If there was one thing more inconvenient to the stallion than rain, it was snow. It was currently caked into his long mail and tail as they dragged along the ground. It was also collecting between the pads of his paws, which made him feel even more uncomfortable. He sighed deeply and just kept picturing his destination to keep his morale up. He had a few miles to go yet, but the end reward were the hot springs in which he could thaw out and get warm. He couldn't wait to get there, having come up empty on this particular hunting excursion. He was happy his mate was a vegetarian, though the carnivorous plant that was attached to her would be unhappy as his lack of findings. He shrugged anyway, secure in his knowledge the plant wouldn't become a threat for at least another day. Tomorrow he would do better. For now he enjoyed the fading light filtering through the bare branches of the increasingly sparse trees.

 He'd left his mate's side in search of food himself in the leanest of times. Though Hanyuu ate plants strictly and he could live off it.. his dies had mostly been that of meat growing up in the flock. He ate what ever the nannies had brought him and though the variety had been vast, he'd always eaten a diet in which meat was present in some way or another. He was happy knowing his father was safe, his mate warm, and his sister and cousin.. they had loved him well enough to not tell his former herd where he's fled to. The problem with snow was, that sadly it was every where lately and hid the slippery rocks beneath it. Lucky for him, his hind claws helped to sturdy his trek as he sought out a bird,rabbit or anything else he might eat.

He hadn't entirely given up the prospect of maybe seeing something along the way to catch and munch on, so he continued to scan for movement and listen for any sound. So far he hadn't seen or heard anything beyond the quiet of winter, which was a disappointment. He breathed out a sigh and shook out his hair, sending some clumps of snow flying, though most of it stayed tangled in his hair. He paused suddenly, completely frozen. He'd heard something. He listened, and heard it again - the sound of something large passing by. But where? His eyes scanned all around, and he thought he caught a flash of something blue before it disappeared behind a thick crop of trees. He crouched and began moving stealthily to get another look...

 Even a fish would satisfy his belly should he find one. Lucky for him he knew of such a location where fish were often abundant. It soured Hanyuu's stomach less when he ate fish any ways. Musing to himself, he still looked for maybe a fox or rabbit to catch up and eat. As he drew closer to the stream, he could hear the trickle still. Lucky for he, it had not yet frozen over. The snow still crunched under his hoof falls as he walked, unknowing of what now stalked him.

As he neared he began to hear the telltale noises more clearly. It was very obviously a large creature, and he began to have misgivings about stalking it. While he was an adept hunter in most respects, he was ill equipped to take on anything too large, particularly since larger things tended to fight back. Still, he figured he needed to figure out whether this was a potential threat or - WOOPS!
He suddenly cracked through the ice over a small pool he had no idea was there. He crashed loudly into the water, screaming out in surprise and with the shock of the cold. He floundered, splashing in a frenzy as he tried to get out.

His mind was torn from his thought by the sudden sound of a distant shriek. Jerking his head in the direction of which it had come, he started off in a haste. His mind was whirling. Who could have made the sound? Were it possibly one of his family? What if it were Hanyuu? Though she likely wouldn't have followed.. but if she had tried? He picked up speed, his clawed feet digging in to give him greater traction.

He managed to claw his way out of the pool, feeling stupid and extremely cold. The hot springs felt like they were a million miles away now, for all the good they're doing him. How could he have been so careless? He shook off violently, only dimly noting that the snow that had been caked in his hair was now washed away. What luck. He began shivering and trying to figure out what he was going to do now. He heard the crashing sounds of something large running his way and he had no idea what he could do about it except take a defensive stance and hope for the best.

He'd crashed through gracelessly no doubt scaring off any game that might have been about. It was once he reached the pond that he came skidding to a halt, claws gigging furrows in the ground as he did. He'd looked panic stricken, eyes wide and ears forward the plumed that mingled with his mane fanned upright in his haste. Wide yellow eyes peered at the stallion in befuddlement as he tried to collect thoughts and assess the situation before him now.

He wasn't entirely prepared for the wild-eyed creature that popped out of the woods facing him, skidding to a halt in a spectacular spray of snow and dirt. Asli blinked at him in confusion, muscles tight both from the cold and anticipation of attack. The soquili before him had eyes that were impossible to read, his intention hidden as the two faced off. After a moment though it seemed like the stranger wasn't going to charge him and with the adrenaline wearing off he was feeling colder, still dripping water. "Er, Do you know a good way to get warm?" He flashed a smile, teeth chattering.

Yellow orbs continued to regard the other stallion as fear turned to warning. The creature before him was pawed and though didn't seem to be a thread, could be. As he watched the stallion carefully, his ears flicked as the other spoke. Perhaps he wasn't going to attack after all. It seemed this had been the one to crash through into the pond any ways. Giving a quick glance to the area and the hole in the pond, he looked back once more to the stallion and gave a brief nod. There was a small hold up he'd used in times of a snow storm when he needed it and would be cut off from getting back home to his mate. "This way." He nodded with his head indicating the way he'd come from.

Asli still wasn't sure if he should trust this stallion, but his choices were limited. He hoped there was a way to perhaps get a fire started wherever they were going, but even just getting out of the open air and wind would be an improvement. He kept his distance behind the clawed stallion, letting him lead the way to what was hopefully salvation. Fieurce would simply kill him if he didn't return to her! "So where are we going.... er I didn't get your name? I'm Asli."

He walked on in silence a moment before he looked back at the pawed stallion. "There's a small nook in the rocks by a stream up this way. Should still have dry grass in the bottom of it to help get you warm..." He pondered the thought of it all. Did this stallion think he was luring him in to his doom? Lucky him he wasn't a member of his mother's herd anymore nor female.. Likely then the poor stallion would be in trouble.. A captured pet likely. He mused on the thought slightly as he walked on. "I'm Tharsirion." He stated as he continued to walk.

He shook off his coat again, hoping to dry off a little more. He was lucky it wasn't a much harsher winter than it was. He'd likely be ok with minimal damage, though with the sun sinking fast he wouldn't make it home until the following day. He'd gone for days on hunting trips before, so his mate shouldn't worry too much. Still... he was sad he wouldn't be snuggled up with her tonight. "I hope it's not too far. Are you good at building fires, Tharsirion? Can I call you Thar?"

"Not too far really..." He continued to trudge on, picking up his pace with the setting sun. Better to be in before dark than to be stumbling around in the cold night. "I've built few..... though we could attempt if there's some dry wood... perhaps we should gather some of this bark... though I dare say.. my hooves pose a slight issue.. are those paws capable? His hind claws dug into the ground slightly as he paused to strip some of the papery bark off a tree before continuing on.

He couldn't help scoffing at the question. Asli had a fair amount of pride and liked to rise to any challenge. In answer to Thar's question he simply sliced off a sizable chunk of bark with a satisfied grin. "I think we'll be ok as far as things to burn haha. And I can help with the fire." He hoped he could, anyway. He was still shivering quite a bit. It wasn't as bad as he initially feared when he fell in, though so that was something. He still wished he could be in the hot springs or better yet, snuggled up with his mate for warmth. Ah well. "So you have a lot of little hiding spots, huh? You don't have a place to live more permanently?"
