his head that didn't have a bunch of drug crazed bums hanging around getting him evicted. (That might have happened more than once while he was a teenager.)

"Okay. I'll give you a call, then! My, you sure are professional." Kor might have been teasing her now and just waggled fingers at her.

"Take care!"
