Diahart swam through the water, eyes wide with curiosity as she took in her new surroundings. Her mother and finally deemed it alright to venture out alone without any company and she intended to take full advantage of it; hearing her older sister's recount tales of how great and vast the world was outside of their small home excited the young seathi beyond belief. And now she was free to do so! Her body felt jittery with excitement as she took in the new surroundings: blue waters, plants that thrived in this watery environment, aquatic animals... So... pretty much the same as her home. But while the area all in all looked the same to her as her home did, it was new. So that meant it had to be different! Refreshing!
At least that's what the seathi kept telling herself. Unfortunately, she found herself becoming more and more disappointed; she was expecting more - Asha recounted encounters with strangers that walked on land, more seathi's like them, other aquatic creatures that held interesting personalities. Treasures from two-leggers! Dia had yet to see any of that, however. Just blue waters, green plants, boring fish. She huffed, causing a tumult of bubbles to release from her mouth. She was getting incredibly bored, very fast. Perhaps it was wrong of her to trust Asha so closely, to take all her words and stories as fact. Or maybe she wasn’t lucky! The seathi was at war with herself on the matter; she just wanted to have some fun to tell her sister about, so she could be the storyteller and not the listener, but it didn’t look like it’d happen. She’d have to head back home soon, where she’d huff angrily at Asha and rant about how the outside was just as boring – if not more – than their home, and how there was more to do with her family.
But perhaps she had to seek it out. Maybe it didn't just come to her. She jittered anxiously, trying to figure out what to do when it caught her eye. Looking in the distance, her eyes set on a small patch of seaweed. Deciding to play a fun game she normally did at home because frankly, that would be the first form of fun she'd have since setting out on her little adventure, she swam over to it as fast as her small body brought her. Reaching it in no time, she let out a gentle giggle, and dived her head into the patch, adjusting her position so the plant appeared to drape over her head like a mane might. If only her sister and mom were here right now! Asha would probably be on the seafloor, laughing her tail off while her mother would be shaking her head disapprovingly while trying to hide her smile.

It was a nice day for a swim. The water was a nice temperature and the sun seemed to shine right through the surface, lighting up the sea floor beautifully. It was really a sight to behold for anyone who was looking for it. Hippocampus loved days like these. They were perfect for going out and seeing if he could find someone to swim around with! Or some nice shells, maybe even something that floated in from the surface! That was always an exciting thing. He often wondered to himself what the item was when he would find something. Saving these things was important for when he would see his land friend again. She would probably love to explain them to him. He's already found some interesting things that she has explained to him, like a pipe. The pipe was his favorite thing that he's found so far. He had been told it was for smoking, but it certainly makes some good bubbles! This item was carried with him everywhere, in his small satchel that he kept his found shells in.
Hippocampus wiggled his way out into the more open water. It was just so nice, he couldn't help but be excited! Something was bound to happen today. He could just feel it in his fins. Something exciting. Or at least something that was different from the day before. Anything would be more than the rather uneventful day from the before. He didn't mind uneventful. It was just... ho-hum. And lately he has been feeling like he needs some kind of change. Something more!
Wiggling his way down to the floor, he nosed about in the soft sand a bit. He thought he had seen something shiny down there. Shiny meant either a shell, or maybe something from the surface. Pulling back his nose, he used his hoof to dig around a bit more. There it was! Digging the item out of the sand, he found that it was a rather large shell. Shaped like a cone and seemed to shine with silver and gold. This was a good shell for his collection! Maybe even one that he would put out in the main room of his cave home. He was sure that others would love to see the beauty of this shell. Carefully Hippo placed the shell into his small bag, smiling to himself a bit. It was definitely going to be a good day!
Swimming further into the more open water, he spied something moving about in some seaweed. He swam closer to it still, seeing it more again. This time he was sure something was in there! Especially when he then heard a giggle. He was a bit taken aback but it and flitted back. There was nothing to be worried about! How silly was he doing that.
Shaking his head to himself he came closer to the seaweed still. Slowly and carefully he came around the front of the seaweed, he didn't want to startle whatever might be in there.
Quietly, he spoke. "Hello there...?"
