”... and right as I moved the sparkling stone aside, it leapt from the pond – a long, silver-scaled finbeast!” Keionx gestured enthusiastically at the wigglers that surrounded her, watching her with varying levels of enthusiasm. ”Twas a massive creature, with fourteen rows of teeth like rusted iron traps, and eyes that blazed like emerald moonlight from between horned brows... It's fins bore a single, sharp claw each, and it smelled of mud and brine...” She slammed her fist into her palm for emphasis.

Keionx loved to tell stories, especially her own. Not that they were the only ones she had, but they were the most interesting to her, and also the easiest to amplify and exaggerate. With the mother grub, they had many wigglers entering the rebel village, raised by the rebels... the pheonix initiative... and these rebels were in need of stories and culture. And, Keionx felt, role models. Inspiration to great feats.

Something she hoped to provide.

”It snapped at me – twas it's shiny stone, you see – and twas a near miss, for my leg had been, but moments before, where it's jaws clamped shut. The splash of it's return to the water made crystalline water rain upon me... So I picked up the shining stone and challenged it, for I knew it would not be it's last jump...

Akkira had just arrived at this last part of the story, she had just came into the village not too long ago and heard the excited chatter of the children her age. "Challenge it, huh? that must have been some stone!" the young redblood interrupted as she came closer. "I guess since you're still alive, it must have chose it's fight pretty badly," Akkira leaned on her bokken with a smile. the wooden sword sunk a bit into the wet grass. "Unless of course, you ran away!"

There were probably children staring at her, most of them a little bit perturbed by the young redblood's sightless red eyes, others being irritated by her interruption of the exciting story. "Oh? am I interrupting, don't mind me, continue," she knew very well that she was interrupting the story. But, oh well, the older troll shouldn't have left herself open like that!

"It twas." Well, at least, it had been fairly shiny. Keionx squinted at the newcomer and her sightless eyes. Yes, thou art interrupting, and it is rude... Keionx wanted to tell her, but that wasn't her job - it was the child's lusus's job. Keionx's job was to inspire these rebel children to feats of greatness and to show the Right way to do things by example.

"And I did not run away." she said. Stars forbid if any of the children thought she had! Sometimes discretion was the better part of valor, and running away did not make one a coward. Indeed, it made one smart. But Keionx was not the sort of troll to run, not to save her own hide. Not when other hides were on the line.

Or glory, she supposed.

So continue she did.

"Indeed, it leapt out again, churning the water into froth with it's clawed fins. It struck my shoulder - but a scratch - and my blade did it's mighty work -" she mimed the slashing motions for the children, "Chop, chop - It's fin was mine. The water turned green with it's blood - green and silver in the moonlight - but it would not stop in it's attack." She looked at the children, "For losing it's claw had only made it angrier."

Akkira got on her knees to listen to the story, no way she was going. Honestly, she wasn't all that interested in the story itself. But she did sort of want to poke at the older troll a little bit, prod for maybe a reaction of any sort. "What did it do after that??" Akkira asked, Maybe once the story was finished she'd ask if Kei actually had evidence of her story on her. IF she did. She couldn't help but get wrapped up in the story herself.

She couldn't rightly imagine what the creature looked like, but the idea that Keinox could do all this was very impressive and she did honestly want to know more.... but she also wanted to play. It was a very tough decision for the young redblood to kneel still and just listen to the story the older troll had to offer.
