I've recently 'joined the dark side' as a friend on my LiveJournal called it and joined MySpace. It's still pretty new to me, so I've been fiddling with everything on there for the last couple of days trying to get used to it all.
So I was just curious to see who here was also on MySpace. I think I remember seeing a post before saying that EternalHearts was there, but I can't remember which topic it was in.
This is mine for anyone who would like to see/ or has their own page. Oh, Add me too, lol blaugh

I joined recently, but haven't figured out (or looked into) customizing it much. I haven't tried it. I have looked at other members but I don't understand it.

The computer geek in me doesn't have time or patience to deal with somebody else's ideas of information, usability and customization, but these pages can be pretty neat once you figure out how to use them. I do have something up on yahoo 360* - barely - and should I decide to post something more, I'll just do it from scratch and put it on one of my domains. But that's me...

I personally think myspace is genius. Sometimes I feel a bit old on there, but I've run into quite a few old friends and reconnected. It's nice. And always cool to have another support place to go. Plus i love the randomness as well as the pure "6 degrees of seperation" thing it has going on. If you surf thru friends of friends long enough you eventually will come back to yourself. lol

So far I really like it. I've been trying to figure everything out and I've been having fun searching through sites to find layouts for my page. One thing I can't seem to figure out though is how to add the little thing playing a song.
I have browsed through people that went to my high school and found a few familiar faces, so that's cool.

Deniece One thing I can't seem to figure out though is how to add the little thing playing a song. Yeah I wanted to do that too, and tried for a while, but gave up.

I've got one eternalhearts]MySpace. I think it's wonderful, because it's allowed me to get in touch with friends from High School and college that I haven't had any contact with in YEARS!! It deffinitely has it's crepy aspects (which you can hear all about on the news), but it can be really great.

I won't use it for now, (possible ever) because of all the horror stories that start there.
Sick people looking for young girls to victimize is a pretty well known story line, and that was my first incentive to stay away, (because if I am going to discourage my teenager from being on there and possily ending up in a dangerous situation, I would be a hypocrite to be on there myself)
We also heard a new (possible) reason to stay away recently, as allegedly some large copanies have been using the internet to check out people they are considering for hire than turned them down because of what they may have posted on My Space. With a college bound teen in the house, I just consider that another reason not to encourage her.

lizzy i can totally understand where you're coming from...and I prollly would look at the whole myspace site differently if I had kids. I don't (unless you count furbabies) I don't use it to network like alot of people tho. I search for those people I knew in highschool and college and from the couch, but that's pretty much the extent of things. As far as employers using online stuff to decide who they want to hire...I try to live by the guideline of "don't put anything I wouldn't want to see on the front page" So let them look (altho i don't have much on myspace lol http://myspace.com/magikjaz I don't even have a pic of me)

True, and I have always promised myself I would try and be fair. If I am telling the kids no I am not going to flaunt the forbidden around them. That would just be messed up. Fortunately is has not interested me, (cannot say the same for neopets and Gaia) so the only one who thinks they are missing something IS Cassie. Eh, in cases like that I have always told my kids, they can be mad at me all they want... they have the rest of their lives to get over it, too! rofl oh, and (((((((( heart )))))))) @ jaz for understanding! I can ask my daughter how you add the sound to your profile. She knows how to do just about anything on there. I have a page too, but seldom go on it. The only reason I started one was to keep an eye on her with it. But she is good about the site. She only speaks (chats) with friends she know in RL. And then only about half of them cause I don't like the rest of them... xd
She was going as mommies little monster, but I think she's changed it again. Either that or she spells it completely different. Mine is Prgatori, like my yahoo id. But like I said, I barely ever go on there. My computer ends up all screwy every time I do go on that site!!

this is mine http://www.myspace.com/secretselice I use to have an account that was JzznJasmine but one of my old friends stalked me there and made me real uncomfortable so I made a new account under one of my alter-egos ninja ninja ninja you want to see my profile you have to be my friend to send me a email telling me your gaia name and I will add you... But I am pretty picky about who I add because of what happened the last time!!!
