Yushika! Ella had, for the most part, been focusing on breaking her jump rope record. She had gotten to 90 before, and now she was determined to get to 100. Forget the fact she was a wee child and probably was overdoing it. Also forget the fact that the first time she did 90 she was exhausted and needed to sit down. Ella had high expectations for herself, and she had ignored the health teachers warnings and frantically pushed herself to a limit.
Now, Ella had decided to give up for the time being, setting aside the jumprope to collapse on the bleachers and let out a shaky sigh. Health class would be over soon, and Ella had yet to break her record. She really didn't want to go to math after, either. Maybe she could find a way to stay? Convince Kirket to let her hang around for another 10-20 minutes? No.... he wouldn't go for that, would he?

nepsah! Korvau loved this class. It was his absolute favorite. He got to do alllll sorts of active things, and his MOST FAVORITE THING to do ever, was laps. He'd done fifteen whole laps around the gym once! Today he was going to try and do sixteen, and then he could have a Fun and Interesting thing to tell Nex and Willow about later. Unfortunately, his legs had other plans. At about lap ten, they started feeling a little... wobbly.
Lap twelve, well...... He teetered over to the bleachers and crumpled down onto the bench next to another freshling, not even really paying attention. He was actually tired for once in his whirlwind life. After some resting, he sighed and shook his head, ears flapping a little - and then he noticed her. "OH!!" He exclaimed, raising his hands in an excited sign of greeting. "I didn't see you!! HI!"

Yushika! Ella hadn't been watching the others at play. Sure, she heard that one of the kids were running a bunch of laps, but Ella had been too focused on her own achievements. Besides, that boy was always running laps! The other kids whispered in hushed words whenever he went waaaay further than any of them, but Ella paid it no mind. He was like her, probably, and lived for this stuff.... He probably didn't even care there were other students in the same classroo-
Oh. Scratch that.
Ella blinked in alarm, ears flipping downward as a familiar flicker of embarrassment and shyness rushed through her. She reflectively grabbed her tail, clinging to it for dear life before chancing a response. "U-Um, hello..... Korvau, was it?"

nepsah! Oh boy, she was an imp, too! Or. Part imp? IMP HYBRID! He beamed widely, tail wagging enthusiastically behind him as he scooted on the bench to face her. "Yeah!! I'm Korvau!" He nodded his head. "And youuuuu're...." Oh boy. Oooh no. She knew his name, but he didn't know hers. Or did he? He narrowed his eyes, thinking hard about it--
"ELLA!" He exclaimed once he recalled the name - it wasn't like he paid attention during roll call... He was too busy thinking about what sort of games he'd get to play. "Did you get tired too??"

Yushika! Oh Nine! She jumped when he screeched her name, looking around frantically to ensure no one had heard before turning to him, hands raised. "Y-yeah. I'm Ella." She whispered, as if whispering could offset his screams. Her ears flicked at the question, nodding faintly in response.
"Y-yeah. I did. Did you?" Well, duh, Ella, why else was he sitting down with her? "How far did you get?" She quickly added, cheeks evolving into a new shade of blue. Calm, Ella. Calm. It wasn't like Korvau was going to grab her and throw her around, right?

nepsah! "UMMMM!" He sat back, thinking, not really noticing her nervousness yet. "I got almost to um..." He held up his hands, counting slowly as he tried to figure out how many times he'd been around the room. "Umm.... ten and three make thirteen, right???" He looked over to Ella, blinking, hands still up with his fingers half bent or sticking straight up as if he were still counting.
"I'm not really good with the numbers that have two in them... UM, the bigger than tens!" He shrugged, then sighed. "You like to jump rope, huh???"

Yushika! "Thirteen, yes." Ella for once was proud. She knew a math answer! She couldn't help but smile in her pride before tilting her head, eyes rolling to the jumprope by her hand. "O-oh, yes. I like to run, too. And swim. And..... basically anything." This was her class. Most kids were good at Language Arts, or Math, but she was terrible at those subjects. She wasn't at all like her parents, who had special skills and could impress everyone else. No. She was just athletic, and no one really.... cared about that.
"M-My record is 90.... 90 jumps." She whispered, nervously running her nails over one another. "I was trying to get to 100...."

nepsah! "Oh good!" He clapped his hands together, excited that he'd gotten it right. Iah had been trying really hard to help him with his numbers but uuuugh he just couldn't grasp it! He didn't like reading, or adding, or... any of that other fancy stuff he was supposed to do with numbers. And he definitely didn't like science.... But sports? He loved sports. So, when Ella mentioned that she liked those things... he sat straight up, ears raised up high, tail held to perfect attention. "You do!?" He gasped, and then scooted a bit closer to her across the bench.
"I like that too!! ALLLLLL of it - but swimming is my very favoritest." He nodded again, then wiggled excitedly when she mentioned how many jumps she'd done. "That's ssoOOOOO MANY!! I think you can do it!!""

Yushika! Oh no. He moved closer. Why? Did she have something on her? Was he about to point out how fluffy her tail had gotten? Brushing it was hard, okay?! How did Papa Cael do i-
Wait. What? Really? She practically lit up, tail wagging as it freed itself from her hands to wiggle behind her. "Really? I haven't met anyone else who likes all those things, too." She chirped back, eyes lighting up until, with an embarrassed squeak, she looked down. "Is that a lot? I feel like I could do better....."

nepsah! "Yeah!! Me neither!" He nodded, practically about to fall off of the bench with how much wiggling he was doing - that tail of his could take someone's eye out, honestly. "Alllllll my friends like to do inside stuff or maybe some outside stuff but really smart outside stuff and I don't get it but I reaaaaaaAAAALLLLY like to just DO THINGS. All the things." He nodded, talking almost a mile a minute with how excited he was.
"YEAH!! THAT'S SOOOOO MANY!! Like-- LIKE... NINE TENS!" He waved his arms, volume rising again with how enthusiastic he was. "You can do it!! I wanna get to twen--twenty! laps!! but I got tired too fast today..."

Yushika! Oh no, she had to focus to understand him! What was he saying? He was excited... all his friends did "inside stuff", and some did really smart outside stuff. Her eyes blinked at him as she tried to comprehend the literal mass of fluff and excitement before her until it clicked. So he was like her, basically!
"I-I believe you can!" She stammered, hands flying up as she gave an encouraging smile. "M-maybe we could run together sometime? I-I could help encourage you?" Did she say that word right? Encourage.... encourage. Oh man, she probably butchered it and now he was going to laugh!

nepsah! Run together. She... she wanted to run with him??? He nodded excitedly, ears flopping about again. "Yes!!! I'd really like that! I don't have anyone to run with so I just gotta do it alone but it gets kind of boring sometimes even if its one of my favorite things. it's just rEAAALLY nice to have someone to do it with!" He finally paused to take a breath, giving Ella a brief moment's reprieve from his excited chatter. "Maybe I can do jump rope with you!! And encou-- encourage?? you too!!" Honestly he had no idea how to say that word, and wasn't even sure if he knew what it meant... But Ella had used it, so he repeated it back to her.

Yushika! So they were gym buddies? Ella's ears flicked up, eyes lighting up. Trying to beat her record would be so much easier with a partner beside her! Someone to motivate her! Tail wiggling, the little hybrid tilted her head to the side, offering a shy but pleasant smile.
"I'd like that!" She squeaked, flushing as she realized how high her voice had went. Whoop. Forget that, please! "I mean.... that'd be nice. Maybe sometime, when I visit mommy, we could practice breaking our records there? She has a nice big yard?"

nepsah! Korvau practically wiggled his way off of the bench with how excited he was. In fact, he did eventually stand so that he could hop in place - unable to sit still any longer. Ella had a house?? HE WAS GONNA GO TO HER HOUSE?! He emitted a shrill squeal, nodding enough to cause one of his ears to smack his face. Well. That put an end to that. "YESYESYES!!! I'd like that a lot!! I bet we can do ittt!!!!" He clapped his hands together, still hopping - though he stopped when he heard Kirket call them all in for the end of class. He pouted - now he wouldn't get to talk to Ella more!
"I guess we gotta go, but we can talk more next time!!" He nodded, then darted back over to Kirket, tail wagging excitedly.
