"Stop it!"

The cry echoed through the trees as Masika whined and shimmied farther out on a branch of the tree she'd managed to climb up. Her mother's radaku was stuck at the base of it but he was growling at those around him. Some shifter kids had taken to picking on her. Masi was the cry baby that was easy to scare. One of the boys had chased her with a spider to the point that she was now in the tree. Maha was doing his best to keep them out of it but he couldn't stop them from throwing things up at her.

Masika felt her little antennae droop a bit. "Go away!" She called out at the kids in an attempt to get them to leave her be. If her sister were here they'd have left her be. Or even her parents. "Leave me alone!"

It was then that the boy with the spider threw the arachnid up at her and landed a lucky hit. The eight legged thing clung to Masika's foot and she screamed and wiggled her leg trying to shake it off. "Get it off! Get it off!"

Lixes turned his head, looking around, a bit of a confused look on his head, "Huh?" Had someone just yelled at him to stop it? No, that couldn't be, he wasn't really doing all that much. He was just sort of running along, hopping from branch to branch. He was going through another growth spurt, leaving the boy with long, lanky limbs, and he was trying to get used to it. It seemed to happen every time he had one of these spurts, leaving him certain that one day he was going to be the size of his father Yaholo. Hurrying along once more he hopped along... then came to a stop when the voice yelled out once more to 'go away' and 'leave her alone'.

Turning around from side to side he said, "What is that? You see anything Pyre?" He called to the brightly colored radaku that was following along after him. The creature gave a growl, tail swishing, before hurrying forward to leave Lixes along. Giving a shrug he headed after him, taking the branches while Pyre rushed along the roots.

As they arrived on the scene he found himself starring, spotting some younglings picking on another one who was up a tree. On the ground, growling away, was another radaku who seemed to be on the girl's side... and Pyre seemed to be heading that way, to aid his fellow beast. Leaving it to him he hurried forward, across the branches, and jumped across to land on a branch above the brightly colored girl. Squatting down on the branch he leaned over and gave the spider a flick, doing his best to aim it so it would land on the kids below. Given that they were younglings he couldn't really do much more then try to save the girl from them. A shame they were older, he could punch them... though that wasn't very heroic? Instead he should just scoop her up and make his escape, right? Maybe, hard to say since he was still new at the whole hero thing.

Maha was busy growling away at those tormenting his little person so when another radaku showed up to seemingly help he lifted his head. Able to take his attention away from the kids long enough to check on Masika he noticed something. There was someone in the tree with her! This caused the beast to growl louder and pace before he tried to climb the tree. Since he didn't know if this person was friend or foe he didn't like him so close to his little one.

The spider that was flicked from her leg flew and landed on the face of the boy who had thrown it to begin with. This caused him to freak out and try to get it off as he screamed. Masika would have found this funny had she not been startled by the fact that there was someone in the tree with her. Giving a small squeak of surprise she tried to look at Lixes but started to loose her balance. From shaking her leg too much she had already made her position dangerous. "Ah!" She felt herself slipping and tried to grab on to the branch that she was using as her perch.

The additional animal and the bigger person in the tree was enough to make the other kids give up on picking on Masika. They all turned to leave, still laughing, and went on their way.

"Yes! Perfect shot!" Lixes declared when the spider he'd given a flick landed on one of the brats down below. He couldn't do anything personally but it seemed that he could trust the spider to take care of things for him. He squatted down on the branch, watching the little hoodlums with his mismatched eyes as they seemed to give up, deciding that they were going to abandon their current task of picking on the bright blue girl and went racing off, "Hey! Pyre, don't worry about them!" He called to the radaku that seemed tempted to give chase. They were leaving, that was what mattered, no reason to chase them further and risk getting into trouble.

His eyes then went to the girl a branch below him who seemed to be slipping, "Uh-oh!" Lixes was quick to reach down, trying to catch hold of her, not wanting her to fall and get hurt. It wasn't a huge drop but still, what if she landed on her head? He wasn't able to get her hand, which would have been more useful, but he was at least able to catch her by the ankle, "Hey, you alright? Should I pull you up to where I am or lower you to the ground?" He wasn't really certain that he could do the former thing, he wasn't as muscular as his day yet, but he would at least try! If he failed he could always lower her down and either Pyre or the other one could help to catch her.

Before she could completely slip off and fall to the ground she was grabbed by the person in the tree. Of course he caught her by the ankle so now Masika was dangling upside down. When he asked what he should do with her, bring her up or put her down, she gave a small yelp and pointed to the ground. "Down please." As much as she liked the idea of being safe in the tree, she was afraid she'd be dropped.

Maha was digging his claws into the trunk of the tree trying to get to Masika. However, when he saw that she was being dangled he went to pacing beneath her. The radaku was still growling as he now viewed Lixes as a threat to his person. He was not a happy beast.

Lixes did his best not to sigh in relief when the girl said that she wanted to go down to the ground instead of back up. It was more easily accomplished meaning he wouldn't look like a failure of a hero. Instead he was able to look like a real one! Giving a smile he said, "Alright, down it is." With that he was careful to lower her down toward the ground, pausing when he saw the other radaku had decided to turn on him, something that instantly had Pyre growling as well, "If that one is yours, little blue girl, can you ask it to calm down? I don't want our radaku getting in a brawl for no reason." He asked of her. The last thing they needed was bloodshed when thing seemed to be going well enough.

Once the girl was close enough to the ground he released her, allowing her to fall into a pile of fallen leaves that had accumulated under the tree, "You alright down there?" He called to her, deciding that he'd remain in the tree for now, at least until the other radaku decided that Lixes wasn't dinner. So much for looking heroic, hard to do so when one was cowering in a tree... he'd have to try harder next time.

She was happy to be lowered down, though when he paused she did her best to look... up? at him. Why was he just dangling her there!? Masika could feel the blood rushing to her head and it was certainly making her dizzy. Then she learned why. "Maha! No!" She called at her mother's familiar.

That seemed to be enough to garner the radaku's attention and he stopped growling, but he did pace. Seeing his person dangling made him anxious.

As she was dropped into the pile of leaves she tucked her head and covered it with her arms to make sure she didn't hurt her antennae. Still she let out a small grunt when she landed then a squeak as a cold nose met her neck. Her family pet had come in to sniff and make sure she was okay. "Eeee, I'm fine." Uncurling she sat up and huffed before she tried to fix her hair, pulling leaves from it and combing it down with her fingers.

Lixes watched the other radaku closely before he made his way down the tree, going to squat down next to Pyre, giving him a scratch under the chin, "You did a good job, Pyre, yes you did!" He praised the brightly colored radaku. The beast tended to follow Lixes every time he wandered off, trained to protect the blond boy and his brothers. It was nice to see that he'd help protect others as well if the need arose... though he did have to wonder if Pyre was even helping protect the blue girl. It was eiter that or he was merely chasing those kids away from Lixes on principle. Either way it had all worked out in the end.

Turning his mismatched eyes to look at Masika he gave her a smile, "I'm glad to see that you're alright. No bumps or bruises? No spider bites?" Best to make sure that she didn't need to be brought to a healer or something he thought to himself. If she was alright then he would probably consider bringing her back to... well, wherever she belonged. Surely she didn't live out here alone, just her and a radaku? At least he really hoped not... otherwise he wasn't sure what he should do with her then. He'd probably have to ask Drexl given his older brother was a lot smarter then he was. If anyone knew the answer to a difficult problem it would be his brother.

"Mm." Masika nodded her head before she finally got to her feet. Despite being half Alkidike she was small, hinting that she was going to take after her earthling side. While she looked at Lixes the first thing she noticed was his different colored eyes. How pretty, she thought to herself. Then she noticed that he had markings like her sister and mother did and smiled.

Maha moved to stand in front of the girl as he looked onward at the pair. Then, seeing that the boy wasn't going after Masika, he moved so that he circled her and settled down at her side.

She shook her head at the radaku and almost stumbled over as she felt him run into her. With a huff she righted herself and put a hand on him to keep her balance. Giving her attention back to Lixes she seemed to stare. So far she'd seen only one other hybrid and he had been much older. This one was older than her but not on the scale Rishima had been. "Th-Thank you for saving me." Her little antennae gave a shudder as she thought about the spider that had landed on her. Those beady eyes, the legs.. it made her whole body shiver. "Who are you...?" Masika asked a bit hesitantly. She was curious to know who it was that helped her out, but at the same time she didn't want to be rude.

Good that she was doing well he thought to himself before he pushed up to his feet, brushing himself off, "I'm glad that you're alright!" Sure, small spiders weren't too bad, but what if the spider the boys had been messing with was a baby menzuri or something? Probably best that they were more careful so that they could avoid being eaten by something that terrifying he thought to hismelf idly. If they had riled up some of those particular creatures Lixes wasn't sure what he might have done since he was empty handed. He really did need to get his hands on a weapon sooner then later... though it might difficult talking his parents into such a thing. Maybe if he approached them with the idea with Drexl at his side?

Giving a smile as the girl thanked him for the rescue he said, "Don't worry about it, it's all in a day's work for a hero! Erm... well, hero in training at least." He wasn't a hero yet, but one day he would be! Crossing his arms behind his head, giving a bright smile, Lixes said, "My name is Lixes! What about you, blue girl? What's your name?"

Blue girl? Again? She looked down at herself and felt a bit of shame over her coloring. Why did everyone mention her color like it was a bad thing? Some of the shifter kids had even said it wasn't the natural color of an Alkidike. Her orange eyes settled on the green speckles that dotted her arms and she instantly put a hand over them on one arm. Of course that didn't help the ones on her face. "I'm Masika." Came her reply after a moment.

She looked around nervously for another minute before she brought her gaze back to him. Masi couldn't help that she was so curious about him. "Lixes? Are.. Are you half Alk?" He didn't have the antennae like she did but those markings of his stood out. Unless they were paint? Or.. what did her mother call them.. tattoos? Her cheeks warmed up and started to turn a purple hue as she dropped her eyes. The little girl felt embarrassed for not knowing. "Ah.. you have markings like my mother."

"It's nice to meet you, Masika, all things considered." He said, giving a bit of a laugh. It might have met her when she wasn't hiding in a tree from some bullies but no matter, at least they'd been able to meet which was, in his mind at least, a lot of fun!

Giving a shake of his head Lixes looked himself over then said, "No, not half. I am a mix of things, but Alkidike is one of them. I am a quarter that." He looked at the marks that he bore upon his skin, the main thing about him that said 'Alkidike' as he lacked the more obvious qualities of the group. He didn't mind though, he knew what he was and that was what mattered most. Giving a smile Lixes asked, "So your mother is an Alkidike then? That's cool, one of my fathers is half, which is where I get my Alk blood from. What's your other parent like?"

What made her all bright and blue like that? It was such a neat color he couldn't help but to wonder since none of the hybrid friends he'd made thus far were so blue, not even the boy Nim that he'd met ages ago.

As he said it was nice to meet her she had to wonder if he really meant it or if he was just being polite. Either way, she was happy to have him here. It had helped save her from the creepy crawly thing. "Oh. You just had the markings like my Mum and Sisa." She gave a very soft nod of her head.

She was nudged by Maha as he seemed to want her attention again. So Masika put her hand on him and scratched around his horns the way her mother showed her to. Just then she was asked about her other parent. "My Dadae is of the water. From Matoey." She was still learning about her family ties and the worlds they came from, so of course she said Matori wrong, but it was cute.

One of the blond boy's hands moved to touch one of the marks that he bore upon his arm, starring at it for a moment, before he said, "Its what really marks me as having some Alk blood, but kind of the only thing. So you noticing is pretty impressive." He had to admit that the girl was pretty sharp for a youngling, which impressed him. If she were a bit older he'd invite her to join the 'adventure group' that he was putting together. Thus far it consisted of his brother Drexl, their friends Jerami and Arron, and Lixes himself. A small group, which meant they could use more members, but she was still kind of little for that yet.

"From the water? Oh! A Water Tribesman? That's fun!" Lixes had yet to really have any involvement with one of them before so meeting a girl who was even half water was fun in his mind. He'd definitely have to keep an eye out now, if her father was around then surely that meant other Water Tribe members were around too, right? Maybe he'd run into some himself sometime!

"I like your markings. I think they are pretty." Even if it was all that marked him as part Alk they seemed to stand out to her more than his crystals did. Of course his blonde hair was an eye catcher too.

Masika nodded her head when Lixes said water tribesman. "Yeah, that." Though she liked saying her father was of the water more. To her it sounded more interesting.

When Maha bumped into her she blinked and looked at her mother's familiar before she smiled at him. "Sorry, boy." A giggle came from her as she then brought her orange gaze back around to Lixes. "This is Maha and he likes to be petted." Masika motioned for Lixes to get closer so that her animal companion could get some attention from him.
