At Large Prompt 1
Can be used toward Battle req (or RP req only if done with a friend) Solo word minimum is 500, RP post minimum is 7
It was bound to happen eventually.
With rumors of great beasts roaming the shores of Yael, many mainlanders flocked across the sea to capture the exotic beasts. In no time at all, they returned with large scaled monsters, dangerously translucent serpents, and turtles that carried the earth. These traders traveled across the Mainland to parade the beasts, going from Matori to Zena and everywhere between. Soon enough, everyone had either seen the Yaeli beasts or at least heard of them.
And they were sure to hear about the beasts when they escaped.
With such little knowledge of the foreign creatures, the traders underestimated the animals. In no time at all, the Yaeli beasts escaped into the wilderness and ended up near your location. With new creatures all but knocking on your door, what do you do? Do you dare to try and tame them, or do you run them off back into the wilderness? You better hurry, because these creatures are lost and scared, and are sure to cause some damage before they are captured once more....
|| The Yaeli familiars have been spotted in the following locations: Tintural (Oba and Matori), Keldari (Jauhar/Chibale and Tale), Limbara (Sauti and Zena). Only individuals in set locations can encounter the specific familiars.
|| If you are located in Yael, respond to this prompt as if you witnessing a mainlander abducting one of the newly announced familiars. Do you step in or run away? Use the same rolls below, but instead of subduing the beast, you are rolling to test your success for freeing it. You may encounter any beast on Yael if you are located there, but you must declare which one you are facing when you make the roll.
This prompt will be resolved by each player rolling 1D100 to test their success. (You can only roll once - there are no reattempts!)
xxxxxPrentice must roll 60-100 to successfully subdue the beast. xxxxxStage 2 must roll 50-100 to successfully subdue the beast. xxxxxStage 3 must roll 40-100 to successfully subdue the beast xxxxxStage 4 must roll 30-100 to successfully subdue the beast.
|| Success or fail, completion of this event rewards you with 15 EXP!

Zidel was not necessarily an area Callum had ever planned to visit, but he wasn't exactly opposed to visiting, either. Within this large city dwelled the Grand Council, thus drawing no small amount of respect from the Sauti born swordsman.
The streets were line with structures crafted from sturdy, dense wood with a few porches to break up the monotony of the darker buildings. When they had first entered the city Callum hadn't spoken much; instead, his eyes ate up the scenery, trying to memorize every little detail. It was as if he were back in Oba's cities, and yet, there were so many differences he could barely recall the similarities. Large piles of snow were caked around the edges of the buildings so as to keep the roads clear. He had even seen a few roads that were covered in stone, which had seemed so very, very odd to him. Weren't most roads cleared of stones before they were used? Why would anyone voluntarily cover the area in the cold little buggers?
Callum tugged the hood of his coat back up around his ears, ebbing some of the bite that nipped around his pierced ears. The insulated outerwear kept him nice and toasty, even though he loathed the drab colors. At the very least he had talked his lover into allowing him to wear a little less clothing, thus leaving him with all of his mobility and most of the original warmth.
It hadn't taken long for a group to make themselves known, and one angry blonde had been enough to peek Callum's interest. The man's potbelly might have caused him to assume this was a pregnant woman, had it not been for the scraggly beard coating his double chin. He had been wagging a finger at a younger male and when Callum had interrupted the man had gone off on him.
"Don't stand up for that runt! I paid good money for that Limbara and he let it get away!"
"Oh yeah, father, because rope was going to hold that thing in place." The snide remark had earned the youth another earful, much to Callum's disdain. The father was threatening to let his boy sleep outside in the cold until the creature returned.
And so, one thing led to the other and...now they were Limbara hunting in the wilderness just outside of Zidel. Callum sweetly hooked his arm around Nimueh's, tucking himself close to the taller man's side. "This won't be so bad. All we have to do is catch it, and then return it for a nice little reward, right? Simple."

Honestly, Nim had only been this far east when accompanying his mother, Izuzue. He was a belts boy, at heart, and here the winter raged, even beyond his experience. However the two had found a more experienced group to travel with, so he could allow himself the luxury of gazing around, slack jawed and awed, at the city. He saw plenty of wind tribe traders, but despite being so close to Sauti, he had never seen such a mix of wind and ice. Seeing so many hybrids, walking around proudly and without interruption, was strange but also a much needed salve.
It was so like Callum, though, to see an issue arise and want so badly to solve it. Nimueh wanted to help too, of course, but… remembering the last time he and Callum had encountered a beast together came to mind, and left him wary.
Snorting in quiet amusement at Callum's coy words, Nimueh gave his hand a gentle squeeze before breaking away, snow crunching under his footsteps as he stepped forward, and turned in a wide circle, arms outstretched. "Even if we track it, do we even know what a Limbara is?" He asked, cocking a brow. Dropping his arms then, he looked across the snowy ground for tracks, rubbing a hand over the back of his neck helplessly.

Callum shrugged his shoulders and tucked his gloved hands into his coat. "Well, we know that it's a big beast. That's something." As he walked the weight of his blade tapping gently against Callum's left thigh reminded him of the risks involved with this venture. Remembering the sermal was just asking for another sleepless night, and he hoped this wouldn't be a repeat of that horrid day. He rolled his left shoulder as if the frigid cold brought up old aches.
"You know what's natural for Zena and I know what's natural for Sauti, so, as long as we find something that doesn't fit then we should be fine." Grinning, Callum moved closer to Nimueh, casually walking as if he were going to pass the younger male up before he reached out to cop a feel of his lover's rump. "I'll watch your back if you'll watch mine." The double entendre almost caused him to laugh, but Callum didn't pause to think on it for too long. He kept moving forward, boots crunching through the snow, while his eyes kept a lookout for any strange tracks.
It didn't take as long as he suspected to find something out of the ordinary. Or rather, to hear something strange. Callum closed in on a rock formation that seemed to block a portion of frost covered woods. From the other side he could heart a very distinctive noise, almost as if the creature were rutting. He turned back to Nimueh to see if the sound was familiar to his lover.

Painted Moose I'm assuming the rock formation is the limbara XDD but if not, then coo razz You don't have to reveal it, I can next post biggrin we have seven posts to play with after all razz He really should stop being so surprised by Callum's behavior, and yet the grab made him jump nonetheless, fixing his partner with a playful glare. It didn't last long, however... despite being high strung at the best of times, Nim really couldn't stay tense in the face of his lover's relaxed, take-it-as-you-go nature. Instead, he bumped shoulders with Cal as he passed, then grinned crookedly and moved in the opposite direction, scanning the expanse of snow and scattered trees.
Of course, it wasn't too long before something happened. Callum was lucky, you see - or unlucky, depending on the circumstances. Canting his head, Nimueh narrowed his eyes, straining to listen to the strange noises. It was... well, it wasn't TOO dissimilar from a weywa, though he'd never known of a rutting weywa. But the odds of one being out of its cave anyway was very slim - unless the sounds were amplified, and finding some way out of a cave system, hidden from view. Making a face, Nim looked back to Callum and shook his head, gesturing towards the formation as he crept closer.
Which was...strange. Sure, there hadn't been snowfall lately, even if the temperature had stayed cold - but the rocks weren't dusted with snow, as he would have expected, except at the base - which was rather strange.

Callum reached out to place a gloved hand against the stone formation, side stepping to peer around the other side. He hadn't expected the warmth that emanated from it, nor the near craggy feel of the stones. They weren't anything like he had felt in this area before, and the oddity of it gave him pause.
The sounds of rutting turned to a snorting sort of snarl that was accompanied by movement. Callum took a quick two step away from the shifting...thing and found a great lumbering head turning their way. Sharp, crimson eyes seemed to bore into him, erasing what bit of warmth Callum's blood contained. One need only be mauled with a handful of creatures to learn to fear the ones with large, gaping maws big enough to swallow a child.
Reflexively he reached a hand back for Nim, but still instantly when that seemed to catch the beast's attention. Callum stood, one arm extended and wholly unsure of what to do next. It didn't seem angry...yet, but it was focused.
"We should go." He murmured, his voice a high pitched hiss. Whatever he had expected wasn't nearly this large, nor did it have quite that many teeth!

Nimueh wasn't the type to say 'I told you so', and yet the thought blared through his head for a brief moment as the formation began to shift, revealing itself as ... some strange, otherworldy rock demon. His breath hitched at the sight of it, and he froze, remaining as still as possible so as not to draw its attention. Which, of course, made Callum the focus when he moved.
In body shape, the limbara looked similar to the weywa - it was massive, hunkered down on four trunk-like limbs, but that was where the similarities ended. There was no hair on it, instead it was covered in thick, rock-like scales - and its long maw was lined with razor sharp teeth. The beast eyed Callum, lowering its head and issuing a deep groan of a growl, raking its foot against the ground and kicking up snow behind it.
"Move slowly." Nimueh advised, voice low and slow, so as not to startle the beast. If he didn't seem concerned, maybe the limbara would be too curious to attack at once. "Don't turn your back to it - move back. Slowly." Slowly, Nimueh raised his arm towards Callum, so he could see him from his periphery, and beckoned with a careful motion of his hand.

In Callum's childhood one of the teenagers in their nomadic group had spun wild stories about large monsters with big teeth who gobbled up little kids when they slept. At the time it had been horrifying, but his mother had told him time and time again that they weren't real. It was just a story. Fake.
Looking at this thing let Callum know that he had never been so happy not to be young in his entire life.
And yet, the limbara looked as if by squinting it's eyes the beast could visualize Callum as a little boy prime for munching on.
He took slow half steps backward towards the sound of Nimueh's voice, completely unwilling to look away from this creature. So far so good. One of his steps must have been too hasty, for the limbara made a sort of snorting noise, somewhere between a grunt and a growl. It was enough to put the fear of every God both he and his lover knew into his very soul. Trying again, Callum focused on steadying his breathing, and hoped that this veneer of calm could keep the limbara from charging.
Out of his peripheral vision the swordsman could make out what he thought to be a hand, and with his own still extended Callum reached back to take it. "I think," His voice was slow, but noticeably shaken. "we should go back."
This was one of the few times Callum wasn't planning on putting himself infront of Nimueh should the worst happen. His lover was larger and had a shield; let him use it.

What was it with the two of them, and finding themselves in these situations? Once Callum had gripped onto his hand, Nim side-stepped and allowed Callum to move behind him. Though taller, and larger now, than Callum was, he was still puny compared to the size of this creature - but it would, hopefully, pause a moment longer in its consideration of them.
From here, Nim wasn't sure what sort of tactic would be best. Carefully shifting his head to the side, he took in the expanse beyond - the gently sloping hills back towards the settlement, compared to the veritable shelter of trees beyond. They knew very little of the limbara's capabilities - but what he did know was that there was no fur to be seen on its flank. How in gods' name was it going to survive out here?? Was it possible prey for them, or simply an inconvenience??
Backing up with the same measured, slow steps, Nim grunted softly in agreement. He wished he had his shield out, if only to make himself appear larger, but the motion to unfasten it would be too risky, that and he doubted his wooden shield would do much to prevent that maw from snapping it in two.
Watching as they moved, the limbara followed them with its head, nostrils flaring. As it moved to properly stand, its motions were slow and measured - was it freezing, out here?? Hopefully, Nimueh thought, that would be on their side. It may not want to chase them ... although, if it was hungry enough, it might just to get meat. "If it charges, run to the trees."
