She learned about the passing of Crims-- Tarren, the boy she'd known since she was a child -- months and months after the fact. Elu reasoned that, had Mouse not returned to Denebola following the knight's death, she wouldn't have known at all. In many ways, the red haired senshi wished she didn't know because knowing hurt and she had no way to grieve.

She couldn't imagine what it was like for her friend's partner.

It had been a horrible day, the day Mouse returned to Denebola, because the sturdy man looked hollow, a shell of who he should have been and the look he'd given her when she asked about Crims...It had been all she needed to know that tragedy had struck.

In many ways, it felt like the ground broke apart beneath her. It was almost as devastating to the senshi of dragonflies as the day her chief had told her that Altais needed to go. But this was different, there was no one for her to stand up to-- to fight against for Crims' life. There was nothing she could do.

Perhaps that was what made her grief so monumental.

And that was how she found herself boarding a ship and travelling to Thrymr. If she was struggling to cope with Crims' death, she couldn't imagine what it was like for his lover. Her voyage was smooth, the ship arriving on the port of Thrymr smoothly and when she stepped from the ship onto the world of Thrymr her head thudded against her chest.

Blue eyes drifted across the sea of faces, the people surging around her until she spotted them-- Ahe. Her heart lurched and she feared she would burst into tears too soon. Slowly, she approached the white haired senshi.

IDK if they were informal enough to refer to each other as Elu and Ahe

Denebola's convoy was met, not with the festive and cheerful greeting as it once might have been, before - but with a quiet and private group of attendants that made sure she and whomever she brought with her were taken care of.

That was how the passage of time was marked, now. Before and after, at least in Ahe's mind.

Before, however, Elu could reach Ahe, she would feel a hand on her arm. Heli's pale face appeared in front of her, his light blonde hair tied back into a neat ponytail at the base of his neck. He looked rather a great deal more tired than usual, shadows under his eyes, but he still managed a wan smile nonetheless.

"Greetings, honored senshi," he said, with a little bow. "You are most welcome here to Thrymr."

He cast a glance over his shoulder at Ahe, who's back was to them, standing only a short distance away and speaking with a group of people all dressed in colorful dancing clothes. For a moment there was something like pain that flashed across Heli's face, and then he turned back to Elu, his strained smile fading.

"Just...they are suffering," he said quietly, with a little shake of his head. "I cannot do much for them."

Heli eased out a breath, gave another small bow, and then stepped towards Ahe, touching their arm.

"You have a visitor, acha."

Elu was confused when someone intercepted her, but relaxed upon seeing exactly who it was. Heli. He was not someone that the dragonfly senshi had interacted with personally, but Crims had written about the man in glasses enough that she recognized him. She smiled hesitantly in turn, her stomach churning at his words.

"Ah, yes thank you. I apologize, I am just a little--" she shook her head, words falling short because Elu didn't know how she was feeling. "Oh, of course. I can't-- I can't imagine," she whispered because she couldn't. If the knight's death had left a hole in her being, it must have ripped a hole in Thrymr's universe. "I'm here to-- I don't know, I want to try and help, if I can."

Elu knew that while Crims had never hid his relationship with the white haired senshi, it hadn't exactly been public either. A choice made for both of their safety. The redhead wondered how much time had passed before Thrymr had learned of his passing.

The idea made her sick.

She forced herself to smile when Heli gathered Thyrmr's attention, it was a sad, strained smile that was hopefully lined with understanding. They'd both loved the knight, they were both hurting. Despite herself, Elu hoped they could grieve together. "I hope that I am not interrupting I-- just wished to see you."

The conversation had been about something nonsensical, mundane. Ahe could not even really recall what it was that was being discussed, or the answers that had been given in return. Words came out automatically, one after the other, and the expression on their pale face was muted, nothing like the radiant, bright expressions that had been worn before.

The touch of a hand on Ahe's arm made them jerk involuntarily, and for an infinitesimal second, the briefest flicker of something like hope spread across them as they turned around, eyes widening, breath leaving them in a soft, sharp gust.

But it was only Heli.

Ahe felt the light shutter out of them, felt the world collapse back in on itself. The people they had been talking to respectfully bowed to the aide and stepped away, leaving Ahe alone with the two that now stood with them.

"What is it?" asked Ahe, in a small, quiet voice that did not sound like their own, slightly hoarse.

But Heli had stepped aside, and Elu was there, standing with a pained look on her lovely face. Ahe's stomach gave a horrible, twisting cringe, their eyes widening, and all of a sudden it felt hard to breathe. All of a sudden, it felt like they could not stand to be there another second. Their mouth opened and closed wordlessly, panic rising in their throat.

A hand touched their arm yet again, as well as Elu's.

"There is a bench, over there," said Heli gently, guiding them towards it. "Where you can sit."

Seeing Ahe hurt more than Elu had thought it would. It hadn't even occurred to her that them seeing her would cause more harm than good and suddenly, with panic flooding her belly and spreading through her veins, she was worried that the trip had been a horrible, horrible idea.

"I'm sorry - " she halted, letting Heli take control and lead them both away. Upon arriving to the bench she sunk down almost immediately, hands wringing in her laps. "Perhaps this was not a good idea," she muttered quietly, staring at her hands because she was unable to bring herself to look at the lovely, heart broken face beside her.

"I - I think that I have made things worse, I - I apologize." The redhead stood back up, despite the way her legs shook beneath her. "I didn't mean - I don't -" she stopped unsure of what she was trying to say.

Despite herself, she looked to Ahe and swallowed. "I wished to offer my condolences. I found out -- I found out recently. I didn't know if you needed a friend or someone to lean on." Without Crims, Elu wouldn't have been able to stand across from Ahe in any capacity.

Her heart hurt for the lovely senshi and the person they had lost.

Heli guided them over and then, respectfully, gave them both a little bow before stepping away. He remained close, but not within hearing range, giving them both the privacy needed, his long pale hair visible just beyond a range of trees.

Ahe, however, remained still and silent on the bench, hunched over and staring at the ground. For a moment, it seemed too overwhelming; Elu's presence, the constant, consistent reminder of her friendship with Tarren - the very distinct, agonizing remembrance that he was gone, and the gaping, terrible hole left behind where he should have been.

It felt too painful to breathe, to think, to exist.

Ahe's hand reached out without thinking. Slender fingers held Elu's wrist, and though Ahe wasn't looking at her, there was no denying what the gesture meant - stay. Their shoulders were stiff with grief, trembling, and Ahe made a half choked sound.

"Don't - " they started, and swallowed. "Not yet. Please. Don't go. I need - "

I need someone else other than me to remember that Tarren of Crims existed at all.
