Prehnite, was not the sort to go around snatching up star seeds. It wasn't that he absolutely never did it, there had been an instance, of his own free will...That didn't matter in this particular moment. What truly mattered was that stealing a star seed was addictive, invigorating, and often had irreversible consequences..like death..
Prehnite was not, often, someone who dealt in absolutes like death. He preferred to cultivate the idea of extended suffering, over a quick and painless demise. It was one of those things that made energy draining so appealing. One didn't have to kill their targets through the act alone; it was an option. In fact one could hunt the same prey, over, and over again. For days..or weeks...
So it had been, for this one poor soul. Prehnite had chosen this target in particular to execute his little experiment on. The man in question was completely deserving, in Prehnites eyes. Of everything. Except an end to his suffering.
Or at least he had been, until now.
A broken scream..insane panicked rambling...and then silence.
Prehnite panted to catch his breath where he stood over the man. Foot firmly planted on his neck, and star seed grasped tightly in his fist. The guy had actually given him a good chase for once. All the way from the middle of the city into an old construction site. Steel beams and half built concrete slabs. Surrounded by whole square blocks of dirt and old equipment.
A skeletal area of something that could have been great.
Prehnite stood there..reveling in the power he held collected in his hand. The power of life really. Surprised that the rather loud foot chase and the mans screams hadn't drawn more attention....a miracle really....Of course, most civilians avoided that sort of thing.

Erebus had been on patrol when he first felt the energy signature then heard the screaming. He had quickly changed course and went towards the screams and aura with out any thought. Unfortunately he got there too late to stop what was happening and could now only try to fix it. When he spotted Prehnite standing there with a starseed in hand and a body on the ground he growled under his breath and stopped a little ways from the scene. "I suggest you put that back before I make you." He said with a glare, remembering the Lt. from the tea shop.

Prehnite groaned, turning his gaze to the...very familiar page..that was interrupting his night. How, in the name of everything sane and holy, were these pages finding him? Was he being tracked? Maybe just to obvious with his...attempts...
"Do you start all of your conversations with demands Saturn? No, 'hi, how have you been'. Not even an introduction?" Prehnite smirked, gently toying with the star seed in hand. The idea of eating it briefly occurred...of quickly poofing it into Negaspace and ending this without a fight...
"I suppose manners aren't a part of Knight training. Allow me to teach you some. I am Prehnite, Lt. of the Negaverse." Prehnite gave a slight bow as he approached the growling night. "I have a bit of a moral dilemma. That you can help solve. This man behind me will surely die. Unless you save him." Prehnite, sounding mockly sympathetic as he spoke. "To save him of course you'll need to go through me. I'll give you the advantage in this one though." Prehnites grin grew, taking the precious star seed and throwing it to the Page of Saturn.
"So go on, save him. Know however, that in doing so. You will only succeed in prolonging his wretched, agonized existence." Prehnite growled, drawing his trowel "You're supposed to be the 'hero' though. I'm sure whatever choice you make will be the right one."
Prehnite charged the Page as he finished speaking, Snarling as he swung wildly.

Erebus almost rolled his eyes at the condescending attitude the agent took but instead just took the time to memorize the name to the face. He kept quiet through the Lt.s monologue only for his eyes to widen in surprise when the other literally threw the starseed at him! He found himself with only a split second to decide a course of action. Worry about the attack and let the starseed fall, possibly taking damage or even shattering, or worry about the starseed and leave himself open for the attack? It really was a no brainer in the end. He lunged for the starseed and managed to catch it while bringing his oar up to partially block the attack. He tucked the hand holding the starseed close to his body and locked a glare at Prehnite. "I'm Erebus, Page of Saturn and frankly you don't scare me garden boy." He said with a bit more confidence then he actually felt though it was true he wasn't scared of the Lt, instead he was afraid he wouldn't get the starseed back in time. While he had 'won' their last fight, it had been because the other had underestimated him and Aaru. He knew this time around he wouldn't make the same mistake. He kicked out at the Lt.s legs, hoping to get him on the ground.

Prehnite couldn't help but laugh, watching the page catch the starseed, and sadly, make the most obvious choice. Of course he would try to save the civilian. All the Pages he'd met so far seemed firmly cemented in the idea of helping people..serving what they presumed to be the side of 'good'. "You, don't have backup this time." Prehnite's face a scowl as his attack was partially blocked. Attempting to sidestep the kick, and stumbling slightly as it glanced across his shin, but he was willing to take the pain this time.
Especially if it allowed him to press his attack. That oar had to go, it was getting in his way of the man behind it. Prehnite focused on stabbing at his opponents arm; wishing he'd been granted a dagger instead of a trowel..
"Neither does he. What would you give him..Five minutes..Ten? Why do you people even care so much!" Prehnite wasn't about to shut up either. Anything to try and distract the page, to buy himself an opportunity to do some damage.

"I don't need backup to fight you." Erebus said as he twisted so Prehnite's attack only nicked his arm, enough to rip his shirt and draw a thin cut but not enough to make him drop his weapon. He swung his oar out to force the officer to back up, all the while the page started to slowly turn the fight so he would be closer to the civilian. "I would give him all the time he needs." He was quick to return back. "Because clearly you and yours don't care and someone has to do it! What even is your cause? Steal and kill every chance you get?" He remembered it had been easy enough to distract the Lt with words before but this time around he didn't have a partner to attack from behind.

Prehnite was forced to either step back, or take that damnable oar to the head. Feeling it whistle by inches in front of his face, growling at the Pages ability to keep him at bay. He was slowly beginning to realize that the Page wasn't going easily relinquish his oar.
"At least our work has purpose. One lost life stacked against billions, a little bit of energy to be re-purposed into something far better." How was it so difficult a concept? There were certainly lives in the world that held worth. Not every life held the same worth though! Honestly, some lives didn't even deserve the existence they were granted. It should have been viewed as a gift, not to be taken lightly and squandered..People who couldn't use it properly, obviously didn't deserve it..
Besides they didn't kill every chance they got...There'd be a lot more corpses about if that were the case...Not that he expected the page to know..
"You cant tell me that you care about every living thing that crawls. Hell, I'd give your average stray dog more value than a useless human being; like him." Prehnite hissed, gaze darting quickly between the moving page and the civilian.
Prehnite went for his fail-safe..Throwing his trowel hard at his opponent. Darting in behind the move to attempt to grab the Page, and drag him off balance.
He really needed to learn some other tactic besides brawling in the dirt...maybe take up boxing...kickboxing? Ugh..

Yes, it would be very heard to get Erebus to let go seeing how he was very attached to his weapon. "Purpose? And what purpose is that? How does this benfit anyone other then yourselves?" Erebus countered with a scowl. "Do you even know what your master plans on doing with the energy or are you just following along blindly?" "Oh I don't care about them personally. Not everyone anyway. However I do believe that everyone has the right to live!" He said but then cut himself off from saying any more as the Lt. threw his weapon at him. He ducked to avoid the trowel, getting a nick on his cheek for the trouble then used his crouched legs as leverage to jump towards the prone body when he saw the officer lung at him. He hoped that even if he got grabbed he could still slam the starseed inside the civilian so he could focus on the fight.

Prehnite had never really thought to question the plans..any of the plans..That wasn't his place after-all. He was a low level. Not an avid fighter, hardly the best thinker. Prehnite wasn't some mindless soldier either. He had his own goals, and plans. The Negaverse had proven to be a wonderful tool in his own personal advancement.
"Hardly mindless..but you do have a point. You could always join us and reap the same rewards!" Prehnite chuckled darkly, eyes widening as the quick b*****d ducked his trowel, his distraction.
"I don't share your beliefs!" s**t, he wasn't going to be fast enough. Cursing as he followed the Pages movement, only managing to barely snag him by the ankle, trying to dig his nails in and drag the page back. It wasn't enough though, the Page was too close to the civilian, he had the forward momentum. He could save the b*****d.

Erebus went down thanks to the grip on his ankle but even as he did he brought the hand holding the starseed down in an almost slam dunk motion so it went right back into the civilian. He hit the ground with a grunt then flipped onto his back to kick out with his free leg, a smirk now on his lips for at least managing to save the civilian. "Oh no, I have no plans on switching to the losing side." He taunted. Shiningamisgirl Fight will be a bit more give and take now, I just wanted him to be able to save the civi as he has already lost one civi to an officer in a battle <3

The way it went down was nearly comical..a bright miracle for the page. Prehnite was at the mercy of his own games design though. He maybe, shouldn't have tossed the starseed back to the Page. Even if it didn't factor greatly in his future plans. It still stung to have been unable to stop him.
Prehnite could see the civilian begin to breath almost normally again; and then the page kicking free. <********, b***h!" Prehnite threw his arm up in front of his face, feeling the kick land hard. Thankful that it hadn't been his nose instead. Loosing his grip on Erebus and rolling back up and away to his feet.
Prehnite tapped into his own dark energy reserves to re-summon his trowel. It was a one off motion that left him nearly breathless and panting, but that was why he ever bothered to throw the thing in the first place. He wouldn't get a second chance at it though. Next time he tossed it, he'd have to go pick the damn thing up himself.
"I hope your 'winning' team has the mortuary on speed dial; because I am putting that a*****e, in a grave!" Prehnite snarled, making to edge around Erebus and go after the Civilian one last time. Let the brave knight defend his precious vision of 'life is important' now. Natsuko-neko Lel, no worries! I just read that with Captain L. -headshake- Poor dead civilian. It wouldn't be fair to Erebus if everyone he tried to save died. Feel free to stop my boy <3, I love keeping him off of that pedestal he makes for himself in his head, and call an ambulance for that poor man in the end, he's gonna need it!

Erebus quickly got to his feet when he was free, standing between the thankfully now breathing civilian and the pissed off officer. The smirk was still on his face as he brought his oar up defensively and waited for the Lt's next move. Thanks to him being able to get the starseed back he was a bit more confident in in this fight and now all he had to do was protect the civilian while fighting off the officer which was easier said then done but it was better then running on a timer against the guys life. He really hadn't wanted to fail another civilian. He didn't have to wait long for movement though as Prehnite moved to go after the civilian once again. Erebus swung his oar like a baseball bat, aiming the flat side at the Lt., preferably his face if the other wasn't careful enough. "I hope your loosing team has insurance!" Shiningamisgirl Yep, poor civi *moment of silence for Luecite's last victim as a Captain* lol okay ouob

"Screw yo-eeep!" Eyes impossibly large, pained breath hissing out between his clenched teeth.
Prehnite had been so focused on getting around Erebus to the civilian. It wasn't that he hadn't seen the swing coming. So much as it was, that he hadn't thought the page would swing so hard. That maybe, he could use his trowel as something other than what it was made for, just this once!
He was wrong. Prehnite threw his arms up at the last possible second, bringing his forearms in front of his face to block the blow.
Prehnite, would swear on his death bed, that he had not in fact yelped like a little girl, but grunted..in pain...like the man he was. None of his hopeful wishing, could take away from the fact that he was now laid out on his a** in the dirt.
That hadn't been a warning shot, that had been a '******** off' shot, and he was feeling it. Feeling the chase it'd taken to hunt the civilian down, and the energy he'd expended in stealing that damn starseed in the first place, every other little bruise and scraped he'd picked up over the last...was it two weeks now?
What was it with these pages, and trying to bash, claw, stab his face in! Did he have a target tattoo there? "Ow..." Prehnite panted, trying to blink away the pain that was mostly emanating from his left wrist. That didn't feel good at all. Worse of all..the ******** civilian..twitched. Breathing and now twitching..officially alive..if not yet well.
"I hope..that someone feeds you the splinters of your oar someday, and you choke on them." Prehnite laughed breathlessly, unable to hide the wince as shoved himself back to his feet, bringing his trowel to bear defensively in his right hand. He wondered if he could somehow make a getaway out of this...Maybe if he started backing up slowly..

Erebus had felt his oar connect and heard the loud crack sound it made so while he was half keeping and eye on the officer, he was also double checking his weapon over for any damage. When he found none he moved it back into a defensive position as he once again made sure he was between the Lt and the civilian. He felt satisfaction that Prehnite had been knocked down and watched as he got to his feet. "Get out of here before I hit you again." He said and took one step forward while holding his oar threateningly. While he was clearly winning this fight, he would rather the other male gave up and ran away. That way he could focus on getting help for the civilian and the Lt. wouldn't have the chance to make a come back which Erebus was sure he could if allowed.

Prehnite begrudgingly accepted that he was loosing this one. The page was an annoyingly sturdy wall to his weakening force. Glaring daggers at the Erebus as he reluctantly took the offered exit. "Next time Erebus...I won't be the one on my a**." he huffed through grit teeth.
Prehnite backed away more quickly, giving himself some more distance before turning around completely and darting off, back into the ruins of the construction site, and the night. He'd have to get himself some training if he ever wanted to have a decent battle...Maybe he'd look up his captain again..Natsuko-neko annndd Finito! Beautifully done, very fun! I adore pages! Thanks for the Rp!
