After leaving Erebus to part ways he's sent him a text, while walking home, hoping that he arrived home safely. He didn't wish for any harm to come to the other, especially now that they were friends. He hadn't sent anything since then however. He'd spent the last day and a half rather busy with some things he had to do around the house, helping move furniture as his mother and father worked on painting the bathroom, kitchen, and other rooms that hadn't been painted shortly after them moving in. He would move the furniture and than leave the house to avoid the smell of paints as it was rather heavy and bothersome for him.
Tonight though he wasn't busy and thought it a good idea to treat the other to dinner as a thank you, and because they were friend and it was about time they spent time together.
The text had been sent to Terry asking if he wanted to meet him for dinner, his treat, followed by an address to a restaurant in Korea Town.
The place was nice, somewhat large, with a sliding glass door. The floor immediately upon entering was wooden and sunken down a bit. Five feet or so ahead however the floor rose up and right there was a set of cubbies for peoples shoes, which was where Seung's shoes were, along with slippers made for the restaurant and were only to be worn inside. Once shoes were traded and one stepped up onto the raised wooden floor the place was well laid out. The tables were low so seating was on the floor, on special mates. The tables were long and with a grill in the center and a ventilation set up of sorts right above it that people could move lower or higher as needed. The place was traditional and that was why Seung enjoyed it.
Already there, he was planning to eat here no matter what, he was seated at a table and facing the entrance to catch the other male when he entered, if he showed up. Dressed in ripped up black jeans, and a nice cowl neck top, also black in color, that had buckles about the neck to give a flare to it he stood out. Most of the people here were adults, not that he wasn't, but they all looked like adults. He had make up on, which at a distance one couldn't really tell, that gave him a soft look and really smooth looking skin. His eyes, already narrow and almost cat like, were lined in black on the inside bottom and top lid so they looked even more dramatic. It was normal for him to dress as such though so no thought had been given to it. He was what they would call back home a kkotminam, meaning flower boy.
Would the other say something about his looks? He knew, from school and such, that it was very unusual if not downright unseen here unless the person was gay. While he might be gay it wasn't because of that and was rather normal back home, he'd done some stat checking when he's moved here and started to get teased some for his habits. He wouldn't admit to it, aside from to himself, but he was nervous about this meeting if it did happen.Natsuko-neko Info links: http://beyondhallyu.com/k-pop/just-pretty-face-long-little-known-history-korean-flower-boys/ http://www.koreaboo.com/buzz/make-up-use-among-south-korean-men-more-popular-than-ever/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2204587/The-flower-boys-South-Korea-spend-beauty-products-men-world.html http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2013/05/south-korean-men-cosmetics-crazed/

When he had gotten the text not long after they split off, Terry had responded in kind, glad it was clear the other had no problems contacting him when ever he wanted to. He spent the next few days getting ready to go back to school, which ended up including the need to go shopping for clothes and supplies such as notebooks, so he hadn't sent anything beyond that first message either. He was however pretty much ready for his next classes and left with little else to do but wait. So it was a welcoming interruption of said waiting when he got Seung's invite out. One quick internet search let him know the distance and that it was a traditional setting restaurant. Since the restaurant wasn't quite in walking distance, unless in powered form he supposed but he wasn't going to do that, he borrowed his brother's car after sending Seung a return text to let him know he was coming, and also that he didn't expect him to pay for him though thank you for the offer. When he got there he thankfully caught on to switch shoes before he made the mistake of walking in passed the entrance with his normal shoes rather then the slippers. He made the mental note to ask his friend to explain some of the customs he might trip over as he looked around and quickly spotted him. He gave the other man a small smile in greeting as he walked over, glad he had chosen to wear some nice black jeans and a dark purple long sleeved shirt so he would be too out of place. "Sorry, were you waiting long?" He asked when he was closer. It wasn't until then that he noticed the makeup but he just shrugged it off. To each their own right? Sleet Tempest Snape ouo Cool *reads them* Sorry it took me a bit to respond ^u^

He had gotten the others texts and while he smiled over the others turn down of payment for the meal he still planned to cover it, whether the other liked the idea or not.
Watching the door open as a couple, an older couple, came in he soon saw the other enter as well and raised a hand toward him. Watching Terry switch shoes he smile, he should have told him but he had thought it would be easy to figure out and hadn't wanted to treat him like a child. At least he hadn't walked right in without changing shoes, he'd seen someone do that a few weeks back.
Shaking his head he smiled up at the other. "No, not too long." Raising a hand for a waitress he called out for a menu in English and a normal menu. Speaking in Korean for the waitress who was more familiar with the language, like he was. "She will bring English menu." So the other could read what was in everything, and see the portion sizes. "Can you eat with chop sticks?" The table, by the wall, was a holder filled with metal chop sticks and a holder for bottles of all kinds of sauces.
As the waitress, who seemed to be in her early twenties, came over with menus she handed them each one and told them she'd be right back to take their orders. Thanking her and bowing he watched her go before turning to the other. "Thank you for coming. I hope you did not have hard time finding here."Natsuko-neko It's ok, and yeah I give links to give a bit of info at times. ::Nods, has done her research before making the character.::

"I'm glad." Terry said with a nod as he sat down. He waited until Seung was finished talking to the waitress before speaking up again, not wanting to interrupt. "Thank you, that would be easier then just asking for a translation on everything." He gave another small smile then looked around the room briefly, taking in the decorations then turned his attention back to his friend. "I have never tried so I'm not sure if I can or not to be honest." He looked at the chop sticks with a thoughtful look. "I think you are going to have to show me how to use them." His attention was pulled away when the waitress came back and he took the menu she handed him with a small smile and a thank you, giving a copy bow when he saw Seung to it. "Thank you for inviting me. No, not much thanks to gps." Very handy as Seung could agree he was sure seeing how he was using one the other day. Sleet Tempest Snape ouo It's very helpful so I'm glad *Approves of research*

"Yes, it would take long to do that." He said with a smile and some laughter as well. Translating everything would be easy enough, he could do that, but with hi broken English it might take time. "Alright, fork then. I can try to teach you." He had learned when he was a baby, like people here learned to use forks and spoons. They made chop sticks with finger placement loops on them in order to help children learn, he didn't think they made such a thing for older people. It wasn't needed back home so maybe it was something here? Though he did doubt it.
"That is good. I am glad you got here ok." Opening the menu he wasn't surprised when the main thing they showed for korean bbq, it was the main thing here and the reason for the grill in the center of the table and the overhead ventilation set up. They also sold other things though like mandu, shabu shabu and more. The food was all normal for him, things he was used to and knew so he didn't have to read over the menu more than seeing what they had and deciding what he was in the mood for.
"Do you drink?" He asked, meaning alcohol of course. If he did perhaps a bottle of soju. He drank but not all the time so it would be up to the other if he ordered that or something else for himself.
Already with his mind made up he waited for the other, giving him time to read over the menu and decide on what he'd like to get.Natsuko-neko https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOmlsWxCmdk To show what the grill in the table and the ventilation looks like. Also the idea of the bbq. All the little side dishes just come with food you order also. So while you order the meal the side dishes come for free on the side. ::Nods:: And yes, research is always good. ::Has links to all kinds of food dishes::

Terry got a half smile when Seung laughed. "Sounds good." He said after eyeing the chopsticks one more time. It was nice that even if he couldn't pick up on using chopsticks he can just fall back on what he was familiar with. "Do you come here often?" He asked then opened the menu and started to read it. While he was plainly unfamiliar with most on it, from the descriptions most sounded delicious. He looked up from the menus when Seung asked him about drinking and gave a nod. "I haven't had a lot yet but occasionally yes." He had been good about not drinking alcohol beyond a few sips of offered drinks here and there until last month when he finally his 21. His eyes went back to the menu then picked a random meal from the ones that stood out to him that he might like to try. Sleet Tempest Snape That's cool! ouo Now I want to try Korean food at a place like that lol *Nods* ^u^

"I do, familiar. Food is like back home." And that was something he missed, and had figured he might only get at home with his family. To have found Korea Town and places, like this one, which served authentic food he was happy. It seemed most of the other places here did as well, with workers who spoke Korean as well. It was a comfortable slice of home, even though it also made him home sick at the same time.
"Should I order soju then? or not?" He asked, wanting to let the other decide. They would share the bottle, though if he wanted he could handle a bottle or two on his own. He didn't drink heavy but a bottle or two wasn't that bad, well not typically anyway.
For himself he was going for the pork barbecue, knowing he'd get side dishes that would come with it, and he was prepared for that. That, along with the pork, would fill him up nicely with hot and yummy food. Natsuko-neko Same here. That youtube channel I sent you, they have other food dishes as well in other videos. So you can always look them up using the term fap fap. ::Nods:: But I would loooove to try such foods. I just gotta find good places near here.

"Well then I'm glad you were able to find this place." Home was always important and he couldn't imagine just how hard it must be to have moved to another country. Terry glanced down to the menu at Seung's question to see what he was referring to then gave a shrug. "Sure, it would be interesting to try out." He said after reading the description of the drink. He figured one drink wouldn't hurt since they would have food along with it. Maybe the beef barbecue would go well with it. "I take it you have had it before?" Sleet Tempest Snape Cool, I'll have to check it out then.

"Yes, soju is normal." He said nodding his head and motioned for the waitress. "I do not drink a lot, but it is normal." It was normal to drink with food at times, sometimes more so with certain foods. But soju wasn't that strong, as far as he thought. "As normal as....beer here." he said after some moments of silence.
As the waitress came he gave a quick and very short, not that low, of a bow before placing his order for the types of pork he wanted and one bottle of soju. Tea also for himself and than turned to Terry. "You can order what you like. I order the soju for...us and tea for self." He said slowly. The other could order what he'd like, the soju was ordered, and get something else to drink as well.Natsuko-neko Yeah, the foods they have look amazing and just..yummy.

Terry raised an eyebrow and gave a nod. "That makes sense. Every culture seems to have a drink like that after all." Beer, wine, some times cocktail drinks, all these happen to be paired up with meals and being normal depending on where you were so it wasn't a strange concept at all. He watched how Seung ordered trying to learn by seeing what would be considered polite in this setting. "Thank you." He nodded when the other man gave him the go ahead then he tried to copy his bow again and ordered some tea as well and placed his order for the beef dish he had decided on. When the waitress left he gave Seung a half smile. "You'll let me know if I do or have done something out of place or offensive right?" He asked, referring to his earlier manners. Sleet Tempest Snape You know, I haven't had the change to try Korean food yet, this will have to change.

Nodding his head to the others words, agreeing with them. "Yes, for us soju, sake in Japan." beer here from what he heard and could tell. He knew France liked wine, he wasn't sure about elsewhere. But it was the cultural thing. people drank other things, of course, but soju was the drink in Korea and it was the drink here.
"Of course. Some things obvious, some not." Thinking over what he'd seen here, on tv, and heard he had some ideas on what things for him were different compared to those from here. "When waitress comes. it is polite to say...I will eat well. As thank you for the meal." It would be polite to say it to him as well but he didn't mention that. It was the first thing he knew was different, he had not seen it done on tv with American families so it stood out to him. "When done eating - I ate well. That is polite." Might as well get those two most basic things out of the way first, and together.
"Do not lift rice bowl from table, it stays on table. Do not put your chop sticks into the rice - is done to honor the dead." Which made it really odd, and improper, to do at a table when eating. It was also perhaps offensive to people, and most of the people here would see it as wrong as a quick glance about told him most here were likely Korean. He would, since the other was not Korean and was new to things, get to nit picking or telling him every rule. Some things could be ignored while other things, like the ones mentioned already, were important and might bother other people.
"Side dishes shared...do not pick at, just take some." To pick at it, work a fork or chop sticks, would be impolite. They would both be sharing those side dishes and it was normal to do so. Certain meals were also shared, hence the reason for the rule as well. Thinking over things, wondering about anything else he shook his head. "Those are main ones."

Terry nodded and made sure to remember what he was supposed to say and do. "Thank you, I would hate to be rude, intentional or other wise." It was always interesting to learn about another culture, even if it was simply do and do not's. Some times those could lead to a lot of good insights after all. He kept himself from glancing around the room again and just figured he would end up studying how Seung acted and try to copy him for anything he hadn't mentioned just yet. "Don't be surprised if I play copy cat for the most part." he warned the other man with a small smile. Sleet Tempest Snape Sorry about the late response

"You won't be rude." No, it would be understood not to mention they were not in Korea, so it wasn't all expected here. Many here might have been born here, unlike himself. "It's ok, understand you're not from Korea. This isn't Korea as well." He said, trying to explain things to the other. Even though he did want to know proper manners, which was nice of him to want to learn.
"Copy...cat?" He asked. it wasn't a term he'd every heard before. he knew what a cat was but what was the other talking about? Flipping his hair from his face he caught site of the waitress with a large plate headed there way. On top of it seemed to be the side dishes, rice, kimchi, and other things; most being vegetables of various kinds. The meat was also being brought out, by someone else. The soju and tea was also coming out with the meat - good.
Thanking them when they arrived, bowing a few times as well, as dishes were put down at the table Seung moved to sit next to the other. So he wouldn't have to lean over the table when passing him food as he was planning to grill everything. He didn't want to lean over the table to put food onto the others plate. So once reseated he was more than happy to move about the side dishes and arrange things and get some meat, beef and pork, onto the grill and adjust the venting set up that hung above the grill. A pair of metal chop sticks had been taken and moved to his plate while he'd taken a fork for the other and placed it on his plate. Next to each plate a bowl of rice. In the center of the table were the side dishes they had to share. A little shot glass each for the bottle of soju and the tea cups and tea pot for them.
The tongs were already being put to work as he'd set the meat on the grill and was now listening to it as it cooked. "I'll cook." He said with a smile to the other. Also, he would offer the other food. Once the tongs were down on the side, the meat cooking, he was picking up his chop sticks and expertly picking up some of the kimchi and reaching for the others face with the plans of turning the other toward him and offering him a bite to try.

"True." Terry agreed, nodding his head. This was America and not Korea that was true but he didn't mind making an effort to at the very least learn. "But it doesn't hurt to be polite or at least try to be." He got a small smile at the questioning tone the other used. "Yes, copy cat. Basically it just means I will be copying your movements and such, like I have been doing with the bows." He stopped talking when he saw what Seung was looking at. It was not hard to admit that the food all looked good. Sure enough, just like Terry said he would, he copied Seung's movements when the food was set down and was sure to say what the other had told him to earlier. He watched as everything was rearranged and the meat was put on to cook. "You sure? I don't mind helping if you want." He offered with a smile. He think blinked in surprise at the hand coming toward his face and shifted slightly farther while turning to give Seung a confused look.

"Yes, and they will see it." And appreciate it of course. He couldn't be sure which ones were from here or there, given enough time here and an accent would develop. So it was hard to tell who would have the manners he had and who wouldn't and such. Either way they all would be fine with things as it was not Korea, but they would notice the effort and appreciate it. It likely wasn't something they got from foreign people often.
"Oh!" Even if he didn't understand it all he understood the basic message of what the other said, and what copy cat was.
With everything set up, waitresses off to handle other things, he was left to cook and enjoy the meal; which he had thanked the waitresses for of course. "It's fine, used to it." And he was good at grilling anyway. It wasn't such a hard thing to do really, not when you were used to it especially.
"Try this." He said as the other gave him a confused look. Offering the food held in his chop sticks to the other. "Kimchi."
