It actually hadn't been that long since Peyton had seen snow. Back, at the beginning of 2015, she and Roland had gone off somewhere cold, somewhere away from the island, because all Peyton had wanted to do at the time was forget how awful everything was. Funny, how awful things seemed to come in waves. Maybe, then, good things did as well. Maybe it was just a matter of letting in the good, rather than trying to keep it out. Those had been the sorts of things that seemed to live in the small Sun's head more often than not. The circular thoughts that chased each other around when she didn't have anything to distract her from them. Gloved hands buried in the pockets of her coat, the girl was listening to the crunch of the snow beneath her boots as she walked along the edge of the path leading from cafeteria to dorms. Despite having her own kitchen, she still occasionally made her way down, possibly just to keep tabs on familiar faces and new.

Snow was something that Andy didn't really have experience with. Sure, he'd been up to Big Bear once - if you counted driving through it on the way to visit some family - but that had been like five minutes in the cold, watching snow being made by a machine (he later found out they'd been using "reclaimed" sewage water to make it, which had grossed him out mightily). So the fact that there was so much of it here was both exciting and also an irresistible chance at getting up to Something. Unbeknownst to Peyton, she was being watched. Pale, clear blue eyes that sparkled with mischief followed her crunching along, waiting for just the right moment to attack. Andy, dressed warmly this time (he'd been out once earlier, in his skivvies, and had regretted the excitement that made him leave the warmth of the dorms under-dressed), went tearing after Peyton, legs churning the snow as he plunged through it to get to her. Once he was within range of a good tackle, the blond let loose a war-cry and flung himself at her; he would, of course, grab her and spin around so that he took the brunt of landing on the softly packed snow if he could swing it, but there would be no escaping. Peyton was going down.

Honestly, she should have known. It had been a quiet afternoon, almost too quiet, and in fact, she'd begun to wonder where the trainee was hiding, since she hadn't seen much of him since that morning. Busy, she'd assumed, which had been fine, since it'd allowed her to get some work of her own done without him weighing heavily on her mind as a distraction. Something that seemed inevitable when he was free to message her throughout the day. His absence meant rationality was able to creep back. Or rather, what she'd originally thought to be rationality, but was in reality her own insecurities and issues under the guise of reason. For the most part she did her best to simply ignore her own thoughts when they wandered in his direction, but that wasn't always easy. The distraction was a good thing, really, though there would be no gracious acceptance of it from the tiny Sun as a large form came barreling loudly up behind her and threw themselves at her with enough force to send them both crashing into the snow. It would result in a startled, undignified shriek from Peyton as she reflexively wrapped her hands around the arm that had circled her waist, small frame curling inward until they had landed. Breathing heavily, there was a small pause before she was turning her head enough to see the grinning young man that now held her against his chest. "Andy!" She didn't sound amused. Yet.

She should have. Peyton had been around the younger Miller brother long enough by then to have had an inkling of what might happen. Especially since he'd been MIA for some time before his flying tackle of her person. Her shriek was fantastic and totally worth the trouble he'd be in later. Andy's smile was beatific, his nose and cheeks pinked from the chill and the snow; she didn't sound or look amused, but he was hoping that he could change that. "Hey gorgeous, how're you doin?" Now that he had her with him and the snow, he found himself unsure what to do - keep the tiger by the tail, or.... Hm, I didn't think this through very much.

He sounded entirely too nonchalant for as much trouble as he'd just landed himself in. Her brows arched at the question, lips twitching down in a small, annoyed pout as she contemplated a proper response. After a quiet moment, she'd go literal. "Cold." And for a second, perhaps, it'd seem as though she were relaxing against him--her hands loosened around his arm, falling down at her sides, and the tension in her legs loosened under booted feet were resting on his thighs. But of course, he couldn't see the twin handful of snows she was scooping up at his sides, only the top of her head and shoulders. "Not half as cold as you're going to be, though." It was said so casually, so utterly calm, that following white wash of snow being smashed into his face likely came as a bit of a shock. A dirty move, maybe, but two could play that game.

Peyton spoke only one word though Andy could see that several came to mind and were discarded, then she was relaxing against him. Or so he thought, beginning to feel very pleased with himself for his successful attack that garnered no reciprocity. And then there was more, in a tone that sent chills along his spine, and she was smashing snow into his face while his brain and body were still trying to react. "Augh!" No real words came from the big blond, just a series of astonished and incredulous sounds as he sputtered and tried to wipe the barrage of snow from his eyes and nose. It was cold - so very cold and he could feel his nose, lips, and cheeks burning from the bite of the powdery packed ice. Peyton played so dirty! "Pey!" He finally sputtered and wrapped his arms around her so she couldn't get more snow. "I can't feel my nose." But he was laughing, for all the bleary-eyed blinking he was doing.

She took the opportunity to roll of him, bouncing up to her feet in the snow and retreating a few steps as he struggled to recover from the vicious white washing she'd just brought down upon him. An over satisfied, victorious grin coming to life on delicate features as he waled, lamenting the frozen state of his nose. "Oh, it's there," she mused back cooly, even a little coldly. Teasing relentlessly after the unexpected tackle into the snow. "Surely you can see its still there. I mean I'm not sure how you'd miss it." There was, of course, absolutely nothing wrong with his nose, but the dainty Sun was not against playing dirty. And he's earned it. Bending, Peyton scooped up a handful of snow, loose packing it into a ball before tossing it at him so it'd explode on his chest. "So what's the meaning of this vicious attack on my person?"
