Thankfully, Slievenamon had managed to go through a night without being pursued by a youma. Well, she was half to blame; she was more interested in learning about the beasts that plagued Destiny City rather than eradicating them as a threat. It wasn't that she was adverse to battle, but she felt the need to learn about the enemy rather than actually instigating a fight. Unfortunately, she'd inch to close time and time again and be overtaken by their wrath before dusting them with a few good stabs with the pointed end of her shell flute.
Despite the deep, growing desire with her to play it and relieve the song within her head for another night, the opportunity wasn't looking so savory as she stared at the end of her instrument while sitting on a rooftop overlooking D.C. Slieve twisted up her lip at her flute and peeked an eye down the hole at the top and retched at the dust caked within.
"Ugh. Reminder to self: Wash this thing out when I go home," she said aloud to herself. "But for now, one play'll do."
Wetting her lips, she pressed the tip of the flute to her mouth, and blew out the first few notes of a tune than segued into a melody that filled the cool, quiet night air.

Teide had heard the melody from a few blocks a way, soft at first but with greater definition as she approached it. Now, as she closed in, she tread carefully, not wanting to disturb the musician, whomever he or she might be. Their aura felt friendly, the bright kind-calling-kind of knighthood. Small in magnitude, sure, but a page was no less likely a friend than a full-fledged knight. And besides, this one played so beautifully! Finally arriving on the same rooftop, Teide approached the other girl on tiptoes and took a seat quietly, like she'd come into a movie late and didn't want to disturb the other patrons. After a moment, she sighed dreamily. "You're very talented," she said, voice soft. Unoderi Sorry about the wait! Got buried under meta + RL.

The page had a tendency of losing herself to her music as she played; the world melted away into the melody she and became her reality until she was done. Her back was to Teide, so when she finished playing and heard the knight's voice, it took everything in her being to keep her butt firmly planted where she sat. Had she chosen to give in to the reflexive jump in her, she would've tumbled straight off the roof.
Turning stiffly to her, Slievenamon cringed as she tried to have her fright dissipate, but also flushed when she was complimented. Ahhh, I'll never get used to people saying things about my playing, she thought as she offered a friendly smile to the other.
"T-thanks so much," Slievenamon said. "I-I normally don't play when I'm powered-up," she turned her flute about in her hand, "since this sounds so different from the actual instrument, but it isn't exactly a classic one. Anyway, I hope my playing didn't, like, bother you or anything. I thought no one'd hear. I'm Slievenamon, by the way, who're you?"

"Bother me?" asked Teide, taken aback. Oh, no, she hoped she hadn't sounded negative! How could a compliment sound negative? Had she messed it up somehow? "No, of course not," she countered, plaintive. "It was lovely - I, I hope I'm not bothering you!" She eyed the flute in the page's hand, considering her comment about it not being a classic instrument. Perhaps not, but it looked like something a mermaid might play, and coupled with Slievenamon's sea-green uniform, conjured up a whiff of salt-air and a crash of waves. "Teide," she replied, hopping to her feet. She held a friendly hand out to the page. "I hope you don't mind the audience."

Slievenamon glanced to the offered hand and immediately go to her feet to complete the greeting. Grasping the knight's hand, she gave it two good shakes while using the other to run the back of her neck sheepishly. She was a tad embarrassed, but hadn't minded her company at all.
"Oh, no, it's fine!" the page reassured after withdrawing both of her hands and letting them dangle by her sides. "Nice to meet you, Teide."
"So you're... a knight of...?" she said, tilting her head curiously. "I know there are knights of different places in space, but I've never seen a uniform like yours yet." Slievenamon pinched her chin between forefinger and thumb and stared at Teide's attire quizzically; even taking out her trusty memo pad and taking notes without even considering the other's reaction.

"I'm a knight of the Cosmos," Teide supplied, carefully enunciating the article as she'd learned to do from Hvergelmir. The was as much a part of her title as Cosmos, and it would be poor form to truncate it. "And you're... Neptune, right?" The dainty sigil on her lapel was a give away. Her eyes flickered to the memo pad. "I should get one of those," Teide added, smiling at the other girl's cleverness. "I'm bad at remembering things sometimes, when people just say them out loud." But at least she was aware of her own shortcomings, right? "How long have you been a knight for?" she asked, smoothing out the front of her skirt where it was still rumpled from sitting - she had far too many petticoats.

After the page had taken satisfactory notes, she clapped the book shut and slipped it back into the interior pocket of her jacket. Slievenamon nodded her head twice to affirm she was a page of Neptune. "Yep, I am," she said. "And I needed a notepad for the same reason as well. But it's also for observations as well. There's so much to learn being a knight that I want to make sure I have everything known, heh."
Slievenamon touched a finger to the corner of her lip and glanced her eye skyward in thought. "About... errr... a month or so?" she said. "It feels longer, but that's about it. How about you?" She eyed Teide's uniform again. "I'm guessing quite a while?

Teide counted quickly on her fingers. She'd purified in April, so she could call that ten months, which didn't seem like too short a time to go from page to knight in, but then, she'd first been corrupted almost two years ago now... "Ten months," said Teide, putting the past behind her. "If you're trying to learn," she added, face lighting up, "You should meet Hvergelmir! She's so smart! She's been teaching me! She's been a knight for years." Ten months was accurate, she decided. Slievenamon had specifically asked how long she had been a knight for, right? After all, that was what Teide had asked her first... "Hvergelmir knows probably ten times as much about being a knight as I do," she added, trying desperately to be helpful.

Slievenamon's mouth drew to a small O. Years? she thought. Yeesh, I really feel like a newbie when I hear something like that. Even hearing how much time Teide had under her belt (well, petticoats) made the Neptune page hummed in affirmation. However, any and every opportunity to learn was a pinprick of light in a rather dim situation for the redhead.
As long as she had a chance to learn and find out more about herself, Slievenamon was up to meeting anyone.
"That sounds like a good idea! I shouldn't definitely get into contact with them, then," she said, though uncertainly played on her face. "But I... really don't know how to go about doing that, unfortunately."

At Slievenamon's mention of her lack of easy communication, Teide thrust her right hand forward, pointing to the little rose-gold ring she wore over her thin gloves. "Do you have one of these?" she asked. "You would have found it on your wonder..." Teide trailed off. Slievenamon was so new that it was possible she'd never even been to her wonder! But that was one of the best parts of being a knight. "You've been, haven't you? To Slievenamon, on Neptune? I bet it's beautiful!" She considered the girl in front of her - her flute, her tuxedo. Maybe her wonder was a concert hall! Maybe it was under the sea! "The rings let you sent messages!" she explained, twisting hers on her finger. "You write the person you want to's name on a paper along with the message, and then when you're ready to send it, you just stamp it! Or there's a little add-on you can get for it, the little wire around the bezel, see? It makes it all high-tech!" She tapped her ring - and a holographic interface popped out of it. Teide grinned, giddy. "It does texting! And holograms!"

Slievenamon's mouth drew to a small O at the ring. Oh, she remembered that! She had dug it up when she first visited her wonder.
"Yea, I do!" she said with a nod. "It was the first thing I came across while I was at my wonder. It was really pretty. Like, at the top of the mountain there was this sight it was just..." She continued to gush for a few more seconds before snapping to attention again. "I-it does? That's... That's pretty neat!"
Suddenly, the page cursed her luck for having left her signet ring on the desk in her room. Slievenamon knew it was for something important, but she didn't know what until Teide tipped her off. She had the materials for sending a message—paper, pen—but not the equipment to do so. It was a tad disappointing to her.
"Ah, I guess I'll have to do it when I go home," Slievenamon said. "That's where my ring is, but thanks so much for letting me know. I thought the ring was just, like, a little trinket or something. Not anything major, y'know? Oh, whoa—"
Her mouth dropped open again at the sudden holographic interface to pop up. It could even do that? It was more high tech than her cell!
"That's really, really cool." She glanced to Teide. "And who do I see abut this add-on? Really seems useful."

Teide nodded sympathetically. Being a knight without having anyone else around to tell you how to be one seemed... really hard. "You should write me a letter once you do," she said, rocking on her heels. "That's Teide, with an E. T-E-I-D-E." "Mistral makes the upgrades," she added, closing the hologram interface. "So you'd probably need to talk to her to get one... but she's really generous. And she has a dog! He's great."

Swifter than lighter (or maybe even on par with its speed), Slievenamon jotted down what Teide had informed her on and also some other thoughts and questions she had to look into when she had time. Ah, ah, I'm going to have a busy week, she thought as slid her pen off a page brimming with her illegible chicken scratch. How in the world and am going to make time for all of this on top of band practice?
"I would offer my name, but its a bit of a mouthful," Slievenamon said with a sheepish smile. "But honestly, thanks so much, Teide. You've been a big help with what you've told me just now." She nodded her head. "You can expect a message from me very soon, then. And I have to thank you for this. Not sure how, but I'll definitely find a way."

"I'm sure I can figure it out," said Teide, who planned to maybe go home and do some googling and also just try sending messages until one actually went through - the rings didn't deliver mail to people who didn't exist, after all. "I'll send you some notes! I got some really cute stationery. It'll be great." Oh, she was so excited to have made a friend!!!! Maybe Slievenamon could tell. "Please, don't worry about it," she added, "Everyone needs someone to teach them the basics. It's just how it works." She'd had lots of teachers. Granted, most of the early ones were negaverse generals who'd all wound up mysteriously dead, but they were teachers nonetheless. "But if you really want to thank me," she added, "I really, really, really like bubble tea." Unoderi Probably good to wrap. Thanks for playing with meeee <3

Slievenamon smiled. "Then some time in the future, I'll definitely treat you!"
Figuring this was a good time to part, the page dipped her head at Teide again in gratitude and backpedaled twice. "I should be heading home now, but really, thanks so much! See you some time!" She leapt off into the night, bounding between rooftops and reminding herself repeatedly to send off those notes when she got home. The page's mind's were on others thoughts when—
Gurk!
When she finally connected two and two together, she miscalculated her jump. Her heel slid off the ledge of the rooftop and she took a tumble a few stories below. Slievenamon did survive, though, because she had a comfortable landing.
Straight into a dumpster.
Yet, despite the rancid smell of thrash, Slievenamon found herself in awe. "W-why does that sound so familiar? C-could it be...?" she thought to herself as she stepped out of the metal container and back to the rooftops for home. "No way—!"
Silverah All righty~ Thanks so much as well!
