Snow? Snow? This was highly unacceptable. Clutching her jacket both tighter and closer to her, she trudged through inches of snow in attempts to make her way down the street - her boots were made for fashion, not battling incorrigible weather patterns. The mall had been closed due to inclement weather, but nobody had thought to call her and let her know. So it was irritating, to say the least, to have been forced out into this blizzard, only to be forced to turn around and come home. What nerve! The sky was filled with flurries and it was starting to get hard to see (at least, for Priscilla's point of view, which always tended to be slightly more dramatic than normal). Eyes scanned the rows of shops alongside the pavement for a place to duck into, at least until the weather let up. mewrose sorry for the delay, m'dear. The Sickness has gotten me, so I've been in bed for most of the last 24 hours. Hope this is an okay start!

Lara sniffled and peered down the street, already regretting her decision to step outside. She hadn't even considered the weather before leaving her house; her mind was on getting to the convenience store for more cold medicine. It was just down the road, not far at all. She was actually halfway there before she realized it was not a good day to be out, but by then it seemed like a shame to come this far without getting the medicine, so she kept on. She just hoped it hadn't closed due to tho weather. It was one of those 24-hour ones that never seemed to close for anything. It just seemed to be taking longer to get there than it ought to. She tugged her scarf closer to her face and trudged on, looking hopefully around until...there it was! The bright glow of the store's sign shone like a beacon, and she eagerly quickened her pace. She hardly noticed anyone - or anything - along the way until a misstep slipped her foot smack-dab into a slushy puddle, accidentally splashing another pedestrian. Lara stumbled, windmilling her arms, and just managed to catch herself before she fell over into the snow. Then she noticed the other woman nearby, just out of reach of her flailing arms. "Sorry," she said, her voice muffled by her scarf, then hurried on to the store. She really wanted to get inside right now.

" Sorry??" Not only was she being snowed on from above, but now she was being splashed with snow-slush too? One gloved hand flew out to flag down the offending woman, but she was already yards away, clearly oblivious to Prissy's indignant cry after her. It was only then that the pinkette also noticed the neon sign of the convenience store, which was really quite...well, convenient. Hmph. Scraping at the slush with her gloves did nothing but soak her gloves - Prissy quickly changed tactics and hustled her way towards the welcoming sign, where no doubt warm shelter lay within. It was only after making it through the sliding automatic doors that she unbuttoned her jacket, then raised both of her hands to shake the snowflakes from her curls. Glancing to the side, she noticed a familiar figure - that woman. "You!" Her voice raised the attention of both the cashier and the poor attendant at the makeup station. Neither were the aim of her attack - no - her focus was on the lady in the scarf perusing the nearby medicine aisle. "You splashed me!"

The warm air in the convenience was such a relief after the chilly snowstorm. Lara sighed and shook the snow off her boots before strolling towards the medicine section. She was not in a hurry to leave, so she decided to take her time browsing among them. The indignant shout of "You!" made her jerk her head up in surprise, but she didn't know who it was directed at until it was followed by "You splashed me!" Lara looked over towards the voice and saw a woman by the door, clearly just in from the snow. She blinked a couple times, startled by the extreme reaction. Hadn't she apologized? "Sorry," she said again, just to be safe. "It's rather hard to keep my footing in this kind of weather, my foot slipped."

She paused, her scowl lessening into a general frown. The anger that had been swelling up inside of her just as quickly deflated as the girl began apologizing. Prissy had mistakenly assumed that the girl would have been just as grumpy as she was and ready to get equally as angry against Prissy's assault as Prissy had gotten from being splashed. "Oh." Glancing down at her jacket, she refused to admit that the splash stain seemed smaller than it had only minutes earlier. Maybe she had overreacted. Maybe. "I guess you're right." Growing quiet, she looked back towards the sliding doors. Still snowing. Drats. She might as well make the most of it for a few moments and wait for a break between snowfalls before venturing back out again. Her attention drew towards the aisle the woman had been heading towards. Medicine? An eyebrow rose. "You're not contagious, are you?"

Lara relaxed when the other woman accepted her apology. She had seem so riled up that Lara hadn't been sure that would be enough to calm her. She was about to go back to browsing medicines when the woman noticed what she'd been looking at. "Contagious?" she echoed, resisting the urge to sniffle. She started to shake her head, then paused. At what stage was a cold contagious, anyway? "Not sure, actually. But it's just a cold. The kind everyone gets this time of year." She shrugged. "I ran out of cold medicine, is all. I hadn't realized the snow was coming down this quickly, or I might not have bothered heading out."

"Well shouldn't you just..." Her hand waved as her brain attempted to catch up to her mouth with her wording. "...have...someone else go out and get it for you? Or have it delivered?" She kept her fair distance from the stranger, the element of contagion still lingering in the air. Cold, flu - it could be hayfever for all she cared but Prissy wasn't going to take any chances. No red noses and sweaty foreheads for her! Without thinking about it, she pulled her jacket closer to her, despite the fact the store was almost too-warm in temperature, to compete with the cold outdoors. "You shouldn't be out if you're sick. That's just going to make you sick- er!" mewrose I'm sorry, every other character of mine would be sympathetic. We have chosen the Bad Apple emotion_facepalm

Lara just shook her head. "No, I live alone, so I don't have anyone around to send out for medicine. And..." she paused, surprised at the second suggestion. "Is there actually any place that delivers medicine? I hadn't heard of anything like that." She tried to think back, maybe if she'd heard of a pharmacy that offered that service, but still couldn't think of anything. And after a moment another thought occurred to her and she shrugged. "Even if someone did deliver medicine, they'd probably charge and arm and a leg to do so. Way more than a pack of cold medicine costs anyway. Wouldn't be worth it." She decided to interpret the other woman's last comment as concern for her well-being and smiled. "Really, it's not that bad, just a stuffy nose kind of cold. Nothing a hot drink and a decongestant can't fix." She glanced out the store window at the snow and added, "Though I'm not exactly eager to get back out into the cold. That kind of weather just makes your nose run more, no matter how healthy you are." Ghouliboo No worries. Considering her nickname is "Prissy," I kind of expected her to act like this. razz

Her mouth opened to argue - surely the cost would be worth avoiding such a hassle - but she closed it shortly after. No, not everyone could pay someone else to fetch their necessities to keep themselves out of the cold, bitter weather. She kept forgetting that tiny tidbit. Pity for them, then. Sighing, she joined the girl in window gazing. There had to have been at least another quarter of an inch since their joint arrival into the store. As a child, she adored snowy days. As an adult...not so much. It caused more problems than pleasures, like delays, wet clothing or in this lady's case, sickness. "I wonder if it'll ever let up," she murmured out loud, a soft yawn following. What she wouldn't do to get back home, snuggle under some blankets and treat herself to a hot cocoa - with extra marshmallows, at that! Crossly, she turned to look down the other aisles of the store. "Does this place even have hot drinks available?"

Lara shrugged at the other woman's quiet comment, still staring at the snow. "It has to stop eventually. It can't snow forever," she replied reasonably. Then after a moment she added, "But whether it stops soon enough for us to get home without walking through it is another question altogether." The woman's question was a good one, though, and sudden;y made Lara long for a cup of something warm to wrap her hands around. She glanced around as well, not sure if this was one of the convenience stores that had stuff like hotdogs and fountain drinks. After a moment she spotted those in a corner near the registers, and soon located the coffee maker beside them. "Looks like coffee's over there," she said, pointing. "I wouldn't mind a cup of that myself." She glanced over at the cold medicine again, picked a small box off the shelf, and headed towards the coffee. Maybe they'd have hot cocoa, too. Nothing better than cocoa on a snowy evening. Ghouliboo Ah! Sorry, I thought I'd posted in this already.

Her nose wrinkled. Coffee from the convenience store? Sure, she wanted a drink, but when that drink was dispensed by strangers who probably made minimum wage and didn't care to wash their hands all the time because they made pennies instead of dollars....no ma'am. No ma'am, she wasn't going to partake in any sort of that liquid nonsense. Feeling adequately dried off from the splash, Prissy pulled the furry hood of her jacket up and over her pink curls. " You can test out their coffee, but I'm going to take my chances out there in the blizzard." Nope - she might ultimately get herself splashed a time or two before she got home, but at least home would have the perfect cup of cocoa, along with tiny marshmallows and away from anyone exhibiting any signs of The Sickness. Making her way towards the door, she paused to turn back to the stranger, feeling a moment of pity for her situation. "I do hope you feel better, though." With that, the sliding door squeaked its way open and the haughty woman stomped through the snow accumulating outside the convenience store's doorway. mewrose No worries, things have been getting pretty busy for me anyhow - did you want to wrap us up, so you can have a credit towards your february token?

Lara was mildly puzzled why the other woman had asked about hot drinks, then seemed so adamantly against it, but she just shrugged. "Suit yourself," she said. She still wanted a drink, even if convenience store coffee was never exactly top-notch. While the woman headed for the door, she headed for the corner with the coffee machines. Then the woman surprised her again by offering well-wishes. Lara smiled back at her and managed a "Thanks!" before the woman was out the door. Then she turned back to the prospect of coffee. Then she sneezed, sniffled, and headed for the napkins near the drinks. With no tissues in sight, they would have to do. Ghouliboo Wrapping up sounds good. Thanks for the RP!
