This RP is backdated to 2/3/2016And for his next trick, Babylon was going to recruit Baikal. He had no idea how this was going to go. Baikal was a good enough friend, but they hadn't known each other long, and Babylon suspected he was pre-occupied with the hostage situation. (Why were so many people getting mixed up in things that were distinctly disorderly lately? Was there something in the water?) Maybe that would leave him impressionable - but mostly, Babylon expected it would leave him unwilling to get involved one way or the other. But hey, it was worth a try. "So," he said, stepping up beside Baikal. The roof they'd met on was mercifully un-icy. "Now for something completely different."

Baikal was, as he had been for days now, fairly grumpy. He hadn't exactly been terribly pleased when Babylon had invited him out for a chat, and had actually considered not showing up, but he owed the other man. He owed him more than he owed anyone else, really. So, begrudgingly, he had headed out across the chilly rooftops to met the other knight. When he found him Baikal didn't have a whole lot to say to him. A bob of the head, arms coming up to cross sullenly across his chest. He was being something of a child, he realized this, but that didn't make it any easier to stop. When he did speak it was with an obvious amount of forced patience. A mark, of just how much he respected the other man. "What's this about, Babylon?"

Maybe, Babylon thought, looking Baikal over, he should have picked somewhere indoors to handle this discussion - or handled it over rings - or maybe not at all? He'd come with a difficult proposition, one that would be an uphill battle to begin with - it wouldn't do him any favors if Baikal began the conversation already frustrated with him. Which, from the sounds of it, he was, forced patience considered. "You've seen this visitor?" he asked. "Caedus?" It was cold. Better to just get down to it and not waste time. "He's not to be trusted. If he reaches his homeworld, he'll return and drain this planet dry. We have to stop him." Beejoux I'M SO SORRY ABOUT THE WAIT /cries. We can do this now and I'll make sure to give you the never-go-out. I HOPE YOU CAN FORGIVE ME <3

It wasn't Babylon that had put the page in this mood, which made it a little bit easier to reign himself in. Whatever the Knight had called him out here for, it was probably important. So he took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as he listened to Babylon talk. "The one that wants us to invade the Negaverse," he confirmed, unable to help a slight unhappy curl of lip. Maybe Babylon was right, and maybe Caedus couldn't be trusted, but Baikal had his own reasons for not liking the stranger's plans, and it had very little to do with trust, and too much to do with believing anything even remotely close to that sort of frontal assault was just wrong. But that wasn't a very popular opinion. If Babylon wanted to stop him, though..."what's the plan, then?"

Babylon hadn't gotten as far as formulating, like, an entire plan. He was mostly currying favor right now. Once he saw who he had to work with, then he'd go about actually figuring out how he was going to do this. "We're going to kill him," he said, which was about as much as he had figured out. "The specifics will all fall into place," he added. "I mean. Might as well get a few punches in at the Negaverse, first, right?" Like, there was every possibility that was a trap, but... he'd see how this played out. Babylon was hardly a strategic mastermind. Maybe the Code had given him this assignment less because he was well-suited to it and more because he was the only person who'd bothered to ask. "I've had like three days to figure this out," Babylon concluded. "It's a total work in progress."

We're going to kill him. Just like that, huh? It seemed a little forward thinking for the knight, but then, how well did Baikal really know him? Babylon had seemed incredibly opposed to the capture and ill treatment of soldiers from the Negaverse. That he was willing to kill now was a sign to how big of a threat he felt Caedmus presented to them all. "We haven't dealt the Negaverse enough punches lately?" He ventured mildly, as neutral as he possibly could.Baikal's feelings on the whole thing were no secret, not from the other Mercury knight, at least. He had been out spoken about the situation at the prison, vehemently at first, and then in private with Babylon on multiple occasions. Still, whoever this Caedmus is, if he was bad news for some of them, he was likely bad news for all of them. "I'll help you." It didn't matter that he didn't know what would be asked of him. If he could offer assistance in any way, he would.

Babylon's grew tight for a moment, but beyond that he had no response to Baikal's comment about the Negaverse and punches. He'd disagreed with the methods in question, but an attack on the rift seemed like a far fairer strike. "Glad to count you in," he said, nodding evenly. There'd been a moment of doubt - there always was. He was coming to these knights with a difficult proposition, asking them to wager a lot on a leap of faith. "That reminds me," he added, not that it had reminded him - he'd just needed a way to change subjects. "I brought this for you." He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a never-go-out. He held it out to Baikal. "A token," he said. "Of my appreciation."

Babylon didn't respond to his comment on the Negaverse, but then Baikal hadn't really expected him to. It wasn't a very popular opinion to have as a knight. But there was only a small moment of strained silence before the men beside him was breaking it with a change of subject. A gift, or a token, as the other knight called it. To show his gratitude for all the support. Baikal wasn't entirely sure if he'd really done anything to deserve it, but he took it as it was held out to him, holding it up so he could get a closer look at the small glowing orb. Small and luminous blue, with gold wrapping and a symbol of mercury dangling from the bottom. "Thank you." He moved to fasten it to his jacket just at the edge of the fur trim. "It's not going to disappear on me, is it?" Was there something special he was going to have to do to keep it safe?

Babylon shook his head, a slightly nervous lap escaping his lips. "No," he said, "It'll stick around. It looks good." But then, he had yet to find anyone whose uniform it didn't look nice on. "I'll be in touch when I have more of a plan for what to do about Caedus," he added. "It might be a while."

Still lookin down at the little glowing sphere, he chuckled at Babylon's comment. "Not biased, are you?" Because why wouldn't he be? They were only little Mercury based glowing balls that Babylon could pull from thin air and gift out. No reason to be biased here. Looking up finally, he nodded. "Sounds fine to me. You know where to find me if you need me." The knight was probably the only one who could reliably get in contact with Baikal. There just weren't that many people he considered important enough to respond to when needed. His family, Dessy, and Babylon.
