It didn't take very long for Anxo to get ready for his date after he finally finished baking. Of course he decided last minute to bring his date for the evening a small gift. After reading the card he received over and over again he finally decided on baking something for his special someone! After all, it was an automatic stab in his heart with cupid's arrow of excitement when under liked items 'cupcakes' was listed! It was such a better little gift than flowers! They could be devoured right away, and not lugged around like some sort of burden!
So soon after getting the little letter, be began to bake! Not a huge batch, only four mini cupcakes that could be stored in a neat little container he had picked up at the nearby baking supply story just for such an occasion. He was no master baker, of course, but the young man could whip up some delicious and relatively attractive looking sweets when he tried! On tonight's sampling menu were two of his favorites! First was a dark chocolate cupcake with mint buttercream frosting and decorated with dark chocolate sprinkles, and a more carefully constructed apple cinnamon cup cake with a caramel buttercream frosting, with little bits of shimmery gold sprinkles on top.
Just as he was finishing up decorating his gift and ignoring imagining just how excited his date would be upon receiving the gift, his cellphone went off! Just an hour left until he was to meet his mystery date! And with a very soft, yet smiling oh s**t! he threw himself into the shower, into his closet, then out the door, gift in tow!
He was greeted at the door of the museum with about fifteen minutes to spare, to which he was both baffled and thrilled by! That meant.. Enough time to swing by the refreshment table and grab himself some of those tasty mini sandwiches, then return to his spot for his date, right beneath Persephone's adoring gaze. While he waited, he looked about the area in excitement, rocking back and forth on his heels and thinking of all the fun things he and his date could do together! Hopefully, he really enjoyed the cupcakes right off the bat!

Arian stared at the white note card that he received a few days back. He already knew what it contained however, after all it wasn't the first time that he'd read it: The museum will open its doors at 6:45pm for the birds that like to be early. You will be meeting with your partner on the first floor in front of the statue of Persephone.He slipped the card back into the small red envelope it had come in with a quiet sigh and slipped the envelope into the small satchel that he was taking with him. To be honest Arian wasn't particularly enthusiastic about this "date" thing that was being held over at the Destiny City Museum of Art, however he had ended up promising Saffy that he would try to be more social after she had got on his case about turning into a shut in. And whilst he hadn't expected her to bring up the museum event, he also couldn't say no - in part because he had promised and in part because she had helped him in setting things up so that he could continue to pay for the apartment after Orah's disappearance. But that didn't mean he wanted to go. A promise was a promise though and he had promised to try and so he had pulled out a waistcoat and shirt and paired them with some slacks and a pair of his nicer boots. He had settled for putting his hair up in a high ponytail and had contemplated whether he wanted to wear the tie that went with the waistcoat. He had ended up ditching it in the end however, figuring that he looked plenty smart as it was and the tie would just be overkill - not to mention the fact that he didn't particularly like wearing ties. He'd been running slightly late at that point despite his best intentions and so had headed over to the museum - which bought him to the now and the card that he had just slipped into his satchel. A part of him found himself wondering a little about his 'date' as he made his way towards the statue of Persephone that was his apparent meeting point as he wondered not for the first time if he should have brought something along with him. There was a soft and sweet sounding melody playing about the museum that Anxo noticed while waiting for his companion for the evening. He wasn't the only on standing around waiting too, all of them looking just as nervous, if not more so, than he was! But as nervous as he was, it could not compare to the excitement he felt! A new person to meet! A new person to get to know and love! What could be more wonderful than that?
But... The person was late.. And as each minute passed, the more disheartened Anxo became. Maybe he couldn't come, maybe he thought this was a waste of time... Maybe he was just shy and was looking around nearby! Picking himself back up again, he looked about the area after looking at the card again. It says look for long hair first. That made him chuckle on it's own, since he had put that down as well! But there were so many people already here with such long flowing hair that he felt it too vaugue to really distinguish one person from another.
So he waited just a bit more, hoping that his date would come, until finally someone seemed to approach him. Like a puppy sensing someone coming to the door, he perked up immediately, straightning his bag on his shoulder and smoothing down one last run away strand before the person came up to him. Finally, when they were face to face, he beamed down at him. He was so short! Ah! That was wonderful! Standing at 5'7ish himself, he felt like he was perhaps kinda intimidating... He certainly hoped not!
"Good evening! Might you be Arian?"

Arian had noticed the music playing around the museum as he made his way up towards where the statue of Persephone was located, however it had been more in an absent sort of way rather than any real attempt to listen into the melody because he was running late already and didn't really have the time to linger. As according to the note card, the statue was on the first floor, he had opted for the stairs over trying to look for and then wait for a lift, his feet taking the steps at a brisk pace in an attempt to at least try not to be any later than he already was. As it turned out, the statue had turned out to be not that far from the stair landing and Arian's pace had slowed a little as he noticed the young man waiting by the statue, although he continued to walk towards the statue. He had skimmed the details provided by the person who was apparently going to be his date for the evening, and whilst the man waiting by the statue had long braided hair, that didn't necessarily mean that he was the Anxo mentioned on the back of the card. Still Arian figured that he could always ask. He opened his mouth to call out a good evening to the waiting young man, but at that point the other had noticed him walking towards him and had beaten him to and so instead Arian had nodded slightly as he said quietly "Good evening to you as well. Yes I'm Arian. Are you Anxo by any chance?" Kapoodles Apologies for taking so long to tag back on this Poods. Meta kind of ate me for the longest while

"I am! It's a pleasure to meet you, Arian." Now that he was face to face with his date for the evening, he wasn't quite sure what to say. It wasn't as if they were truly romancing eachother at this moment, right? Friends first and foremost! And of course Anxo would go the route of traditional friendship rated games and offer his partner a gift!
"Ah, I did read your card earlier, and saw you really liked cupcakes and things.. So I went ahead and baked some mini ones for you. They're nothing fancy but I figured it would be a nice treat for later." He nodded, more to reassure himself that it wasn't a stupid idea than anything else. The cupcakes where offered with a bit of a sheepish smile, though the young man really couldn't bring himself to keep eye contact with the other. Something about this all began to worry him. He never did have much luck with small talk.
"It seems like the whole event is going well! Is there anyone else here you recognize, or are you here among strangers just like me?"

"It's nice to meet you too Anxo" Arian said quietly and whilst he wasn't any more enthusiastic about the whole 'date' thing, the small that accompanied the polite words was friendly enough. He looked startled at the other's mention of cupcakes, eyes shifting automatically towards them as Anxo offered them to him "Thank you, I love cupcakes" and there was a touch more warmth to his smile, before the smile faded because it was clear that Anxo had gone to a lot of trouble and he hadn't even bothered to bring a gift. "I'm sorry" and there was a tinge of awkward red along his cheek bones as he admitted quietly "But I didn't bring anything myself."

"I'd like to think I pay decent enough attention to things, so I'm glad I picked to do that!" What a darling reaction he received at the offering of cupcakes. So far so good, he thought, especially since this was a first meeting and all! But it seemed to be so short lived when the warm sweet smile gave way to a rather... He was unsure how to describe it, but the smile seemed to go straight away.
Oh... Oh, it was because of the gift!
"No, no no, don't worry nothing of it! Believe me, I ate so many before I got here. You know, make a whole bunch and give the perfect ones away and horde the rest? Believe me, this was nearly as big of a treat to me as it is a gift to you." Anxo's words were as honest and earnest as he could give them. The cup cakes floated awkwardly between them until the young man reached out, took Arian's own hand (with permission of course) and placed the box into his palm.
"Think of it this way, you brought yourself. Your smile, your time is a gift to me in itself! Atleast I am not like some of the poor others around here who were stood up." His gaze shifted to a few people who were still standing awkwardly alone, fidgeting with a tie, or twirling their hair. It was still kinda early so maybe they'd come soon enough. Anxo did say a little wish on their behalf that there was something interesting that would happen for them tonight. It would be such a shame otherwise!

Even though Anxo had told him not to worry about it, Arian couldn't help but still feel guilty because the other had gone to so much trouble than he had. Arian hadn't even wanted to turn up.. In fact he wouldn't have turned up, if it hadn't been for his promise to his cousin. It just... Just seemed like a poor exchange on behalf of the other, especially since the other was being sweet about the fact that he hadn't bothered to bring a gift. A touch on his hand was enough to break his chain of thought, his eyes looking startled beneath his glasses for a moment, until he realised that Anxo was trying to hand him the cupcakes. It startled a small smile from him that was on the slightly rueful smile - although it was a smile nonetheless. "I'm still not convinced that you're really getting a particularly great deal out of having me as a partner for the evening" the admission was a quiet one and as rueful as the small smile. His smile softened as he looked at the box with the cupcakes in his hands "But thank you for the cupcakes - they look lovely."

Anxo was really beginning to think that this night might not go as nicely as he thought. It kinda ached inside his chest when he realized he couldn't quite make this young man smile like he had wished. In his mind he had imagined a more flustered reaction, someone a bit more bashful or excited to be given a gift out of nowhere. Okay, maybe not out of nowhere but this, what they were experiencing right now, very much blindsighted him.
"Well... Um.." It was taking a moment for Anxo to collect his thoughts on the entire matter. What was he supposed to say to this? Such negativity was beginning to get contagious! Alas, he couldn't just this run it's course! What a downer of a night that would turn out to be!
"As lovely as the cupcakes are, I assure you that you in your entirety are far lovelier." There was the temptation to take the other's hand once more and kiss the back of it, but the mood was already kinda down, and he really didn't want to risk something that would cause it to just go south for the winter.
"Did you have any plans for tonight? I mean, for our night out together. There are activities here but I'm all for going out on the town. There's a few shows out we could go see, or a food tasting down town. Ooh, and there's a few tea shops we could go to. Like the really fancy ones with very fancy tea cups and entire trays of sandwiches and pastries! Oooh, oooh! Or maybe we could do one of those couple classes going on? Dancing, or painting! I set a few reservations in... Okay, a lot of reservations all over the town, for today, with no intention of going to them all, so we could think of something! And hey, even if we cancel on them, it'll make someone else's night!" In his own sort of shy nervousness he found himself rambling on, but his excitement and enthusiasm of just really wanting to spend time with his date couldn't be ignored. It was there and vibrant and ready to be the knight or gentleman or damsel his date wanted or needed him to be.
That is, if Arian really wanted him to be anything.
"Of course, I won't keep you if you'd rather go home. What fun would it be if there's too much weighing on your mind to relax? If that's the case... We could always exchange emails or something until you'd like to hang out again."

The cupcakes had looked so inviting that after a few moments of staring at them, Arian hadn't been able to resist reaching down to pick one up, but his hand had stilled at Anxo's 'lovely' compliment as his cheeks reddened. "Thank you" he said, although his voice was slightly awkward. "You're really sweet." And then felt his face redden further, because whilst he had meant it, because so far Anxo had really come across as sweet - his words were probably as lame as they sounded. He shook his head as the other asked him if he'd managed to make any plans for the date, because outside of coming here he really hadn't. But whilst he knew that he hadn't been a particularly great 'date' so far, Arian had promised Saffy that he would try. And there was something about the other's enthusiasm that had his lips quirking up in another of his small smiles despite himself. "It's been a while since I've been to a tea shop" he admitted, because truth be told he hadn't being doing much outside of classes and crafting stuff for the Etsy shop - at least he hadn't been doing much on the Arian front. "But are there even any open at this time?" And then he hesitated for a moment before asking "But is there something that you really want to do Anxo?" Because so far the conversation had pretty much just been on what he wanted to do. Kapoodles He is awkwardly trying -> very awkwardly trying

"I'd say sweet was my middle name, but more likely than not it would probably be 'messy' or 'overenthusiastic', but I digress!"
It seemed that the idea of the teashop was rather appealing to Arian, and he rather liked the idea too! Especially if it did manage to get the other to smile at the suggestion.
"Oh, well, Valentines Day and what not. Special hours for Couples. Especially for those who work Nine to Five and never seem to have time to go when the place is actually open for regular business Hours. A sweet day for sweeties! And the place has the most delicious cream puffs. And a three tier tray with snacks for two. I say snacks, but you'll leave with leftovers every time!" Anxo really did enjoy the place. Hell, he would be more than happy to give advertisements away for them and be a walking billboard, singing praises constantly of how wonderful they were!
Upon being asked what he wanted to do, his own cheeks rosied up, and he couldn't resist the faltering of his smile.
"Truly? What I want to do is to spend time with you, and to see you smile and enjoy yourself tonight. I think that this city has gone through a lot recently... And everyone is affected differently by this chaotic mess of things. And it's a bit arrogant of me to think I'm capable of something, but if I really could just make tonight wonderful for just one person," He paused, chuckling and grinning once more. "One very handsome person I might add, then I think I'll feel like I've helped their world a little bit. And maybe even make a friend out of this very handsome person as well."

Arian had been a little startled at Anxo's reaction to his question as he wasn't sure what he'd said to make the taller man flush. A part of him couldn't help but feel a little bit relieved that he wasn't the only person flushing - even if Arian knew that his face probably resembled a tomato right now. And Anxo's kind compliments weren't really helping on the tomato front. "Well I wouldn't mind checking out that tea shop you mentioned" he admitted with another small smile, "And perhaps trying a cream puff." Because he had a sweet tooth and it had been a while since he'd had a cream puff. "And if there's something that you want to check out then maybe we do that too." Because it sounded like Anxo had gone through a lot of effort and whilst Arian hadn't been nearly as enthusiastic, he found that - promise aside - he didn't want to hurt the other man's feelings. The smile faded into a thoughtful frown "Well at least unless you want to hang about the museum for a little longer?" He made the last a quiet question. "I think this place would probably be more appealing when it's not dollied up for the holiday. So maybe, if things go well, we can come back and see the place in it's normal glory. And the place isn't too far, just down the street and around the corner." It really was a nice place, but he didn't want to be one of those people who was going through the place with his date when there were still people alone. With a quick nod, he exited out of the museum, making sure that he was being followed by his date.
"Let me ask you something... You're not a very selfish person, are you?" Immediately, Anxo bit his lip, realizing what he said could be taken the wrong way. How? He didn't know, but he was sure some people could just make issues out of everything.
"What I mean is... You always think of others, don't you? It just seems that way, with the apologizing, and the asking what I wanted to do... It kinda makes me think that you didn't really come out here on your own. Like, you had someone suggest it or promised it... And that's okay, it really is! Just don't feel like your obligated to do anything."

Arian's lips quirked up slightly in a not quite smile at Anxo's comment, as he followed the taller man towards the exit of the museum. Because whilst the museum wasn't somewhere that he tended to visit that much, it was true that the place looked very much 'Valentine-y'. It was cool outside the museum, but not unpleasantly so, however it was enough to have Arian lengthen his stride a little as he stepped after Anxo. The other's question came a little out of left field, Arian's expression one of visual startlement as he looked upwards. He hesitated for a few moments, not answering immediately - because truth be told Anxo had kind of hit the nail in the head in that he hadn't signed up for the museum event of his own volition. "You're kind of right and kind of not" Arian said at last quietly, although his voice didn't sound offended. "The whole museum thing wasn't really my idea." He continued "But I'm plenty selfish" a slightly rueful note slipped into his quiet voice "And I really wouldn't mind checking out that tea shop you mentioned - but if there's something that you want to check out then I'm game for that too." He hesitated for a moment before admitting "Although if you want to do dancing classes then I should probably admit to being a lousy dancer." If Anxo really wanted to then Arian would try though - in part of because of his earlier promise and in part because he had already made the decision that he was going to... And also because it didn't seem right for it to just be about what he wanted to do.

Anxo really should have learned to stop prying into people's business. Sometimes he was just too observant for his own good. Arian really had seemed like he didn't want to be here, and from the look of him it didn't seem like he'd be the sort to come out to these sort of things on his own. And that was totally fine! It just kinda made him wonder what would have caused him to have to promise coming out on his own? Did his friends see him as lonely or upset? He wouldn't pry any more, not right now.
"Kinda right kinda not... Seems about how life is right now, huh? And that's fine." The whole situation right now just kinda blew, in Anxo's opinion. There was an overall air of just offness that he didn't know how to handle with a stranger. His normal methods of hugs and hand holding and kind words just seemed inappropriate right now. And is sucked. Boy, oh boy did it suck.
For now, He didn't change his direction in walking, nor his final destination for now.
"Think of it this way, Arian. I compiled a list of things to do, based both of our shared preferences. It was kinda selfish of me to have made an entire list of things to do, since that ensure that I'll enjoy it either way. And do understand, I want us to make this evening a good memory, for both of us." A moment was taken to spin on his heel and begin to walk backwards, giving a cheeky grin at his newfound acquaintance.
"So please, allow me to make the night as lovely as you are." Before he realized it, they were before the tea shop he was so excited to visit. The Four Seasons Tea Room was indeed a quaint place, with hats and old pictures from the 50's all around. It just screamed cozy and quaint and home run. With a bow, the sprightly young man held the door open for his companion. "After you!"
