After escaping the incredibly uncomfortable company with which he had walked back, Micah rapped on Horace's door. He didn't entirely know why he was here, as he'd just humiliated himself in front of Rep, and coming here was going to mean accepting a big helping of told-you-so without even being able to argue about it. He was damp from snow, he hurt all over, his hair was messed up in a way completely different from the deliberate spiky messed-up it usually was, and he was wild-eyed and still a little shaky. Nevertheless, he was here rather than back in his own room. He waited.

Horace opened the door, a muscle in his jaw tightening as he saw who it was. Just in case Rep's tweet and Micah's text wasn't enough, here was the evidence before his eyes. He could have yelled right away, voice echoing down the hallway, but instead he silently opened the door and gestured Micah inside. "Sit," he said, the word clipped, well aware that Micah must ache all over.

Micah obediently went inside and sat on the edge of the bed, towards the foot, to minimize any snow-related dampness that might occur. "You were right," he said, sadly, and, "Nova's right, I'm dumb." He resembled a wet cat, somehow, pathetic, damp, and very, very sorry.

Well, Horace thought, Micah wasn't dead and it didn't look like anything was broken. He looked hurt, of course, and wet and a little shaky. He busied himself for a moment, hunting down the least dirty of his towels. Micah had been dumb, stupid, not listened, and he could have very well ended up dead. He hadn't known going into the fight with Rep the possibilities. Horace was mad at both Micah and at Rep for picking on trainees again. He clenched his teeth and turned, throwing the towel at Micah's head. "Yeah, you were a ******** IDIOT." He crossed and uncrossed his arms, settling for balling his fists up. "YOU COULD HAVE DIED. Do you know why the wards are there? Because he almost killed someone. They saved the dude by shoving him in a ******** pod but no you had to go fight even when people tried to WARN YOU." He stared at Micah, eyes narrowed.

Micah got a towel to the face, and meekly started rubbing the melted snow out of his hair. "Yeah," he answered, subdued. "It was real dumb." He couldn't look at Horace for long. Normally he would have defended himself and his stupid decisions fiercely, but he'd gotten both his wind and his pride kicked out, and it would take some time to regain them. He didn't really mind being yelled at. He'd been yelled at plenty of times, and being shouted at over being an idiot mostly just meant that the person yelling liked you enough to care whether you were being stupid.

Despite his yelling, Horace was watching Micah intently, trying to gauge how hurt he was. "So are you gonna ******** do it again, or are you not gonna be baited into fights with guys who would cream you into the ground and then piss on you?!" It was maybe a little hypocritical of Horace to be scolding Micah about this - he often got into Twitter fights. There had been only one time it had escalated into the physical, unsurprisingly with Rep and his unfounded jealousy over Harrison. At the time, he hadn't cared if he'd died. He never really did during fighting, so it really was best that the wards existed. It was a little hard to keep yelling when Micah seemed fully content on just accepting it and acknowledging he did wrong, but Horace was still mad. And he'd been anxious. He stormed over to Micah and sat down forcefully. "You hurt?"

"If I know they're that much stronger, then yeah," Micah muttered into the towel. "I don't like dying, it kind of sucks." Not that he knew what dying felt like, but it was the principle of the thing. He jumped slightly as Horace sat down next to him, jolting the bed. "Not bad," he answered, "probably some bruises, that angel weapon thing is ******** huge." He rubbed at his chest without thinking about it. He would probably have a good bruise down his side, another one where Rep's boot had pressed down heavily on his chest.

"Micah, listen, dude, everyone is stronger than you right now. Everyone!" Horace sighed and glanced at Micah, frowning as he rubbed his chest. Irritably, he yanked at the edge of the towel. "Show me." If wasn't that he thought Micah was downplaying things... well, maybe it was, a bit, but some kind of visual confirmation would make him feel better. He'd been so anxious while they were picking at each other on twitter.

"I'm not used to that," Micah complained, but he slumped and sighed, not having the energy to be really irritable about the rebuke. "Fine, yeah. Okay," he muttered. He hesitated at the demand, but after a moment he pulled up the side of his shirt to demonstrate that he had a large, uneven, purpling bruise across his side and abdomen.

"What the ********," he muttered, looking over at the purpling galaxy of bruises on Micah's pale skin - what he could see of them. Reach over with both hands, he grabbed for the hem of Micah's shirt and yanked.

Micah yipped as he almost toppled over, dropping the towel and catching himself on one hand. "Don't - " Among the array of bruising that had come from the the beating he'd taken during the short spar, a suspiciously footprint-shaped bruise was visible on his chest, angled and placed in a way that strongly suggested that it hadn't been inflicted while Micah was on his feet. It was too high and too complete to be the result of a kick, and the area around it was mottled as well.

"WHAT THE ********," he said, rather loudly. "-IS THAT." Horace had expected more bruises, of course, some cuts, maybe evidence of cracked ribs. He had not expected Micah to have the shape of a boot on his chest. He reached out and gingerly poked at the edge of it.
"Is that a ******** shoe, Micah? I swear to ********-" He trailed off, brows drawing together.

"It's a boot," Micah said shortly, and yanked his shirt back down, hunching up protectively and not looking at Horace. "Nothing's broken, I don't think. I'm fine." He didn't want to explain. It was humiliating enough to have been beaten and stepped on in the first place.

"He knocked me down, okay?" Micah grumbled, reddening. "Nothing's broken, it'll heal, I'm never picking another fight with that a*****e, it's fine." His hand went back up to rub his chest; when he noticed, he yanked it away, scowling at the far wall.
