 The soft sound of rain hitting the water was soothing as Siren perched herself upon the shore, it wasnt often that she could do this without having to keep herself wet, but with the light rain, she didnt need to worry about it.
She had made herself a nice little home in this hidden cove, after a fight with her father, she had made the choice to find a place closer to Tengu and the cove was perfect, shallow enough in parts for Tengu to reach out and touch her when he came, and access to deeper waters should a predator come along and plenty of tasty things for her to eat, she was quiet happy in her new home.
It was as close to a home with Tengu as she could get, she smiled softly to herself. And she could explore the beach on days like today...awkwardly, but she managed it well enough...or well she thought she did.

 Since the day that Tengu had confessed the truth, and they had confessed their love, he didn't stay away. Flying down to Siren's cove each day that the weather allowed it.
Today was a day that he usually might not risk coming, wet wings were nearly impossible to fly with and light rain could change to a storm in an instant, but even still... today he wanted, no. He needed to risk it.
Flying down from the top of the cliff and spiraling down to the sand wasn't such a chore, going back up again might be impossible come evening. He didn't care.
Down on the sand he looked about for signs of Siren, maybe she'd be out in deep water visiting her family today... maybe he'd be alone on the beach, but he looked again, there she was. Tengu was once again struck breathless at her beauty, he couldn't help but stare, frozen on the spot, watching for a few moments as she explored.

She was still adjusting to the sounds outside the water, and well she didnt really pay the attention to them as she should, she continued to do little hops along the beach, pulling her tail under her to ready for each hop as she inspected random objects on the beach, shells with no life in them were amusing to her, she giggled as she put one back down.
She knew a mother turtle had laid eggs on the beach, and Siren felt a small bit of duty to check on the nest and make sure nothing disturbed the sleeping eggs under the sand.

His staring didn't last too long, it seemed she hadn't noticed him at all yet. Instead of calling out to her as he usually did upon arrival, this time he just decided to sneak up on her, if he could.
His pelt wasn't as flashy as some, but he didn't exactly blend into the wet sand and stormy sky either. Sodden wings tucked against his back and tail held low, he made his way to where Siren was inspecting a specific spot in the sand, crawling on his belly the last few yards.

She really was going to end up getting herself eaten one of these days, but she was used to predators in the deep, and those predators she didnt hear, she felt but on land, well it was very different.
She really should have heard him coming up on her, but she was to busy in making sure the sand on the eggs wasnt to heavy with the rain, but she didnt want to mess with the nest either.
"Why cant mother turtles stay around to do this hmm?" She asked out loud to no one in general. With a huff, she blew at her bangs and lifted her head and looked around, the sudden appearance of Tengu behind her scared a squeal out of her and caused her to jump a bit, her eyes wide.

Just before he was noticed, Tengu was poised to strike, well, pounce. Her startled squeal didn't stop his charge either, he laughed as he ran the last bit and stopped just before bowling her over, scattering sand every which way, wet wings splayed out.
"Your highness! Whatever are you doing out in such weather? You'll catch your death of cold, and sand," he teased in a high, nasal voice, dancing around her and kicking up more sand as he did so. "Or beasts!"
That concern was actually genuine, but at the same time, Tengu knew that as a creature of the deep herself, Siren already knew how to protect herself from what predators already might come after her, despite that he called her his princess, Siren was no fainting maiden.
"How fair you this rainy day, my lovely?" Tengu paused his silly antics for a moment and leaned in to press a kiss to her cheek.

She laughed and beamed a smile at him, before she tsked him softly. "Careful, theres a turtle next over here." She glanced back at the mound of sand before she shook her head laughing.
"Beasts such as yourself my sky prince?" She teased with a smirking brow wiggle before she churred softly at the kiss to her cheek, oh how he could make her heart twitch and flutter about like a fish caught in a net.
"Im actually enjoying this rainy day, its much easier to move about on the sand." She looked at his wet wings, and damp fur and a small pout formed. "But it doesnt seem to be having the same affect on you my love." She glanced around, there had to be a place dry for him to be instead of him getting soaked along with her.

"Oh, whoops," Tengu stopped messing around, he wasn't sure what a turtle was but he definitely knew what a nest was and he'd be damned if he stuck a foot in one, especially if Siren was doting over it. "Wait, where... this mound of sand, here?"
He moved to give it a good looking over. Curious. "Turtle... turtle. Ah, those, um..." The urge to lie, make up some story about knowing exactly what a turtle was and having slain magical fire-breathing ones in his adventures was right there on his tongue, but he swallowed it down, tilting his head.
"Yes, such as myself," he gave her a wink. "Why if I was a villain I could've snatched you right up and eaten you in one bite." Tengu gave a laugh and the nest a wide berth as he moved to her side once more.
He probably looked a fright with mud and sand covering his legs, and his wings and fur all bedraggled, but he was smiling, too happy to see her to care for his appearance. "Oh, it's just a little bit of rain, I'm not cold or anything... and look at the sky. It's not about to let up any time soon, so let's just have some fun together you and I. Let's play. What do you say?"
He put his head down and his tail in the air, wiggling it from side to side. Wings splayed out a little but held low. They were so wet and full of sand right now he wouldn't be able to fly if he wanted, that and the wet sand would give Siren an advantage.

"Turtles are these sea creatures, they have giant shells and no legs, only flippers, and well Im only a little bit bigger than they are as adults, but the come onto the sands, dig a hole and lay eggs and then go back into the sea." She explained, she knew plenty about the life in the sea, she had to if she wanted to survive in it.
"Are you going to eat me up?" She cooed softly with a playful gleam in her eyes as she nuzzled under his chin.
Her ears perked at playing a game, playing a land based game?! She had never, and now she wiggled with excitement. "What kind of game??" She tried to cover her excitement by trying to remain cool.

Once she explained how the turtle had come to lay her eggs in the sand and bury them, leaving them to fend for themselves, he made an extra mental note to take care around the nest mound. If that was how turtles did their business, they must need all the help they can get being alone from the start.
"And you'd probably be delicious too, princesses usually are. That's why dragons are always snatching them up, or so I hear." Tengu winked again before taking the playful stance, his tail flicking and swishing over the damp sand.
"Hhmmm, well? There's just the two of us, but we could play tag. Basically it's just a lot of running around trying to catch the other." He didn't know if she'd play it before with her many siblings, or if it was entirely too silly for just two of them, but it was fun as it was pointless, and she was too cute in her wiggling excitement.

"Then one of these days or nights, you'll have to tell me a story about these dragons." Siren was curious about all the different creatures that lived on land, and in the skies, there were so many! And honestly..her Tengu told the best stories fins down.
"Oh tag?!" She hoped around with a laugh, "I've played that, though you know...in the ocean." She bit her bottom lip as she then smiled at him. "Your it!" she exclaimed as she started to hop away as fast as she could of course, the thoughts of her awkward movements completely vanished from her mind.

"I could tell you such stories of dragons," Tengu grinned, there was a difference between dragons and dracoula, but in the telling it didn't matter so much, so long as it would make a good story.
That Siren already knew what tag was, wasn't a bad thing, meant they could get right into playing and he didn't need to explain. When she bit her lip, he thought she was going to ask for a new game but the sudden declaration of him being 'it' and Siren darting off. Tengu leaped after her. "Not for long!"

"Later you can tell me!" She said from over her shoulder as she laughed with delight, hoping along the wet shore as she tried to keep distance between them, if they were in the water it would a different story but none of those thoughts even crossed her mind.
Here she was, playing with the love of her life, in the pouring rain. She couldnt even feel the chill from the rain any longer, instead all she could was laugh and smile as she tried to keep an eye on him, and make sure she didnt end up getting tangled in her tail and landing face first into the sand and ruining the game.
"Going to have to move quicker than that!" She taunted him with another laugh bubbling out of her. Here they were, two adults playing like carefree kits in the rain, her heart aching with the sweet beauty of it.

"I could just show you, dear princess!" Tengu teased giving playful roars as he chased Siren about, laughing and grinning as he hopped and leaped after her, staying right on her tail, though she would gain when she would suddenly turn, he caught up soon enough. His sodden wings held out to each side, though they'd be better tucked against his back.
Running about like kits was more fun than running hard to actually catch her, but with her taunting he decided to change tactics. Once he caught her the tables would be turned, and so with a burst of speed (and tucked in wings) he moved and scooped her up from the sand mid-hop. "Oh ho, what's this, it seems you are now the one that is 'it', my lovely jewel. ...Hmm, or I could just keep you, hoard you away like a beast." Tengu was grinning, with that certain twinkle in his eye. Setting her on tail and feet once more he presses a kiss to her nose, prepping himself to turn away and run as soon as they were parted.
