There was a certain…bliss about not bothering with things. A certain freedom that came with ignoring responsibilities. He had no idea what was going on in the powered world, had no idea of the strange alien visitor, and what was better…he had no idea of the agents of chaos who had been taken prisoner. Though if he had known that, this nice brisk walk would most likely not be happening tonight.

As it were, Whisler had no idea of anything that was going on. The only thing that concerned him was the fact that Velentines day was this Sunday and he didn’t have anything for Arias yet…what a terrible guy he was. Terrible, terrible. Oh well. He knew he’d figure something out by the time the day actually rolled around…for now…

The knight lifted his head, feeling someone from the side of chaos nearby…maybe he should do something. Tell them off for being a jerk or stop them from hurting someone or whatever it was he was supposed to be doing…or maybe he could just say hi.

Yeah. That seemed like the best thing to do…go over and make sure things weren’t amiss and say hello and try to bring whoever it was back to the right. Back to the light.

He strolled over and blinked, seeing black and purple. Well. This was someone he knew. This wasn’t…unwelcome at all. “Ploutonian!” All thoughts of Arias left his head when he saw the blue haired captain. Whoops. Oh well.

Ashanite was recovered enough from the injuries he'd sustained while captive for him to feel comfortable patrolling again. He could walk, and he was beginning to convince himself that he wasn't going to wake back up in that cell; the aches and pains were mostly manageable, and the bruising had started to fade.

He still had a cast on his broken wrist, but whatever.

The feeling of a Knight's aura sent panic crawling up his back. This one wasn't the too-pure of a Transcendent, so not Celsus, but what if Aralakh ---

No.

He knew that voice.

"Whisler," his greeting was guarded, cautious, tense. There was no way for him to know who might have been aware of what was done to him, and to the other kidnapped officers.

The knight’s eyes flicked over the captain and took in the yellowing bruises on his neck and chest, as well as the cast on his wrist. What the hell had happened to him?

“Are…are you okay? Who the ******** hurt you?” There was hardly hidden fury in his voice. Why would someone want to hurt him? He was a victim of chaos…they should know that. They should feel bad, protect him…

Work on bringing him home. Jesus, if the people on the ‘right’ side went around beating up people who needed help…well then, they would never get him back…

“Who hurt you, Ploutonion? Who do I need to kick?” His arm extended slightly and then fell to his side. Whisler really wasn’t happy with the way the captain had said his name…like he was afraid of him. He didn’t like that at all. “You know I’d never hurt you, Plou…You know that. I promised you I’d never hurt you…” He would keep that promise.

Ashanite inhaled, found himself taking a wary step back. He wasn't trapped, he could teleport, and this was Whisler, who, yes, had definitely promised not to hurt him.

"I'm recovering," he said, and his tone was still wary.

He found himself fiddling with his hair with his good hand, a nervous habit that was not at all fake. God, he hated this, hated being so out of control of his reactions, but a week of torture had left him still shaky and uncomfortable.

"I..." Ashanite grit his teeth. Whisler wouldn't be looking at him like that if he'd known. "Was kidnapped. Held, for a week. Tortured. Along with several other officers."

“You…what?” The question came out much sharper than he had intended for it too and his expression darkened. “What do you mean you were…what?” Whisler felt like his head was spinning. What did he mean he was tortured, kidnapped? For a week? Why…who would do that. That wasn’t what they should be doing…this didn’t help or solve anything.

His expression kept shifting from anger to a deep sort of pained sadness and he cautiously moved closer to Ashanite, holding out a slightly trembling hand. “I am so, so sorry…What can I do. What do you need?”

This was not what he had expected. Not in a million years. An attack from a vicious, bloodthirsty jerk senshi maybe…but torture? From the ones who were supposed to be the good guys?

It made him feel sick.

Yes, alright -- Whisler definitely had not known. Ashanite relaxed, just a little, once he was sure of that. And he couldn't feel anyone else, so it was unlikely he was in further danger.

"I don't know how organized the operation was, or how many people were involved." He was staring at his feet, now, having trouble looking Whisler in the eyes. Like he was ashamed of what had been done to him - which he was, a little. He should have been able to get out. Shouldn't have needed someone to carry him.

"I..." He reached out and took Whisler's hand, shaking himself. "Hold me?" He asked, and it came out sounding pathetic and broken, but given the opportunity - he wasn't going to let it slip by.

The moment that the Captain took his hand, the second he asked to be held, Whislers arms wrapped around him. “I’ve got you…” He murmured, placing a kiss on Ashanite’s cheek, his hand running gently down his back. “Nobody will hurt you while you’re in my arms, I swear it…nobody will ever hurt you again if I have anything to say about it…”

His voice faltered and he swallowed, closing his eyes, almost in pain. “I’m so sorry for what they did to you…What can I do, Plou…what can I do to make this better? I mean…” The knight sighed. “I know I can’t make it better…I know that…that nothing will make this better, I’m sure…I’m so sorry…”

There was nothing more he wanted to do than to make this captain smile, wash the fear from his eyes and the worry from his face…

He couldn’t blame him for being afraid…if he had been afraid of going back to order because of retribution from the Negaverse…well…now he would be afraid to come back because of the brutality of his own stupid idiotic side. “I’m so…so sorry…” His voice was barely a whisper and his forehead rested against Ashanite’s.

Ashanite settled against Whisler's chest, smiling faintly and pressing into him. "I trust you," he said, softly. "If...I could have contacted you, I'm sure you would have gotten me out of there." It was true, he knew it was true, and it was comforting.

"Just...understand when I say there is very little you can do." He sighed, softly. "I cannot...undo what was done to me. I just have to try and deal with it, as best I can." He ran a thumb over Whisler's hand. "But this helps." In multiple ways. Being close to someone was centering, and it helped to know that he could still be who he needed to be for Whisler, to keep working him back into the Negaverse.

"Though I hope you'll understand if I say I'd rather not hear any pitches about purification for a while." He laughed, dryly, with very little actual humor.

A small laugh fell from Whisler’s lips. Not one of humor, but one that was on the edge of hysteria. “No…no purification pitches for a while…if ever again, honestly…” It wouldn’t work. Even if…even if he hadn’t been so afraid before, this was the killing blow to that hope…and that was just…it was just awful.

“All you have to listen to now is my heartbeat, okay? Just close your eyes…and um. Feel my arms around you, and listen to my heart beating for you…the sound…well. This sounds so cheesy, but…heartbeats are soothing. Especially if it’s from someone you care about…who cares for you in return so…so let me help in this small way, okay?” He wracked his brain, trying to think of something…anything else that he could do…and finally he just sighed. “Do you want me to call you the name that the Negaverse gave you? I mean…I wouldn’t blame you if you did. And I wouldn’t mind calling you that. We don’t…deserve to keep pretending that you’re part of our team…Not after this. We don’t deserve to have you back…”

It was awful…but it was the truth. The awful. Bitter. Terrible truth. Disgusting.

Ashanite nodded a little. He closed his eyes, and began to breathe slowly, relaxing into the sound of Whisler's voice and Whisler's heartbeat. It was nice, quiet, comfortable - easy. He could stay here forever, and be...well, at least content.

He inhaled, briefly. "I think we're past the point of pretending that my former identity as Ploutonion means anything, yes." And he smiled, briefly, faintly. "Call me Ashanite. That's the name the Negaverse gave me - and it's obviously the only one that matters, in the end, as long as I have a Chaos aura and a dark uniform."

Because that was the only thing separating them, truly.

"Whisler, I..." He was taking a gamble, here, but the idea had struck him, and....well, nothing ventured. "Kiss me? Or is that asking too much? I shouldn't presume, but..." He trailed off. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked."

This could go a hundred different ways, and most of them were at least reasonably advantageous for him.

“Ashanite…” The name rolled off his tongue and he sighed, almost sadly. “I wish it didn’t suit you so well…but it’s a very cute name…I like it.” The blonde knight gave a small little smile and drew away from the captain, raising an eyebrow. “Kiss you? My, my. Captain…you’re a little forward, don’t you think…?”

He was just teasing though…clearly he was just teasing. Slowly his slightly trembling fingers moved themselves along Ashanite’s face and he drew his own face close. “…You really want me to kiss you, my lovely captain? I am quite sure I can oblige…it’s the least I can do for you.”

Softly, he touched his own lips to the poor battered Negaversers, and felt his heart flutter as he did so.

This shouldn’t feel this good. It shouldn’t feel this good at all.
But it did. It did indeed feel that good…

Whoops.

Ashanite laughed, just the tiniest bit. He couldn't think of anyone else who found his mineral name cute, though he supposed he could personally find it fitting, in relation to his former Knight planet - ashes to ashes, dust to dust and all that.

He forced himself to flush, to look embarrassed and shy, like he couldn't believe his own boldness. "I, ah," he glanced at Whisler, then down and away, making himself seem smaller, more vulnerable. He gave a slightly shaky smile. "Yes, I do," and then Whisler's lips were on his and his eyes fluttered closed as he leaned into the kiss.

Perfect -- he couldn't have planned this better if he'd had months instead of minutes. He brought a hand up to cup the side of Whisler's face, and just let himself enjoy the kiss.

This poor thing. This poor precious hurting thing… Whisler felt his eyes close as he melted into the kiss, resting his cheek against the warmth of Ashanites hand. He liked this a lot. A whole, whole lot. Finally, finally after a very, very long moment he pulled away from the kiss, instead nuzzling the captain with as much tenderness as he could muster.

“I would do anything for you, Ashanite. Anything at all. You deserve to smile after all you’ve been through. I’m just so sorry…”

He would at least try his best to do whatever was asked. “I promise you. If I can do it, I will do it. I will make sure you feel safe. I will make sure you aren’t afraid anymore.” Whatever it took. He would do it.

Ashanite sighed, faintly, when the kiss ended. There was a hint of a smile on his face, and it was at least partially genuine - he was fond enough of Whisler, in his way, and it was also always nice when everything came together perfectly.

He had considered, briefly, abandoning his ruse. Obviously that would be an incredibly foolish move.

"Thank you, Whisler," he said, voice soft. "I...I don't know what I'd do without you."

“Well, you won’t have to worry about that now. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll take care of you as much as I possibly can.”

The knight planted another kiss on the captain’s forehead and gave him a tight squeeze. “Seriously though. You name it, and it’s yours my friend. Anything I can do, I’ll do it. I’ll protect you from those assholes and I’ll make sure you stay happy and unhurt…I’ll do whatever I can. I…”

No. He wasn’t going to blurt out ‘I love you’. That would be way too soon, and it would come off way too strongly and it just…it wasn’t what he was trying to say. Even though…well. Even though.

“I do think you should try to head home and get some rest Ashanite…I’ll see you soon, I’m sure. We can kiss again when I do, if you want.” Whisler thought for a moment and grinned. “How about we meet up…like plan to meet up sometimes. I think that would be a pretty good idea…then I wouldn’t have to worry about you, and if you don’t show…well, I’ll worry, so it’s a win-win. I’ll meet you right here in three weeks, okay? Three weeks, Ashanite. Please be here. I will.”
