One day Richterite would do the intelligent thing. He would take a late night stroll through a quiet area as Rikard Colby as opposed to making use of his powered persona for the added thrill and enhancement. That day was not today. That night was not tonight. It was far too nice to not worry about the crisp, cold air as Chaos kept him warm.
Besides, as nice as it was to not worry about being randomly attacked, there was also less of a chance that someone would approach him and he would get a conversation out of just being himself. "Sad day, when your alter ego is more interesting than you are," he murmured, puffing out a warm breath of air to form a cloud in front of him.
He pulled on the pair of gloves that he had set out before powering up, keeping his hands just a bit warmer as he wandered out into the night. He started on the rooftops, boots sliding across the snow until he finally descended down. He had somehow found himself near the area that had been closed off and turned into an ice skating rink for the season. Everyone had gone home long ago, but that didn't mean he couldn't take a seat on a bench after dusting off some of the white powder to enjoy the view.
And so he did, taking a seat to enjoy one of the few parts of town where you could still see the stars in the sky despite all of the city lights.

Denebola had started patrolling regularly again because she had someone to call when she needed backup. It felt safer than it used to when she was on her own completely. Knowing the Corvus would come to her air when needed was refreshing, which was exactly why the red-haired dragonfly senshi had decided that it was worth slipping into the skin of her alter ego on this particular cold January night.
Of course, it hadn't taken her long to feel the dark pulse of a chaotic energy and, despite her reservations, she found herself heading towards it.
Inwardly, she cursed at her self and the curiosity that was rampant. Outwardly, she held herself tall and confidently. She needed to at least check on the aura, make sure they weren't up to any suspicious behavior.
At least, that's what she told herself.
But she wasn't expecting to find a man sitting on a bench enjoying the view. "Enjoying the view?"

He glanced up, tilting his head just enough to catch a better glimpse of the senshi before flashing her a grin. "I was, although this one is nice too. It's certainly brighter and a bit more like spring than dismal grey and dark as night." He made a vague gesture at her attire to go along with his terrible line before tilting his head back to the sky. "It's hard to see the stars for what they are when there's so much going on in the city. Too many people, too many lights. Not enough this." He held his hand up to motion at the thousands of twinkling specks in the sky. "Wouldn't you agree?"

Denebola was thoroughly unimpressed by his shitty pickup line and it showed on the way her hands found her hips and her brow quirked upward. "Cute," she replied dryly, lips pressed into a thin line as she slowly walked forward.
"It's kind of the point of a city, if you want to enjoy nature it's better to get out of the city lines."
Denebola knew plenty of places on the outskirts of the city that had some of the prettiest view points. "If you want a better view of the stars, you might just want to go to space," she said, sarcasm heavy in her tone. She knew that those infect with chaos couldn't do space travel, but it was fun to taunt.
"So, does that line like, every work for you because it's really pathetic."

His laughter was warmer than he would have given himself credit for on most days, lacking a lot of the bitterness that he generally carried along with him. It was likely due to just how cross she seemed; blunt and sarcastic, it was almost like having a friendly chat with Fayalite again. The nostalgia made him smile. It also left an aching feel in his chest again. "Haven't been there before myself, but I've heard a number of other officers make comments about the Surrounding. Heard that whole thing was a cluster. Pretty glad I missed it, honestly." He snorted softly, shaking his head slowly before flashing her a light smirk. "Sometimes the lines work. Others? Not so much. Depends on the night."

"Couldn't tell you about the surrounding," Denebola shrugged, she'd been in her I hate this double life s**t phase when the civilians had gone missing and had wanted nothing to do with it. And it had only been more recently that she'd begun to venture to her own homeworld.
Space was fascinating, the woman found.
"Though, most of space sucks. It's all destruction and ruins." Heartbreak and ghosts of the past. A life she'd rather not remember but couldn't help but want to remember. "I'm betting the surrounding didn't have all the dead that some places do." Was she a little bitter about the things she found on Denebola? Probably.
"You should work on your lines, they're lame and overused. Not even remotely smooth. I mean come on, you can barely see me."

"So why would I want to go to a place, any place, that was all destruction and ruins when I could sit back here and admire the view without leaving my own back yard?" His brow quirked and after a moment he shifted so that he was taking up less of the bench, leaving a bit of space for her to take a seat beside him if she chose to do so. "It worked enough to get you talking, didn't it? Not everyone uses lines to actually pick someone up. Every now and then it's just a way to get conversation starting. It throws people off; isn't what they're expecting." He tried not to be what most people expected. It made things more interesting in the long run, even if interesting meant potentially dangerous. He smirked, glancing back over at her again. "The moon's out tonight. Not full, but out enough that there's some light, and with everything else reflecting off of the snow? I can see enough of the colors that you're wearing to know that they're a lot brighter and warmer than mine. Now as for how warm your outfit might be... That's another story."

"Because it's a change of perspective," the woman countered, a perfectly styled red brow arching up as she looked at his skeptically. "The same view grows old after a period of time." Denebola wouldn't have wanted to stargaze every day from the same spot on earth and there were so many stars, planets, comets that couldn't be seen from earth.
She snorted at his response. "What, do you have some oppressing need to be different or unpredictable?" Oh, what a novel concept she thought.
"What are you going to suggest that if I'm cold, you'll be happy to "warm me up"?" She asked, hands leaving her hips to cross over her chest.

The Captain laughed, feeling it all the way in his sides until he coughed to bring it to a stop. "No," he chuckled again, unable to stop himself, "I'm not going to suggest something like that. Firecracker like you? I'd probably just be asking for trouble anyways." Her sharp responses and overall demeanor also reminded him far too much of a raven haired friend that he had fallen out of touch with. "I don't have any sort of need to be anything other than myself this evening. Richterite, by the way. Captain rank, if it matters while neither of us are throwing threats. At least I hope nothing that I've said so far has come off as a threat. You seem capable enough of defending yourself if it has. Sharp tongue, at least."

"You seem like the type of boy who enjoys a bit of trouble," Denebola replied with her sharp tongue. Normally, she was softer edges but she'd been expending herself on supporting broken men, it was nice to have verbal banter for once. It felt normal, like the girl she'd been when she'd first found out about her other identity.
"Richterite," she repeated slowly, purposely leaving off the captain mantle. "You've got that right, I bet I could take you. If I wanted." Not that she wanted to fight him, she preferred not fighting than fighting especially since, well, Richterite wasn't doing anything wrong. He was sitting on a bench stargazing.
"Denebola," she said quietly, offering her name as if it was a second thought. "You have to guess the sphere though. I'm not just going to give you everything." Despite herself, and her prickly attitude, she was smiling.

"I can't ever tell just by looking. Not usually, at least." He shook his head slowly as he patted the bench beside him, just in case she wanted to help herself to a seat. "Mind you, I don't usually have to either. Someone's always shouting something about senshi of this or that before throwing an attack my way." The way he made light of the situation made it seem as though he didn't really take it all seriously, although his tone wasn't entirely lighthearted. He knew that there was a very fine line that he toed between 'cordial' and 'friendly enough to get him in trouble'. "Good thing neither of us wants to fight the other tonight, then, right? I'll figure out what your sphere is another time... Unless you like guessing games, in which case I could probably try." He flashed her another grin.

Denebola looked unimpressed, as she had for perhaps the entirety of their conversation. "You're not going to even try? That's disappointing." She shook her head, shifted her weight from one leg to another. She didn't expect him to get it right even if her had guessed. Her uniform was misleading, painted her as a flower senshi instead of dragonflies despite her flowers being water lilies.
"You're assuming I'm going to want to fight you in any capacity," she shot back. Though, her attacks would give away her sphere even if they didn't exactly have anything to do with it. She would fight him if she had to, but whether she wanted to or not was a different story.
"Why don't you take a shot? If you guess it maybe I'll give you a prize."

"Fine, fine. For you I'll give it a guess." A soft smirk touched his lips as he shifted to get a better look at her, taking in the aspects of her outfit that he could make out in the moonlight. "Spring would be too easy. Not quite the right colors for Summer. I'd guess Swamps, but I don't think there's enough green. Nice blue bow, though. Really do like that color." He stroked his chin thoughtfully for a moment. "Am I anywhere close?"

"I'm shocked you didn't go for a flower or something," Denebola admitted, unfurling her arms and placing her hands on her hips instead, lips quirked in a playful smirk. "I'm no zodiac." She'd seen the senshi of spring and she was a lovely creature.
"You're not anywhere close," she admitted, tentatively stepping towards him. She'd kept distance in case she needed to run or if she needed to gave a second to prepare for a fight but if they weren't fight...
"Though the details on the bow might have a clue." The wing pattering on it was really the only thing that gave her sphere away. "I'm not a flower senshi, for the record but my sphere sure likes them."

"I try not to go for the obvious right from the start." Laughter lingered in the corners of his eyes, smirk still on his lips. As she directed his attention to her bow he let his eyes wander down to see if he could make out the detailing. "Bees wouldn't make much sense, not with your colors at least. If a Senshi of Bees wasn't black and yellow I would be highly disappointed," he pondered aloud, tapping one finger against his lips before dropping his hand back down to his knee. "Butterfly? Wait --" He leaned back, taking a good look at her once more. Water lilies. She mentioned that her sphere liked flowers and the only flower he could see clearly on her were water lilies. What insect spent time around places with water lilies? "Dragonfly?"
