Volkarosh, seeing what he was doing, assisted him without being asked. Soon he had adequate rope to put his necklace together, and once he did so, he rather liked the idea of having one for himself.
However, the carved tooth needed companions. Other teeth, or at least a few beads – plain things to help set it off. Or something like that. Ruelash did not understand the finer points of artistry, he just knew he liked it that way.
Volkarosh left him to his carving, doing other tasks around their humble little abode as the carving took up all of his attention. He did not, he realized, as a tooth he had been hoping to turn into a bead crumbled into useless powder in his hands, have the proper tools for such fine work. What he used were stones, chipped and formed into simple tools for simple, blunt tasks. They worked decently, to an extent, and a few carved, semi-circular beads and hole-bearing teeth were added to a growing pile of successful carved goods, but eventually, he threw up his hands and snarled in frustration. The pile of necklace pieces was knocked to the ground by his movements, only adding to his frustration.
He rose, pacing, like a trapped animal... which he was. The snow outside was now too much to move in without shoveling a path, and there was far too much snow coming down to warrant that. All he could do was clear a space enough to let air in, and it was this he did, aggressively, angrily. Furiously. Who knew that carving a necklace could be so exasperating?
He'd just wanted something fun to do with his time and here he was, bashing at a freshly deposited wall of snow. He scooped it into a jar to melt for water, before turning and seeing that, in the meantime, the kid had picked up all the necklace pieces and had ordered them neatly on a plank of wood.
