Rishima starred down at the note that he had in hand reading it over for the third time before he gave a soft, humming sound in his throat. It wasn't really that surprising a note, not given who he was, as well as his rank, of course there would be those who would request his help. Even so he'd still admit that the contents of the note were interesting. Not just interesting but maybe a little intimidating as well. It was a request from some villagers in Andile, some that he'd chatted with before in the past when he went to town for supplies. The note started out with a greeting, then was quickly followed by the problem that people were having, and then straight into requesting that Rishima help deal with said problem. Not surprising that the villagers weren't equipped for it, after all who wanted to deal with invading menzuri? Even Rishima found those particular beasts to be intimidating. They were the sort that one should avoid, not actively seek out, and he would have told the villagers just that were it not for the fact that the menzuri in question were building their webs far too close to the village itself.

One couldn't just move an entire village to avoid the beasts meaning that someone, Rishima in this case, was going to have to deal with them. It was a job that he'd kept from Gerraden, not wanting him to try to follow when it was a rather dangerous job, the sort that he didn't want him to be a part of. He'd much rather face the danger himself knowing that Gerraden was safe, knowing that he'd be able to go back to him once the menzuri had been taken care of. Once Gerraden had gotten some more training in then maybe he could bring him along, but only if he knew that Gerr was ready for the jobs.

Giving once last glance over his shoulder toward where he and his lover lived he continued onward toward where the menzuri were gathering. Luckily for Rishima, with the word lucky used loosely, there was a small map included with the note to help him find them. Upon looking it over he could tell how dire the situation was. Not only were the menzuri moving in on the village but they seemed to be taking over a prime water source, likely because various other beasts also needed water making it easier for the spiders to catch abundant prey. The more prey they caught the better off they were, the better off they were the more young they could support, which would only make them that much more numerous. He had to deal with them before they started to lay their eggs or else there was going to be an epidemic of them, which couldn't be allowed. Rishima would need to cull the menzuri before they became more of a threat then they already were.

As he got closer to where he was heading Rishima's antennae twitched like crazy. He didn't like this, knowing that there wasn't just one menzuri setting up webs but many. He would need to be careful, to sneak up on them, and hopefully get in a few good shots against the dangerous creatures before they knew what was happening. Meaning that he would need to get a more advantageous perch he thought to himself, looking up toward the higher branches of the tree he was already in. After a thoughtful moment he started to climb higher before he moved forward once more, across the branches, and toward when the spiders were waiting for him. He knew the very moment that he'd arrived in their territory, not just because of the webs that were around him, but because of the fact that it seemed so much quieter. It was as though every other animal in the area was staying silent so as not to draw the attention of the dangerous creatures. It meant that he was going to have to be just as quiet. If he wasn't then it was likely that they would find him before he spotted any of them, not something that he wanted to risk.

No, he needed to be certain that he was able to get a preemptive strike against the menzuri in hopes of taking down at least one of their number before they spotted him. Once he made his first strike, a strike that had to count, they were going to be on the offensive. He'd be out numbered against a powerful foe in moments, meaning that he'd need to call on every trick that he had to be able to take on the menzuri in a one on many situation. Now, to find them he thought to himself, thinking on it for a moment before an idea popped to mind.

Reaching for his hair he removed one of the decorative rings in it, giving the pretty item a once over, before tossing it. The ring flew forward, sticking to the strands of one of the menzuri's webs, causing it to shake. The moment that it did so one of the menzuri made itself known, rushing forward toward the ring as though ready to sink its fangs in. It wouldn't take long for it to realize it wasn't food though, but by that time Rishima's spear had already been buried deep in its neck. From there the amazon twisted his spear and with a rather sickening crack the menzuri's head was separated from its body. Said body fell from the web, hitting the ground loudly, where it lay twitching for a few moments before going still.

The moment the creature had been beheaded Rishima had already sunk back into the shadows to wait for his next opportunity to strike. The death of the first menzuri, as well as all the noise from its body falling to the ground, allowed drew forth the rest of them. It gave him the chance to see what he was dealing with and it was enough to make his skin crawl. There were still four of them, huh? Something that made his antennae twitch a bit with disgust. It was no wonder the villagers needed help with this matter he thought to himself as he moved forward, staying as silent as he could, as he crept up behind another of the spiders.

Rishima's spear flashed forward, only this time instead of a clean kill the spider shifted in a manner he hadn't anticipated causing his weapon to strike a glancing blow instead of a real one. The menzuri gave a screeching sound, spinning around to face Rishima before his spear was thrust forward into its mouth, silencing it. The second of the group of menzuri had been dealt with but now he had caught the full attention of the other three. He could see and feel their many eyes on him, and he was quick to back away, working on his next move in his head. Three on one was vastly better then five on one, but that didn't mean that it was going to be easy or anything like that he thought to himself as he prepared for the next stage of the battle. Nothing was ever easy when it came to menzuri but he meant to get this done, wanting to be keep everyone, Gerraden included, safe from this eight legged threat. He'd be damned if he let something like the menzuri anywhere near Gerraden he thought to himself, antennae twitching rapidly.

Upon being discovered by the menzuri during his second attack against them the first thing that Rishima had done was to put distance between himself and the beasts. They were pursuing, but this way it allowed one of them to break free from the others, charging forward through the branches of the trees toward where Rishima was standing. It was a rather intimidating thing, watching such a creature baring down on him, but he couldn't retreat. If he did that would allow the menzuri the chance to disappear into the forest. It could be days before he was able to find them all again and by then they could have hurt or killed someone. No, this had to be done now, all of them dealt with in one attack he told himself, praying for Aisha's blessing on this matter. Sure, Andile was a Shifter village for the most part, but that didn't mean that he shouldn't protect them. It wasn't even because he was half Shifter himself but instead because he just wanted to protect people. He'd failed to do so in Sauti, but he would do all he could now not to fail again.

Teeth gritting, hands tightening on his spear, Rishima thrust it forward as the closest menzuri got into range. He used the creature's charging speed against it, allowing it to throw itself into the tip of its spear, impaling it. The impact was enough to bury the spear deep, but it also threw Rishima backwards. He stumbled a bit on his perch, feet slipping, and he fell down to the next set of branches dragging his spear along with him. The injured menzuri took a couple steps after Rishima but instead of being able to pursue fell instead, hitting several branches on the way down, before hitting a tangle of roots below. It flailed about down there, unable to get up, too injured and broken to get far, instead screeching up a storm. Not a good sound as it did make Rishima's ears ache a little, but it wasn't as though the other menzuri didn't already know where he was. In fact he was barely on his feet again when another of them was upon him.

Giving a soft curse Rishima took a couple stabs at the menzuri, trying to force it backwards, to give himself room to work with. It was successful, though barely with the things long legs sweeping out at him, striking hard enough against his spear that it made his arms go a little numb from the impact. Gritting his teeth Rishima forced himself to continue to fight against the creature despite the fact that the return of feeling to his hands was a painful sensation. Were it a duel against one of his sisters he might have called for a time out, but given it wasn't something he could do now he fought through the pain. The battle consisted mostly of him blocking all of the menzuri's attacks that he could before finding his opening, thrusting forward through one of the menzuri's eyes and into its head, putting it down.

Pulling his weapon free from the menzuri he allowed it to fall and, much to his relief, it fell on the still screeching one, silencing it as well. So it was one on one now he thought to himself, hands tightening on his weapon, looking around for it. It was still around somewhere he thought to himself a moment before he found his leg tangled in menzuri webbing. It was startling and terrifying as that one thing took away his ability to dodge and retreat, tying him in place, and forced him to face the final menzuri head on. The battle was a grueling one, one that left Rishima with several wounds, before he was able to find his opening to put the final spider down.

After the last one fell Rishima set to work freeing himself from the webbing before he collapsed on the branch, relief filling him. He'd been quite terrified that he was going to get himself eaten, and now that he was safe he couldn't help but to shake from relief. Once he was able to compose himself again he'd let the villagers know that the menzuri had been dealt with, for the moment though he just wanted to sit and rest a while. Leaning with his back against the base of the tree, his eyes sinking shut, all he could really think about was Gerraden. How he wanted to rush home to him... but he had to report back to the villages of Andile first. He had to remain professional in this, get it done, and then he could go cling to Gerraden for a bit.
