Akacia had not been prepared for the overwhelmingly negative response she'd had to her Matron's 'great reveal.' A new tree, a new place of worship, and disgusting new brats to spawn from it. She was mortified, aghast, repulsed by the matron, by her sisters' acceptance of the situation, by the younglings, by Yael, by Elzira- To be frank and to put it simply; Akacia was repulsed by everything.

The other Extremists may be prepared to leave Aisha behind because some new tree managed to produce lotuses on an otherwise horribly vile and toxic island, but Aka was not. And she had not been shy about saying so. She'd expected resistance of her claims, of course, but she'd suspected that in time, the other Alkidike would come to understand and accept her points. But as the younglings grew and more of them came into being, it became apparent that her sisters would not be willing to see things her way.

Disappointing, to say the least.

In fact, her family seemed to only grow increasingly impatient with her. Once, Akacia might have believe she held the gift of gab; young, charismatic, and eager as she was. She should've been able to turn them. But no. They'd refused her, and she'd likewise refused them. Now she was only angry.

And watching those degenerate, poison, slime-children muck up her settlement only made it worse. Akaia found herself wandering farther from the main camp each day. She always returned, of course, but her desire to stay on this island was dwindling rapidly. Oftentimes, she found herself nearing a Yaeli settlement before she finally got hold of herself and turned back. Today would be one of those days.

She stuck to the trees, of course. Growing up in a dense forest, herself, Akacia felt as at home in the highest branches as she did on the forest floor. Maybe more so in this particular case. Yaeli soil struck her as undeniably filthy. So she climbed and she jumped between the trees, finding a quiet satisfaction in each landing she undoubtedly managed to stick. And she would've continued to do so-

-if not for a distinctly not Yaeli Earthling trekking the paths beneath her.

She'd hardly been aware non-banished others had seen fit to journey to the island. It was intriguing, if nothing else. With a quiet snort, she descended closer to the ground, landing silently on a branch above the young woman's head. "My dear," she purred softly, bouncing her weight and giving the branch a shake so that leaves rained down upon the woman's dark hair. "You are such a long way from home. This is where the beasties lurk."

Buru simply loathed traveling. There was nothing worse than arduous travel, it was sweaty, dirty, horrible muck that she abhorred with each rise and fall of her chest. In truth Buru didn’t think that she could hate anything more than these stupid business trips that her mothers’ arranged for her on the regular. In actuality the youth would soon discover there was something that made the collective hatred of every trip she had ever taken pale in comparison; her voyage to Yael. Never in her life had she ever experienced something so ghastly as the ‘two’ day excursion that turned into a weeklong journey.

How in the name of Aisha could two days turn into a full length week? It was disgusting! Buru felt she stunk of sea breeze and low-tide though the moment that they made landfall the long-eared youth sought out a hot bath and a gallon of perfumed oils to ease her rattled nerves. The soak took longer than what Buru had expected, not that she minded the solitude or the continuous warmth of the suds moisturizing her powdery blue skin but she did have business to attend to with the people of Yael. Business it seemed could wait though. Firstly the girl would need to pamper herself, relax just a bit then in a few days then she would be able to properly present herself and the trade route that her mothers insisted upon with the toxic yokels of the isle.

The morning was kind to the dark-haired prentice, her bath left her skin refreshed and the heavenly scent of her oils lingered on the loose tresses of her dampened hair. The gentle breeze that ushered in the thick haze that obscured the shores naturally dried every inch of the iceling with subtle warmth that prickled the fine downy on her arms. In Zena she had never had the privilege to air dry without risk of losing a digit or toe, it was something Buru could see herself getting used to though the muck island wasn’t exactly what she would refer to as her ideal location to begin such luxuries.

Morning at some point bled into later afternoon before the prissy youth decided to get a start on her day. Her makeup was in place, her fashionable furred garb clung to her like a second skin and she was ready to survey the small village for any useful information that could prove useful in negotiations later on when she deemed appropriate. Trekking through the town yielded little results, their wood was shoddy but the craftsmanship was decent, they had plenty of food yet lacked many of the spices available on Tendaji. There was plenty they didn’t have but what could they provide in return that would make a trade route worthwhile. The longer she investigated the blasé town the more Buru found herself growing distraught. What she needed to do was remove herself from the source of stress and duck out where she wouldn’t have to gaze upon anymore of the inbred, droopy-eared, pussies that made up the populace. Heaving a huge sigh as she made her way to the outskirts of the village Buru focused her attention on the flora of the surrounding area. Deeper into the forest she found herself traveling until a cascade of leaves fluttered around her mussing her perfectly managed hair.

The amused, husky voice that addressed her however caused the young-woman to freeze just for an instant before her mismatched-colored eyes raised skyward and drank in the sight that awaited; an Alkidike. Buru couldn’t help but toss back her head while her slender fingertips pulled at the foliage stuck in her pony-tail. “The only beastie that I see is that dried, ratty nest you call hair. Did your dreds get wet on the swim over here, oh that is a pity.” Scoffing loudly the petite-framed mage did the best she could to look intimidating while she smirked wickedly towards the bug-eyed sapling of a woman. “You’re an extremist then? Or are you also a long way from home too, my dear?”

With a mouth like that, Akacia had to wonder how the woman- the Ice woman- had survived so long. Yes, most Tendajians tended to be more passive than Aka and her ilk, but surely this woman had crossed paths with someone who'd seen fit to blacken one of those golden eyes or bloody her smirking painted lips or maybe just rip at those silky navy tresses. If the tone of the prentice's voice or the set of her mouth was any indication, though, they clearly hadn't.

What. A. Pity.

Akacia hummed, languidly lowering herself to splay more comfortably across her branch so she could prop his chin in her palm and peer down at the little trespasser through haughty, narrowed eyes. "Ah, tsstsstss," she admonished with a slow shake of her head. "The Earthlings don't train their painted whores in the art of silence." She plucked a berry from the nearby drooping foliage and tossed it at the woman's face. "No matter. I suppose it does invite those willing to be a little more hands on with the whole process."

Were Earthlings always that small or was it just the vantage point? Because the little iceling, for all her bold and crass demeanor, did look exceptionally insignificant. Akacia twisted a thin tendril of dred about her finger as she stared down passively. And those clothes. She certainly looked like she thought she was someone special, though all the jeweled finery looked more like golden shackles to Aka. Could she really be comfortable in this heat with that fur? Ice Earthlings should be accustomed to a much frostier climate. Why would she come here in all of that mess?

The corner of Akacia's lip twitched up. She should've left that sass in Zena.

"This is not, and will never be, my home," she retorted plainly. "I was sent here for having ideals that the motherland feared, but I will not stay forever. I follow the path Aisha has laid out for me, and in due time, it will lead me back to her. We will claim what is ours." She tipped sidelong against her branch, enough to shook the woman a completely unhindered, bold and toothy grin. "Maybe you'll have learned to hold your tongue by then. I can't see you having much happiness, if not."

Not the best post but I feel it is decent.

“Painted whore,” slender, well-managed brows furrowed into a heap of creases that betrayed the impudent iceling’s cool outer demeanor. How dare a dishonored, nappy-headed, joke of a sister disrespect her so openly. Who did this foulmouthed stinkbug think she was? A single overly-long ear twitched, she was not amused by the barbaric nature of this woman. First name calling then throwing things at her? Buru brought up a perfectly sculpted nail to the spot on her cheek that was pelted by a well aimed berry. Just a moment passed, her brow wrinkled, her features drawn sharp and her hand so rigidly poised in a claw-like fashion near her face that the dainty mage looked as if she would explode any second. Instead Buru allowed her hand to fall away at her side and smoothed her expression into something remnant of a dignified composure.

“Funny.” A glint of pearly eyeteeth flashed briefly when the girl spoke then faded prematurely leaving her somewhat surly and grim looking.

“Why should I stay my tongue, sister? I also follow the path of Aisha as my mother has taught me,” Lackadaisically the woman garbed in furs rolled her slim shoulders and made a show of tracing the outline of her clavicle, boot clad feet shifted Buru’s slight weight then continued with the path that she had been traveling just moments prior. A chuckle escaped pink glossed lips, truth be told the damn bug had a gorgeous smile. It was almost irritating and of course she would never admit that. Ever. Mirroring the cocky grin that was lobbed in her direction Buru added a wink for sheer self-gratification.

“Can’t imagine you’re too happy but I’m walking on clouds, especially enjoying the view. You’ve got legs for days---- Mm, I don’t believe I caught your name. Mine’s Buru. Not quite a pleasure but I’m sure it could be.” Tossing a glance over her shoulder the petite-mage extended her hand making a 'come hither motion'. "Keep me company for a while, you've got nothing better to do but enjoy my company."

The Anesthesia

The little Iceling lass did not look pleased. She looked about like what Akacia expected an Earthling's pets to look like when presented with prey that needed to be caught and killed before it could be eaten (because that was how Earthlings raised their animals, wasn't it? By feeding them pre-prepared food and giving them comfortable bedding and training them not to use their fangs and claws). Well-groomed, doused in perfumes, dainty, and offended at someone larger and stronger. Weak. Snobbish.

Aka leaned over her branch, grinning coyly. "If I'd looked at Layeta, my guardian, in such a way, I should expect to need to defend my position, lest I want to be on the receiving end of her strike." She dipped to press the whole on her torso to the branch, rolled from the limb, and dropped to the ground. Her landing was not especially graceful, but she did manage to land on her feet, in a low crouch.

She stood, taking a step forward and bringing her within grabbing range of the Ice woman's hair. Aka reached around, tugging at the dark blue tresses at the nape of her neck as she hissed, "And I doubt you have any such capability, little skank."

When she released the girl's hair, it was with more force than necessary. "You've no right to call me or any Alkidike 'sister.' Follow whatever path you were taught of, but it does not and never will change the fact that you were not born of my mother. We are not sisters." The words were blatantly offensive, yes, but also intriguing in their own way. Enough so that Aka didn't feel a need to further insult. Did Icelings truly teach their children anything of Aisha? And if they did, how could any of it possibly be accurate?

Akacia hummed softly, straightened her back, tilted her chin up, narrowed her eyes, and glowered down at the smaller female. Such a strange Earthling. So unlike any Aka had ever met before.

"Buru," She repeated the name quietly, tasting it on her tongue. It even sounded brutish. Aka scoffed. "My name is Akacia. And you, wee little wench, are not important enough for me to keep your company." The Alkidike turned then, twisting away from the frosty female and taking several long strides away. "But you may keep mine. To my knowledge, that is what whores do, is it not?"
