Sanidine was battered and bruised and tired and hungry. Dreams of his bed seemed so distant, and he was more frustrated than ever. He hadn't broken, or at least, he hadn't thought he did. But he kept replaying everything in his head. Thinking of things he could have done differently. Lies he could have told, or maybe truths. He didn't know why he was here, and he couldn't even remember who had gotten him. He told himself he wanted revenge—planned gruesome getbacks at everyone who had done him any harm.

He wondered how long it would take to get out.

And then, a faint voice in the back of his head made him wonder if they ever planned to let him go.

He had dismissed the thought, once. Twice. A dozen times.

It was more nagging than he cared to admit, and even the sound of others in the complex, or his stomach rumbling, or the voices of those interrogating him couldn't drown it out.

He was still tied to a chair. He was exhausted.

Things were starting to blur together. His head was back, in as comfortable a position as he could imagine and he tried to sleep, but it wasn't refreshing. He wasn't even sure if he'd been sleeping, or if he was just too out of it that reality felt warped.

And then he heard footsteps and sighed.

Lysithea wasn’t sure why she decided to come out here…she had heard a whisper of something that some senshi had done, but when she saw it…she was kind of disgusted and quite horrified. The jail itself was…quite creepy and she crossed her arms over her chest as she walked, glancing into the cells, and wondering if she should just get out of here. She had no right being here…there was nothing that…

The super senshi paused outside of one cell and stared, her disgust rising sharply as she saw who was inside of it.

“S-sanidine!” Her voice was a harsh whisper and she quickly glanced around and spotted a key hanging on the wall. Hurriedly she took it, and after dropping it twice, she managed to unlock the cell door and went inside, rushing over to the captain. She fell to her knees beside him and fumbled with the rope, trying to untie it, but her hands were trembling far too much to be making much progress.

“What are you doing here? How did they get you? Are you okay? I’m going to get you out, do you need me to heal you…What the hell did they do to you…”
Her hand slipped on the rope once again and she had to stop trying for a moment, looking as though she was about to cry. Why would anyone do something like this? This was taking all of this way too far…

Sanidine picked his head up when he heard Lysithea call his name; his entire demeanor changed. "Hey," he greeted, seeming surprised. He wasn't sure if he was finally dreaming or if this was real, but he felt her moving next to him.

It didn't feel like he was imagining that.

He blinked, squinting his eyes a little bit.

He had definitely seen better days, and it showed; he didn't seem bad enough off that he needed to go to a hospital, but he wasn't going to be winning any beauty pageants in the next few days. He was stiff and tired and he'd been roughed up a fair bit, but he was alive.

And possibly only slightly crazy if he was just imagining this.

"I don't remember what happened. I woke up here…I don’t even know how long ago. A few days? …Feels like a long time. If you wanna toss a heal my way, I'm all for it."

It sounded like a good idea—until. He blinked and seemed a bit more alert. "What are you doing here? Aren't you going to get in trouble if they catch you like this? It's not gonna do either of us a damn bit of good if they throw you in here, too."

“Oh…oh of course!” Lysithea stood up and murmured “Lysithea healing horn!” She took the energy horn and ran it across Sanidine’s head and face, wanting to get rid of the ugly bruises…they just didn’t suit him. Not at all…he was far too handsome.

In doing something, her shock had started to wear off, and when her attack faded from existence, she knelt down again and began trying to untie the ropes once again. “Don’t worry about me…I just…I heard a rumor that something had happened…but I didn’t want to believe that it was true. I really didn’t expect to find you here…If I would have known I would have come to save you sooner…”

The damn rope wasn’t yielding to her attempts at untying it, so she began tugging on it, using all the strength that she could muster, finally hearing a loud snap as the rope broke. “******** finally…”

She stood up, tossing the broken rope aside and held out a hand for the captain. “Come on. We have to get you out of here. You have to get home where you’re safe…”

The snap was music to his ears. Sanidine curled and uncurled his fingers and slowly moved from the position he'd been trapped in. All his joints ached and moving burned, but anything was better than being trapped in that stupid chair. The healing horn wasn't something he was going to complain about, either. "I'm all for that, trust me," he said; getting up hurt more than he'd expected, and he had rushed and was lightheaded.

He reached for her hand, missed, and wound up leaning against her heavily. "Sorry. Thought I had more energy than this. Don't let me slow you down, I'm ready to blow this joint. —You got any idea what was going on here? Who's running this?"

He didn't sound demanding, just tired.

Even if he was already trying to plan vengeance.

He was getting out now. That's all that mattered.

The rest could wait.

Lysithea felt so useless right now. She held on to Sanidine as he fell against her and raised her hand to stroke his hair as gently as possible. “I don’t know who’s behind this, honestly I just heard a rumor about it and I didn’t want to think it was real…but…” She shrugged and her grip on him tightened just slightly. “…I hate the fact that it was real…I’m so, so sorry for whatever they did to you, Sanidine…you didn’t deserve this. You might be a jerk of the highest caliber…but you didn’t deserve this…”

She had to get him out of here…and as quickly as possible. The more she thought about whoever had cooked this madness up, the more she felt sick to her stomach. This was not something that should have happened…this was not something she wanted her side of the fight to be remembered for.

“…Nobody deserves this. This is s**t.”

Sanidine shook his head. "You don't have to apologize for this. I know it wasn't you."

Probably. Unless this was all just some trap and she was just the final piece. It made sense, of course. She and him already had a connection. If she was a part of this and they knew that, it was the perfect ploy: have her pose as his rescuer and then suddenly he opens up and tells he everything.

Ohhhh, no.

No, no, no.

They weren't going to trick him like that.

He almost pulled away from her, but then he gradually relaxed a bit.

Okay, he could play her game. See how far she was going to take it.

Maybe they'd make a mistake and get so close to the exit he could just make a run for it. That would show them.

Sanidine had almost broken out in a cold sweat; his heart was pounding in his chest. "…Let's just get out of here. We can talk afterwards. We should move fast. You came in, so I figure you know the way out."

“I agree…” This place was seriously starting to make her feel uneasy…and she couldn’t imagine having been trapped in here being hurt for days…The thought almost made her vomit. As quick as she could, she moved so one of her arms was around Sanidine’s waist, helping to support the captain as she retraced her footsteps, getting the both of them out of them and into the fresh, cold winter air. Even when they were outside, she didn’t dare stop, or even slow in her getting away, wanting to get him as far from the twisted prison as she could, not stopping until they were about two blocks away from the old jailhouse.

Finally she sighed, pulling the captain over to a bench and flopping down onto it, shivering just slightly. Lysithea put her elbows on her knees and buried her face in her hands, beginning to tremble all over again. “…How could anyone do something like that…how could they just…you didn’t do anything wrong…even if you had, nobody could do anything that would warrant…for lack of a better word…well, torture…”

She looked up at him, and there were tears shining in her eyes, she looked so absolutely heartbroken. Betrayed by her own faction. “I’m so, so sorry for those monsters, Sanidine…So, so sorry…”

Sanidine was quiet as they walked; he was holding his breath and keeping absolutely silent. He waited for them to jump out. He expected them.

But every step they took, the harder it was to think that this was a trap.

He ignored her apologies, and her tears, for a long time.

And then he had a hard time telling himself that they were fake.

She was acting far too well for this to have been all a ruse.

…But they were outside, and he was walking and there wasn't that strange electric hum going on in his eyes. He felt like he could summon his weapon and attack, or teleport away—not that he even had the energy to do so, but it felt like he could.

…Maybe she was serious.

"…You really didn't know about any of this? Damn, you guys are unorganized. Do me a favor and…figure out who is responsible. I want to have words with them. One on one," he growled. But anger was the only thing holding him together right now.

He knew there were other agents back there.

He just couldn't bring himself to care.

Lysithea couldn’t do anything but nod, wiping hastily at her eyes. “I’ll do whatever I can to find out who did this. Anything.” Her hand slipped into his and she gave it a small squeeze. “I’m glad you’re out of there…If I would have known…I would have come sooner.” She would have. She would have gone in there, guns blazing and rescued him and none of this would have happened…either that or she would have protected him from the beginning and he would have never been taken in the first place…

If only she had been more active with everything.

She was trying so hard to become more integrated within the side of order…but…but it was so hard to when she had such feelings. Feelings for people on the other side of everything.

“…I love you, I hope you know that.”

Sanidine had only half been listening to what she was saying when those words filtered in. Those words that he wasn't even sure what they meant—or if she knew what they meant.

His mind was sluggish and running slowly, but suddenly he was jolted into thinking at lightning speed.

"…I think you've had a really rough night and are trying to come to terms with something you didn't think people like you could do. I don't…do you have any idea what you just said?" he asked; his brows were knit and he had stopped walking.

He hadn't meant to, but his body just locked up and he stared at her. He hadn't expected a confession—not from her. Not when they fought like they had. Hell, they'd flirted. Well, they'd even kissed, but love? Sanidine couldn’t imagine being in a relationship with someone on the opposite side. If someone found out what they were doing…

Apparently either the Negaverse or the Senshi were willing to attack one another.

"…You shouldn't say something like that. If they heard you, back there—you know what they'd do to you? They'd lock you up in a cell, just like me, and who knows what they'd do to try and get you to talk. That's dangerous."

And he tried to sound angry, but it just came out worried.

…But he didn't…care about her. She was just a senshi.

She was fun. Hell, she was a lot of fun, but…

Powering up was just a game. None of this was real

Right?

She shrugged, tugging at his hand again, trying to just get him to sit down. “******** them. I don’t care. Like I said, you’re an a*****e, but…I guess I have a thing for assholes, so…I guess I have a thing for you, so…deal with it.” Lysithea pushed some hair out of her face and watched him, scowling just a little. “It’s not like you’re the first member of your side that I’ve developed feelings for…you’re just…well, right now you’re the most human.”

Her mouth felt dry and she finally looked away. “I wouldn’t say something I didn’t mean so. Just deal with it.” It was a phrase she had already used…but she couldn’t think of much else to say so…she just kept on using it. “I can’t help how I feel, and I’m sorry if you don’t feel the same, I mean I’m not going to force myself on you or anything. I just wanted you to know. I thought it would cheer you up.”

Finally the senshi let go of the captain’s hand and slumped back against the bench, closing her eyes. “I just don’t know how they could do that.” It felt like a knife in her side and she just wasn’t sure how to cope with the information still. That and given her feelings towards people in the Negaverse…well.

“Maybe I should just join you.”

Sanidine just scoffed. "Join? You want to join? I don't know, because just being with the Negaverse kinda just got me ********. I get if you're upset, or emotional, but seriously—who cares what side you're on. Do whatever the hell you want to do. I don't care what the Negaverse does. I don't care what the Senshi do. You know? I care about what I do, and right now…"

He shuddered. His head was spinning and he had to sit down on the bench and rub at his head.

"…Yeah, I mean, it's always flattering to hear that a beautiful lady has the hots for you. But right now…Lysithea."

He sounded so tired.

"…I can't think about anything right now except how to explain to everyone why I was gone. I'm sorry if that's selfish. I don't even feel like I'm out of that place. I feel like I'm going to wake up any second. My heart feels like it's going to burst. I don't even know if you're real or if I'm just imagining you. But if I'm out—if I'm somehow out…"

He was lightheaded, and tired, and still—not that he'd admit it—worried they were going to find him and put him right back in there until who knew when.

"…I just want to power down. I've been stuck like this for…for however long I've been gone. I want to go home and be me."

He was quiet and rubbed at his eyes. "…I want to talk with you. But I can't think straight. There are things I want to say, but I forget them as soon as I think them. I don't…I don't think I'm myself right now. You…you should go home. You should go spend the night with someone you care about, someone you trust. And we…we should meet up again. And talk. When I can think clearly. Can we do that?"
PostPosted: Thu Jan 28, 2016 6:34 pm

“Yeah, I get it. I’ll see you soon, then…Um…next week…meet me in the park next week. It’ll be great.” Gently Lysithea reached over and stroked Sanidine’s face and pecked him on the lips. “Take care, and get home safe. I’ll see you next week…At eight. How about eight. And you, go be with someone you care about too. You need to be taken care of.”

She got up and sighed heavily. “See you later, I do hope you feel better soon…this isn’t some trick or dream…and I think a good meal and a good night’s sleep will prove that to you.” With one last wave, the super senshi darted off into the night, fully intending to find out who did this…and why.

And maybe get a drink. A drink sounded pretty good right now.

Sanidine stayed still for a long moment, just watching after her. He kept blinking, waiting to wake up—and then it hit him.

Maybe he really, seriously was free.

…And if she was gone, that meant she couldn’t follow him home.

Home.

He didn't know exactly where he was, but he recognized some of the buildings in the distance. It took a few seconds, but he knew where he was. He took one step towards home. And another.

The adrenaline hit him, hard, and he bolted into a run.

Like hell they were going to catch him again anytime soon.
