The snow storm that had rolled through town earlier that day had shut down most of the city. It had started early in the morning and continued on until just after sundown, at which point the plows had gotten to work.

Richterite had teleported to a nearby rooftop to watch the progress... And maybe enjoy the scenery a little bit. The plows hadn't made it as far as the theater district yet and the snow was still crisp and beautiful there. Nights like this made him enjoy the power that he had; that he could easily get somewhere like this without driving anywhere. It was also nice to finally do it without having to hop rooftop to rooftop.

There had been a snow storm and it was awesome! Oberon took advantage of being a magical super hero to get awesome sledding in. In fact, he was sledding at that very moment, speeding down a hill on a cheap sled he’d purchased just earlier that evening for this very purpose.

The theatre district had a great hill, but he had to be careful of the turn at the end. Aiming carefully as he approached the building, Oberon had every intention of gracefully avoiding any obstacle, when a sudden chaotic aura suddenly appeared very close by.

Distracted, he hit the curb and tumbled off the sled and into a pile of snow, but all the while trying to keep an eye out for where the aura was coming from, lest he suddenly be attacked.

“I know you’re there!” he called in the direction of the roof as he scrambled back to his feet and brushed off the snow, but something he’d rolled over caused a nasty scrape on his arm, and he winced at the pain.

The sound of another voice joined his thoughts, stirring him out of the quiet contemplation. He felt the aura that had joined him in the area. Order. Simple enough.

Richterite wandered to the edge of the building and hopped over it, landing neatly on the fire escape before taking one more leap to land on the ground. It seemed like a shame to ruin the snow, but that didn't keep him from walking across it. Crunch. Crunch.

"Good night for a bit of fun in the snow, isn't it?" He called back, his voice coming from a space likely closer than the senshi had anticipated.

The voice definitely startled him, if only because he’d initially thought the officer was farther away.

“Hey, woah, keep your distance, bud,” Oberon said when the officer spoke. A Captain from the feel of it. “Looking for civilians to drain?” he wondered as he took a few steps back, but only because he wanted to retrieve the sled that he’d lost track of.

“Don’t be an a*****e… They’ll probably freeze to death if you do end up making someone pass out in the cold,” Oberon pointed out, before squinting to see if he could recognize the officer in question.

"C'mon." He crossed his arms over his chest as he stepped out of the alley and into the light cast by the street lamp, leaning against it completely out in the open. "Other than the guys trying to clean up the streets in those big ol' plows a few streets down do you really think there's anyone else out here besides the two of us? Heck, kid. There's a reason why I picked this part of town."

A light smirk touched his lips as he uncrossed one arm to make a gesture at the sled. "Judging by your equipment there, seems to be a reason why you picked this part of town too."

”Well, I don’t see your sled, so are you telling me you just came out here to… what? Look at the snow?” Oberon asked incredulously. “And I swear to god, don’t call me a kid,” he added with a frown, as if this guy was really that much older than him.

“So you’re just gonna stand there and chat with me? Or should I prepare for you to teleport behind me and try to kill me?” Oberon added. He paused for a few long moments, before letting out a sigh. “Oberon,” he said, “That’s my name. So don’t call me ‘kid’. Who the heck are you?”

"Well met, then, Lord Oberon." He took a step away from the light post, uncrossing both of his arms this time as be bowed with a bit of a flourish before he stood straight once more. There was still a light smirk on his lips. It didn't often leave them.

"Captain Richterite, and I didn't come out here tonight looking for a fight. I left my perch up there," he pointed to the top of the theater roof he had been lounging on, "is because I thought it might be more effective than shouting from the rooftops and ruining an otherwise quiet evening. Would you prefer it if I teleported behind you? I could, but then I might not have the energy to teleport myself back home at the end of the night. I really don't want to trudge back to my apartment through all of that snow..."

Oberon’s eyebrows raised curiously at the title, trying to decide if this guy was serious or if he meant it mockingly. He took a moment to pick up the sled and look it over for any damages that it might have had, but when he found none he was okay with turning back to talk to the Captain.

“Good, because I didn’t want to come out here to fight, either,” he admitted, although it was strange that this guy was not trying to take advantage of the fact that Oberon was still obviously young and therefore must be an easy target.

“So… you’re here to look at the snow, and came down from the roof so you wouldn’t have to yll. You’re kinda strange for a Captain, you know that? Usually by your rank, officers are… kinda brutal.”

"I was sick the day they played the instructional video on how to terrorize ki--" He caught himself before he could say the word again, no more in the mood for a kick to the shin than he was any sort of other attack at the moment. He brushed his fingers through his hair before shaking it off.

"I'll take 'kinda strange for a Captain' as a compliment currently. It's generally easier to get information if you aren't beating it out of someone." That was what he kept telling himself at least. It was how he continued to reason that he was still doing right by the Negaverse in not being as ruthless as some of the others that he had known well at one point.

"How old are you? If you don't mind me asking, since we've already established that I'm not attacking."

”Funny guy, too,” Oberon observed as he planted the edge of the sled into the snow in front of him. It wasn’t too unusual for a Negaverse officer to be friendly. There were some knights and senshi who insisted on being friendly with the Negaverse, too. For him, it really just depended on how they acted.

For a moment he almost didn’t respond, but figured there was no point in hiding his age. There were enough kids around the city that his age wouldn’t reveal who he was. “I’m fifteen, but I’ve been doing this since I was ten,” he explained, not thinking it was that big of a deal, but he knew people were often surprised by young senshi.

"Ten?" By the look on his face, that was a thought that Richterite clearly disapproved of. One hand came up to rub at the bridge of his nose as he thought about the two Chibi scouts that he had encountered recently. The teen in front of him now had somehow made it through five years without getting him self killed.

He either had to be far more intelligent, or he had a much better support group.

"You've been at this as long as I have been, then, Oberon. I was sixteen five years ago, though." He managed another soft smirk as he lowered his hand. "If you ask me, making it through five years of this nonsense at any stage earns you a night off every now and then, don't you think?"

Oberon was used to the reaction. It was a little better now that he was older and was much taller than when he’d been ten, but still… it was easy to pick a teenager from an adult.

“Ah you’ve been around too? Good, you’re not on my s**t list, so you’ve been staying out of too much trouble, I hope,” Oberon said as he crossed his arms over his chest. It was weird, chatting with a Negaverse officer like this. He was so used to being attacked or someone trying to stab him.

He snorted softly in amusement when Captain Richterite mentioned earning a night off every now and then.

“So, what you’re saying… is that you want to try the sled?” he wondered, half serious.

"I've been staying out of trouble with your side, which is going to wind up getting me into trouble with my side." He laughed, knowing that the thought should worry him more than it did; that at one point it might have terrified him. Now?

He pushed it to the back of his mind, refusing to think about it.

That brought his attention to Oberon's question and he found himself eyeing the sled with a brief yearning before shaking his head. "Tempting, but better not. Matter of fact, I should probably get out of here before anyone picks up on the two of us out here. Zip down the hill once more for me? And hey... Make it another six years and meet me back here. If I'm still alive I'll bring you a drink to celebrate."

Staying out of trouble was a good idea, although it was a bit concerning to think that the Captain had to stay out of trouble with his own side as well.

Oberon paused for a moment and then flashed the Captain a grin. “Sounds like a plan. But you know… hopefully we don’t be fighting still in six years.” Hopefully by then they would find a way to work out their differences enough to just chill.

After lifting his hand to give the officer a wave, Oberon picked up his sled so he could make his way back up the hill. Hopefully the Captain would be able to stay out of trouble long enough to buy him the drink he’d promised.
