It was bound to happen eventually.
With rumors of great beasts roaming the shores of Yael, many mainlanders flocked across the sea to capture the exotic beasts. In no time at all, they returned with large scaled monsters, dangerously translucent serpents, and turtles that carried the earth. These traders traveled across the Mainland to parade the beasts, going from Matori to Zena and everywhere between. Soon enough, everyone had either seen the Yaeli beasts or at least heard of them.
And they were sure to hear about the beasts when they escaped.
With such little knowledge of the foreign creatures, the traders underestimated the animals. In no time at all, the Yaeli beasts escaped into the wilderness and ended up near your location. With new creatures all but knocking on your door, what do you do? Do you dare to try and tame them, or do you run them off back into the wilderness? You better hurry, because these creatures are lost and scared, and are sure to cause some damage before they are captured once more....

The markets were where Zuri got the local gossip, they were really her only tie to the outside world at the moment. Normally it was boring gossip, and most of the time she was pretty sure that it was inaccurate, but it was still fun to listen to. It was nice to know what everyone was talking about now a days.
As she picked which fruit she wanted she listened to some of the other women talk about the beasts of Yael. She had heard that many of them now roamed the mainland, however she hadn't see any herself. So although she was sure that it could be true, she was a little skeptical to believe the rumors just yet. She would rather see one of the beasts herself first.

Stage 3 must roll 40-100 to successfully subdue the beast, 95-100 to keep it. Epic fail Zuri!
Nuawahn was fascinated by the concept of Yael and Yaeli. It didn't sound like a happy place, but all the same, there were people there and their eyes glowed! How much he had missed in the fog, how much he had missed while making the medicine. Every day was a wonder and he was happy, every day, to be alive and able to witness all the wonderful things around him. That meant, one day, he would be going to Yael.
But not yet.
Today, he walked through a fruit grove in Sauti, near a bustling market. He'd been told by a grateful orchard keeper to pick as much as he wanted after healing the man's daugher, and Nua was delighted to take him up on it...
Until a grunt sounded from behind him and he came face to face with a massive creature the likes of which he had never seen before.
Nuawahn yelped, flailing, and dropped the basket as he fled, the beast lumbering after him angrily. It was displaced. It hurt. It wanted to be away. And this thing had annoyed it.
"Help! Help!" Nuawahn cried, as he ran into the marketplace, summoning a wall between him and the gargantuan thing, "Help! I think it's after meee!"
Stage 3 must roll 40-100 to successfully subdue the beast, 95-100 to keep it. Not much better

She was listening to the ladies speaking when all of a sudden she heard screaming, and it seemed to be getting louder and louder.
Before she could do anything there was a boy running into a marketplace with not one but two strange creatures chasing him! Her eyes went wide as she summoned some ice magic and shot them towards the creatures. Everyone seemed to panic, people running everywhere.
"Are you okay?!" She called towards the boy as she ran towards him. The animals seemed to be disoriented but she wasn't sure they wouldn't' attack again. What were they, and where had they come from? It didn't matter much though, what mattered was getting to safety and making sure no one else got hurt.
Looking back at the beasts she was mentally kicking herself for not bringing her own animal companions with her and leaving them at the inn she was staying at.
Nuawahn had hoped he was just seeing double - sometimes that happened with the medication - but no. There were two beasts! Two of them! Massive, lumbering, and terrifying!
Ah! There was a nice lady! She seemed friendly and strong and maybe maternal and Nuawahn was sure that he would be protected. "I don't know!" Nuawahn said, running to stand slightly behind her. He gave himself a good check. "Yes!" he amended gratefully, "I'm okay! They just... they came out of nowhere!" his voice was a little shaky as he watched the beasts lumber forward in their confusion, "What are they?"

She looked the boy over as quickly as she could while still keeping the beast in her line of view. "I'm not sure... They don't look like any beasts I've ever seen."
The two beasts shook their heads. Most of the people had cleared out, while there were some standing and gawking at the beasts. "I think we should get out of here though. There is an inn near by that hopefully we could hide in until a beast tamer comes and calms them down." She had tamed beast but they weren't like anything she had ever seen before and she wasn't really willing to try her luck with them.
Nuawahn nodded fearfully. Yes - getting out of there was a good idea. Yes. He was very much behind that idea. "O... okay..." he said, trusting her completely.
*CRASH*
One of the creatures had decided that something - a fairly sturdy market stall - was in it's way. Suffice to say, the market stall did not last long as the beast thrashed against it.
"Gyaah!" he yelped, startled by the sound. Apparently, the beast heard him. It turned it's huge, long-jawed head towards them, shaking it's body in irritation. It's eyes were unreadable and intense, and Nuawahn shook, just on the verge of whimpering in his terror. "What do we do now... what do we do?!" He asked the nice, grown up lady, his voice a raspy whisper. She seemed to know what to do.

She was about to head towards the inn she mentioned when one of the beast crashed into a stall which such force that the stall was completely ruined.
The boy she was with yelped, gaining the two of them the attention of the animal. Running was now not an option, she was sure that would just bring the beast's attention more on them and cause trouble.
Taking the boys hand she whispered, "Move very very slowly okay? Unless you have to don't run, and try to stay behind me." She wasn't sure what she could really do, but her motherly instincts were strong even if she was no longer a mother.
He held her hand much like a child would - tightly, not for a better grip, but for security and reassurance. He nodded. Move very slowly - yes. Stay behind her - yes. He could do that. His eyes were wide and trusting as he looked at her - clearly, he had put his fate into her hands completely.
The beast's rampage did not stop - it crashed into another market stall, seeming to delight - or at least take it's wrath out on - the mess of posts and canvas. It snuffled at the now-remains of a food stall, eating something off of the ground before turning around... incidentally, again, right for them.
"I'm scared..." he whispered, his voice as tight and pathetic as the hand that gripped Zuri. He was scared, but surely, she would save him...

"Don't be. I have this all under control." She didn't. Not at all, but saying it would hopefully help both him and her feel more confident about the situation in front of them.
The beasts were huge, and breaking everything in sight. As much as she didn't want to kill them, she didn't want to be harmed from them either or let the younger boy, maybe more like a man, be hurt from them either.
When the beasts looked over at them she knew something different had to be done. Walking slowly wouldn't work.
"Okay, never mind my earlier plan. Run!" she pulled on his hand, making sure to hold on tightly to him so that he wouldn't fall behind.
Nuawahn trusted her as if he'd known her forever (and maybe he had. Maybe memories of her had been eaten by the fog, devoured away so that they were irretrievable even with the medication he took. Who truly knew?) and when she told him that she had things under control, he believed, firmly, that she did.
Somehow, even when whatever she was doing failed, even when she panicked, he still believed she knew what she was doing... and she didn't have to ask twice. Nuawahn ran, whimpering, holding her hand so he wouldn't lose her and be all alone.
The beasts lumbered after them, drawn by the movement and furious, still, at their traumatic capture. One bellowed a challenge, and Nuawahn squeaked. "Where are we running?!" he cried, looking to her - again - for direction...

She wasn't sure. They were running away from the beasts, that was for sure, but where they were going exactly she was not sure about.
Looking around she finally saw a sturdy looking building. It seemed to be able to handle the attack of the creatures, if the creatures decided to attack the building. "That one!" she called, trying to pull him forward some so that he would get into the building before she did. She didn't want him behind her so the monster could maybe attack him.
Yes. I agree XD Nuawahn is everyone's honorary adult child thing. They should hang out more.
Nuawahn didn't let go of her hand even as he followed her cues and ran forward and into the building, and his momentum pulled at her to drag her inside as well. He didn't know if it could stand up to the creature's assault, but it was better than running without a goal, or then being caught by the monsters and... eaten? Probably eaten. Nuawahn didn't know, and he didn't want to know.
He trusted her.
Once she was inside, he managed to calm his fear enough to pull out his magic. A wall of shimmering energy closed the 'door' behind them. "A... are we hiding now?" he asked her, his voice low and fearful.

She nodded. "Yes, hiding until the beast goes away. That's the kind of things for a beast master, not a magic wielder and a spearwoman." There was no way she was going back out there to face the beasts. There were two of them and although she was pretty strong in her own right she didn't think she could take down the beasts by herself. And if she was being honest he didn't look like he would be much help.
As she looked around she realized that they were in a tavern of sorts. "If anything we could just relax in here until it's taken care of.""I'm Zuri by the way."
Nuawahn nodded - that made sense. His eyes drifted to her spear, confirming that she was, indeed, a spearwoman. He had met lots of spear-people, he realized, the memories hitting him suddenly. He couldn't quite remember who they were, but, apparently, a lot. Maybe there was a pattern. Thinking about a pattern was better than thinking about the big monsters outside.
"I'm Nuawahn." he said. He was still frightened, but he tried to smile anyway. She was the boss. She knew best. If she said relax, then he would try. He would try to relax.
He offered her one of the fruits he had collected. "Do you want one?"
