Reed needed...something...He was still sore from the last few nights outings. Drained despite the fact that he'd been the one doing said draining. He hadn't really seen much of the daylight world, and was just now realizing it. Not that there was enough daylight out for his liking. It was overcast, not snowing, or raining at least..Not freezing cold...Even if it likely would be later on that evening.
Good for the plants, maybe good enough for a walk? No, screw walking. Reed left his apartment, and hopped a bus to the nearest park. The good ones, the ones kept by the city, with all sorts of little botanical prettiness, and fancy floral gardens. Those weren't usually too far from local campuses. Reed remembered how nice it'd been to be able to leave campus and just go enjoy some quiet study out in nature...
When Reed got to the park however, he was shocked to see that they were already busy replanting things. Removing winter dead shrubs, and frost killed arrangements. Planting of all things..Pre-potted Daffodils..It was enough to get a chuckle out of him, and more importantly, get him moving further into the park; just to see what else the city would be wasting tax money on changing.

It wasn't uncommon for him to go venturing out once school was over, rather than returning home. In fact, stopping by some sort of arcade, art store, or park was practically a ritual done every day for little Vi. He'd taken the liberty to go to the more fancier parks than the ones he typically visited. It'd been awhile, and there were always a few more uncommon flora there to behold! plus it wasn't typically filled with schoolmates enjoying one anothers company, something so dearly longed for...
No at the more diligently tended to parks there was more of a variety in who would attend. Couples, friends, even just those who wanted to take a stroll through it themselves. Having already arrived earlier, he had passed the reworking that was going on in the immediate front of the garden, retreating to where the vegetation had yet to be disturbed. Some were nipped by the frosts that'd come and gone, while others remained resilient. Colours were dulled on a few species petals, withered and crippled, making him give pause to tenderly touch the damaged spots. Poor things. While they would revive in the coming Spring, it was still a shame to see them in such a state.
He got comfortable by one of the displays that was lush with greenery and flowers alike, encased by a small wall of grey bricks that kept the soil protected and in place. Sitting on the edge, he combed through some of the lambs ear, and pansies that were there, enjoying their soft texture on his finger tips. It was comforting, and lulling almost, making a soft smile curl on his lips.

Reed admired the park as he walked. Finding that the rest of the park was possibly better set up than he'd given it credit for. There were perennials, and more hardy plants present. Plants that were there for more than just show, and appeared to help improve the health and beauty of the park.
Pausing for a moment when he noticed a young blond crouched by one of the lush gardens. He reminded himself that he should look into setting up something better on his terrace..He hadnt made use of it yet like had at his old place. The only plants he had right now were a few succulents and a potted palm.
"It's interesting isn't it. How some plants are more winter hardy than others...and how some people would choose a temporary beauty over that hardiness." Reed smiled as he approached. It was nice seeing someone else appreciate nature.

So absorbed in his fawning over the lovely little vegetation, his head lifted perhaps faster than normal when a voice broke the calm silence of the mute plants. His eyes were met with another human when his gaze rose, making his smile naturally fall into place. Not many were out and about in this chilly weather, but it was nice to see that some weren't put off by the nippy winds.
"They really are remarkable. And all their little friends are just asleep around them." he let his hand fall to the firm soil beneath the stems, letting his finger tips curl to lightly disturb the surface. "But yeah. Some people like what's easy and pretty." he mused with a little smirk, retracting his hand to pocket into his hoodie.
"Come to see any plants in particular, then?" he himself, while a great fan of flora, wasn't overly well versed in all that was available during given seasons. But he was slowly learning, and always up for finding others to add to his library of plant knowledge.

"Absolutely, not that there's anything wrong with pretty. I personally prefer a little resilience in nature." Reed, could only guess at the boys age..He had to be younger, maybe?
"Nothing in particular no. I'm trying to reacquaint myself with the city. It's been awhile..The park seemed to be the safest place to start." Reed shrugged softly. He momentarily found himself deeply missing Sao Paulo, everything there had been so lush. Winter hadn't even been a thing, and that had been crazy enough to get used to. "I honestly fell in love with some of the more exotic types of plants while I was traveling. I wouldn't expect to see them here..Unless they have a very humid greenhouse hidden away in this park."
He smiled fondly, wondering if there was somewhere in the city like that now. He was out of touch. "I'm Reed by the way, I used to go to the preparatory college three years back. It's nice to meet someone else who likes plants." Leaning down to offer his hand.
He felt silly, walking up on the kid without at least introducing himself first, he should have been lucky the guy hadn't run off on him.

Been awhile? Head tipping with curiosity, he leaned forward a little to show his interest, "Oh wow, you were traveling? What was it like?" it wasn't often he'd heard, or met rather, those who left the city. He himself had always been interested in what the world beyond must be like. So those big silver eyes of his were widened and sparkling with obvious awe.
If nothing else, he could pretend to live a little through the stories he heard.
The introduction had him sitting straight again, a hand untucking from his pocket--since the other was preoccupied with the flowers themselves-- to meet the other man's hand, "Hirvio, but you can call me Vi~" he happily replied, "Yeah, I can't say that my liking of plants has ever landed me making new friends though." he giggled faintly.
