- CURRENT EVENTS - THE WINTER FEAST
This event will begin on January 12th! You may chat and discuss the event in this thread. If you have any questions feel free to post them here. As the winter draws near and the snow begins to lay across the ground, the annual Winter feast begins. The feast is a celebration of the Vamraaks to pray for a mild winter for the deer and leave gifts of hay and food in the surrounding fields to help them through the difficult winter months.
The feast itself is an outdoor celebration. Marquees are erected and great fires burn around the feast site, which takes place in the largest castle courtyard. The icy weather has made the lake freeze over and the members of the royal court are able to safely skate across the frozen lake. The large feast will be held before dusk, the long table will be set and all will be seated at the same table with the Emperor and Empress of Vamraak.
While most of the festivities seem to be geared towards the nobility, this is a great day of celebration for the servants as well. Servants receive gifts of candy, a pair of coins and a bag of wool for each member of the family. They are also entitled to a feast nearly as grand as that in which the nobles partake.
Usually the servants volunteer to work on this day even though it is a day of relaxation for them set aside historically as one where peasants were not forced to serve. The reason they volunteer is simple, they receive their normally allotted winter gifts but are also offered a bottle of fine wine or port for volunteering to serve on their day off. It is a reward for their extra dedication and service. As the day draws on and the feasting is about to start, something more sinister and worrying will occur. The people will wonder if it is a sign from their god. Is it a bad omen or a sign for something else? Only time will tell. Members beware...the taint in the kingdom is still roaming around and may be entering the threads at any point.
The Duelling Arena
Any Noble who wishes to pick up a sword and try their skills against another noble should sign up for the duelling arena. Each noble will be paired in a duel and will fight until the other man is beat or resigns from the match. Causality's may occur, but this is a friendly match between noblemen. The overall winner will receive the Title: Lord of the Winter. He will also receive a new commemorative shield and be expected to open the feast.
The dueling arena is a large open space surrounded in a circle by seating. Each noble will be paired up and with fight their duel. One each winner will duel the other winner until the winter feast has their Lord/Lady of the Winter!
