Morginn hummed cheerfully as he walked down the street on the way to his favorite crafting store. The weather was nice, if way too cold to be out on a pleasure stroll; he wondered if he'd ever be able to leave his dorm without wearing three layers of clothing. Truthfully there wasn't anything he needed that warranted the trip outside. He was well stocked on food for his familiar and himself, and had plenty of materials to work with already. But they were having a sale! How could he pass up the opportunity? He rationed it away by telling himself it wasn't good to stay cooped up indoors all the time. Morginn breathed a sigh of relief as he passed through the doors into the warm interior, feeling his wings relax as he breathed in the scent unique to craft stores. Then he beelined for the sewing section. He didn't immediately dive into the fabrics, though he was sorely tempted. But before he could buy anything, he needed a bit of inspiration. He went over to a special little desk where a giant book of patterns was kept, and starting flipping through it. The idea was if you saw a pattern in the book you liked, you went to the drawer where they were kept and matched the number from the book to the number on the pattern packaging. That way you didn't have to go through drawers and drawers of packets. Morginn didn't often buy patterns, since he could usually figure it out by looking at the picture and then trial and error, but some of the pictures in the book were super cute and helped him think up new outfit designs. Cinnamon Panda Sorry if the intro is muddled >.< Sleepy brain is not English good brain.

It hadn't been long since Hikaru had started school at Asphodel Gardens, but already Kaoru found himself feeling rather lonely without his little fluffy bundle of joy. Luckily the Academy was practically a mere stone's throw away, so he could probably surprise the child with a visit whenever he had a free day. However, he didn't want to go empty-handed. Hikaru really seemed to love all the clothes his parent had designed and sewn for him, so why not bring a few new articles to add to the little hybrid's wardrobe?
Lucky for him, the craft store in town was having a sale - his fabric stash had been getting rather low. Even his Vespercats had been voicing their dislike of the empty drawers; what would they burrow into now? Bedsheets were so last week. Or that's how Kaoru imagined them thinking, judging by their behavior.
The curly-haired Imp was currently shifting through various charming printed fabrics, as he figured Hikaru would like something cute and slightly more colorful to co-ordinate with his more discreet pieces. But oh, there were just so many in stock this season! How was he ever going to choose? Was this the moment where he'd have to ask for the clerk, or another customer for their opinion? He looked around him, and spotted an individual with peculiar wings looking at the pattern books. Oh, yes, he remembered a number of transfer students from Above had joined the student body recently, but as he tended to be rather absorbed in his own work, he hadn't really noticed them around so far. Perhaps this Fey could assist him? He walked over, gently tapping the daydream on the shoulder - careful to avoid touching his wings, as he remembered learning they were pretty delicate. "E-excuse me? Would you mind helping me decide on something..?" he asked softly.

Morginn was deeply absorbed in the book. The current section was dedicated to costumes for freshlings. He loved elaborate, cute designs, and didn't see why any of these couldn't be everyday wear with just a few tweaks. He was also getting some ideas of his own. Morginn was a tiny fellow, even for a Fey, and topped out at only 4' 10". He also had a very slender build and androgynous face; he could easily pass as a junior if he wanted. For that matter he could easily pass as a female, since he had a fondness for dresses and skirts. He was wearing one today as a matter of fact, though he had pants on underneath since he could bear to expose his legs to the cold just yet. He was so deep into thoughts about how he could tweak a particular outfit that he didn't even notice the Imp approach him. The tap on his shoulder startled Morginn, causing him to jump a little. At least the Imp didn't tower over him the way some of the other races did; they could be tall, but he noticed the average was similar to Fey height. "E-excuse me? Would you mind helping me decide on something..?"Morginn's heartbeat had already returned to normal. His wings fluttered a little and his antennae twitched in curiosity. He also couldn't help but admire the style of the Imp's clothing. "I certainly can. Or at least I can try," he added with a smile, recalling some of his own moments of indecision where he couldn't decide and ended up buying both choices he'd been looking at. Cinnamon Panda He's wearing something like [ this], just in brighter colors XD Warm pants underneath, but still a dress on top.

Kaoru wasn't more than a few inches taller, and of a fairly slender build himself, but still somehow the Fey seemed so much smaller and more delicate. Luckily their taste in clothes seemed fairly similar to his own - even if with much more color. Hopefully they could help pick something nice.
"I'm really sorry to interrupt your browsing, but I'm trying to decide on some fabrics", he started in his usual polite and soft tone. "I'm planning on making some new clothes for my child, to bring to him on my next visit to the Academy. There are just so many wonderful prints in stock right now that it's making me a little overwhelmed.."
Reaching into his bag, he pulled out a picture of Hikaru, showing it to the Fey with a somewhat sheepish, yet clearly proud, smile. "This is him. I tend to favor muted tones and pastels with both our clothes, usually, but I thought maybe this time I could add some more color, at least in accents. So it would be really nice if I had someone helping me pick - if it's not too much to ask, seeing how we just met", he continued, suddenly feeling extremely embarrassed for talking so much. He wasn't usually one to chit-chat, but as Hikaru was the most important thing in his life he sometimes got carried away.
"Oh! My name is Kaoru.. do you study at Grendel, too?" he then remembered to actually introduce himself, holding out a clawed paw in greeting.

Morginn listened intently as the Imp posed his request. His antennae instantly perked up once; he loved to help people shop, even if it was just to offer an opinion or two. He peered at the photo the Imp offered for his inspection, and had to hold back a small squeal. The freshling in the photo was adorable! "It's no trouble at all," Morginn said brightly, already running ideas through his head. "I do study at Grendel! Majoring in fashion at the moment. My name's Morginn!" He took the offered paw and shook it, noting that even if Kaoru was about his height, his hands were almost child-like in Kaoru's paws! "I would instantly suggest blues! Your child has such pretty eyes, adding blue accents would really bring that color out. Does he have a favorite color? And have you thought about patterned fabrics, or do you prefer to stick with simpler things," Morginn asked, running through his mental list to narrow down what fabrics he might point out to Kaoru.

Still smiling gently, Kaoru nodded in acknowledgment as Morginn introduced himself. Hearing someone compliment his child naturally made him feel proud, even if Hikaru's eyes were one of the traits he didn't inherit from the Imp.
"He actually does like blue, and pink, a lot.. especially pastels. And one of my ideas was something like a play dress, with pockets. Perhaps a solid color for the main part, with a print pattern on the pockets", he started to explain as he put the photo away. "He very much loves animals, Vespercats in particular. So I think an animal print would be something he would like seeing. Also, he really adores ribbons - he insists I put at least one on every shirt or dress he gets", he laughed, "so I should probably buy matching ribbon as well once I settle on something."
As this was his first time personally meeting a Daydream, he couldn't really help but look over Morginn and his clothes a bit more closely. Granted, he had his fur helping keep him warm in winter, but he'd never considered Euros cold even during this time of the year. Guess it was true Above was much warmer in climate than the entirety of Below.

Morginn nodded in agreement or understanding as Kaoru explained what he was going for. He wished he'd brought his sketch book with him, but he'd left it back in his dorm. It was a great way to trade ideas, being able to get them out of his head and onto paper for others to see. He could always try pointing at pictures in the pattern book though. There'd been a couple of cute pieces in there. He turned to flip through the book to one of the ideas to see if Kaoru might like it or not, chatting as he did. "That sounds like it could be super cute. The ribbon could probably be bright colors for extra pop if you're just using it as trim. There's even some ribbons with designs on them, like paw prints or simpler designs, too add any extra touches if the overall design is simpler." Morginn paused in his search to chuckle. "There's also embroidery. I'm not so good at that myself, but some people could probably stitch little Vespercats a small bit of fabric, like a pocket, that would look very nice. I still have to rely on printed fabrics or sew-on patches." He flipped through a couple more pages, then found what he was looking for. "What about something like this? It could be altered to look more like a cat, with ribbon instead of a bandanna?" It looked cute to Morginn, and seemed very well suited to being a playtime outfit, but he wasn't sure if it was to the tastes of Kaoru or his child. Cinnamon Panda [ This] is what Morginn's showing Kaoru.

His curls bounced somewhat with Kaoru's enthusiastic nodding as the conversation went on. He started to feel it was a true stroke of luck he'd run into Morginn here! The Fey clearly had good taste and vision, and he liked that a lot. Embroidery? He'd actually just recently begun experimenting on that. He was no master, of course, but it was certainly an option to attempt. But perhaps he should start by trying to embroider something simpler - like paw prints.
As Morginn pointed out the play dress design in the book, a small squeal of delight escaped the Imp's lips. Yes! It was perfect! "By the Nine, that is so adorable! Just what I was thinking. Yes, that would work well as a Vespercat too! Perhaps the ribbon could act as the kitty's collar.." he mused. "Oh! Hikaru is especially fond of one of my pet Vespers, a dark tuxedo with blue eyes. She's got a teal collar - perhaps we could find ribbon in the same color, and basically make the dress look like her? He misses her so, but he's a little too young to have responsibility over a pet that's so demanding", he explained, digging out another photo, this time one of Hikaru holding the cat in question. Oh, hopefully Morginn wasn't getting sick of his parental babbling yet..

Morginn was thrilled that he'd managed to hit on a success. It wouldn't be the first time something he thought might look good didn't quite match what another person had in mind. The idea of making the play dress to match a specific vespercat was a nice touch. "I'm sure we can find a ribbon of that shade," he enthused, caught up in the excitement. He looked at the photo intently, affirming his assertion that they could fine a good teal ribbon here. "How do you think you want to do the other details," he asked, mulling over a couple color choices. "If it was just a plain vespercat I would say to go with a lighter teal, maybe with a simple pattern, for the ears and pocket trim. Since you'd be modeling this off a specific vespercat though, maybe you want to go with a white or pale pink?" He gave the photo another look-over, and noticed the little charm hanging from the collar. "You probably find a little charm like the one your vespercat is wearing and sew it to the collar, a little under the ribbon so you don't see the stitches and it looked like it's hanging from the collar." Morginn sighed a little regretfully. "It a shame wings aren't usually durable, it would be so cute to add those to the dress as well."
