[ no tame ]
It was just a big blue turtle, Sebastien thought, but no. He watched it as it lumbered closer and saw it was covered in dirt, and actually had a few sprigs of various plants growing from its back. What in the world? He laughed and watched from a few feet away with a few of the others, and then a thought struck him as it made a bizarre honking sound.
"Nobody do anything," he said, and then rushed off toward Naevius' dwelling. She'd probably never seen a creature like this either! He waved to the guards and briefly explained that he was looking for Naevius for some further training, then rapped at the door.

Varinia had been tidying up some stuff in Naevius' room while the princess worked away at her desk. There really wasn't much to do as the business stuff only Nae could do and Nae was by nature a fairly clean person so there wasn't much for Vari to actually "tidy up". The knocking at the door caught her attention yet it didn't catch Nae's, so engrossed in the numbers she was. Vari crossed the room quickly and opened the door only slightly to see Sebastien outside. It was odd, yet not odd at all to see him outside Nae's door. He looked excited though, which peaked her interest. "Is something wrong Sebastien? Naevius is elbow deep in some business paperwork right now. Can I take a message or something for her?

Sebastien grinned when Varinia answered, the the expression quickly fled his face. She was busy? Damn.
"Oh, no, there's just something--" He paused briefly, and a smirk regrew on his face. "Actually, would you like to come and see it?" He'd bet that Varinia's excited recounting of the beast might be better than whatever he could offer.

Her lips pursed as he asked if she wanted to see something but the smile on his face, though not exactly quite a smile, convinced her. "Sure! Though, what is it?" She had to admit she was a little bit weary since she hadn't had much interaction with Sebastien before, besides covering for Nae. But Nae thought he was a good guy so likely she had nothing to worry about. Vari stepped out of the room and closed the door softly behind her. "Lead the way!"

"We're... not exactly sure," Seb admitted, then chuckled and held his hand out behind Varinia while she came down the stairs, as if to catch her if she fell, and then started walking back toward the creature, who he hoped nobody had grabbed yet. "It's something that's very, very lost at the very least."
When they reached the area, the beast appeared to be trying to bury itself in the hard-packed dirt of the compound. Sebastien just stood with his hands on his hips, watching and smirking. He turned to Varinia for a response.

Varinia did make it down the stairs alright, though she did appreciate the sentiment. They're not sure what it was but it was very very lost...was it like..a hybrid of some sort? Varinia's head kept going in circles as she thought on his words. It wasn't until she got down and around to the right area did she understand what he meant. She stopped beside him, a weird look on her face as she watched the weird thing do weird things. Her head tilted to the side as she watched it. It was like...what was it like? She recalled seeing something in a book or something somewhere when putting things away for Nae. "It almost looks like...a matorian.....bushin? Bushi? With the shell thing? Kind of?" She only knew about things from books. She stood there, head still cocked, while a finger idly tapped on her lips as she thought.

Sebastien nodded.
"Yeah, it does. It's lower to the ground, though, and bushi don't grow mold." Of course 'mold' was a bit of an understatement of the full-blown greenery sprouting from this thing's shell. "But if it's not a bushi, what is it?"
"What if the Yaeli brought it over?" someone asked.
"...hm." Seb tilted his head.

"Have you seen many Yaeli around here? Even when I go to the capital on errands I have yet to see one. It seems unlikely yet it does seem like the only explanation at the same time." So the Bushi didn't grow mold? Was it mold? Varinia couldn't really say. "Just how far away are Matori and Yael? Are the bushi aquatic and if so would that mean this would have the opportunity to be aquatic? Even though it clearly looks like its trying to burrow?" With only her knowledge coming from books it meant this prentice had a lot of questions for the more experienced beast tamers.

"Yael is a whole other island, and I don't think these things can swim. Look at its little legs." Seb reached out with a foot and tipped up an end of the creature's shell. A stumpy little leg waggled in the air and the creature yelled at him and tried to snap. He pulled back easily. "and those plants don't look aquatic. Maybe it belongs to someone?" He backtracked then, having gone a bit animal-nerdy for a moment.
"I saw Yaeli at the end of the last war, but since then I think I've only seen one, and they didn't look like they wanted to be in public."

"Hmmm." Varinia inspected the beast's leg as Sebastien raised it. The thing had some spunk didn't it? "Maybe you're right. I suppose any Yaeli would attract a lot of attention so they'd likely try to stay out of the public eye if that was what they wanted. So it could belong to someone and they just not know how to find it. You'd think they'd keep a better handle on it..." What other options and explanations for this thing to be here was there? "Bandits and trappers could have brought them back and maybe almost got caught by guards and let them go to not be suspected and this guy made it's way away? Maybe? That sort of thing happens between Oba and Tendaji doesn't it?"

Oh, Sebastien was learning new things about his love's handmaiden without the girl even knowing. She had an imagination, she did. What dd she imagine about him and Naevius, he wondered?
"Well, I suppose it could. It sounds reasonable enough. We won't want this little guy getting recaptured, though. Maybe he'll stay here for a little while, at least until the princess can see him. Maybe we can get some more information on it." He then turned to the gathered crowd. "Could someone get a wrap to bind its jaw so we can take it somewhere safe? I imagine it's hungry and... thirsty?" He'd never been to Yael. Was it an especially watery place for an island?

"Maybe so..." Varinia listened as Sebastien wanted to capture the creature and put him somewhere safe which was something Vari didn't know if it was a good idea or not. "Are we sure moving it is a good idea? I mean...like we've concluded, we don't know very much on it. And I agree Naevius would likely have the resources to be able to find out more. But I'm sure each creature has its own needs and necessities when being moved, right? So what if we end up hurting it because we don't know?" Its not that she didn't have faith in the group of beast tamers assembled. It was just that she was worried for the creature itself. "Hold on just one minute..." Vari asked and quickly ran to one of the store rooms and grabbed a sheet of paper and a writing utensil. "Just in case something happens or it gets away." She said happily. Vari would want Nae to have some way of knowing what they were talking about. A crude sketch appeared on the paper before too long, with small details being added in and things she couldn't quite draw having arrows to their locations with words towards the edge of the sheet. "Think this will do in case Naevius doesn't get a chance to see it?" Vari asked as she showed Seb her crude, but not horrible, drawing.

"Well we'll see if we can treat it at all like a bushi. It seems less aquatic, but it had the same sort of beak. We'll have something here it'll like, at least. It'll be safer here than wandering Oba." He turned then to Varinia's drawing as a pair returned with a leather strap and fabric to try and subdue the animal. They looped around its beak and dropped a cloth over its eyes, and then a great group of them went to heft it. Clearly it was a heavy animal, for seven men had gathered around it to lift, and even then they were struggling. So it must be a dense sort of beast. He turned his attention back to Varinia and her drawing and smiled. It was... well. It looked sort of like the creature?
"Just in case," Sebastien said with a nod, "but I think it'll only make her wish she had the chance. I'm going to go help them, alright? We need to get this poor thing fed and watered."

Varinia watched as they prepared the creature for transport. What Sebastien said made sense but she still couldn't help but worry about it. She did have somewhat of a soft heart underneath everything. "I'll make sure she gets this in any case then. But sure, no problem. Make sure its safe. It is after all your job isn't it?" Vari teased only slightly. She had heard that Seb had a sense of humor but as she didn't know him well she thought it best not to push too much. "Take it easy!" She said with a wave as she started her way back to Naevius.
