Hyperborea stomped a heel down on the prone youma leaving nothing but dust where the monster had been. Her new found transcendence had turned her into a prime target for the creatures. Which was fine with her it saved her the trouble of hunting the beasts down, better they come after her than a defenseless civilian.
Speaking of Hyperborea thought as she felt a presence. It didn't have an aura but Hyperborea's trained ears picked up on the sound of human foot steps behind her. A civilian.
A she turned around she was greeted with a familiar face. Evan, the nervous cook she had saved a few months back. She was happy to see the man safe and sound she had forgotten that she was near his bar. He must be on his way home.
"Bonsoir Evan, It's good to see you again." She said offering him a friendly smile.Kyuseisha no Hikari Here's a start, let me know if I need to change anything

Evan almost immediately seemed alarmed; the voice was familiar, but the appearance was different. He was stuttering Hyperborea's name before his brain could even keep up with him—and then he just seemed like he'd confused himself when it was all settling in.
He was clutching his bag closely, pale as always and with bags under his eyes, but a smile was quick to split on his face. "You—I'm really happy to run into you back here. A lot of weirdos have been creeping around so for a second I was worried you were one of them." He paused and gave her a bit of a more scrutinous look. "But, uhm…your outfit changed? What's all that…all that glowing? Are you okay?" he asked—and seemed genuinely worried for her.

Hyperborea smiled sympathetically at Evan, this was probably the first time he'd seen someone advance in rank so he must be confused. "I'm fine. Do you remember how last time we meet I told you was a squire? Well I was promoted to the rank of knight, so my uniform was upgraded as well. My weapon also changed." She said summoning her staff for demonstration
"As for the glowing, I'm now whats called transcended. Basically I've become incorruptible. Remember the starseeds we talked about before, mine can't be touched or corrupted by the Negaverse now." She explained.
"Would you like to sit down, we can catch up." she said motioning to a nearby bench.

"Oh," he said, seeming surprised. "Up in rank? You got a promotion?"
He watched as she summoned her weapon and his eyes went wide as he tried to absorb all the small details. It was a lot to take in, but he'd gotten used to knowing that there were just uncontrollable things going on around him. "Oh, but uhm—yeah, sitting down and catching up sounds good. I've been on my feet all day. I was on my way home—well, you know. My friend's home, but I stay with him—but. He's…I don't know. Missing right now, or something."
Evan looked worried. "Haven't heard from him in a few days and I don't know what to do. When we were in highschool he used to do it, but…I've had to cover for him at work and he isn't responding my calls—or uhm, a friend of ours. But…I don't know. I hope he's okay. It's just—knowing about you, and the youma, I…"
He sighed; he'd kept a lot bottled up and looked at her apologetically while quickly trying to tie things up. "…I hope he's got someone like you looking after him and he's just, I don't know, passed out drunk at some friend's house."

"Yeah basically, I'm alot stronger now and my magic improved. Though personally I could do without the added dress length." She said with a laugh.
Then the conversation took a darker tone. Hyperborea was worried for Evan's friend, people who went missing in this city tended to meet a terrible fate. She just hoped if nothing else this friend had not been turned into youma, not that she would voice this fear to Evan. She hoped he would never have to know the horrible truth about what a youma was.
"I hope so too, do you have a picture, I can keep an eye out for him on patrol." She said as she looked Evan over he looked terrible like he hadn't gotten much sleep.
"You don't seem like you're doing so hot yourself. Hang on a moment." she said as she placed her hand on his cheek. She had not tried this ability herself yet but she had seen Babylon transfer energy so she figured she could do it as well. She willed some of her energy to flow into Evan.
"Do you feel any better?" She asked hoping it had worked. "So have you been safe lately, have the youma or anything else been bothering you?"

Evan seemed embarrassed with her touching him and almost immediately shied away; his heart was pounding and he felt a surge of energy, though he didn't know what it meant. To him, it was an adrenaline rush. He tried to conceal his awkwardness by blurting, "But your dress looks good." He tried to sound reassuring.
…But he really couldn't imagine trying to run around in something like that—much less fight monsters and evils.
He was trying to distract himself from talking about his friend, or how he felt, but the topics were inevitable and he knew he couldn’t avoid them.
His eyes drifted to the ground. "…I feel better," he said, partially because he suddenly felt more awake. He was also partially lying. "And I guess I have a picture, but…it's stupid." He pulled out his wallet, and with a trembling hand fished through it until he extracted a picture. He held onto it tightly, and looked almost ashamed before he showed it to her. It was a picture of a taller blonde male, face splattered with freckles. He was wearing a smug look, but it seemed to be a tender moment. His arm was thrown over Evan's shoulder and the dark haired male seemed to be laughing, curled against the body next to him.
It was an intimate photograph, and Evan looked away while he showed it. "…It's the only one I have. But he's uhm. He usually doesn't look so happy. Uhm. I don't know. If you see him…if you could let me know…"
His voice lost his volume and, after only a few seconds he was trying to pocket the picture quickly.

She blushed at his complement looking down at her feet in embarrassment. "You really think so? I guess the dress is kind of cute, especially without the armor on."
She looked at the photo and memorized the face in it, she didn't see anything that Evan should be embarrassed about. "I'll keep my eyes open for him, and I don't think its stupid Evan."
"So how have you been doing in terms of the magic world, no more youma attacks right or anything else?" She asked. She tried to do sweeps of the area every couple of days but she didn't really have the time to check it thoroughly.

Evan managed to tuck away his picture away and glance back up at her. His face was still a little red and he rubbed at his nose as if that was going to dispel it. "Uh, no…I mean, well. Yeah. But I've got bad luck so I guess run-ins shouldn't be surprising. Mostly I've been okay. I just can't believe there are so many out there, you know?"
He shifted his weight from one foot to the other. "I get that you guys are trying your hardest to take care of them—you and the other senshi and knights and…you know, magical people who live in the city—but I can't believe, like…that the government hasn't stepped in, you know? But."
He shrugged. "…I guess they kinda only look out for themselves."
Evan seemed a little bitter but didn't dwell on it and instead cast his eyes on a scummy building just barely in his line of vision.

"It's not easy, I couldn't even guess at how many there are out there. The first youma were made a thousand years ago. If they've been making them since then...." She trailed off not really wanting to put the worry on Evan.
"But hey its not all lost, I men every day we survive and keep fighting we get stronger. I mean I'm stronger than ever before and I can take out most of those things with no problem now." She said trying to sound as confident about this as possible.
"But yeah it does seem strange that the police don't even try to step in, I mean they must know." She thought about her parents, how their murder had just been written off as an attack by some wild animal.
"Oh well its not like they could do much to help anyways." She said a bit bitter about the whole thing.

Evan's face contorted into one of horror and disgust when he began to imagine just how many youma could have been made in a thousand years.
"I—I guess," he blurted, but he didn't sound very convinced. "It's…it's not like everyone gets stronger, the longer they stick around. Some people just get weaker. I mean—"
He opened his mouth to say something, seemed to think against it and then just shrugged. "…It's good that you're getting stronger, though. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to take care of yourself. The people you look after are really lucky to have you. To be honest," he shrugged and took careful effort to avert his gaze. "I don't like police anyway, so it's a good thing I don't see them as much as I see youma. I don't know if I could handle both."

Hyperborea immediately regretted speaking her mind when she saw the look of horror on Evan's face. "It's not as unbalanced as it seems. Think of it like this once there was a senshi for every heavenly body in the sky; every star, planet, moon, and asteroid had a senshi guardian and many of those worlds had countless knights to protect them. That is the potential fighting force of order, and each day more of the starseeds of those senshi and knights are being reborn." If she were being honest most of that was assumptions on her part. She couldn't know for sure if every thing heavenly body had a guardian or how many senshi actually had knight, nor could she be sure all of those starseed survived the fall of the Silver Millennium to be reincarnated now. But Evan needed hope so she tried to seem as positive on the subject as possible.
She couldn't argue with his rebuttal, it was true some people simply get worn down the longer they fight but still. "You might be right, it is true somepeople don't get stronger. But some do, and they are the ones who can protect innocents the best. I have met people who have been fighting so long they were given amazing powers, we call them Royals. They have really powerful magic and physical abilities plus they can bring willing chaos agents back into the light, they can burn away chaos' corruption." She said earnestly. She admired the royals greatly, they were their best hope of winning the war in her opinion.

Evan hesitated for longer than he cared to admit, and it was hard to accept Hyperborea's word as any sort of comfort. His mind was still reeling, but he was struggling to pull his thoughts back together. The thought of powerful warriors was somewhat reassuring, and he finally just sort of slumped and nodded. "All right," he said, voice hesitant but trusting. "…I'm back in the field of thinking I understand things, but then I learn something new and it just hurts my head."
He sighed, and reached up to scrub at his temples.
"I hope you get to be a Royal, or whatever, one day. That way if anything ever happened to me, I could trust you to fix me." He paused, and then looked up hesitantly. "Uh—if that…if it isn't too much to ask, I mean. I don't wanna be a burden or anything…"

"That is kind of you to say, I certainly wouldn't mind becoming a royal myself one day. But I hope that I can protect you so that you'll never need their care." She paused for a moment at his last comment.
She reached out and gently laid a hand on his shoulder in what she hoped was a comforting gesture. "Evan you are no burden please trust me, no senshi or knight worth their magic would ever consider a civilian not worthy of saving. For me personally, people like you are the reason I can continue to fight and struggle, knowing that I am saving and protecting innocent lives keeps me going."
She sighed, then an idea hit her. "Evan, I'm afraid I can't stay much longer but how about this when next we meet I'll show you something truly wonderful."

Evan donned a soft, mirthless smile that betrayed his own thoughts of his worth, but he nodded. "Okay. Yeah—sorry for keeping you. Thanks for talking with me. I'm going to stay out for a bit longer, I still wanna find my friend or something, but…I probably won't stay out much longer."
It was a weak lie; he'd stay out as long as he could or until he found what he was looking for.
"I'll see you around—you take care, be safe."

Hyperborea knew that smile, it was one she wore often enough to know what Evan's thoughts were. It made her sad Evan still thought so badly of himself but she couldn't do anything to make him think otherwise.
"Alright, I'll do a sweep of the area for any hiding Youma or officers before I leave. Try not to stay out too late." She said hoping he would take it to heart.
"I will, you do the same. Until next time, au revoir."
