It had been bothering her for awhile now, holding the weapon in her hands she marveled at its weight. The hammer, something she had wielded for quite some time had become very familiar to her. It was a satisfying sort of weight, one that had helped protect her family and her loved ones. Still....she couldn't help but feel that it was very unpractical. At least...for her every day needs. During the wars and consistent conflicts she had found the weapon a burden she felt she was required to carry, but now...she felt like she needed something she could use while hunting and yet still be able to protect her family if she was required.
Sighing she knew this meant she would be forced to go to the village, she knew that right now there was quite a trade show going on. With many traders coming across from many far away places. Keilana disliked talking with people she didn't know. Most people too her for rude and hot headed which was pretty much how she was with everyone. Blunt and with little consideration for the feelings of others until it was too late. Haggling for her would most likely end up with her returning home frustrated and with nothing to show for her efforts. Still she had a vision for what she wanted her weapon to evolve into, perhaps she would find someone who would put up with her temper. If she was lucky.
Walking into town she had also an idea for a better bit of armor than what she had been wearing before. Honestly she wasn't entirely sure how she managed to get through two wars and a skirmish with her life. She thanked the gods for allowing her to survive all the trials of the past, but she knew that she couldn't be that lucky for the rest of her life. Giving a deep sigh she looked around, spotting the first place she wanted to go to. Leather worker.
Heading over the woman in charged looked as if she had troubled or annoyed, she wasn't entirely sure. She was currently working with a piece of leather from a animal hide Keilana didn't recognize. Perhaps it was an exotic animal. There had been some that had gotten lose awhile back. Leaning over she looked over the woman's craftsmanship, it was very good astoundingly good. Which meant she wasn't going to come cheap either.
"I am looking to get some armor made." The leaf woman started as she shifted her hammer from her shoulder to the ground. There was no sense trying to look like she was threatening the woman. She wanted to try and get on good terms with her after all. The shifter woman eye'd her, giving a long and potent stare that bordered on a glare. Goody, someone who was as good with handling people as she was.
"And? I am sure there is some premade armor that would suit you fine." She gestured towards the stacks of armor she had already made. And although they were all very beautiful made from hides she didn't recognize Keilana felt a sour taste in her mouth. No. She wanted someone made for herself. Perhaps it was pride but she had been through a lot in her lot of life and perhaps she felt she deserved something custom made.
"I can see they are all well made, but I had something else in mind." Keilana managed trying to force a friendly tone into her voice. Perhaps her body language gave her away though as it had remained tense betraying her annoyance at being brushed off. The shifter woman sighed, stopping what she was doing before turning to look at Keilana squarely.
"Look. I don't come cheap, and I am swamped with work as it is. Just..buy one of the pre-mades." She affirmed as she went to pick up a chest piece from the pile. "I can adjust this to fit you better." She continued to go on and Keilana looked at the chest armor a moment. It was a pleasant enough to look at, made of good material and high workmanship.
Keilana pursed her lips, she really wanted a custom piece. "And how much are you charging me for that? Will 'adjustments' be additional?" Keilana asked as she involuntarily reached out to pick the armor out of the shifters hands. Her thumb ran over the intricate designs and for something that was 'premade' it had an air of love and dedication put into it. Though as she looked over the rest of the armory she realized she would need more than just the chest piece. An arm guard or shoulder armor plus she wasn't a fan of the fur.
"Can..you alter a premade then?" She moved on since it was apparent a custom wasn't going to happen. The shifter woman gave a slight roll of her eyes as if she was really hoping Keilana would just go away. You'd think she didn't want her business. Or perhaps she was just picky with who her customers were.
"It will cost you extra...what did you want changed?" She grimly replied looking like she had just bitten into something sour.
"I don't like the fur. It will get dirty and I don't want to be bothered by cleaning it all the time. " Keilana stated as she was met with a annoyed look. The shifter went to tuck her messy hair in behind and ear it looked like she wasn't happy with hearing her request.
"I can't really charge you more if you are basically giving me part of the armor back. But I will have to alter it slightly so the fastenings are no longer visible. " She stated with a nod of her head. "We can all the cost even then, since I get to keep the valuable fur it balances out the cost of altering. "
Keilana grinned and nodded her head, before she then pointing to the arm guard she had spotted for a different set of armor. "Can I get one of those? I would need it for my left arm." She stated after a moment of deliberation, after all it wasn't like she really thought long and hard about how she fought, but it would make sense to have her less dominant hand or arm to be protected. Once could immediately tell that the shifter was getting irritated.
"Yes...yes fine. You have to pay me in advance though, I've had too many people want custom or alterations made and then never return." She spat and Kei could then understand why this woman was being difficult. If the person wasn't being serious then it meant she would do all this work for nothing. Nodding her head she went to reach for her coin purse and after a few more tense and terse words a payment was made.
Keilana was instructed to come back in a weeks time or so to pick up her altered armor. Walking home she felt a sense of accomplishment but then stopped a moment. Wait...hadn't she originally intended to get a new hammer? Groaning she slapped herself into the forehead.
