So for anyone who read my other topic thread, you know I have a....okay, I am so bad with the terms, so if I use the wrong one please please please correct me....transgender girlfriend? She was born a man but lives as a woman now?
Well she has chosen a name, and has now been telling me about doctors she has researched for the sex change surgery. I'm freaking out. I know she won't change mentally, but 6 years of dating a man, it's scary to think of. I'm so happy for her, but I'm also really scared. I try really hard to support her, but I still freeze up when she tries talking about it.
What also scares me though is the prejudice in this world. I am pagan, I am overweight, so already I have a few things some people might frown on. I like staying in the background, so I'm also partially worried this'll give me some unwanted attention in my live.
I am ranting, I know, but I don't know where else to rant because my family doesn't know the situation. I just don't know what to think anymore, I'm so overwhelmed.

I don't think you're panicking for no reason. Your concerns are valid. There is a lot of prejudice in this world, especially against trans* people. As I believe I said in the other thread though, you just have be there for her and support her. What you're feeling and your concerns are very natural. This is a difficult path for both of you but I'm sure that you can get through it.

I'm doing my best to support her. It's just a little weird for me because up until now, I always imagined the typical picket fence, suburban home, and maybe a kid or two with my husband. Everything changed almost overnight so I'm just scared as hell.

if your love is true, you two will make it thru this...remember this is a difficult, scary, exciting time for her too.

maybe you could sit down with her and discuss feelings...it might help if you both knew that you had each others support during this time...it's always good to have good communication skills in a relationship..

not sure what else to say...i've imagined this happening to me, but have never actually had it happen...so i can't give you firsthand advice.

Best wishes,

Elly

We have actually discussed the emotions tied to this a lot.
We are long distance. I live in the US. She lives in Sweden.
My main concern....if something happens, I won't know. Luna has sworn to me if anything at all, which she doubt anything would happen, were to happen then her mother has my contact info to get in touch with me to let me know what's going on.
Doesn't help my emotional brain. I worry.
