Caelum would be powered-up for so long that he'd forget that his normal life mattered too. Case in point, that very day, Mrs. Danjuma, his homeroom teacher, assigned a report to be done. Everything would've been hunky-dory if he was to just work on it by himself, but it was a partnered. He didn't even get a chance to pick his own partner either; it was an assigned partner. The boy groaned that entire school day until he agreed to meet up with them at the local library.

Well, maybe the report wasn't that bad. They could pick their own topic; that was a plus. If push came to shove, Caelum could dip into his seemingly endless amount of knowledge about drummers. But for now, he waited on the steps of the library looking up at the sky. It offered a much more entertaining view than the passing cars below.

Sean was never happy to do reports, either. But it's not like get got a choice about it, so he had to suck it up and get to it. He hadn't worked with his assigned partner before, and he thought the boy was new. He ended up suggesting they meet at the library to work on the report, because they'd probably need to go there anyway to find whatever they needed. He had no idea where to start looking though, because they weren't given a topic, or even someplace to start, like a a famous historical event or some kind of animal or something. Maybe Caelum would have an idea for a topic.

He headed over to the library after school, and when he got near he found the pink-haired boy was already there and waiting. Once he got within shouting distance, he waved and called, "Hi, Caelum!"

Caelum found himself completely entranced by a blade of grass. It was a wonderful blade of grass—so long, so green. The longer he stared at it, the longer he thought he was slowly beginning to understand what kind of life it lived, the experiences it fought through as an independent living thing in the big city. Heck, he even thought he saw it grow a little! Having grown so bored waiting that he was even building together a backstory for it, he heard a shout. It took him a moment to register that someone had called him, and when he looked over his shoulder, he saw the other boy a short distance away.

"Oh, Sean!" he cried, suddenly launching to his feet and waving down his work partner as well. "Hey! Been waiting for you!"

Once Sean saw Caelum had seen him, he put his hand down and tucked it in his pocket. "Sorry, I hope you were't waiting too long," he called as he approached the other boy. He didn't feel like shouting too much, so he waited until he got closer to continue.

At the foot of the stairs he commented at a normal volume level, "We didn't get a lot to go off of with this assignment, did we? Not even a category to work from." He shook his head, started up the stairs and added, "I never know where to start when we have to pick our own topic. Do you have any ideas?" he asked, looking hopefully at his classmate.

Caelum waved his hand nonchalantly at the other boy. "Oh, I didn't wait long," he said. "Don't worry about it."

He suddenly mustered up a smile when Sean said he wasn't sure to start when it came to a topic. His ego puffed out like the boy's chest as he pointed a thumb at its center. "Well, I have an idea," he said a tad too proudly. "I mean, I'm only offering it because we're both at a loss and, well, I don't mean to brag, but I know a lot about them. Wanna do a report on drummers? Like, really famous ones, like Neil Peart? Dave Grohl? Ringo Starr? Mrs. Danjuma left the topic choice really open and I think working on something about them would be fun, heh."

Sean grew curious when Caelum said he had an idea. "You do?" he asked, then listened when the other boy explained. The topic was not one he knew anything about, and he had a blank look on his face at the first two names, but at the third... "Oh, I've heard of that last one. From the Beatles, right? My mom used to listen to them a lot." Then he shrugged. Sounded as good an idea as any. "Sure, that could be fun, music is cool. I don't know that much about drummers though, so I'll be following your lead to start with." He headed over to the library door and hauled it open, then stood aside to let Caelum in. "Wanna show me where all the good books are?"

Caelum had to repress his desire to do a fist pump to not look overly pompous, but in his mind, he was kissing his fist and holding it to the imagined sky.

Hey, it was a topic he loved! That, in itself, was a reason to celebrate!

He trotted inside when Sean held the door open for him and stared around in awe at the myriad of books before them in the library. Unfortunately, he pulled all of his information off of the internet, and very little knowledge about libraries let alone how to actually find information in them. He nearly mouthed a "This sucks" aloud, but held his voice down. Instead, he tried not to lose face before his work partner.

"S-sure, let's... UH." He tugged lightly at Sean's sleeve and pointed him to the opposite end of the library. "This way."

Worth a shot.

Sean was perfectly happy to let Caelum take the lead inside. The pink-haired boy seemed to be facing towards the adult section first. Sean looked up at the tall shelves, wondering if any of the books they'd want would be too high for them to reach. But then Caelum stopped, looked around, and turned the other way instead, pulling Sean along with them. "OK," Sean said agreeably, following his partner.

They doubled past the circulation desk and ended up heading towards the Children's section. That made sense, they'd probably find books more at their reading level there. Not to mention height level, since the shelves were barely above their heads here.

As they headed towards the brightly-colored bookcases, he asked Caelum, "So what about drummers do you want to write the report on? It seems like a broad topic, we might need to narrow it down a little so we know where to start."

Caelum twisted his lips to the side as he tried to think what would be a good topic to go on writing about. It took more thought than necessary when he was the type of student to just copy and paste for a Wikipedia page and call it a day. Realizing he wasn't coming to anything, he looked to Sean and blinked a few times cluelessly.

C'mon, you idiot, think of something! he thought to himself. There's gotta be something you can— Oh, I know!

"You mentioned you know the Beatles, right?" he said. "How about we write something about Ringo Starr? Like a biography or something. That shouldn't be too hard and I bet there are a ton of stuff about the Beatles here considering how well-known they are."

Sorry for the wait! Btw, can I hit you up for a disposable youma battle after this for my page, Slievenamon?

Sean had been trying to think of a topic too, but couldn't come up with anything good. Whatever he thought of either didn't seem to fit what Caelum had suggested, or sounded too complicated. Like, he thought of a report about drum music in different cultures, but that wasn't about famous drummers. Or they could try something about famous drummers in different time periods, maybe how drumming had changed over the years? But that seemed way too hard.

Then Caelum suggested a biography and Sean's eyes lit up. "Yeah! That sounds good and easy. We'd just have to try and talk about all the important stuff in his life, and we should find plenty of stuff about that. And if we can't find enough books on just him, we can look up the Beatles to find more."

He looked around the library, and spotted the sign for the Nonfiction section, then one for the Biographies. He considered the two before asking, "Do you want to start with nonfiction books about the Beatles, or biographies about Ringo Starr?"

I'd be happy to do a disposable youma battle after this!

Caelum hummed in thought for a second as he followed after his work partner. "Uhh, let's go with nonfiction books about Ringo first. We can talk about his childhood and stuff first. Like what inspired him to become a drummer and join the Beatles and stuff, and then get to his career, which we can go to the nonfiction books about. If that sounds okay, I mean."

Sean had to stop and interpret that for a moment. He soon decided that by "nonfiction books about Ringo," Caelum must have meant biographies. "Makes sense," he said, and headed for the biography section.

"He should be easy enough to find, since biographies are in alphabetical order by the last name of the person they're about," he commented. He scanned along the shelves looking for the S names, but paused when he found one with the call number "J B Beatles". He pulled it off the shelf to find a book titled "The Beatles were fab (and they were funny)".

"Hey, this one looks fun," he said, showing it to Caelum. Then he saw another, smaller book next to it, titled "Who were the Beatles?" He pulled that one too and started flipping through the novel-sized book. "Oh, and this one's got a chapter on each of the Beatles," he commented. A few pages later he added, "though they're kind of short."

Caelum's red eyes took a good look at the cover of the book. "Oh, yea, it really does," he said, before glancing at the second offered one from him as well. His smile seemed to grow at this one. "Heh, I really like this one. The art on the cover's pretty neat." He dipped his head to the side. "Well, we can still use "Who were the Beatles?" even if its stuff is short. Maybe we can get another book or two, though, just in case there isn't enough information?"

Sean nodded. "Good idea," he said, and continued down the shelves, scanning the names on the call numbers. But when he got to the S names, he didn't see any labeled "J B Starr."

He looked up and down the shelf, just to be sure, then said, "I don't see any on just Ringo Starr, though. Maybe the Children's Section just doesn't have any?" He looked in the direction of the adult nonfiction section, wondering if they had any. But they would probably be really big and have a lot of stuff to go through. If that section even had any. He hummed thoughtfully for a moment before he decided not to head that way for now and looked back to the Children's nonfiction section.

"I guess we can look for other nonfiction books on the Beatles, then?" He said to Caelum.

Caelum nodded his head. "Yea, let's go with that," he said.

Turning his head in the direction of the section, his eyes happened to land on the computers a distance away. "How about this," he began, hooking his thumb behind his shoulder to point at them. "Why don't you cover the books and I can pick out a few articles or things on the net? I know a few good websites to check to get us some more info."
