Outdoor playtime was one of Saerun's least favorite things. It meant being around a lot of people that were moving around all the time, plus this was when her caretakers were the most insistent that she go talk to the other freshlings. Didn't they realize she didn't want to? Still, she'd rather go do that than risk a call back to her parents... She wasn't sure how they would take a phone call from the school and didn't exactly want to find out.
On this particular play break, her usual haunt of the tree on the edge of the playground was occupied. How terrible. So, she was left without a place to "hide." She scanned the area, looking for the least occupied play structure before settling on one of the swing sets. For whatever reason, kids in her play group didn't like them. She thought they were fun, though...
She carefully made her way across the playground - head down, face hidden in her hair - until she finally reached the swing set. Once there she settled herself into one of them, and then slowly began to rock herself.. getting started was always so difficult... ugh... how did this work again...?

For little Husk, he had a bit of an opposite problem to his displeased schoolmate. Playtime was always a mixed bag of results, in what the little Fey would do, but it always left some sort of confusion or unease with those that would be in the line of interest.
Today he'd decided to busy himself, for the majority of the time, with staring at some of the other kids playing some means of pretending to be grown ups. They'd all chosen adult professions ranging from a teacher, to an explorer, and claimed one of the bouncy animal rides as their home--dedicated to be a farm. It was an interesting means of entertainment, that had the curious freshling watching for quite some time, as though it were a show, debating on whether it was truly intriguing enough to join into. Eventually, he did. His sudden arrival wasn't met well, though, as the other kids didn't seem to appreciate his unconventional take on the game. Apparently being an Insect King wasn't a thing, and many gave squeamish 'ewwwwws' as Husk tried to bring some of the crawlies into play that were found on the playground.
After he was shunned from the group, he simply turned and went to find something else to do, unassumingly unfazed. It was during his new search that he honed in on the lone dark figure on the swings. Staring for a short while, he started to walk on over, positioning himself right infront of the swing being used. Watching the attempt at actually moving the darn thing, his first reaction was to get even closer and grab the chains that supported the seat. Backing up a ways, he let go, to give an aid in the movement, "It's easier having someone else do it for you." he stated with a slight hum to his tone. "Your legs are too short to do it well on your own."

Honestly getting this to work was starting to get really, really frustrating for Sae. She'd been just about to give up when another kid came over - getting right in front of her. Embarrassed, she tried a little harder to get it going, though stopped as soon as they came within kicking range. "I--" She started to protest, though stopped as soon as she realized what they were doing...
Oh. Assistance. She blinked, carefully kicking her legs along with the motion of the swaying swing. "Shanksh... I guessh shey are." She shrugged a little, and finally snuck a glance up at who'd given the much-needed assistance... Huh. She'd seen the new Fey students from a distance, but never spoken to one before. He seemed pretty dark, too, like her. "What'sh your name?"

Naturally, he instantly picked up on the accent laced in her speech, making his antenna perked lightly with intrigue and surprise. Staring at her, he watched as she swung back and forth before him, just out of range of the momentum of the swing. And once she looked up at him, the coiled length of his little sensors straightened nearly completely with absolute interest.
Staring straight at her teeth, he crouched a little before giving a little brisk flutter to get just barely airborne, enough to boost him up to grip the swings chains. Holding them, his tiny feet placed on the sides of the swings, where a triangle opening was, enabling him to lean in VERY close to the geist, eyes wide and smile cut wide on his face, "Hey. Your teeth are so cool." he stated with awe in his tone... if his body language didn't already express it. There was hardly any space between their faces as he got a up close and personal look, only slightly pulling back his head to then peek at her ears.
Yes. She was now in his book of fascinating people. In delayed response, he idly replied to her question, "Husk." before zooming back in on her face, a single hand raising to gingerly touch one of her sharp teeth, "what's yours?"

Sae noticed the change in his antennae - were they like her tendrils? She hoped not - that usually meant piqued interest if hers got all big like that... But oh, it seemed she was right. Before she really knew what was going on, he was up in the air - sort of - just long enough to attach himself to her swing. She squeaked in alarm, grip tightening on the chains as she leaned back in the seat as far as she might dare - worried they might both topple off if she went too far.
But he was in her face! Literally! She blinked, eyes going wide as her slit pupils narrowed a little - trying to figure out what he was doing. "O--oh..." How was she supposed to respond to that? She'd never met anyone so willing to get up in her face over her teeth. Strange looks, yes. The occasional prying question, definitely... But so close as to literally touch them, no.
She jerked her head back a little, worried on one part that he might hurt himself, but also just... weirded out that he'd do such a thing. "Særún." She spoke carefully, trying not to mess up her name - ugh she wished she could just sign this out but... well... the current positioning would likely result in her falling off of the swing - likely with the boy - if she did that. "Um.... C--could you maybe not... touch my teeth pleashe..."

With no regard, as she leaned back he leaned forward to keep the close proximity he'd created. His head would tilt ever so faintly from side to side to get a look at those chompers from slightly altered angles. How cool. They felt like his teeth, which only added to his confirmation that yes these were just the same. Giving one a final light tap, his finger pad rested on it with her request voiced, staring back up at her eyes.
Oh her eyes... those were different too, weren't they? "Your eyes are like vespercats, too." his face peeled with an even wider smile, all lit up, eyes stretched very open, "You're so cool looking. I've never seen someone like you before. Are you a Nightmare or a Daydream?" he could very possibly be meeting another Nightmare that was unknown to him!
It was delayed, but his finger did eventually lower from her teeth, and he situated himself to ever so casually take a seat in her lap on the swing, refusing to give up the personal space he had so thoroughly invaded. He mouthed her name a few times, "Are others jealous of you?" the question was randomly blurted, as he gazed in awe at her, a hand boldly reaching out to gingerly hold an end portion of her ear, thumb and pointer finger smoothing the area.

Oh no. Ooooh no. They were going to fall over and she was going to get crushed. It felt like forever had passed, but he finally settled into her lap - which thankfully balanced them out even if it left her feeling... awkwardly close to this strange boy that was entirely too insistent on touching her face. She tilted her head to one side, leaning back a little as she attempted to put whatever small bit of distance she could between her and the fey boy.
Vespercat eyes... well, that wasn't a first. "I guessh shey are..." She shrugged a little, though narrowed said eyes at the question. Nightmare or Daydream? She'd never been asked that question before. "I'm a geisht. Sho I'm a Nightmare." She flickered light through her markings as if to prove her point. "Ish it hard to shee?" Her mouth formed a small frown around her teeth, mild annoyance turning into self-consciousness... was she so mutated she couldn't even be discerned as a member of her own race?
Her train of thought was brought to an abrupt halt by his next question. She blinked in confusion, eyes going wide for a moment. Jealous? "No, I don't shink sho... Moshtly shey jusht laugh or don't talk to me." She might as well be up front about it. Maybe they didn't have mutants in Above. "Why?"

Pausing his toying with ne of her finned ears, he slowly looked down to one of her arms, suddenly only then noticing the wiggly wisps that resided along her forearms. Oh yeah, so she was a geist. Briefly relinquishing his hold on the ear, he reached to wiggle his fingers along the little tendrils, "Forgot to look for these thingys. You had so many other things I'd never seen before. They're pretty cool too." he decided aloud in a little hum.
Somewhat distracted in fussing with the trademark geist trait, his antenna perked with the answer given to his latter question. Staring at her again, he began to giggle lightly, "Then they are jealous of you." he confirmed with a slow nod. That made sense. Letting her tendrils go, his little hand raised in the air, a finger pointing in a sort of matter-of-fact fashion, "lotsa kids are that way when they wish they had what you have. So they decide to act that way." absolutely tickled with amusement by this, he took the liberty to smooth her bangs aside to better look at her eyes, in a suddenly more perky mood, "I guess that I'll just have to be your friend, then. So they can be even more jealous that I get to hang around someone so cool and they don't." a small pat was given to the top of Sae's head, "anyone who isn't your friend isn't worth your time." was his conclusion, sweet little smile curling.

Oh, good, he was letting go of her ear... but only to mess with her tendrils. Instinctively they shrank a little, but only briefly until she figured out what he was doing. Just touching... He seemed to do a lot of touching. Was this normal for Fey?? "But... Shat'sh a shtupid way to act if you're jealoush." Again, she frowned, though a little deeper than before. If they were jealous why couldn't they do something else with their time?? Like, well, maybe not pick on her?
She closed her eyes as soon as he reached for her forehead, almost expecting him to try to touch them... but... relaxed slightly when it was just her bangs. cautiously she opened one eye a little to peer at him, and then slowly opened the other and blinked. "Uh... well..." Didn't she get a say in this?? That's how friendship worked, right? Well, it wasn't like she'd had a lot of friends in the past so.... "Okay, I guessh. We can be friendsh..." Well. There. She had a friend she could go home and tell her parents about.
"But if shey aren't worsh my time, how would I make more friendsh in the firsht plashe?"

Nodding in agreement, he gave a whimsical little sigh that was also somewhat musical, "People act funny when they're mad." he giggled, head bobbing back and forth happily as he toyed with the ends of her hair, just having a good old time learning via touch.
Gently twisting the long side pieces that framed her face, staring at the glowing dots there, he slid his eyes to meet her with the very well pointed out question. He was silent for a little while, leaning only a bit to idly glance over her shoulder to the other kids further off. Lips pursing, and a 'hmmmm~' rumbling from the little fey, Husk finally broke into his wide smile again, "Pick ones that are nice to you!" he concluded with a firm nod, "or ones that are interesting, like you. If they're boring, or mean, or dumb, then," his little hand did a shooing motion to finish his sentence.
That gave him an idea, though. "I can help you make friends, if you want more than just me." that would be an acceptable alternative, too.

Funny. She didn't particularly find it very funny. In fact she found it rather hurtful. But she wasn't about to argue it. This kid seemed pretty... set in his weird ways. She watched him toy with her hair, not really sure if she liked this very much, but for now since it wasn't her teeth she wasn't going to make a ruckus or fuss about it.. It would just be. Weird. Really weird.
She blinked, resisting the urge to avert her gaze once he made eye contact. People didn't look away from their friends, did they...? No, probably not. "Oh.." She supposed that was obvious. Of course she'd only pick the ones that were nice to her. She'd been doing that all along anyway! "Well I wash already only keeping nishe people around. And what do you mean by intereshting? Osher people wish mutationsh?" She quirked a brow, casting him a rather unamused look. If they were going to be friends, she didn't want it on the basis of her having been born in a cursed month.
"...I guessh, I don't make a lotta friendsh. Are shey ash touchy ash you are?" She narrowed her eyes, not really sure if she was up for that...

While he was toying and swirling around the soft hair, his eyes were wandering again, to those finned ears. He would brush at them every so often with the backs of his fingers, before just casually outright letting his hands wander to lightly touch the pointy ends. How interesting~
Husk's head would bobble lightly in a nod as Sae spoke, her words delayed in registering for him, not until she had fully completed. As such, he took some time in answering, pink eyes flashing back to level with hers, "Oh sure, or other people like me~"he chimed back cheerfully, "I'm quite interesting, even by looks, I'd say~" another giggle bubbled from him. Oh but... that gave him a thought.
Tilting his head with his inquiry, his eyes widened with great interest, "What do you consider to be interesting? I guess that sometimes people think different things are interesting. Like normal, bland things~" though he himself could never understand it. Ever so lightly, his fingers gripped the edges of her ears and ever so gingerly rubbed them with curiosity. "Hmmmm.... touchy as me? Well I'd hope so~ How else can you fully learn about something or someone~?" touch was a sense, after all! all the senses were useful in gaining information.
