Chel had spent most of the reception either on Jack's lap or taking gifts or entertaining people or any number of things that a Good Host would do. By the time the final guest had left (Chris, because Chel and Chris had been having a long shoot the s**t in the kitchen and had lost track of time between beers) it was dark and the house was a mess. Chel actually kind of hoped shadows would breach the shield and destroy all the chairs so they had an excuse to leave them there.
Between everything she'd never had a moment alone with Jack and it felt like it had been ages since it was just the two of them despite it only being a handful of hours.
Without saying anything she pushed her forehead into his side. A Good Day but a Long Day.

He didn't remember the last time he had made himself talk to that many people, at least not counting missions. Luckily, Jack had loosened up as the day went on, with the majority of his fears passing once it became clear their day wasn't going to get shat on by a happenstance apocalypse, though in the end he still wasn't a people person, and he was still as drained as Chel by the time they were finally were alone.
(There were still dishes left in the sink and food packaged in the fridge and leftover chairs and stray light strings and some strewn petals about the floor and where exactly had Owain placed Milo's paper crane swirl after wearing it? But that was for later.)
A soft noise left him at the touch, and he shifted to remind himself he could still move, bent his arm up and twisted the ring just slightly to feel it. He eyed it for a while and then gave Chel a sidelong, tired glance, before sighing, though this one sounded more content.

"I know this is the part where I climb my beanstalk," she said, though the phrase was muffled into his side, "But you wanna go take a nap?"

"You wanna--" He stopped himself with a snicker and let his head fall back. "It's, what, 9? 10? We're falling asleep at that point, not napping. Like old people."

"Naw I only need a few hours," she said with all that it implied.
She gathered enough energy to lift herself off of him before letting out a long yawn. "An' we can sleep in t'morrow."

"Babe, I love you, but I'm not sleeping for three hours and then having sex before going back to sleep after something like that." Jack yawned as well and stretched once Chel got off him, popping his fingers in particular. "My sleep schedule is ******** up enough."
Or he just needed convincing.

"Augh whatever," she responded, finally detaching completely and trailing towards the stairs in that way that her whole body was sagging and hunched over, fingers swinging idly below.
It hadn't been more than a minute alone and she was already done with Jack's s**t.
"I'm sleepin' you can come or not." Was that a double entendre? Yes, yes it was.

"Hooooold on."
He trailed after her and then, with markedly less exhaustion than shown, gestured that he wanted to pick her up, well, bridal style. Jack had since learned that trying to sweep her up without warning usually didn't end well.

Chel raised an eyebrow with intrigue. "You sure yer arms ain't gonna snap like little twigs?"
But she put her hands on his shoulders, close enough to pick up. Ready, sir.

He scoffed as he picked her up properly. Now they were able to proceed to the bedroom, which had been left untouched thankfully.
"D'you doubt me?" he asked, arching his own brows in return, his lips pulling to one side. "Mrs. Hawthorn?"

While they walked Chel rested her head on his shoulder and pressed her nose into his hair. Exasperation was always easily ignite and quickly doused between them.
"Now I got everything else." Imitation included, followed by a yawn. "Mine."

"Mmmm," he agreed. Although now that Chel brought it up, he inwardly cringed at the sap of his speech. He was never going to do impromptu s**t like that ever again if he could help it.
Jack ducked his head instinctively as he entered the room. Their bed wasn't a proper thing, more like two mattresses stacked on one another with a mess of blankets (more so than usual due to the cold and Chel's intolerance of it). Off to the side he saw the paper cranes dangling off a hangar on the closet door; it seemed Owain had visited after all.
"What's it feel like?" he asked as he delivered Chel to the bed.

Chel wished she had the energy to rip the stupid dress off. It was a comfortable dress sure (Chel had made sure that whatever she wore would be comfortable; she wouldn't sacrifice that for beauty) but it was more layers than she had probably ever worn in her life and more than her usual underwear and shirt combo.
She let the dress curl around her legs while she folded into Jack once he'd joined her. "Y'know- good. Like the way yer prob'ly feelin." One more yawn and she closed her eyes. "Least- hope y'do." She paused thoughtfully before more seriously adding on, "Like he's really gone for good now that th'name's gone."

An arm went around her as she crumpled against him, and he hummed again. One eye remained open somehow as they hung in a comfortable silence. Jack knew enough about her father from the peripheral dialogue and actions. He couldn't take every bit of influence away, but at least he could do this.
"I feel like I'm supposed to wake up," he said after a time. "It's...too good. Too much. I'm so ******** happy, but I'm scared I'll find out this was all just some...some ******** up dream. The whole time we were there, I kept waiting for something to happen." In a way, he still was.

"F'its a dream that means y'get to wake up and do it again," she pointed out, because there wasn't a world she could perceive where she wouldn't do it again.
She couldn't promise nothing will happen because that was the fastest broken promise on Deus island. She could, however, promise, "Fer now it ain't though. I really am yers. I could pinch you f'it'd help."
