It had been a long time just sorta ... moseying about and doing pretty much his own thing. He just pretty much hung out and helped at whatever outpost needed him, because that seemed how he'd be most useful.

Now? Now, he was back here getting a coffee at the cafeteria, as well as a small pastry to snack on. He moved to have himself a seat at a table.

Good just about everyone looked unfamiliar. He'd have been worried if he recognized someo--Was that Otto?

He reached up a hand to wave, "Hey? Remember me?" Jude called out a bit louder so Otto could hear him.

Otto Graves was raiding the vending machine for cans of coke and some granola bars. Midway through hogging the machine for himself, and armful of loot in hand, he heard his name being called. At first, he assumed the authorities of Vending Machine fairness were afoot, and was ready to bolt.

But then he actually looked to who'd called him...

He had a moment of pause, as he realized it was his brother of all people. A man he hadn't seen (or cared to think about) in a long while. But now? Now, well...

It couldn't hurt to spend more time with him.

Otto nodded, moseying over to where the man was taking space. "Sup?" He decided he'd take a break from cleaning out the machine, letting his cans and bars slide onto the table in a small pile before slumping into a seat at the table.

While he was at it, he opened himself a coke for himself.

"Not much, just taking a moment to enjoy the lighter things in life," he replied and then took a sip of his coffee. Jude took a look at Otto's haul and raised an eyebrow at it, but then he couldn't exactly judge Otto on it either.

Well, he could, but he was going to try not to.

He quietly leaned forward and grabbed one of the bars to look it over and then set it back down near the pile, "What you been up to, troublemaker?"

Otto's sharp gaze locked onto Jude as he inspected his swag, only relenting when he'd put his prize back where it belonged. Afterward he took a casual chug of his drink.

"Trouble. Obviously." He drawled after a contented breath out thanks to his generous helping of cola. "Glad to see you ain't dead yet." Whether he meant that in jest or not was unclear, as his facial expression didn't waver past a resting b***h face.

"Glad you're alive, too," Jude deadpanned back at his sibling. It was equally hard to tell of Jude was being sincere or not.

Apparently, that was just the Jude and Otto way.

He just shifted his shoulders as he moved to enjoy his own pastry, "Got any plans for more trouble today? I might be willing to join you if you want."

"I already cleaned out a vending machine for myself. Ain't sure how much more criminal I can get in one day." He mumbled with little interest in his tone, as if simply discussing the weather. He took another large drink from the can of cola and set it down.

"I don't got any shifts or nuthin'. I'm all set to be bored as ******** for the rest of the day."

"That sounds boring," Jude let out an actual laugh. "You went from criminal to lazy hood in a span of a few moments," he teased a little.

Not that Jude had a lot of room to talk. Jude's favorite thing to do was to sit in stairways and read. If people wanted to get up or down the stairs they had to walk past him somehow.

Or get him to move.

Basically, Jude had decided to simply become an obstacle.

"I don't got a lot to do either, though. I was just thinkin' about maybe doing some sparring or finding someone to goof with." Jude said and then took a couple of bites out of his treat.

"I ain't been sparrin' much." Otto murmured sullenly, poking at his half empty can of coke. "Got my reasons..." Spars were a lot more survivable than missions. However, his pride was dwindling into nothingness with the growing weight of knowing he may never move past his handicap; the key in his hand.

The mere thought of sparring, knowing he was not at full strength, made him feel down. Or just plain bitter.

"I'm up for doin' stuff, though." The last thing he wanted was to push Jude away. He liked the man just fine. He'd been a bit of an a** to his cousin as it was; he hoped to make amends as far as family was concerned, little by little. That is to say, with as little effort on his part as possible.

"Best I can do is whip plates at yer head for ya." Now that sounded like a good idea.

"Ah. I see. That's fine, I wasn't going to grab you by the face and drag you down to the field," he replied after he swallowed his mouthful of food. Though the thought of dragging Otto about did have a certain amount of temptation. He resisted it dutifully so as to give his brother the space needed.

He sort of nodded his head side to side thoughtfully, "The question is what though? I rather not have you throw s**t at me. As fun as that sounds."

It didn't sound fun at all. Actually.

"We could try to set up some pranks on people?" That sounded like something the hoodlum next to him would enjoy.

"Pranks?" Otto lifted his gaze up. Was this guy 10 years old or something?

"Last time I pulled a prank on someone, I ended up with cat ears on all my hoods and beanies, and found coffee grinds all over my apartment. It took me months to get it all out." He ground his teeth at the memory, with Kat's smug face plastered all over the inside of his eyelids.

"Colour me not interested." He huffed, toying with the can in his hands. "I still like the thought of chuckin' plates at you." Gosh, what a fun-sucker!

Jude wasn't ten years old, but he was bored. Bored enough to just consider shenanigans that were slightly out of character just to have something interesting to do.

"First mistake is that you got caught," is all he said in response to that. What else could he say? He could make fun of Otto for getting caught, but that seemed a little dangerous with Otto having 'ammunition' if he got angry enough to use it.

He sighed a bit, "You won't abuse others but you'll abuse your brother? Tsk. Sounds like you need ... a hug."

Otto narrowed his eyes, levelling a pointed finger in Jude's direction. "Don't you ********' dare." He grumbled in regards to his brother's huggy suggestion.

Jude was possibly bluffing, but it was hard to tell. He'd wrestled with Otto for less.

Instead he just stared blankly at his brother, "How are you going to stop me? Are you afraid of brotherly affection."

Now a days this was how Jude got his kicks, by messing with people. Then again he also spent a lot of time with Ariane who got her kicks in a similar fashion and then there were other people as well.

Jude was doomed to a life of inappropriate behavior.

Otto winced. "No. Just affection in general. And I ain't got any experience on Brotherly Affection, seein' as the only brother I got only ever bugs the s**t outta me." Despite the sass in his tone, he was beginning to feel like having a brother wasn't all bad.

"If that were true, you wouldn't be so full of s**t to begin with," he sassed back.

Why, yes, he did just tell Otto that he was full of s**t.

"So, really, I must be pretty bad at my job as your brother and need to bug you more," he then proceeded to reach a tanned hand out toward his sibling and made creepy crawly motions with his fingertips toward Otto's shoulder as if he was intending to grasp onto him.
