Xeizii's parents had truly done their best to keep their sickly child out of the fray - but there was only so much they could do for him as time went on. 20 years and he hadn't grown, not one inch. Some years his condition grew worse, others it got better, but it was never fully healed. No doctors could fix him, and eventually, they refused to even hear about him. They were at a loss for what to do... Humans didn't live terribly long in compared to a Meta's life span - or their supposed life span... They had no idea how long their son was going to stay like this.

So, when news of the Sanctuary came to them, they'd decided that it was in his best interest to send him along. They probably had better facilities to care for his unique problems, and they were beginning to get too old to care for him any longer. Whisper, the other child they had adopted, had disappeared without a trace shortly after the demise of the Academy.

It was another one of his bad days, one where he could barely walk and had to keep a line of oxygen in place in order to breathe properly. He watched as his father unloaded the car, packing his things onto a trolley in an orderly fashion. He wished he could help, but simply standing was making his head spin. His mother had not come along, her own health was in decline as it was.

"Alright, Xeizii. Just need to get your chair..." The human man smiled wearily, and then proceeded to undergo the terrible task of removing his electric wheelchair from the van. Xeizii covered his mouth - despite the mask that occupied it - to smother a cough that choked out the reply he was going to make originally... Once his father had it out and situated, he came over to help him into the chair, and then grabbed the trolley handle.

"Alright, lets head in. Seems they could use some lawn care..." The man quirked a brow as he started on ahead of Xeizii to open the gate... once Xeizii was through, he pulled the trolley in and then closed it before continuing on after his son to the main building.

Thankfully the handicap access was still usable... Xeizii carefully maneuvered up the ramp and then to the door, where he barely mustered the strength to push the automatic button. He then steered his chair inside, and waited for his father. Hopefully someone would be around to greet them... he couldn't really see anyone.

someone's...here.......... somewhere...

The muffled sound of the voice in his head was barely audible, as usual, but he supposed it was right. He'd spoken to his parents about it a few times - but they and the doctors had always chalked it up to his illness. As long as it wasn't hurting him, they felt no real need to do anything about it.

"Hello?? Is anyone here??" His father called out into the building as he pulled the trolley further inside. Xeizii sighed internally, and then maneuvered his chair to follow.

Delilah heard someone enter the main hall as she perked up slightly, releasing her emotions from earlier as she walked gracefully through the hall to the front area, setting eyes on a boy in a wheelchair and a man that was with him. Her expression didn't change, though she felt a slight bit of nervousness beginning in her stomach. This meta was obviously sick and Delilah knew that she could end up worsening his condition if she stayed around him too long. She kept her distance, but made herself known. "h-hello." she spoke out softly, her bright green eyes reflecting her calm nature. She saw that the boy had a mask on just like her, it actually made her feel like she wasn't alone for just a fleeting moment.

"W-welcome to... M-metamorphose sanctuary..." she greeted, a polite smile peeking out from beneath her mask. She wanted to know more about this meta before her, but was hesitant since she was unsure of how her aura would begin to affect him. For now, he should be fine, her aura of illness only really started to affect people after quite a few hours with her, though that may be lessened depending on his condition.

No one can truly be your friend.

Xeizii and his father both turned their attention to the sound of someone coming closer - though Xeizii maintained his small distance behind his father. He knew his condition was off-putting to a lot of people, Metas included. Though... it seemed this girl was also sick --

danger....... stay away....

There it was again... Whenever he'd ignored the voice, he ended up paying for it... But it wasn't as if he could leave. This was going to be home now. His father was speaking - something about a greeting and introductions... He nodded his head to the girl, glassy eyes seeming barely focused on the world around him.

"We got a flyer 'bout the uh... Well I reckon it isn't a school anymore, but we got the news. Our son, Xeizii - he's always been fair sickly and unfortunately we aren't gettin' any younger..." His father spared an apologetic glance back at him. He knew why they were here, and what was going to happen. They'd sat down and discussed it as a family a few nights prior to their arrival.

"We were just... hopin', that since this was where he came from, y'all might have the right proper facilities t'help him."

Delilah observed the man and boy closely. She felt sad that they seemed to come to such a decision the way they had. She nodded, "W-we have m-multiple researchers... t-that specialize in m-metas and the c-conditions they h-have. If t-there is any p-place he could g-get help, it's h-here." she answered, smiling with a small sense of determination. She wanted to help him. She was extremely versed on Metas and had actually researched a lot about her own condition. Though, she had never come to a solid conclusion about her powers, she began to hope that maybe this boy was just like her. Maybe he was sick because he was sickness.

You're going to regret getting attached.

She shook the thought, the first time in many years she seemed to almost acknowledge the echo in her mind of her past Mane. Delilah hadn't been able to help Endora, but maybe she could help this Meta.

"I... I-i'm the s-same... B-but I've gotten b-better. W-we can help h-him.." she added, trying to relate the best she could. Delilah was still not the best at empathizing with other people after being alone for so very long, but this was the first time since Endora left that she felt attached. She stepped closer carefully, keeping an eye on Xeizii. She came to stand before him and kneeled down to see eye-to-eye with him, her face gentle with compassion as she smiled. "N-nice to m-meet you.. Xeizii... M-my name is.. D-delilah."

His father seemed to sigh with relief at the news that they could help - though Xeizii knew he had more composure than to show it so freely. "That is the best news we heard in quite some time..." He smiled a little, then looked back to Xeizii as Delilah approached him.

danger.... xeizii.... stop this....

Xeizii blinked slowly, watching as she approached. He wasn't going to pull back, no matter how much the voice in his head begged him to. It was rude. And his father would be displeased with him if he did. He breathed in, slowly, but deeply - filling his lungs as much as he could manage in order to reply to her greeting... though he did not move his mask.

"N---iiiice... to meeeet... y--hoou.." He wheezed out his response, then lifted a hand to cover his face as he coughed a little. His father shuffled over, worried, and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"He's havin' a bad health day.. but we had t'come t'day or not come at all..."

PostPosted: Mon Jan 11, 2016 11:30 pm

She smiled as Xeizii as he responded, hiding her worry fairly well as she naturally straightened up a little but was still bent down to his level. "I.. u-understand." she reassured as she sympathizes with the situation. Delilah was still holding out hope, and she wanted to instill that upon him as well. She placed a hand on his for a brief moment, enough to use her powers to give him hope. She stood straight, looking to the man. "I c-can show h-him around... and show h-him... the housing." she looked to see if he would allow her to receive him. It must have been hard, all the years they spent looking after him. She wondered what that would have felt like, to be cared about in her bad health days. She had come to rely on only herself. Alone. But that did not have to be the same for Xeizii.

XEIZII

He barely winced as the sound in his head grew loud, just briefly when she touched his shoulder.. Somehow he felt a little better - at least mentally. What had she done...? He wasn't about to ask, though. Not yet. Speaking took too much energy - energy that he didn't have. He glanced over to his father, listening while she offered to take him around to the housing. Would he be alone? Probably not - she'd just said he would be getting help.

"That'd be awful kind of ya. Is there anythin' I need t'fill out? Get him all situated?" He tilted his head as he reached over to pat Xeizii's head, gently ruffling up his deep purple hair. It put Xei at ease - he liked it when his parents showed him affection in this manner - though it had at some times become dangerous for them to do so.

"Y-yes.. the p-paperwork." she glided over to the front desk to grab a paper and pen then returned. "J-just a f-few questions..." the paper had basic questions like name, age, race, etc.

After she handed the paper to fill out, she glanced back down at the boy.

You're only hurting yourself.

This was the most her echo had ever talked and she didn't know why it was happening so often now, the notion prodding her mind as it was reluctant to be ignored. "T-there's... a p-pretty lake... not too f-far... i-if you'd l-like to see it."

You're only going to hurt him.

It was getting louder, she didn't understand why, was Endora trying to warn her about something. No, Endora had been gone for years. Delilah of all people would know that, she remembered Endora's face and then blinked, pushing the memory back. Now was not the time to be reminiscing about that.

"Ah, thankya." He took the paperwork, and then shuffled over to a good spot to start filling it out - trusting Delilah with Xeizii for now. The boy hadn't objected, so he figured everything was fine.

Xeizii sighed a little, watching his father go sit down. The voice was still telling him to get away from this girl, but he continued to quietly hush it. "Thaa...at... sounds.... n---ice...." He nodded his head a little, and took another deep breath in to steady himself. "C---aaaan... the chair.. maaa-- it?" He shifted his eyes to look down at himself, indicating that he did not have the strength to be going on walks right now. Hopefully she'd understand...

Delilah followed the man with her eyes as he went to sit down. She blinked a little then shifted her gaze to Xeizii nodding in agreement over the idea to go to the lake. She thought a bit as he asked the question, nodding once more. "I-it's pavement... g-going there..." she commented as she stood next to him, analyzing the chair. It was automatic, not that she minded. Though her powers were very strong, her body was incredibly frail, but even she felt confident enough to push him to the lake if she had to. "...d-do you want... m-me to help y-you" she extended the courtesy to wheel him there herself. She coughed lightly, her voice was threatening to quit on her from all that she had said earlier that day, but she pressed on. She had so much more to say. "I w-wonder... if y-you and I..a-are the e-exact same." she pondered aloud. She had read over the scientists books a thousand times, but they had never experimented with metas having similar or the same item. Though, she doubted Xeihii had the exact same item as her, she wondered what it was and what his abilities were, if he even used them anymore.

"...w-what makes y-you sick?.." she was surprisingly direct with her question, she didn't know how else to ask it and was never one to beat around the bush for answers she craved. Her eyes still bright with serenity and determination as she wondered the best route to the lake that would make it less difficult for him. The man, his father, seemed to trust her a lot. That was good. This meant that she could immediately start in on scientific calculations to attempt to help Xeizii from his illness. Or at least make him feel better enough to stand again. Not as sick, since she understood that even she had to remain sick if she wanted to stay alive. That much she understood.

xeizii.... the mask....... filters.....

He blinked, and mentally thanked the voice for being more specific. Clearly it had realized that he wasn't going to just up and leave... but he didn't have his mask currently... or at least, where it was accessible, and it didn't work very well with his oxygen intake. He sighed, closing his eyes to rest them a little while Delilah spoke.

"I can... mooove the chair...... today isss.... juuust a bad.... daaaay... normally.... can waaalk..." He wheezed out his response, followed up by another few coughs. Ugh, his throat was so dry... Where was his water bottle again? He opened an eye to look for it... ah.

It took him a bit, but he managed to get his arms and hands to cooperate long enough to pick it up, then carefully lift the bottom of his mask to take a sip of the water. He then pulled it down again - mindful of the frantic hum in his head - then put the water back. "I don't---.... knooow what you... mean...." Did she mean if their items were the same? He'd never met another cello - plenty of musical Metas but no cellos.

"We don't... knnnnow.... doctorssss... can't find a sssource... stopped... looking..." He managed half a shrug, and shifted the one eye that was open to look at her. "doesss... it hurt to.... sssspeak...?" He didn't want her to trouble herself with it. Granted he couldn't really sign at the moment - it required too much energy - and attempting to write would be a mistake. He could understand her, though, if she signed...

Delilah nodded as he let her know that he could move the chair. Even more so that he could walk at times, this somehow relieved her. It meant that there was a chance she could do something to help him. Maybe in some sort of repentance for what she had inevitably done to Endora almost 10 years ago. His coughing concerned her however, but she pressed on. Maybe he would feel better if he had a friend, someone to share common things with.

You better stop.

Delilah physcially shook her head lightly, the voice was getting lighter now. Why was it trying to tell her to stop? It never cared before. Why now?

"I-it's okay... j-just thinking a-aloud..."

She frowned slightly as Xeizii didn't seem to understand her question. She let it go however, it wasn't that important she guessed. Even though it probably was, she didn't want to make things difficult for him.

She turned and began to walk slowly, giving him time to keep pace with her to follow her to the lake. She turned a little red in embarassment when he asked her about her speech, it had been a long time since she'd been around someone, let alone pointed out that she had trouble speaking. Her eyes shifted away, ashamed of her speech impedement.

"...n-no..." she answered shortly, folding her hands into each other delicately as she walked, closing herself off from the idea.

He's not like you.

"s-stop..." she whispered, the first time in a decade that she had acknowledged the echo in her mind. She didn't want to hear it anymore. Conflicted on whether she should let herself open up to Xeizii was an internal struggle as she knew she'd feel horrible for hurting him if he turned out to be affected by her illness. She'd have to tell him eventually. And when that happened, she'd just accept whatever answer came of it, despite her compassion wanting more than that.

He pushed forward on his chair's control, following her out of the room. His father was too caught up in the paperwork to pay much mind, but he figured that he'd be happy that he was making a friend so quickly after arriving... Was that what was happening?

....not good.... friend.... xeizii.. be careful....

He really wished that voice would stop with the warnings. He knew by now. In the past, he'd try to speak to it, but it never seemed to respond to him... He tilted his head a little, closing his open eye and then opening the other to give it a rest. "i was.... mossstly... asking... because... if you know hhhhhow.... to ssss--ign... i can... undersssstand.... it...." It was beginning to get a little harder to speak, but it wasn't like he had any other option. Hopefully she wouldn't be offended...

"Is.... ssssomething.... wrong...?" He blinked slowly, confused by her quiet request to stop.

Delilah walked just ahead of him, leading him to the lake as they talked. Her face brightened as he suggested sign language to her. She'd never met any other person who'd already known sign language. She usually had to teach others when they asked to learn. She nodded, excitement almost making its way to her face as she smiled lightly. She began to sign, trying not to go too fast out of elation. "Sign language is better for me. Thank you."

"I had a lot of questions but I don't want to strain you either. Would it be better if I asked yes or no questions? That is, if you want to answer them. I can tell you about myself as well if it helps." she had an incredibly easier time relaying what she wanted to say this way, and was deeply happy that someone could share in that moment with her.

"I'm fine.... Sometimes my thoughts get away from me." she explained, divulging a little more than she intended to.

He managed a small smile behind his mask when her face brightened. He liked that. "Yesss.... or no questionsss... are a lot easier...... I don't mmmm...mind... answering... thingsss.." He nodded a little, then slowed down the speed of his chair a bit so he could stay on the appropriate path. It was nice outside, he wished he could actually be part of it for once...

"It'ssss... okay... I was j---ust... worr--ied..."
