What's this? LP and Iris' babies Niflhel and Polaris are tying the knot! And anyone on the side of order is welcome to join this ORP to celebrate and enjoy a night of safety and relaxation. Meet some new people, dance, or just have a free meal!
The important details * ICly this event takes place Jan 1st 2016 from 6pm until the early hours of the morning. * OOCly this rp begins now and will remain open as long as people want to play here. * This ORP will take place in the Deep Space forum as it takes place on Polaris' star. Your character will receive a ride there but can leave on their own at any time. * While the wedding transcript is posted below the ORP will mostly consist of the reception. So whether you want to actually talk to the couple, or just want to come and enjoy food, a safe/uncrashable party, and chat with friends or make new ones it's all good. * Your character does not actually have to KNOW Polaris, Niflhel, or Snowball to attend. Snowball blasted a message from headquarters so you are free to assume you got the invite via phone, ring, or word of mouth. The more the merrier! This is literally open to every Order senshi, knight, and cat that wants to attend.
Extra info * I'm super serious about coats. The reception hall has fireplaces going but if your character decides to explore at all Polaris is a very cold star. Lots of snow and wind. (A few coats and cloaks will be hanging in the church and reception hall in case your character comes unprepared). * You will be permitted to do some mild wandering on Polaris if you choose. However please do not travel any further than that (unless of course you're a Polaris knight then feel free to go and/or escort people anywhere you like). * You may not wreck the place, steal stuff, or start drunken brawls or other very disruptive fights. You will be escorted home by a VERY pissed off bride.

So tell me about this place
Polaris in general
Polaris is a very large star with many cities and places stretching out across it's surface. Guests will arrive in the main city and must stay there however (unless personally escorted elsewhere by a Polarian knight).
The city is large and mostly metallic, stretching high into the night sky. This particular city is at the cultural center of the star so the decor here is more fancy and showy than other cities. Plant life is minimal (dead or alive) but some survives in spite of the snow. The areas in which the wedding and reception are taking place have been cleaned and restored in parts but wandering just a little further out buildings show the wear or war and time.
Tonight tiny snowflakes fall slowly, but constantly, despite the seemingly clear sky. The night sky is full of stars and a shimmering aurora borealis. The ground (and everything else) is covered in a few inches of snow. Temperature wise it's probably right around 30 degrees F.
From the city a large mountain range (and tall metal structures) is visible to the north and a seemingly endless forest to the east. More info if desired
Church
The church is large and ancient with tall ceilings and many pews. It is not heated or lit other than the flicker of dozens of led candles that line the aisle. Despite being a church the decor doesn't seem to depict any particular religion.
A small collection of cloaks and coats hang near the door incase a guest needs to borrow one for the night.
Gardens
In the center courtyard is the remains of a large garden (imagine a small to average size park). While it used to flourish with beautiful flowers only the tiniest sprigs of plants and flowers poke through the snow now. Nonetheless there are some small flowers and lovely stone and metal architerctural pieces and old fountains that can be looked at and plenty of benches if people want to spend time outside under the stars and borealis.
Pathways and streets
The pathways around the city are wide and lined with tall street lights (though none are currently working). Beneath the layer of snow the walkways are made of a smooth stone. Occasional benches or garbage receptacles dot the pathways when away from buildings. The street lights, benches, and trash cans are all made of metal with intricate designs.
Nearby houses
The city is full of buildings all tucked pretty close to each other. With exception to the 'gardens' there is very little 'green' space within the city limits. The buildings vary in size based on their function. The average home is two stories tall whereas some of the work buildings stretch high into the sky. The 3 or 4 buildings (all homes) nearest to the dining hall have been tidied up a little but not decorated or overly renovated like the dining hall. Exploring them one would find the signs of single family dwellings. All the other buildings (with exception to a large observatory nearby) remain untouched and show the signs of war and time.
The decor in the houses is a mixture of extravagance and utilitarian. Fireplaces, tall ceilings, and rooms with functions (wash rooms, kitchens, studies). Most homes feature large libraries or working areas with ancient notebooks. Faded paintings of past homeowners remain hanging on the walls.
* Note - The people that lived in this city were the richer class of the star and tended to scholars and social anthropologists. If you want to see evidence of this feel free. You may even find some sort of writing that mentions the name of your homeworld if you like! They liked to peep on all the other worlds and judge study them.
There is a large observatory near by with star charts and a huge telescope. It's currently pointed at Earth but Polaris won't be too upset if you want to play with it. Just don't break it!! ;3
Reception hall
The reception is being held in a gigantic rectangular reception/dining hall. Three fireplaces line each of the longest walls filling the room with heat and light. A ridiculously long table stretches through the center of the room for people to sit and gather or eat if they choose. A few small circular tables are also scattered around offering more intimate seating for those that prefer it. The tables have center pieces that look like frost covered trees with small lights, crystals, and snowflakes dangling from the branches. Pine sprigs and elegant ribbons decorate the wall giving off a winter theme.
Near the front entrance a large section of the room has been left bare for those that want to dance. A simple set of speakers and laptop provide the music. At the very back of the room another large door leads into the kitchen. Stationed near the kitchen door is the bridal table where the bride and groom are relaxing between walking around and socializing.
Scattered throughout the room and along the walls are food stations of various sorts. Most of the food provided is grab and go, but plates have been provided for those that prefer to sit down and eat. Some of the stations include:
To the left of the bride and groom table is a large and elaborate wedding cake. Each tier has a different flavor so feel free to say whatever flavor you like.
To the right of the bridal table is a large and elaborate fondue station. On the right side of the table is a tall cheese fountain and a few smaller pots of dippable cheeses surrounded in savory choices such as meats, vegetables, and breads. The left side of the table has a tall chocolate fountain and smaller pots of white chocolate and caramel surrounded in fruits, cookies, pretzels, and other sweet dippables.
One station hosts a variety of traditional wedding hor devours including options such as: stuffed mushrooms, swedish meatballs, garlic glazed shrimp cocktail, miniature quiches, Vegetable Empanadas with Avocado Salsa, bacon wrapped dates, caprese salad (in savory waffle cones), and chips with dips or humus.
One table stands a little more decorated than the others, with small hearts dangling from the table skirt and a small but pretty heart shaped ice sculpture and a small delicately scrolled sign that reads "Gifts from our beloved friends." This table holds foods brought and prepared by guests. If you'd like your character to bring something please let me know and I'll add it here Delphi - A traditional and hearty Russian stew along with a few other lighter Russian dishes.
A make your own Smore's bar with multiple types of chocolate and flavored marshmallows.
Gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and creamy tomato basil soup
A french fry and build your own slider station offers both beef and veggie burger options along with lots of potential toppings.
Alongside the traditional offerings of water, soda, and a small collection of champagne, wine, and beer, is a do it yourself hot chocolate bar providing a warm drink option with lots of extras.
There is a place, near the entrance, for people to hang jackets or pieces of their uniforms if wanted and also some extra cloaks and coats for those who wish to roam around outside. Alongside this 'coat check' is a table for anyone who brought and wants to drop off gifts.
If your character wants to do some exploring and you have any specific questions feel free to pm Iris_virus!
The church was cold and dimly lit as people settled into the pews, candles casting flickering shadows up towards the tall ceilings never quite reaching the peaks of the elaborate ceilings. The only natural lighting that of the stars and borealis lights flooding through a single large window behind the pulpit in which the snow white colored Guardian stood waiting. The ancient church was beautiful on it's own so they hadn't decorated it much - some led candles and various sprigs of evergreen lined the aisle.
There wasn't much time for people to wait or get bored. No long and drawn out musical accompaniments or elaborate streams of bridesmaids and best men. All that had been done in the other wedding, the one that celebrated the joining of Aurora and Azzo. They were technically already married, man and wife on Earth for a little over 12 hours. But this was different in a way. Bonding them not only to each other personally but to everything else. Polaris to Niflhel and vice versa. To a love that had transcended time and lives. A beautiful resolution to a love that had once been denied.
As the doors of the church opened, pulling inward a soft swirl of cold air and snowflakes, the couple appeared arm in arm. A princess and knight in full regalia. Around her shoulders, and concealing her carefully tucked wings, a traditional Polarian wedding cloak, white, trimmed in fur and crystals trailed behind her. A few extra crystals and flowers were tucked into her hair and both the bride and groom had a few small accessories of the other's home world attached here or there to their uniforms.
They didn't linger, already at the pulpit by the time the old doors had swung themselves closed once more and their gaze turned from each other towards the Guardian who stood above them.
The Guardian, Snowball, looked particularly regal today himself, his usually lovely robes decorated with a few additional bits of ancient jewelry he'd found in his room. Though silent, and attempting to look the part of serious and serene, the twitch of his ears and rhythmic sway of his fluffy white tail behind him told tale of another emotion. Nervousness? Excitement? Perhaps just a desire for this all to finally be done with? Even Snowball was likely not sure the exact cause of his emotions as he finally cleared his throat to begin the ceremony.
He'd never married anyone before, not in the this life or the past (though he may very well have looked up a few speech online prior to the evening). He didn't have the legal power nor the training for this sort of thing but it didn't really matter. His role as companion, guide, and adviser was one he'd spent two lifetimes cultivating with Polaris - and there was no one else that made more sense to be the one welcoming her into the next stage of life.
"We're gathered here today to celebrate the joining of two souls."
"It's often said that marriage is the joining of two hearts, but Nilfhel and Polaris' hearts have been intertwined for both years and lifetimes."
"In the past the joining of these two was forbidden. It was thought, by those in charge, that a connection between two such as them would be a liability and a draw on the attention and abilities of each to perform their duties."
"Love, however, is not a liability or burden."
"Perhaps it's easier to see now, when we all live together on Earth instead of scattered all over the galaxy, stuck in our own personal lives and homeworlds. But as upholders of Order we share so much even despite our differences. We are all children of the same universe."
"Instead of worrying that Polaris' attention would have been drawn away from her home and duties they should have realized that they were simply gaining another knight, and Saturn another senshi."
"Polaris, princess of magnetism and the north star. Niflhel, knight of Saturn. Do you swear to love each other? To join each other and stand side by side in your missions and destiny? To bolster each other's weaknesses with your strengths? To care for Polaris, Saturn, Earth, and this whole universe together?"
He paused a moment for their acceptance before continuing on with a flourish.
"Then I pronounce you man and wife. May your joining bless not only yourselves but those around you too."
"So you need to do that PDA thing." He joked lightly, leaning forward to smirk just a little at the eyeroll that the groom gave him and the slightly embarrassed giggle that escaped the bride.
Vows given, and sweet delicate kiss placed, the bride finally turned her attention outwards to those in the pews, motioning towards the door. "Thank you all so much for joining us on our special day and coming to celebrate. I can't even begin to express my gratitude, but please follow us to the banquet hall. It's a little warmer there, I promise." She laughed a little bit before leaning against the arm of a her husband with a small smile.
Arm and arm again Niflhel led Polaris, and the group, through the large front doors of the church once more and down the glistening snow covered streets. The trip wasn't long, passing only two large buildings before they reached another that stood out from all the others around it due to the light spilling from the windows. As the doors opened the light was joined with a billowing of warm air.
It was hard to detect the age of the building they entered, so much care taken to fixing and preparing it for the event that it was hard to believe it had set unused for over a century. Six large fireplaces lined the walls, three on each side radiating heat and bright light throughout the huge room. The room itself had been decorated in a wintery theme, the many crystals sparkling and throwing back the reflection of the fires.
The soft hum of small generators (one in the kitchen and one near the front of the room) was hidden beneath the soft sound of music and people as they began to gather.
Pausing slightly, as if to survey the room once more to make sure everything was 'right' Polaris turned once more, offering a warm greeting before letting herself be led off to the bridal table for a few well deserved moments of rest and sitting. "Please make yourselves comfortable and help yourself. We'll be cutting the cake shortly but all the other food is ready and waiting."
"If you need anything at all do not hesitate to ask."

The ceremony was lovely. Hyperborea had never been to a wedding before so she was really excited when she got the invitation to go to this one. She had only meet the princess of magnetism once before but she was so nice that Hyperborea was happy to go and see her special day, plus she really wanted to see Polaris' home world.
After the ceremony Hyperborea made her way through the crowd clutching two presents to her chest. The larger of the two presents was one for both Polaris and Niflhel, it was twin crystal candle holders made in the shape of deer that she had found in the treasure vault of her wonder. According to her ancestor that was a common wedding gift among the Hyperboreans, she hoped the newly weds would appreciate it. Her second gift was just for the blushing bride herself, it was a special necklace she had found in Hyperborea. It was a magical crystal necklace that glowed and had a slight warmth to, it according to her ancestor these used to be given out to special dignitaries visiting Hyperborea.
"Um Congratulations to the both of you, that was a beautiful ceremony." She said to the knight and princess once she had found their table through the crowd. "You look radiant today Polaris. I hope you both have a happy life together." She said offering the presents out too them.
It had already been a very long day for the princess of magnetism. Between the craziness of the first wedding (almost entirely due to the liveliness of their family members), the long flight home from Alaska, and attempting to get the food ready to go she should have been running on fumes. But thanks to naps, the help of some wonderful friends, and sheer adreneline Polaris was still running strong. Especially now that she was taking a moment to sit.
The young Cosmos knight was familiar as she approached, and though it took her a second to search through her memory for the name, she had it by the time Hyperborea had finished speaking.
"You're so sweet Hyperborea, these are absolutely beautiful." Polaris gushed as she accepted the gifts, admiring them for a long moment before her eyes returned to the gift giver. "Thank you so much for coming. It means a lot that you took a day off of your duties. I hope you have some fun. And lots of food. Please help yourself, we probably prepared way too much."

Bimini did not know the bride. And though he thought he recalled the name of the knight, had they met years ago as KoD members?, the actually ceremony wasn't what he'd attended for. He was most definitely attending for free food.
Not that the ceremony was bad, it was pretty quick and to the point, and the church had looked like something cool out of a videogame. The trip from the church to the reception hall however... the barefoot knight could live without making again. In fact, he'd take his tiny wonder anyday over the massive snow covered star.
The greeting of warmth, light, and food was welcome and while many of the guests seperated to go see the couple, remove layers, or hunt down friends Bimini made a beeline for the food, grabbing a plate and making his rounds to fill it like a buffet. It wasn't until his plate was full, and heaping over, munching on a few fries that his attention turned outwards for companionship.
Of course she was there, why wouldn't she be? Polaris was getting married and she had to be there! Not only had Delphi come but she had turned up early, taking the platform before the wedding even started. She had been at her wonder with hot food, since she had heat there and could keep things warm. She had done a quick trip about one of the libraries in order to do a bit of cleaning before she had met with Polaris to help with things, offering what ever last minute help the other might need. This was a day for Polaris and her husband but also for the star itself. It was not only seeing some life but a ritual, or ceremony, of sorts and how long had that been? how long since something like this had taken place of on the star? It was a proud moment for Delphi as she had helped in preparing for things, between making food back home to bring here to helping with the last minute things. She was happy, and proud, to watch the wedding, it was lovely.
Delphi wasn't the sort to get married, she already knew this, she wasn't even sure she was the sort to date anyone. But she was happy to see this and happy for the reception and to have a seat fairly close, at a smaller table, to her princess. She didn't have to socialize any more than she wanted to and could do as she wanted, as far as exploring the star.
While her uniform was nice and warm she had brought a cloak for herself as well, no telling if she might start to get cold as time went on. Looking up to the table where her princess and her husband sat she watched a Cosmos knight approach with gifts for the couple. Watching, and observing, she had already dropped her own gifts on the table for them. She had gotten two stemless champagne flutes for the couple but also, knowing Polaris liked to bake and cook, a set of chef knives. But also, since they would likely have friends over, a set of six wine glasses so they had a nice set for themselves and friends or family. She thought it would be nice to start a life together with such things in ones kitchen.
Pushing her seat back she stood slowly and made her way to the happy couple and gave them both a smile. "It is a lovely wedding, congratulations to you both." She was glad to see this, to see some life and social things taking place on the star and the work which had gone into things was amazing.
"The ceremony was lovely."

After she had saved him he had to attend her wedding, it wasn't something he'd go and miss, so when word had gotten to him about it he had decided he would go. The information of where, how to get there, and attire had helped greatly as he'd had to order, for fast two day delivery, a cloak that he could wear as his uniform was not suited for the cold at all. He'd gotten a nice envelope and had put money into it for the couple, as was proper in his former home country.
Getting up there had been interesting, using a platform, but it wasn't different than going to his own wonder really. Disorienting at first, nothing too odd really, but the cold which slammed into him had him clutching the heavy fabric about himself to keep warm, and keep the cold and wind out.
The wedding itself was lovely, he was not new to weddings, but this one was very nice. Different from any he'd been to previously, this one was more elegant and just..nicer over all. The reception was also new to him, at least in part. It wasn't what he was used to but he was alright with that. He'd left the envelope with other gifts before finding a seat for himself away from others. He wanted to observe and learn, he wanted to see people and learn faces and uniforms and just take a little time being the outsider still. The food smelled good and soon enough tempted him to grab a plate and load it up with finger foods that he could take back to his table to eat.
"Thank you Delphi. We couldn't have done it without all your help over the past month." She smiled, genuinely grateful. Between helping to clean up, decorate, and cook (along with all the work she'd done at her own wonder!) Delphi had practically been like the maid of honor. She'd actually be receiving a 'maid of honor'esque gift once Polaris returned to Destiny City after her honeymoon. Her and Europa.
Polaris was in no hurry to rush the Cosmos knight off, in fact when Delphi arrived, her hand motioned between the two, making introductions in case the two didn't know each other. "Delphi, have you met Hyperborea?"
"I think you two might have a little in common." She mused, recalling how much Hyperborea had talked about spending time at her wonder, something she knew Delphi was quite fond of too.

Hyperborea noticed Polaris knight as she walked over to them. The woman was really pretty, her uniform looked good on her. And it looked warm, which Hyperborea was a little jealous of on this cold star. When the girl began speaking to Polaris Hyperborea was about to leave not wanting to intrude on their conversation, but then she was introduced to the other knight.
"I don't believe we've meet, no. It's a pleasure, Delphi of Polaris." She said with a friendly smile offering her hand to shake. She was happy to have a name to put to her face.
She had taken, rather quickly and perhaps obsessively, to cleaning her wonder and seeing it restored as much as she was capable of. It was for several reasons but she knew it was also something which made her Princess happy and to see Polaris so happy, and bouncing, over such things made Delphi proud and happy as well. She wasn't typically like this, she did live up to her name most often, but Polaris' happiness was rather infectious and thus she wanted to see her happy when she could.
"It was worth it - all of it." She had heat and water at her wonder now, her hard work has paid off and she was proud of the achievement. It was something to be very proud of, after how long of no heat and no water her wonder now had both. How many others had gotten such a thing in return for their hard work and effort? She honestly wasn't sure but she doubted many. It was a warming thought really.
"I wanted to help, this is big thing for yourself, your husband, and for this star as a whole. It's been how long since a social event, much less a ceremony of any sort, has taken place. It's something that should be as big as we can make it and celebrated as it is." She said before shaking her head at the question posed to her.
"No, I've not. I know very few knights actually." She answered before turning her gave to the white haired knight of Cosmos. "It is nice to meet you Hyperborea. As Polaris has said - I'm Delphi." Shaking the offered hand with her own gloved one. "Oh? What might we have in common?" She asked smiling at Polaris, though also curious. Her eyes moved than back to the Cosmos knight. "I do hope you're keeping warm." Her uniform was certainly not fit for this star. It was a sudden offer, something which she normally would not do, but she did. "If you become too cold let me know. My wonder has regained it's heating systems and it is quite warm there." Which she didn't think would harm the books there, she didn't think her own wonder would seek to ruin part of itself.

They hadn't been kidding when they said Polaris was cold and Lacrimosa had found she'd been glad she'd listened to the warning that came with the invitation to her phone. She hadn't any idea homeworlds were a thing, nor that Polaris had awakened as a Princess, but she took it all in stride with a resolve to find out as much as possible. Either while she was there or later after the wedding.
Seated among many in the pews of the church, Lacrimosa had bundled her father's coat closer to her just as the ceremony had begun. It was short but adorably sweet and by the end of it her heart was going out to them in joy. To think that it was a joining of souls from the past! The romantic in her could have wept at the idea.
(And it all only served to heighten her curiosity about her homeworld, how to get to it and what she would find. She was really going to need to talk to some one about this.)
The building used as a reception hall was gorgeous and warmer as the princess had promised, causing her to shed her jacket for now and letting it rest on the back of the chair she had deemed her own. With the promise of food, and a large hall to explore, the senshi of cherry blossoms left her chair to take everything in.
And there was certainly a lot to take in.
Drink in hand, food was looked over but nothing taken yet. She just wasn't hungry at the moment and chalked it up to nerves. She'd met Polaris once, maybe twice that she could remember, and yet now she was attending her wedding years later. Would she even remember her? Her wondering led her to table meant for gifts from friends, and she wished she'd known the pair more so she might have been able to get them something. There was a pause at a picture on the table, a gloved hand moving to lift it up to better see it.
Aurora and Azzo.
Nearling dropping the frame in surprise, Lacrimosa quickly put it down and looked over to the married pair. Though they looked so much older (ah the passage of time~) she knew them anywhere and found herself surprised. She hadn't known they had started dating, guess that was what she got for being so wrapped up in Ignacio back then, but in all honesty she was happy for them. Excited even!
Even way back then she'd seen what a cute couple they made, even if young and stupid her had been jealous of the idea at the time. Now she really wished she'd had a gift for them. She'll have to get something for them later.
As of right now, though, perhaps it was time to go and greet the pair and offer her well wishes. She made to near the table the bride and groom were at and put herself a little distance away since others were still near by. She could wait until they were finished.
Her gaze went from one to the other as they said their hellos, filing away the information that Delphi didn't know very many knights yet. Something for a good princess to try and remedy!
"I recall Hyperborea telling me a lot about her wonder when we met. I figured you two might have fun swapping stories since you've both spent a good amount of time at them." Or perhaps even visits considering Delphi was already offering.

Niflhel was sitting at the table doing his best not to look tired after all their running. He was sipping on a small glass of champagne trying to figure out what the best would be to get him some energy back. He was listening to the girls talk sitting quietly with his eyes closed, unless his attention was demanded.
He had plans to sweet Polaris off to dance at some point. Snowball was bouncing around the place being the cat that introduced himself, thanked everyone for coming. Thank goodness that the cat had more than enough energy.
Niflhel stretched a little gazing over to Hyper and Delphi. His eyes also grazed over Lacrimosa not far away from them either. He turned to Polaris and leaned over to whisper in her ear, "Not to interrupt or rush, but I think we also have a senshi that wants to talk, as well. Could always invite her in."
Sedna had been vibrating with more excitement than usual. There were so many big events happening all in the span of a day. Her first space travel ever, first and foremost, and while it wasn't to her own planet, like it probably should have been, it was somewhere cool, quite literally. Second, it was for the wedding of Polaris, who she totally hero-worshiped, and her Knight, and as a wedding, it was like, the ultimate high of shipper highs. She was having shipping feels so hard (kept muttering under her breath during the ceremony how hard she shipped them, and how cute they were, and how she couldn't contain her feels). Then third----was that she got to spend this time with Ser---Beringia. Seringia. Bergei. Brrringia.
Hee hee.
Upon being ushered to the reception, the senshi of Ships was currently holding onto Beringia's sleeve---not as a means of keeping him around, but actually more as a means of keeping herself grounded. "Wasn't that amazing!?" She prattled to the page about how wonderful the ceremony was. "Polaris is such a beautiful place!" She couldn't help but gush at the beauty of it. It was also kind of silly, but she had this thought that she'd get lost on Polaris if she wasn't holding onto him somehow. She needed to be chaperoned.
She also had been totally about to go up to Polaris and her knight and congratulate them and gush, of course, but she had gotten side tracked by the sight of her first Order friend, making off with a plate of food. She paused, still clutching Beringia's sleeve, and called out to the Cosmos knight. "Bimini!" She cried out, and waved with her free hand, totally forgetting that she hadn't told him yet she had become powered.
